What happens when your career is thriving—but your body starts breaking down?
In this raw and unfiltered debut episode of Chronic Conversations, hosts Katherine Williams and Nikki Candito take you behind the curtain of chronic illness—the silent battles, the misdiagnoses, the days when just getting out of bed feels like a win.
Katherine opens up about her struggle with Hashimoto’s and SIBO, tracing the years it took to find real answers through integrative medicine. Nikki shares her emotional journey with Ulcerative Pan Colitis—how it first showed up as “just IBS” in 2004 and slowly escalated into full-blown burnout, forcing her to step away from her high-powered VP role and re-evaluate everything.
This episode isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about finally asking the right questions—and realizing you’re not crazy, you’re not weak, and you’re definitely not alone.
Nikki Candito is a high-achieving executive and chronic illness warrior. As a Vice President in her professional career, Nikki spent years pushing through symptoms, only to be sidelined by a severe Ulcerative Colitis flare-up that forced her to take a hard pause—four months off work and a complete lifestyle reset.
Originally misdiagnosed with IBS in 2004, Nikki later received a diagnosis of Ulcerative Pan Colitis, experiencing two major health crashes in 2011 and 2021. At her worst, she lost half her hair, struggled to function, and still felt dismissed by doctors.
Today, Nikki is learning to lead with compassion—for herself. Her story is a powerful reminder that even the most driven among us sometimes need to stop, surrender, and start again.
