(00:00):
All right, we've got Billy Morrisonon the phone. The Billy Morrison Project
will be out on the nineteenth ofApril. He's Billy Idol's rhythm guitar player.
He was also the basis for theCult for some time, and he's
got some friends that put together thisgreat record. You rounded up Al Jurgensen,
John Five, Corey Taylor, SteveVibe, your band made, Stevie
Stevens, and Billy Idol and theguy sitting next to you, mister Ozzy
(00:24):
Osbourne. Tell me a little bitabout your relationship with Ozzie real quick.
Billy Billy Martin is my best mate. Yeah, it's just too mates,
you know. I mean we metthirty years ago, we hit it off
and we just we're just mates.Look, I think it's just a case
(00:47):
of if you get too mates tothink the same way and hang out for
decades and decades. Yeah, sooneror later, you're gonna you're gonna do
something cool together. You know, why is something going together? It was
like I just had this inspiration aboutsomebody so crazy about it. It just
(01:07):
came out of nowhere. You know, didn't take long, did it.
Hey? So I read that yousend everybody the music, all your collaborators
the music, and you allowed thesesingers to write their own lyrics. So
yeah, on the on the restof the album, most of the album
was done like that. You know. I didn't want my guests to feel
(01:30):
hindered, so I would send themthe music and say do what you want.
The track I did with Ozzie,it was me, Ozzie and Steve
Stevens in a room together. Itwas it was a moment in time,
and you know, I remember Ozzielooking up and saying the lyrics to the
chorus, and we knew we hada song. Crack call Keene Welled.
(01:53):
We shelled him for lack of along while. It was about three years,
wasn't it. She took literally tookfive minutes to no tub at all.
I mean, in fact, theoriginal thing was a lot longer,
so we actually edited it down.Yeah. And it's not about pro co
crack cocaine. What people are gettingmore nikas in the twist over. Oh
(02:15):
you can't promote crack. It's notabout it's what the song is about a
guy who's crazy about it. Sis. It's like it's liking this to an
addition, you like crack cocaine. It's like that dysfunctional relationship and you know
(02:38):
it's not you know it's gonna hurt, but you pick it up again anyway.
The songs a brutal rocker, greatsong. We're gonna play that song
too in just a few moments hereon the Great Stone Program. Now,
so this must have came out ofCOVID. Then you guys were hanging out
(02:58):
during COVID. Yeah, break thewhole album. I didn't know I was
making an album, and so reallyit's a bunch of music that I was
messing about with during COVID, Andthen when we came out of COVID,
Sharon said, look, Ozzie reallylikes that crack cocaine track. We you
should put it out. We'll doa video. And at that point,
(03:19):
I've revisited all the music that I'vebeen doing during COVID and put You know,
Ozzie's been banging on at me foryears to do a proper solo album,
and I finally listened to it.Billy used to do it an album.
We used to have one original songand the rest of COVID, and
I know what the do you wantto get do the covers. You should
write your own. You know it'syour own. I finally decided to listen
(03:45):
to him, and here, herewe are. I've got a proper album
out and I'm very proud of it. Well, I can't wait to hear
the rest of it. Crack Cocaine, that features Ozzie and Stevie Stevens is
just a brutal track. Like Isaid, I'm gonna play it for you
in just a few moments. Therest of the album will be available on
the nineteenth of April. I'm prettyexcited about this. I would go like,
are you going to take this onthe road, Billy? But what
(04:06):
are you going to do with itafter the release? How on earth could
I take it on the road.I can't think crack Cocaine, I can't
think shaking shadows like Linda Perry. However, I will say this, if
someone out there wants to do aone night only, I've got everyone's phone
numbers and if the check's big enough, who knows. Ozzie, how are
(04:28):
you feeling? I mean, I'mgetting I'm feeling better with every day,
but still a bit of a wayto go. Don't give up on me,
oh never, never, You know, I gotta I gotta ask you.
You know, your wife has saidthat you're going to do one show
to say goodbye to the fans.I would like to suggest, if you're
(04:53):
up to it, maybe like amini tour of Ozfest where you get your
buddies. I would love that. But you know it stenter than might Department
and Sharon myself get myself in troubleat the time, and people go,
well, I'm just that you're goingI better get and yelled at you know,
(05:18):
I would like to do something inAmerica. Yeah, we'd like that
because we feel a little bit slightedthat the States wasn't mentioned with the you
know, any type of final show. Yeah, we'll see what happens.
You know, it depends on whatthe doctor's happened to. Well, I've
been telling people on the radio thatyou're going to do a couple of dates
(05:41):
when you feel better here in theStates. So don't make a liar out
of me. I haven't done completelyunderground. I'm repairs a few parts of
the old body. Ever since youhooked up with with Andrew Watt, your
whole musical career has had this youknow, this shot in the arm and
now you doing this record with Billyand I know it's three years old.
(06:02):
It's just like incredible that at yourage you're still pumping out this great metal.
Let me tell you something about OzzyOsborne. You know, lots of
people are like, Oh, how'she doing? How's he doing? Watching
this guy stand up and when thatred light goes on. Being the prince
of darkness and the voice that comesout of him. There's a reason why
(06:27):
he's an icon, and there's areason why he has a fifty year career.
He still kills it and that riskthat we wrote, me and Steve,
he just gravitated towards it and absolutelydestroyed it. It's an amazing song
and it couldn't have happened without him. Ozzie, you're nominated as a solo
(06:49):
artist for the Rock and Roll Hallof Fame. You're in with Sabbath.
You'll be one of the few artiststhat are in there twice. I think
Clapton holds the record he's in therethree times. How does that make you
feel? Because I got a goodfeeling you're going to get in as a
solo art ourn't want it yet?I don't know, wouldn't I announce that.
(07:10):
I mean, I'm not I justme nominates my knowing. Well,
you know, I think you're stillleading the fan vote, and I you
know, my personal opinion is youbelonging there as a solo artist for sure.
Thank you, thank you, Welove you, Ozzy. And I
know today is kind of a roughday for you, the nineteenth of March.
(07:31):
Today's the anniversary of the death ofRandy and just curious and you know,
some of those thoughts and memories thatOzzie has with him, it soon
comes around looking at things about onYouTube. It's still very sad. You
know. I'm seventy five. Hedied in twenty three. He had no
(07:57):
life. He was a great guyas well. He wasn't into drugs.
You want me to booze. Itwas just, you know, I was
I was blessed to be super solidand what a great musician to to help
you through that transition from Black Sabbathto a solo artist. If he would
(08:18):
have been so much special though hewas greatly. I can't wait to hear
the rest of Billy's record. I'mloving this track. We had a blast
making it, and the whole recordis something I'm really proud of really cool
Billy. To see you, youknow, I don't want to say step
up, but it's nice to seeyou, you know, take take center
(08:39):
stage. Thank you. You know. It's not a step up, it's
a step sideways. I am totallyhappy being who I am and being with
Billie idol Is. It's a I'mjust so grateful that I've got to spend
over a decade and a half withthat man. He's a wonderful, iconic
singer. But I'm taking a stepsideways and just going on. By the
way, here's twelve songs that Iwrote. You know. Thank you both
(09:01):
for joining the show today. Igreatly appreciate it. Billy's record, The
Billy Morrison Project, will be outon the nineteenth of next month, and
of course it features the great OzzyOsbourne. Thanks a lot, Billy.
