I'm finding it so hard to choose and I'm super
excited to introduce you to American duo Coastal. They make
music like I Have to Do is day Zeed, the
Chasemokers and two friends in loud Luxuries. If you love
their music, you're gonna love these guys. They are hanging
(01:36):
out right now. Hello, congratulations on your brand new single
minute with Piara.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I love it. How did that collaboration come about?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Bro, We'll get these demos that come through sometimes the
initial top line on this song where we heard for
the first time and we're like, yeah, this is so good.
Normally we're really heavily involved with the writing process on
every single one of our songs. This one was like
the vocal was so good. We're like, okay, Like, I
don't know if we've changed much on this. So keep
in mind these these pitches are sent out to huge DJs.
(02:08):
When they were originally sending this song out, they were
looking for artists like Zed or like the Chainsmokers, you know,
to take a song like this.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
So we kind of knew our chances.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Were slim, especially when we saw Kiara's name on the song, like, okay,
we didn't hear anything, you know, all of a sudden,
Kiara then just followed us on Instagram out of nowhere,
which we're like, okay, like, you know, she probably just
saw that we submitted the demo and she said I'll
be there in a minute.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
And then we were like hold on now, okay, like
that's a.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
That's a little bit of a coink adc, you know,
and you know, it's really rare for an artist or
her caliber to you know, effectively take a shot on
you know, younger artists. And but yeah, so it's kind
of been a long record in the making and it
was a fun little, you know, story to tell and
you look, it worked out, so you know, k if
you're listening to this, thanks, thank you so much for
(02:56):
believing in us.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
And I love the lyric and this song as well
got me going back.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
When we show people that song for the first time.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
They that was like part of the lyric that they
would hook on to, like people would just say it
like kind of like.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
No no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 6 (03:10):
Like that was that was a part that a lot
of people kind of gravitated towards, which is weird.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
It's like little things like that twenty two because we
had asked her, we're kind of like, you know, what
came about.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
With that song.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
So many people when we show them this song, that's
the first thing they'll bring up and she goes Honestly,
that was like a tech placeholder thing.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
I hated it. I didn't even I thought it was
too horny to be in the song. And we're like, what, Like,
that's the coolest part.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
You guys are currently on your twenty one in twenty
one tour where you're doing twenty one shows in twenty
one days.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
That is so cool what you guys are doing. How
did that come about?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
It is definitely chaotic, but it's it's very fun. We
had created this tour idea. Our manager kind of came
to us. He was like, yo, like, let's just put
together this tour. Twenty one show was twenty one days,
but like what if some of them we don't even
have books, Like let's just like show the whole process.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
Like we just thought like, oh, we'll just do it
and you know, like we'll reach out to people and
if people know that we're coming and like like we're
gonna be there anyways. Like we've had so many people
that I didn't think would reach out or say anything,
like fans who have made it their mission to like
go and pitch us and find places for us.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
That is so.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
Like we never thought that that would happen. Our fans
helped make that happen like and they were a part
of putting that together. And it's like a cool thing
that I don't know if anyone has ever successfully done it.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
How has it been working on new music? When are
you dropping more singles? When can we expect them?
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I have a long answer to your short question, and
that is we started this thing called Coastcards this year
where we're basically going to these different locations each month
and then we are putting out four releases of months
in that location. Is our promise or fans, this thing
called Coastcards, we basically our own brands about. You know,
(04:55):
our slogan is here to the best times we haven't
had yet. And I think for us, we always associated
our favorite music, you know, the guys that inspired us
as at We've always associated them with just good memories
in our life, right like when we were teenagers and
all the fun things that kind of came along with that,
And we wanted people to have those similar memories to
our music, because that's where I feel like music has
(05:16):
this powerful representation in their life, especially when it comes
to Nostalgip.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
So amazing that you guys are doing four.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Months or weeks and says that's sixteen new releases. It's
a lot. It's a lot of stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
So if you're not tired of us yet, we are
going to work our butts off to make sure you
are exhausted on us.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, we definitely won't be. I cannot wait too. And
you guys been making music for a few years now.
How did you guys actually meet?
Speaker 6 (05:42):
We're both from kind of the same hometown, not really
like we're like twenty minutes away from each other, but
we didn't know each other. We met in college, as
you could probably assume we met in a frat because so.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well, since I spoke to your friends the other day,
to friends and they said some leve about you.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
You guys met, they probably didn't tell the story right
about how you you didn't use the or used an
underage ID to try and get another show dedication.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
We would send them disclaimers, don't recommend for anything.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
We would send them like these funny emails. We would
send just the just the most unprofessional emails you've ever
seen in your entire life. That was the secret. We
would basically send these jokes that were just so far
out that they would and they liked it. Now, we
also sent that same exact template to emails to all
these other artists to see if they would listen to music,
(06:34):
and they did not like that. They so they would
always send a joke back. So it was like this
thing like unwritten rule that we did well. We would
always tell each other a joke at the end of
every email. I don't know why and how that happened,
but that was the basis of our friendship.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Well, I'm going to wrap it round them. Questions for you,
what is your favorite show to.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
