SPEAKER_00 (00:01):
Here's my prediction with artificial intelligence and
how it's going to impact theworkplace.
You know, we tend to createthese very, for lack of better
description, very clear, veryblack and white, very non-gray
analogies of what's going tohappen.
And you hear people say, well,AI is going to replace
everything.
No, it's not.
AI is not going to paint theinside of your house.

(00:23):
It's not going to probably serveyou food.
And it's not going to haveconversations with employees
without employees havingconversations with each other.
Yet at the same time, AI isgoing to move into our companies
faster and faster.
It just is.
It is in mine.
And so with that being said, wehave to ask ourselves, you know,
where is this all headed?

(00:44):
And I think AI is going toprompt in our industry the
greatest need for human-basedcoaching conversations than
ever.
Let me tell you why.
If AI is going to be sent to aleader, and that leader is told,
two of your people need to bereallocated in the company or

(01:05):
potentially their jobs areterminated or are going to
dramatically change due to theimplementation of artificial
intelligence.
Something just happened.
The leader now has to have twovery tough conversations with
two employees.
The flip side of that, theemployees have to receive those
conversations well.

(01:25):
Because quite frankly, they'renot going to have the time to
fight and complain and pushback.
And I don't want to.

(02:02):
Now let's take that scenario anddissect it a little further.
What if that leader has not beencoaching?
You know, the proverbial, Idon't have time to coach.
And they don't have the trust ofthose employees.
They don't have the mind sharein the heart of their employees.
What's going to happen in thatmoment?

(02:24):
Now let's flip that coin.
And let's say we have a leaderwho schedules his or her time on
a regular basis and isconstantly, you know, focusing
on the positives of theemployees, they will have better
opportunity, greater momentum inthat relationship to improve the

(02:46):
employees' chances of adaptingto artificial intelligence than
someone who's not coaching.
See the first scenario where theleader doesn't have the
relationship, doesn't scheduletime, doesn't coach, all they're
going to be perceived as doingis delivering bad news.
Whereas the second leader who'scoaching is going to do what?
This is a continuation of whatwe're already talking about.

(03:07):
And I think every leader wouldbe absolutely required to have
conversations of flexibility,adaptability, and the
embracement of change as abyproduct of whatever they're
coaching to.
If we're not coaching to thesethings, guess what's going to
happen?
It's going to feel like badnews.

(03:29):
It's going to feel like adisruption.
It's already going to feel thatway.
So how are leaders going to dothis?
They have to be coaching.
Now, if a leader on the flipside or additionally, the next
wave wants AI to do all thecoaching because they're so
busy, but wait a minute.
Isn't AI saving you time?
Don't you have more time tocoach?

(03:49):
So what's going to happen ispeople are going to have these
reactions at multiple levelswithin an organization.
So just the rollout of AI isgoing to be important.
And what we have to realize isthose conversations, if they're
new coaching conversations, ifthey're new conversations the

(04:10):
leader has to deliver and theyhaven't been coaching, get
ready.
Because it's going to be verydisruptive inside that
workplace.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
