In Episode 76 Jamie walks us through various research-based parenting strategies that could help parents, caregivers, and even educators. Learn about her experiences as a parent and how she took her education and work with coaches into her own hands later becoming a parenting coach herself. Jamie was born in Alaska and grew up in the Pacific Northwest where she still resides. She was raised as an only child but has 7 siblings on her father's side. Jamie grew up in an emotionally volatile home and when she became a parent herself, she noticed she was starting to repeat some of the same patterns she experienced as a child in her parenting techniques. She decided to break that pattern and sought out coaching as a way to learn new techniques. She never expected the transformation she experienced, leading her to become a certified coach. Coaching parents to improve themselves and their relationship with their children has become her life's passion. Today Jamie is a certified parenting coach who helps parents find their confidence to be empowered, aware, and more informed. She will help you eliminate power struggles, yelling, and common coercive tactics to gain compliance (threats, bribes, etc.) and help you increase connection and cooperation with your child. Her coaching approach is a mix of compassion and understanding, the latest in evidence-based research in brain science and attachment, and a little humor. Jamie believes that loving our children is the easiest, most natural thing in the world, but parenting our children can sometimes be challenging and doesn't come as naturally to everyone. She wants every parent to get the support, guidance, and advice they need and deserve to experience more joy in their parenting journey. Resources from the Interview 1.
