Speaker 1 (00:42):
Fred Smooth, the Legend. I'm Michael Jenkins. Hey do it man, man,
I'm good brother. How about yourself? I'm doing well? How
do you feel Christmas Day? We haven't talked about this
triple header in the NFL Commanders and the Cowboys Northwest had.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
There are a lot of people gone different ways, Like
you like Christmas Day having football?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Of course you do.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I say, I'm a football head. It ain't no day.
You can't give it to me like I want it.
I think it's the best of our time. Now I
have to that you brought this up. I gotta get
disco some love.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Okay, all right? This this go off off the X
formerly known as Twitter.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Okay, all right, he said, With the Commander is playing
at home on Christmas. Some fans are going to have
to make some life decision. It's true, all men are
gonna be trying to get to this game. Yes, I
don't know if all moms are, but those.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Men, a lot of them have families and mom is
probably ruling the roofs.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
So is it gonna be some decisions have to be made?
Yes on Christmas because I feel like it's a dad hm.
Where we really get get get up from is watching
our kids open them gifts.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah and be happy. Sure.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I hate to report the news to you. The kids
don't get happy like they used to. You know what
we got when we got man, We was calling friends.
I buy my kids the best gifts and they like,
thanks Dad.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
That's it. I'm like, I just want a little bit more.
You know what I'm saying. So are you getting them? Like?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Hey, it's an industrial size cheese and crackers.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Know what I'm saying. And the game is at one o'clock.
If you're a smart parent, this is how you do things.
Let your kids open the gifts at midnight, That's what
I do. And let them open the kid open the parents,
I mean at midnight. That gives you time to have
Christmas breakfast. And by one o'clock you in Northwest Stadium

(02:43):
with your own boys and did the same exact.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Thing that you did.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Pass this along to father, the father, the father, we
open the presence at midnight.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I'll meet you at Northwest Stadium eleven o'clock. Let's be honest.
It's Washington Cowboys. Let's start there. It's Christmas. The world
is watching.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
They're watching a single handedly take Christmas away from the
NBA lebron and Neams step for Neams.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
What you gonna have?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Oh, I was just gonna say, I think you might
be surprised by how many families want to go to Northwest.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Stadium because it might be a present.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Christmas present, and what better than to like cap off
your Christmas Day with a game at Northwest Stadium watching
Commanders beat the Cowboys?

Speaker 1 (03:30):
How about that? No, I'm with that.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
But for the guys that don't get there as a
present or ladies, our ladies that don't get there as
a prison for this tickets to the game, they're sitting
at home wrecking their brain figuring out how to get there, Like,
how do I make this? How do I make this
work without getting divorced? Like there's the big thing, Like
how do I do I do this? Why do we

(03:53):
both a lawsuit against me?

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
How do we both win here? Yes? And I just
gave you the blueprint. I just gave you the to
what needs to happen. Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
At the end of the day, none of us is perfect,
but Christmas can be a perfect.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Day for us all. He's got a plan for it.
Everybody can get what they want.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Like and I can say this, man, your present giving
this Christmas gonna dictate in and you go to the game.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
You're gonna step it up. You got to spell a
little lecture.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
You'll be very thoughtful if you want to break free
for the rest of that day. Your gift giving has
to be impeccable. Your gift given has to breede ground shaking.
All right, she been asking for that cop for the
last five years.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
You need to pull it in the driveway.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Don't say I got you those house shoes. You want it,
It's not gonna fly. That ain't gonna do it this year.
That ain't going to do it this year. Like you're
going to have to take it to the max. If
you take it to the mix, everything else will be forgiven.
I've seen that work.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh man, it's exciting.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Nonetheless, my boys, Commander's Christmas Day unbelievable. How about dynamic
duos in the NFL, because we have our own in
JD five and Terry mclaun all right, we do as
we know, and now Diebo's here, so that's gonna be huge.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
But you know JD five and a pure receiver.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Talking about Terry mcain, we're talking about the best dynamic
duos right now in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
So we'll see a lot of these guys. Are we
going as great quarterback in a wide receiver? Are we
going quarterback in a running back? Because the best duo
quarterback running back to me is Lamar Jackson and Jarre
Henry and Derrick Henrtt Nope, it could be Jalen Hurts.
Just take one, Balker, I would say quarterback receiver. All right,
let's go quarterback receiver.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Let's do both quarterback receiver and quarterback running back both.
Yeahs your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
It's it's hard to beat Burrow and Joey b and
jamar Are you're talking about one of the best quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Could be the best receiver for coming the MVP this season?

Speaker 3 (05:50):
All right, Let's just say Joe Burrow's top three, Okay,
Jami Chase is one, He's two.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
At worst at worst at worst? All right, so who
could even compared to that? Would you? Would you say
Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown? I mean AJ lifts him.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Jalen is a very good quarterback, but I don't consider
him an elite arm.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
All right, all right, all right, so would you go
Mahomes and Kelsey?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
You can't speak me football with that Mahomes Kelsey? Uh
but at this time, which Kelsey? I we get that's true.
That's a good point. And so and all right, well,
Josh Allen got a running mate?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Uh no, Khalil Mack not really no, because they just
put it all on Josh. I guess so would.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
It be larn Z Flowers as that there, yet he
got very good at the end of last year.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, that's not right, really there, Yeah, it ain't really there.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
I would have to say that the peak two might
be Burrow in Jama Chase. Yeah, and you're not gonna
get J. J. McCarthy and and Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
The chain, I mean Justin automatically elevates.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
But we haven't seen JJ McCarthy pay a down and
we have not, so you I feel like you can't
put them in the conversation when you haven't played it
down to pro football.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Saint Brown Jared Goff of the monros st Brown is
a good one, all right. What about the Rams?

Speaker 3 (07:15):
What about Mettthew Stafford, Pookah and now they have their
Dente Adams. That's pretty solid right there. Now, I've been
to say Now it's it's some dudes out here, That's
all I'm saying. I. Uh, you got Maron Harrison, Junior,
Kyler murn, you got m C. J.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Scrod and uh and.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Uh oh h what's well, no Stefan left Stephan unless
they got the big they got the other big receiver
Tank Nope, from Michigan.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I'm drawing to blank too. Don't worry. It must be
these margeritas we drink. These drinks are had this last.
You know it could be.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
But uh, where would you put jack Seed?

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Oh? I think you know I'm a bulldog, right, I
do know, and Dak is my bulldog brother. So you
don't hear me really say bad things about that.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I mean Thatak is a very good quarterback, not great yet, right,
He's not elite, a very.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Good quarter very good quarterback, and I think that what
brings them.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Down a pig. His playoff failures are really what brings
him down.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Can't go without saying, because our quarterback being here for
one year, I already got more quarterbacks win, I mean
playoff wins, already got deep into playoffs, is already there.
So I ain't giving Dak no excuse on that one.
But I think they ranked pretty. I think they'll be
top ten when you say, yeah, absolutely top ten. But
I think their way stops at I think that's that's
where the bus stops at.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
But it's a lot of good parents out here.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
But I think when it comes to running back, it
gets no better than Jalen Hurts and say Kuon Barkley
and Lamar Jackson and Derry Henry.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I feel like those are top two of the bullet Like.
That's what out saying.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Like nobody else can compare to the Night's some moll
the good running backs out there, People be like, why
not just in Love? I mean, uh Love in Green Bay?
And uh Jacobs Jacobs Jacobs, Like Jacob is one of
the better running backs in the last Jacobs.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah. So it's it's hard to say. Now you're yet
what about Michael Pennox and b John Robinson b.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Jeon for sure, but don't need more of a sample
size on Michael Pennix Jr.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
We do, but I think could be I can say,
if you're looking ahead, yep, right there, Bucky Irvin help,
Yes he can't.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
I mean, what about Baker and Mike Evans? Why not
Baker and Mike That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
That's another night. Mike Evans is Hall of Fame, He's
a Hall of famer, and I love Baker, Bacob Baker.
The touchdown made me. I don't like him obviously. With
Oklahoma Dog, I understand.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
I remember when he he, uh.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Grab that thing, you're stuck it in there? We took
the flag and got it. Now, I'm just saying he's
Oklahoma throwing through. Yes, Yes, he's Oklahoma throw and through.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
All I'm saying is I love Baker because he's that
little engine that could. And I'm always pulling for debt
football player. So we got Jeremy Reeves coming up. I
said that, Oh my god, listen, I love me some
Jermin Reves.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
What just a class ACKed all the way around, just
a stud football player, good energy.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Yeah, the space and bills? Is it me playing the bill?
You know, drinks on me? M w a A.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
We don't travel to escape life. We travel so life
doesn't escape us. We dream of in the place anywhere

Gambler Colorado University.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Hey, hey what then Colorado?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
I had to laugh about this because you know how
you're just scrolling up there the ig yes, scrolling up
there and there that the Facebook, the Book of Faces whatever,
and then Colorado was the Oklahoma that that turned over
the wagon.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Oh that's what. We don't have a wagon. We have
a buffalo. Sometimes people do like lose.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
I think the buffalo. Somebody let Ralphie go one time
on accident, so like only one person was like hanging
on the ragon. It's pretty funny, like it sounds like
no one was hurt. But we have some pretty funny
like Ralphie mishaps. But this Ralphie is like a little
bit small.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
She is she girl, she is, yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Because if you do if you do a boy Ralphie,
like it's already like a little risky with like.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
You know what, live mascots they're the best.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
No, they're not listen to me, Ralphie, I'm sorry, Ralphie
was the best part of football games when we were bad.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
That's the missed part of you'll game that says everything.
What I'm saying is, Lis, you got this thing with
the tiger they got yeah, and when you played him
as the opposing team, they pushed the cage by your door,
so you walk out to doing it's a tiger right there.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
But also you, Jakeson, you can't be all about the lives.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
When I see beaver, if I get hyped, I'm like,
man but evil, off those meds and let him go
after somebody.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
But guess but he livestock. There's something that we're we domesticated.
There's something that we're a form of.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Churches was rescued. For the record, she was a rescue.
Her mother abandon her mother abandoned her, so we saved her.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Yeah, So anyways, that's a good thing we did. We
got a bulldog, right, bull Bully is our guy. It's
already a domesticated dogs.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
It's the wild animals that I think I have a
problem with.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
What if you had a wild animal as one of
your mascots. Are I still be like, no, I mean
it's kind of awesome. You're like, look at that.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
No, No, I'm gonna tell you what really threw me
out in the sec Were.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Going to play Auburn, Right, I'm like, yeah, tigers.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
They're like, no, war eagle, Like, how many mascots you
got this? You know, pre game eagles down into the stadium.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
The dude catches it on his own. They start chatting
water like what what am I? What am I seeing
right here?

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Let that eagle free? That ain't even y'all mascot. Y'all
are tigers. Now, if you Florida and you happen to
have a gator, I find that very similar to the longhorn. Right,
your your survivor of surrounding, say, this animal gonna be
with people regardless if you like it or not.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
So I don't feel like, think about.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
If Georgia Tech just had a hive of Walsh yellow jackets. Oh, Michael,
that's the that's the just let them loose, hope, not alert,
just just yellow jackets everywhere.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
So at one point we have to stop this.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
I just think within reason, it's a great addition, it's
a great addition within reason, that's experience.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
It's it's so unique to college football. All right, what
if Oregon had a duct don't they that'd be cute.
That'd be cute. They probably do that. I have never
seen organ put it out of duck.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
All right now, I alright, man, mascots versus animals?

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Who's this? Animals?

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I enjoy the usc trojan dude that come out there
and stick that. They show it, and I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it. What I'm saying, You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
I mean if I when I see hook them like
the guy in a mascot and he's like, oh, let's
go horns, I'm like, okay, that's cool. But then when
I see a guy score a touchdown and he runs
close to beble and he's like, I gotta slow down.
This guy might kill me standing in the chest.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
I'm like, that's the horns are like, yeah, they're out there,
all right. I see Texas A and M come on
the they have a dead dog scoreboard.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
You know that, right? They got what when people you know,
it's caught on in the past few years. Texas look
this up.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
They have they have a collie right right, so they
have I swear to god. This is why people think
texting him is such a colt, which of course I
do think it is.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah, but they have a graveyard with all of the dogs.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
The revel as are buried, and they keep a scoreboard
up during games so that the dead dogs can keep
track of how A.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
And M is doing during a game. No wonder, y'all
beat them all the time. It's a little weird, yes, sir,
that's strange. I totally understand.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
It's weird when I have to play against Georgia and
they like, here go bully, and they be like, here
go uggly right who got.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Like are you just talking because you don't like I'm
like yes. But also it's weird. Yeah, listen, I understand.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
But I respect Clemson because they don't have a tiger
on they cap.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Oh do they not? I mean, I know LSU does.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Alice, she was the only one with a live tiger,
Like nobody else has a laugh tiger.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
She was a crazy Luis have a bear, small bear,
very small black.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
They should not have it.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
They should have like a full grown like that. Should
not have a bear. They should not have a bear.
They're just like playing South Carolina and they bring out
a rooster.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Do they bring out a rooster? No, they don't. Now
they might have one, you know.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
They the game Cocks. Yeah, Tennessee volunteers, and they got
the old hound dogs. They got the like we can
go own and own about these masks, scots, worst mascot
in college. I hate to do this in Virginia Tech.
I hate to do this. I hate to do this.
I know I live in they backyard.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I don't do it. Don't do it, don't do it,
not get to it, don't do it. I'm gonna do it.
I churk this out. The Hokies the worst. First of all,
you're gonna get so much.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I can imagine being a football player, and I want
you to feel the turkey. The turkey can't bring us together.
I can't bean with a bunch of brothers. You know,
let's bring together because we are dogs. Like when we
say dogs and miss think we are dogs. I got
dog inside of me. What is the turkey gonna do?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
What? Like?

Speaker 3 (17:53):
It's not threatening, it's not threatening, like what if I
college will be like if you come in my yard, JINX,
I gonna let this turkey out on you, you know
what doing my yachts do break down. He don't care
about no turkey. All I'm saying is who said from
his fourth our Mad Scott will be a turkey. I

(18:16):
don't know a game bird, not even an eagle, like
not not what not not a vulture. I would have
took a vulture. A voture is a dangerous bird. I
would have took a crane even that. Even the man
and hurricane Crane look cooler than that turkey.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
At what point do we hit this feeling? I say,
you know what, God, I'm gonna do this for the turkeys.
At no point.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
The only one that I know physically that's worse than
Virginia Tech is in Mississippi.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Okay, death to State and you will never guess they man.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
I don't know that to fighting Okrah, the Okrah they
got an Okrah with his hands up like that, the
fight o crub deal. State is the only one that
I found worse than Virginia Tech.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Do you see Metallica play Inner sam Men at Lane Stadium.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I understand the end of the Sadman. I understand that,
but I don't think that's gonna bring me together they
can't bring freaking cool man.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
I read I ridle be a cavalier.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Oh my god, guys, let's talk about seat Geek for
a second.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Oh yeah, Jimmy Reeves coming up here.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yes, so you know, if you're not, if you're not
into the Virginia Tech hate, you can get into the
love for Jimmy Reeves.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Oh you're gonna get into comments. They feel how I feel.
They just won't say nothing. Tell them Fritz Mooth, since
tell them friends.

Speaker 2 (19:46):

With the great Jamie Reeves. Let's do it look at
this Yeah, Special guests all nowhere.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
How about this all pro Jeremie, appreciate you one of
my favorites. Get. I would say this is a fan favorite.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
How does it feel to be I feel like if
you are a special teams leader, like that's one of
the ultimate signs of respect because anyone who plays the
game knows the game knows. Oh if you're doing it
on special teams, you're a football, it don't matter.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
So if you could be one of the best out
of the group, yeah, it makes you special.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
No doubt.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
It's a it's an honor man, and you know, it's
a kind of equate it to like just you know,
the common world, right. It's like I think that's why
everybody kind of identifies with it because it's no different
like a nine to five. You gotta make sure of
everybody from different backgrounds, different places, and now you got
to work together to make you know, things work. So
like it's it's kind of no different than like, you know,
what the everyday person goes through in their life. So

(21:12):
I think it's a cool experience to just be able
to go out there and lead a great group of men,
you know, towards a come and go.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
The funny they got to live about the special teams
coach because I had Danny Smith who's at Pittsburgh now.
He was my special ten coach and I was in
there talking to Danny one day. He like, you know
what specialen coaches we should get all the love.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
I like, why you say that? He say, think about it.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Offensive coaches they deal with thirty five players, right, Defensive
coaches deal with thirty five player. We deal with sixty
five players and all the personalities and we axcellent to
do something that they probably don't want to do. So
I always said my special team coaches they have to
be more people person than the rest of the coach.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
How you feel about those facts.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
That's facts you got to be able to as a
specialtist coach. And it's does a great job of it now.
Snarter too, like you have to be able to relate
to the entire team, Yeah, not just a singular group
on the team. Right, Like it's so many different personalities, right,
Like you have a field goal block meeting and then
you got to field goal meeting, then you go to
kickoff off returns and then like it's two totally different

(22:13):
bodies too, totally Like on kickoff I'll be next to
a tight end. Yeah, right, and then on the other side,
I got like a live back, you know what I'm saying. So,
like you got all different types of people, personalities, and
it's all blending into one thing. So the leader of
that group definitely has to have a sense of you know,
you got to be personal, you gotta be able to
mix with everybody. And like that's part of our job too,

(22:34):
is the players. It's like we also got to be
able to do that too.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Here go. Thing I love about it.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
I've watched y'all go from some dark time to some
bright time, right, Like, how does that transition feel? Because
I have been in this building where we just we
won good at a certain time, but we're still fighting,
were still fighting, you know, things just ain't going our way.
And I've been in here when we had some good
times and we on the roll and can't nobody stop us.
Take us through that transition and kind of get a

(23:01):
fan base just to look inside of emotionally house, To me,
it was draining.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
I kind of talked about it a little bit in
the little article I did for a player tribute, but
like in a short, it's like conn explanation of it yeah,
you know the title said it all. It was long
tonal right, Like yeah, like that's just what it a
in a you know, you know what I'm saying, But

(23:27):
that's like what it is.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Man.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
It's like I've been here since twenty eighteen, right, so
like this is my third coaching staff, it's my second owner,
it's my second GM, your third name, third team name, right,
Like I've been through We've had thirty quarterbacks probably in.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
That time frame.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Yeah, So like I've seen it all, right, I've seen
every ebb and flow of here. Right, So I've experienced
the really bad where I've won two games and then
I just was experienced a twelve one season, right. Yeah,
So it's like the emotional toll of the early.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Part was draining.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
Like you said, it's tough, man, because it's like the
competitor in me is going to show up and fight
every day, like that's just how I'm built.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
But you're not getting rewarded. Right.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
But it's like you show up and you consistent, you
keep doing the same thing every day, and you're not
getting rewarded, and then like you gotta still come up
here the next day and do that same routine over again.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Emotionless, right.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
So it's like I remember, like going home and this
off season compared to the last, like the previous off season,
like I would be drained those previous off seasons, like mentally, physically, spiritually.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
I have to take time off and get away from family,
get away from all of it.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
You go into that like that came to you're just
looking out of it.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
You don't see number two eyes.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Right, And this off season like it was different, like
it was a different or I remember going back home
and everybody was like, man, y'all, one game away from
the you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Big game. You pissed me off.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I feel you manners away from the biggest game a'm
in your life, Like I understand, but I can see
where you say the difference is like we duck our
head to just you know, I just want to be alone,
trying to figure this out.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
And then you get home and they're putting you on
their shoulder and.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
That's addictive, like that, that's addictive to watch them.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Watch you in the biggest show of your life.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Hundred percent. I mean I have my entire my entire
time pretty much watching the NFC Championship game, Like everybody.
I'm the only one that's playing at that time that's
from there. So like that it was a cool experience
to like just be in that moment, right and just
be able to experience that moment I never experience. That's
the biggest game of my life.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Yeah, I ain't had a game this side, right. I
got to the first level. We got to the first
level of the playoffs. Always end up battling with either
Tempa a Seattle, right, and we end up losing those games.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
So I never transitioned to the NFC Championship. Take us there,
take us into, take us to Detroit. We'll show it there.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
That was probably the most entertaining game that I've played in,
and I ain't have Like I had a slow game.
Boys was eating like the Boys was eating. But like
you know, like that's one of them games where you
just kind of like you sit back and you just
take it all in. Like, man, I had to go
through all that and throw over those years to get
to this moment right.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Here, right here, right here, And like you've ever been
in the game where.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
You just walk into a week and you just like
we're gonna win this game.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Been it was never nervous.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
It was never never like never like it was just
like that was probably the most calm, cool, collected our
team has been the whole year. And part of the
reason why is because nobody thought we was gonna be
there for one and second, like nobody thought we would
win that game.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, because Detroit was annoying it one.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
Right, and it's like the saying that we have you know,
anybody anywhere anytime. Yeah, that's where that come into play.
It don't matter who it is, where it's at what time.
It is just like, this is what we're gonna do,
this is who we are. And so man, I remember
just sitting back, I'm chilling, Man, I'm like, man, like,
we're about to win, like win, win this game. Yeah,

(27:00):
and just to go out there and win in that
fashion going into the NFC Championship game. You couldn't have
told me we were going to the Super Bowl, I
promise you. I remember, Like that was the toughest part
about it because you play so strong the week before
and it's like, yeah, you can't tell.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Me we ain't gonna we ain't gonna finish what we stole.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
And so like the most disheartening part about that was like,
once we got to an NFC championship game Washington tape,
it seemed like the moment was too big for us.
And that was the most frustrating part because it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
I don't feel it was too big. It wasn't.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
It wasn't from from Washington table. It looks like it was,
but it wasn't. Man, we just didn't play our normal
stall of football. And then like in the games like
that where they really matter, every possession, that everything matters,
you can't have blow up games like that. You can't.
It's just not that's not what.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
You can't win like that, but you got I think
when you look at it, when you can step back
and take the motion out of it, you look at
a team that Philip Differ had just been there the
year before, the year before that, we was the new
kids on the block this year. When I look at
this schedule, yeah, this is rich Man problems right here.
This is what you get when you win twelve games eight.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
We got five place.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
I think we got five or six prime time games,
but we got two tbds A.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Right. So basically.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
I got to ask you about this because you going
to Madrid, Spain. I hear you don't really like flights.
How you looking forward to that flight aside?

Speaker 5 (28:35):
I'm excited, man, Like it'll be my first time. My
fiance trying to get me to go out of country
for the past two years and I'm like, man, listen,
I ain't trying to take that flight.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
I can't do it.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
But this will be the first time I go out
of the country. This will be the first time I
actually experienced a different ex experienced the world, a different
side of the world that I've been used to seeing.
I've been West coast and East coast, being you know, northwest,
So like this would be the first time I actually
go get to see the world and go see different
people different Yeah, And I'm excited about it, man, because

(29:08):
it's like that's a that's a trip that like, hey,
it's a free trip that not everybody gets to do it.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Yeah, and I get to do.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
It doing the thing that I love to do, right,
So like that's a win winn in itself. Yeah, you know,
so I'm excited. I'm looking forward to it. They're gonna
have to give me something.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
That they're gonna have to knock you out and wake
you up.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
Yeah, They're gonna have to man, that's that's what that's in.
That's in mid season. We eleven week twelve.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah, yeah, it's got you got time to prepare.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
It's gonna be windy here, what I mean that flight
out of here is gonna be bumpy and then we
gotta fly across some a whole bunt of water.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Yes, I think it's like a I think nineteen hours
and you just went nine ten hours.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
How long is the flight you just left Madrid? It's
not a bad.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Okay, Okay, that made me feel a little better.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Let me ask you this because when you're talking about
a Madrid game, you're talking about prime time games. This
is something that a year ago would not have been
a thought. A lot of that has to do a
culture in DQ and what he set. Talking to coach
Simmons a couple of days ago and he said something
I thought was really interesting, which is, yeah, the culture set,
but now the players handle that. We passed that on
to the younger kids. What does that look like now
that you guys are all on the same page.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
Uh, you know, we set our standard, right, we have
a commander's way of doing things like, we have our
own mantra of like this is how we're gonna get down, right,
And so when we get rookies in, when we get
new guys that come in, like the guys that have
been here, which was the cool part about it. And
I told Q this when I came back. I was like, Man,
it's doube that we kept the core yeah we built

(30:41):
last year here because now you have just the piggyback
effect that Okay, yeah we've set this last year and
all of the guys who pretty much said it are
still here. All right, now we're gonna Now we don't
have to teach it to a bunch of new people. Now,
we just implement what we already know at tweets to
it whatever. So like when we have that standard like

(31:02):
this is how we get down, you either get with
it or you just won't be here. That's just what
it is like, and that's how we operate, right, And
so it's an accountability thing. And like once we have
that leadership, those guys that step into that bro right now,
the coaches this player mandated the best team, and that's
what you want. The best teams that I've ever seen

(31:24):
been on experienced have always been player ran the guys
who run the locker room hold each other accountable because
you know, like if your god next to you is
hold your accountable. It's not personal. We're all trying to win.
The winning in this business helps everybody. People get jobs,
people get paid, Like it's just the effect them. It's

(31:46):
so like understanding that I'm not telling you this to
attack you. I want you to win.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
This is the best way forward for everybody, and like.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
Me, especially like I had to get it in this
league the hard way, Like I want the next man
to not have to earn it the way I had
to earn it. So if I can give you some
free game, and it's just like, hey, this is how
we get down and that sets you up in a
better position than I was in and I'm I did
my job. I'm happy with that, right because bigger picture wise,

(32:16):
if I'm helping him, he's helping us.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
So that's like that's the cool part about like when
you get to that space now where it's like player ran,
it's like understanding that every guy's got your best interest
and like I want you to win just as bad
as you want to win. Right, even though we're competing,
we're going against each other. It might be the same
guy in my room. We might be competing for a job. Yeah,
but like listen, like if I can make maximize you

(32:39):
to get you to your full potential, then like we're
going to be at full potential and like we're going
to go further, you know. So like that's the cool
part about this business. That's probably different from every other job. Right,
it's competition, but like it's right, yeah, but the endgame
is the same. Egos aside, pride to side, Take all

(32:59):
that out of it. Man, we're trying to win.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
I want to win.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I care about winning more than I care about statastics
and Pro Bowls and any of all that other stuff.
Winning takes care of everything d q S had all
the time.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Like that's the fact, Hey, when when something stink, winning
is the deodorant.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
That just that's just what it is.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
And this and H goes like when I look at
this schedule, it says, y'all won last year. So now
everybody want to see the new toy right now. One
game that me and Jinks didn't we've been going back
and forth by it's the Christmas game because of course
Jinks don't want to work there all I see is
that stop power like that that means the world is
watching you and.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
It's against the cowboy. It's against the the damn cowboard.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Hey, he feels like because you're a big NBA guy,
you feel like it's like this is old it's his
old head talk to it.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
It used to be like Christmas, you know, but the.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
NFL take over the nflis was better last year.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
I Roger Joe what he's doing. You say what you want,
but he's slowly taking over again. Everything. That's like that's
how Lebron got on camera. He's like just so you know,
like the NBA has still belong to you know, it doesn't.

Speaker 5 (34:11):
Okay, man, listen, the world want to see football you
and there's not wrong with that. Yeah, you know what
I'm saying, Like just what it is, you know, like
you gotta Daniels playing on a Christmas Day or have
my homes all the more.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Yeah, people want to watch that. Open my prid, eat
my food and watch these guys play.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
December. December is playing football anyway, Yeah for sure, that's
that's a fact. So like most of the time those
games matter a little a little bit more. Yeah, So yeah,
people don't want to watch that.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I mean, but because Jas would be somewhere watching forty
years old with you. Yeah. Yeah, that's the thing about it.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
So I know it's it's too early to say this,
but on game day when you had to stay in
the room, I wonder this coach's gonna let y'all kind
of be a twiner at home because he Now.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
I guarantee you, I guarantee you. I know how I'll
probably go the day before. It will be Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas,
he will be Christmas all right, all right, Well, open
gifts because my fiance will probably work Christmas Day knowing
that I wil be, well, she won't because we play.
She definitely won't work. So we'll probably do Christmas Day,
Christmas Eve and then go to the hotel after and
we'll stay there and then we'll play. And then I mean,

(35:22):
what time is a game Christmas Day?

Speaker 1 (35:23):
It's probably no, it's a it's a one o'clock game.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Okay, So you got Christmas, six o'clock o'clock, Christmas, Christmas
christ you still get Christmas.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
And you know, if Sam I'm bringing off WS, I'm
fine with it.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
Listen, I'm good with that. Okay, I did not have
a gift on a tree. If I got a w
that's a gift for me.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
This bar Actually that was a when you look ahead,
like and you still have a lot of football to play.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
But I feel like you are someone serious who has
something to say, and players name recognition or not don't
always have something to say, Like, oh, you have something
to say of some insight that I really want to
listen to.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
Is that something you've thought about way down the line as.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Far as insights to being part of the media.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
No, no, yeah, most definitely this job waiting on you.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
Man, I got to I've been told twice I need
to get media a and I've been told I need
to be a coach. I've crossed that.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Let me help you Jay the coaching thing, because of
course I allways get.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Approached after football, aby coach. I told him.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Coaching is more time than playing right now, So are
you willing to devote their time now? The one thing
about the media, we get to talk about a game.
It's a lot easier to talk about a game before
after doing new podcasts than it is to coach. I
think the coaching is a very intense time laboring thing.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Like you say, cross that thing. We get there.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
But when I was playing, I was already telling the
media I'm coming. I hope y'all know one of your jobs.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
We knew that for sure. Soon this smooch's done. The
next day, I'm coming. I'm coming to talk.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
I really I don't know many. I definitely got the
personality to do it. Yes, you do, and my parents
paid for all that school for me to go be
able to talk in front of the camera. But it's just, man,
I don't know, man, what I've thought about a lot.
I think my biggest thing is I'm probably gonna I
told to my you're talking about, I probably go home,
back home and coach high school ball, like we feel
like the kids need it now more.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
So like from somebody that didn't walked it, talked it,
understood it.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
That's where everything leading to right now.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Yeah, most definitely, definitely, we'll see, we'll see, we'll convene here.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
Years. You've got options.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Let's say what, man, it's been a real pleasure. Thanks
for stopping by, the best of luck this season. We'll
talk to you again.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
You can always tell when you around the DBK. We
just a different breed, Yes, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
Man, appreciate absolutely, thank you.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
I mean, I can't get no better than That's exactly.
They can't get no better than it. I'm sorry. That's
one of the best interviews we had. Yeah, he's great
and he does have a future in the meeting. No,
he's gonna be in theginning. I'm gonna steer him that way.
Absolute star.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
We have a couple of stars, Dan Cole Coole, Ryan Zimmerman. Yes,
coming here next week.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Zim is DC.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Like when you say DC Sports, Zim has to be
on it. Riskmant oh, yeah, he has to be on it.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
I mean to face this franchise from the start, got
his ring as he deserves. Fin say they brought baseball
back to DC. Yeah. Dan's fantastic guy.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
So they'll be here next week and then on the
twenty ninth at the Admiral DuPont Circle.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
As Anna put in the rundown, there will be the
Cunningly challenge. I will be doing this.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
I'll be doing it in front of the fans. I
think I got one more play in the jinks we
will see. This is one of those things that could
not in well, I'm telling people this could not in
with it's not easy. You might not have get laughed
for two weeks after that. That's all I'm saying, Like,
this is not automatic, right. I saw someone say, oh,

(38:58):
this is easy, and they just got up off the news.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
I'm like, no, no, no no no no no no
no no no, you got papa up, You got a
papa and start to move backwards.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Yeah, this is this won't be easy. If I popped
up like my bones might shake, I wouldn't be able
to move back. I'm just asking for prayer, that's it.
I'm just asking for Fred's mood. And you said we might.
We're gonna have merch as well, and maybe you bring
a special guest because it's gonna be a special live show.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
We're gonna bring a special guess most and you got
to be there to see who the guests is.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah, you gotta come to the play.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Got to come out the Admiral DuPont Circle that is
on the twenty ninth a late Pod seven o'clock.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
And I promised that secret guests will not be my
big back friend and shun screens cause it's gonna be
somebody else's.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Gonna be that's gonna do it for this edition, of
the Get Loud podcast. We're gonna see you guys soon.
That's a great press mood.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
I'm Michael Jackens.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
Dude, if you use an
