Speaker 1 (00:12):
What is going on, y'all? This is the Bedown Podcast
Madrid edition, sort of kind of we're getting there. I'm
your host, Senior writer for the Washington Commanders, Zach Selby,
And yes, again we're ripping off a lot of band
aids lately, and we gotta rip off another one because
the Commander's lost to the Detroit Lions forty four to

(00:34):
twenty two. Tough night all around for the defense, I think,
allowing five hundred and fifty plus yards of offense. It
was twenty one to twenty two to three at one point,
and Marcus Mariot comes in there play as well. But
still it was what it was. I mean, there's really

(00:54):
no other way to say it. But look, we're vibing,
y'all because the Commanders are playing in Spain this weekend
against the Miami Dolphins. It is my birthday, so that's
pretty awesome. I just want some some Video Game Convention
tickets that have been sold out for like weeks. I
found I found someone to transfer them for me in
exchange for some cupcakes. We're feeling great right now, and

(01:17):
we're gonna be talking about what's hoping to be the
path to a win for the commanders this weekend and
how are they gonna do that? Well, we're going to
be discussing that today with two members of the Spanish broadcaster.
We have Wigs Leonards and Wander Marrow. Guys, how are
we doing this weekend? Or wait? Yeah, my time was
all myself because I've been in the airport. But you
know what I mean, how y'all doing?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
You know how long I've been waiting to beat down?
So damn, that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's how you start the podcast by saying how you
feel at least after the first question. Man, we're doing
great sight. I mean, it's awesome. We're in Spain, Rando Madrid.
First time here for me, I believe for Juan as well.
I've been to Barcelona in the past, but I've never
been to Madrid and it's been a five star experience

(02:08):
so far. You know, we've done a lot of a
couple of days that we've been here.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah, definitely, it's the first class experience. The NFL and
Real Madrid have rolled out the red carpet for us
and we definitely enjoyed our time here and we're ready
for this game.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
That's coming up on Sundays.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Well, I'm excited to join y'all at some point. I
think I'll be there on the thirteenth at five thirty
in the morning, so early, riser earlier. It look like
I get up at early. Anyway, the jet lag is
going to suck, but that's okay. No matter what, we'll.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Sleep, don't go to sleep, don't go to sleep.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I'll try, I'll try. I love my sleep, but either way,
all right, So onto business. I'll be asking these people
three questions offense, defense, general question at the end points
giving out every winner. There will be a loser. Hopefully
there will not be too much strength between these two.
Once five times episode is over, and always make sure

(03:01):
everyone is listening, be more focused on what they have
what they have to say, rather than my opinion who
wins or loses. Both these guys are going to deliver
great points. They always do every time they're wrong on
the podcast. And with all that said, let's jump right
into it, and we're gonna start off with the big
news right. D Q said that he's going to take
over play calling duties from Joe Witt. He will be
going back up to the tress box and dqbcom plays

(03:22):
from the field and that's going to be hopefully something
that's going to change the defense, right because they have
dripped dramatically to the point where they are rung among
the bottom five, bottom ten in just about every single
category you can think of. And something's got to change
either way, and they cannot. They have to stick inside
it if they cannot lose by twenty one, twenty two,

(03:42):
twenty plus points every week from now only one pun
allout in the last two weeks, and that again, something
that has to change. So what do you guys expect
out of this defense now that DQ is taking over
on the headset here and you know what one we'll
start with.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
You expect a lot more aggressiveness by this defense. I think.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I think Joe Wait has been hesitant to send in
exotic blitzes. He's always in his best conference and said
that we're one of the leading blitzing teams in the league.
You know, he points out at stats. I'm sure you
know that that's correct. But if it's been something that's

(04:26):
still causing problems for you as a defense, that means
that that type of blitz doesn't work. To mean there's
more different types of blitz, safety, blitz, corner, blitz, zone blitz.
There's there's different types of zone schemes that that or
blitz schemes. I'm sorry that should be used, and I
feel like dan Quinn might be able to unlatch a
little bit more from blitzing schemes.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
So there is there are some things with that that,
uh that I want to touch on later. But I
do like the initial points about bringing more pressure because
I think they definitely have to do something to put
pressure all these pusant quarterback, especially with guys like to
who you know, when he's hot, he can be pretty good.
Now more is the same question, what do you expect
out of this defense with d Q on the heads

(05:09):
that call on the play?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Can I just start by saying that I'm looking at
Juan straight in the face, so it's kind of strange.
Usually I'm not looking at my opponent, but today it
is quite different. We're here Madrid just looking at each
other as.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
We answer the questions.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
So let me add to that the fact that he
can only go up from this point moving forward right,
the fact that the commanders are bottom near the bottom
in a lot of these categories. With dan Quinn as
the defensive coordinator, you can only get better. Why do
I say that, Not that I'm trying to dismiss what
skill with during the season, but I think that somebody

(05:46):
less the experience that has the repertoire to up any defense.
I believe that they're gonna get better. Look at what
he did with Seattle, look at what he did with
Dallas as well.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
He turned those those teams around.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Defensively speaking, I feel that I feel that the team's
going to be a lot more motivated and they're going
to have a reason to play.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
They already do, right, They want to end the season.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
They want to kind of make sure that that image
that people have of them this year is not the
one they end up with. We still have a lot
of games left, so I think that with Joe Witt,
perhaps they're gonna get fired up.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
They're going to have a reason to go out there
and perform.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
And I, like I said, I truly believe that with
Dan Quinn as the defensive pointer making the calls, this
defense can only get better.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, there's always something to be said, right about changing
in the guard, getting a little bit of a spark energy.
We see that on a larger scale, right whenever there's
a head coach's lego and in comes in. They always
somehow seem to find a way to win that next
game for whatever reason. So one you brought to bringing
more pressure, and I think that is interesting because again
I said, like, that's something I think they need to do.
But you look at this defense and you have three

(06:54):
year starting defensive ends Al dron Payne on a suspension,
You've got your corner position is decimated through injuries. Trey
Emos is on ir now probably for the end of
the year with it with his fractic fibula. Like, they
have a serious problem in a lot of ways just
because they don't have a lot of bodies out there.
So how do you expect them to bring the pressure?

(07:17):
And how a DQ to call some of some of
these pressures to bring these blitzes whenever you have such
a limited amount of personnel there.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I mean, for me, I think I'd rather go out
at least trying to limit the quarterbacks time in the pocket,
trying tips to limit what Tua can do, which is
armed by cutting the amount of time that he has
to pick for his receivers. Because right now, whatever scheme
that has been run through these last two games, it's

(07:46):
not working and you're not even bringing you know, all
these exotic blitzes. So if you're gonna beat me over
the top with one on one all over the field,
I'd rather it be at least with hundred three seconds
under flore sections of time to the quarterback to throw,
because right now we've seen it, Golf had every.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Possible moment to throw from the pocket with the comfortable pocket.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
This team has been produced and sat two games, so
the pressure is going to be important. I think the
blitz is going to be.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, I don't. I'm not sure what the time to
throw was for for Golf, but it had to have
been up there in terms of some of the best
of the league in a week to week basis right,
because I mean, not only was he having no pressure
at all, it just seems like he was. The players
were just wide open and that's just not a good
recipe for success. Now, moys, that's before we move on.
I want to talk a little bit more about the
corn position that I touched on here. Tram Us obviously out,

(08:43):
probably done for the year. Marshall Lanem we're definitely out
for the year. You've got Jonathan Jones who seems like
he's gonna be maybe okay, but did leave that leave
that game earlier. So what what do you think about
this core position and what can they do with the
limited bodies that they have, whether Monoghany or Mike Samorsill,
how do you what do you think they're going to

(09:04):
do with that position with you know, guys like Waddle
and and all these other Miami have You've got to
fight them up.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
You've got to fire these guys up. You just mentioned
touch on the fact that there's not enough bodies. Players
on the bench are on the bench for a reason, right,
They've been out played by by the start. I truly
believe in that you have a limited squad, your your
best here is to get them fired up, to believe
and what's happening to believe in the fact that you

(09:33):
have to end the season on the high note, right
if you don't make it to the playoffs, And I
believe that in the past, we've seen Dan Quinn and
company kind of just take out the best and players,
and I think you have to tap into that once again.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Some of these players are perhaps not going to play
up to the standard and level that we want them to.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
But he has to make sure that when they're playing
and when they're on the field, they're giving you absolutely
everything that they have because we have no more options,
so you have to play the cards that he dealt with.
And I think that that's why d Q is a
good choice as in stepping in as a defensive coordinator
right because I believe he's the type of coach that
can motivate players and get them to play at a

(10:16):
higher level or a lot more, a lot better than
what they're expected to.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I think so too. If you look at Decy's track
track record right with Dallas, I mean that that defense
was one of the best in the league for however
long he was there. I think with the exception maybe
the first year, then all of a sudden they're leading
the league and turnovers, they're they're just playing well in
every single metric possible. And maybe that's not going to
be a completely realistic expectation, but I do saysting noticeably

(10:42):
better from this defense, especially gets an offense that is
in Miami that has also struggled a little bit here
at times. We'll move on, but before I do, I'm
going to give one the point here, Like the points
he made about the No. Sax and two game, And
I think that's very important, especially like a guy again
into it. Like I said, who's going to really like
when he gets hot? He's a he's a pretty precise
passer of when he and when he's healthy as well.

(11:03):
We'll flip the field and go over to the offense
here because this is the corners are also banged up
on the defense. The wide receivers are also just really
banged up as well. And I think you've got to
get something out of those guys, right. You don't really
know exactly what's gonna be because he's got Diva out there, sure,
but Dylan Lane has been up and down at times,
and Diccaffery is on ir you you've got I mean

(11:26):
Groby chosen his reason come up right. Traylon Burns had
clashed a little bit, but he's also he also didn't
make a strip to Spans. He's gonna be out. And
you look at this group and it's like, okay, like
what do we make of this team?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
As well?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
We make of this unit here And I think no
matter what close case Kingsbury does, he has to find
a way to get some of that pressure off of them.
To kind of make them plays. So, moys, this will
start with you here, and I'm I just want to
want you want to want to know, like what do
you think this that Kingsbury is gonna do to kind
of help these receivers out, because like I said, there

(12:00):
is a little bit of a talent, it be there.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Well, I think you mentioned that right. This is a
team that's very limited as well on the offensive side.
Is it's just unfortunate the fact that the injury bug
has hid Washington so hard this year. But players that
are on the field that normally would not be on
the field have to make the best out of their opportunity.
Talking about Jalen Lane, he had a couple of great

(12:22):
catches last game, But what I want from Jalen is
I want him to be more consistent. We know the
talent's there, we know that he's a great player, but
he has to come up clutch in some of these
plays where he's dropping bass. Like I said, we saw good,
good moments during last game, but we needed to be
on a consistent basis.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
I think that's going to play a big role.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
And this is also an opportunity for a guy like
Robbie chosen who who perhaps would not be in the
NFL if it wasn't for this opportunity. Therefore, I think
that once he comes in, he has to take advantage
of that. And we saw moments like that when we
play Dallas. He had a lot of catches. Unfortunately there
was not much that could be done. So I think
that something that's going to play a big role. And

(13:02):
now I'll move to the running back position. We know
that Chris Rodriguez is going to have a lot more
participation in this game. I think that he's also a
guy that hungry for a chance to prove himself. He's
the type of guy that Kingsbury said he's taking with
the defense is showing him.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
So I think that's a big deal.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
But most importantly Bill right, Bill Krossky Marrit who started
off the season on fire Rookie of the Week averaging
six yards per carry.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
We need to see that version of that guy.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
We haven't seen him since we were in LA against
the Chargers.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
This is a good game for him to get back
on the track.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
I think that he if he's able to do that,
he'll open up the lanes for the wide receivers.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
I certainly hope so, And I mean you mentioned Robbie Chosen.
I mean, he really was like probably their best receiver
whenever he was playing playing in Dallas, like he looked
like he was ready to go. And that's something that
codins Aft said that they were really impressed by in
his workouts and everything. And I think he could possibly
do some for you, whether it's you know, I mean,
we'll see what happens with Marcus Mariota and all that

(14:04):
other stuff. But one same question over to you, like
and maybe like you know what is meant to the
run game, but like I mean and Chris Rodriguez, but
how do you feel about that group overall? Considering that
you know, Bill has had his rookie moment of times,
Rodriguez has you know, not gotten a lot of carries yet,
and mc nibble Nichols does more of like the change
of role. How do you feel about that group and

(14:25):
all do you think they can do to kind of
take some of the pressure off these receivers.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
I mean, Zabra, I'm wondering if you're actually coming to
screen to be like the receiver because we're like one
injury away, you having to be out there and line
up for this team. But if we're talking about the
running backs, I've talked to much just a lot about this.
I felt that we put a lot of pressure on

(14:49):
having a lead back and Bill Cross, you Marrit, someone
who carried the loads, someone to be the bell cow
of this team, and maybe he wasn't ready for it.
And I feel like the rotation that the Dolphins worked
better when it was a rotation of running backs at
the beginning of the year. The running game, at least,

(15:09):
so in that aspect, I think that will help your receivers.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
If your run game is clicking, and we know that
the Dolphins are not very good, particularly against the run.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
That might give a little bit more space, a little
bit more Christmas. Whereas wide receivers to have a chance
to make place, we know that they're not proven names
of the league right now. We know that there's still
the guys like Lane who's trying to make a name
for himself, children is trying to come back and being
someone in this league, and other receivers that are more

(15:37):
and everything like that that they're trying to make something
for themselves on this team. Over the last couple of weeks,
they've just been completely blanketed because the run game has
not been clicking to the commander. So the run game
is important. Also, I think zach Ertz to be the
veteran that he's paid to be on this team.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Lots of penalties, lots of prestat penalties for him over
the last three games, a couple of drops healing there.
I think sometimes we rely on Earth to be like
that safety blanket you just have the last two games.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Yeah, And I think that's emblematically of the entire offense,
like with the pieces just haven't exactly performed the way
you'd want them to. And I think I do like
the point you made about the run game because yeah,
I mean we've we've seen defenses that are not good
against the run going up against the commanditive and it
hasn't really mattered as much because there haven't really been
that many there's not really a legitimate threat outside of

(16:39):
devot at receiver and these these decons haven't been able
to over commit to them. And while they've run for
one hundred yards every now and again, it hasn't seemed
like it's been efficient as as it was earlier in
the year. And you know one you you mentioned like
earths and all other stuff, and what is this I
want to hear from you, like how, oh you know,

(17:01):
is there anything that scheme wise that Cliff can do
to get some of these receivers over. Maybe it's like
a quick screen or something that they can do to
design them open to get to make these easy receptions
for Mariota to to make to them.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I think you gotta take advantage of the fact that
you have a guy in Marcus Mariota that's really good
with the RFO. You got to use it right. I
believe that he's that's one of his weapons. You have
to cater the game to Marcus Mariota. He's been solid
when we've seen them. I can't truly put a loss
that you know that Washington's had on Marcus Mariota because

(17:35):
when he's come out, he's given them an opportunity to
win the games and we've just been outscored. It goes
back to the defensive side. But I think offensively speaking,
Marcus Mariota has registered better numbers, slightly better than Jaden
Daniels this season, So I think you have to take
advantage of the fact that, oh, yes, we're playing with
a backup quarterback.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
But it's not just a backup quarterback.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
It's a guy that's venus order in this league trade
very long time, that knows how to win, that has
particular skills that could be applied to this game in
order to confuse the defense to the Miami Dolphins. So
I think, take advantage of Marcus Mariota and use his
strength in your favor, use the RPO that's going to
allow you to open up other lanes. So I feel

(18:20):
that if that could be done and execute it properly,
Washington can give themselves an opportunity to compete and possibly
win this game.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, I've been impressed with Mariota. And you know, as
some people know, I grew up a Tidens fan. I
remember when they drafted Mariota. He's kind of been that guy,
especially with RPOs. It's like it's been one of the
best parts of his game. For Bass of Today's at Oregon,
and you really really see that still the professional game.
Now one before you move on, you mentioned Er, and
I'm interested in the tiny group because you've got John Bates,

(18:51):
You've got Ben Senate, and well Earth's obviously you know
he needs to step up. I'm curious to know what
you think about the rest of this tight end group
and whether or not got like Ben Sinnett can take
on a larger role to help out this this passing unit,
and maybe even John Bates who doesn't catch a lot
of balls, but this has some pretty solid hands.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I mean, I think I can speak for the fan
base and people in the DMB that we've been waiting
for a senate time to shine with the Commanders. I mean,
everyone praises that he's a great blocking tight end. He's
growing in the blocking part of his game, but he
was the second round pick. Like for me, I think

(19:33):
I would expect more from a second round pick than
just being a block room tight end if you're going
to select the tight end. So I definitely think that
there needs to be maybe a concerted effort to get
him the ball. We need to see what he has.
You know, the season completely is not lost yet, the
season mathematically is still in this chase. I know it's
not time to develop that. I know it's not time
to see what you got with these kids, but we

(19:54):
do need to see if we have some weapons on
our offense currently that can help out this team, and
they can alleviate whatever pains you may have on in
the wide deceiver room. And I think Senate, you know,
lining up with with with Ertz as like a double
tight end formations might be something that you should explore,
might be something that you could confuse the defense with,

(20:16):
not in just a blocking sense, but actually past past
concepts give the kid an opportunity. I'm all for that.
I think we have a lot of young guys that
we haven't seen this year.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
I think we have to see what we have right
moving forward, and we're gonna build the team for the future.
Then some of these older veterans are not going to
be here in a couple of years.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah no, I mean that's true.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
I mean we love some of you there, especially in
a time like this.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Yeah no, I mean we we love Urgs. We love
some of these other guys, But I mean they were
they were signing these one temporary year deals for a reason.
And I mean and plus like on top of that,
like this, like we said, the bodies just aren't there
right now. Somebody's got to go out there and play,
and I think you know, you might as well see
what you have while you're off competing and trying to
keep yourself mathematically alive in the playoffs to do so

(21:04):
before we move on to the final question, more than this,
you get the point because I like this. I like
what you said about Mariota because look, yeah, buddy, Marioda
had he completed seventy two point seven percent of his
passes against Detroit. I mean, I think if you look,
if you look at you know, and we're not throwing
the defense at the bus or anything like that, but
like if you look at it, like I mean, they

(21:25):
after after a slow start, they just seem to move
against that, against that top ten Detroit Detroit Lions defense,
and I'd be curious to see if they can finally
get off to this faster start on offense, see what
they can finally do with Mariota out there.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
So final question, Yes, I don't want to put any
pressure on you. Yeah, but you know, the loser of
this this battle pays for the drinks at the bar after.
Oh man, there's a little bit of pressure on this
on this this next question. So I hope more is
ready to bring it.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
I love it, I love love it.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
I love it, love it.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Best to go along with it, all, right? Final question,
Tiga stakes are high. The drinks are on the line here.
And for the last question, I think if you look
at this this Miami offense, they're the two biggest weapons.
Obviously are Tua, who has had his ups and downs
over the course for his career, but playing pretty decent
right now, I would say, And then you've got a

(22:20):
Change who is I mean after that monster game he
had last week against the Bills, I think a lot
of people are looking at him to see what he's
going to be able to do against the Samanta's defense.
So simple question here for you guys. If you had
to pick one, and obviously you want to pick both.
If if you had to pick one, who would you
want the defense to stop the most, between a Change

(22:40):
or Tua one, let's start up with you men.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
For me, it's simple. If you look at the defense
for Washington, we have struggled with running backs who can
basically get to the outside. We're talking about about games
against Bijon Robinson, if we're talking about games against Switch,
if we're talking about last week against Gibbs. Any running

(23:09):
back who has any threat to be part of the
passion game and get to the outside of our defense
has killed us in the past. So you have to
somehow find a way to limit this running back in
the HM who is versatile, who can that's passed out
of the back? Deeald who can get out on the
edge fast. I think the key to the victory is

(23:31):
somehow stopping Hm.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
He definitely didn't have a fantastic game against the Bills,
for sure, And I mean I watched that game. I'm like, oh,
my witness, Like that's gonna be a problem for us.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
So more.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Man, you know what I mean, Sach, You're gonna have
a difficult time right now because it's definitely gonna be
a choice. I strongly disagree when it went on. See,
I'm gonna take the other side of the coin. I
think we have to worry about the pass. I think
taus the key, and we can stop Tua, we win

(24:06):
this game.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Why do I say it.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
That because the Washington Commanders are among the worst teams
when it comes to the past. They're thirty first when
it comes to total yards allowed. I mean, I'm sorry,
they're thirty first. Yet when total yards allowed against the past,
and they're a team that's allowing seven plus yards per
pass per attempts, that's the bottom. Like it doesn't get worse.

(24:28):
When we're talking about stats and looking at the numbers.
I believe that the pass is the key. They're not
far off, far off.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
When we're talking about the run game. I was gonna
tell you, I thought that that was a trick question because.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
They're pretty similar, and it becomes a matter of choice,
which one do you what's your poison?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Right, But if you look at.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
The numbers, if you look at the stats, Washington's far
worse against the past than against the rush.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Therefore, I believe that you have to limit the past.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
You have to limit these explosive pass his plays that
have heard Washington the entire season, and it goes back
to communication. It goes back to being in the right
place when when Washington's on defense.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
It's something we have not been able to solve.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
We talked about it early in the season, we were
talking about what is happening.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Joe Witz spoke on the matter.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
I think that if you can solve that issue, and
it's going to be a difficult issue to solve, because
once again, we've been talking this entire time about how
Washington is limited, how a lot of these thoughters are
out some of the cornerbacks are no longer going to
be available because they're out for the year due to injury.
There or I think you have to find a solution

(25:41):
when it comes to the past, and if you're able
to do that, you give yourself an opportunity to win
this game.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh man, that was a great point there, and that
you're right, this is really tough because one is given.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Me death looks right now, Bro, you've had that looks.
He's like, I'm killing you after this conversation is over.
Oh man.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
So I look at I see One's point here because
I look at Jamier Gibbs and I see the night
that he had against us, and I think, wow, Ashan
can do exactly that against this commander's defense. On the
other hand, you look at what Sam Donald did. Do
you guys know how many passes consecutively Sam Donald completed

(26:26):
in in the like in that game against him?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
It was perfect up until the interception.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. And then you look at what Jared
Goff did, and Jared Goff twenty five to thirty three
three and twenty yards nine point seven yards per pack
and ninety four point one qbr like that's and I
think that is just it's you. You mentioned it. They've's
been a problem for this team for a while and

(26:56):
it has continued to be an issue.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Man, this is the one more thing, that thing that
the judge judge. If you're able to limit the run,
then the past will also come, you know, under that wing,

(27:23):
and you'll be able to limit it. The reason why
Golf had such a great game, or even at some
point Caleb Williams have such a great game because the
running back was able to bail him out. The running back,
the running game, or the broken tackles as a defense

(27:43):
were able to build that team out from whatever you know,
run that they were in at that time. So for me,
if you stop the run automatically, then the past game
you can you can limit that too, because if you're focused,
if a running back is getting six, seven, eight yards

(28:03):
a clip and it's you know, third and short every time,
you're definitely gonna give up pass yards and two is
definitely going to become an important factor. But for me,
the most important thing is not let the running back
go wild. Okay, I'm just trying to fight with this guy.
I'm just trying to fight with him. I disagree.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
I think that I think that if it were one
or two games, I would agree with that point. But
it's been all season. It's been our Achilles tendon. We've
been burned all season. That's why I'm excited for d
Q to step in and take over this defense and
see what he can do, call and challenge some of these.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Players out right, that's what we need.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Like I said, if I'm being fair, I thought it
was a trick question when when I saw it, I
was like, wait, you can make an argument for either
or and they would both be right in my opinion.
But you know, I'll stick with my with my initial thought.
I I think we have to we have to un
pressure the quarterback. We have not done that in a

(29:06):
few weeks. We have not even made the quarterback uncomfortable.
We're making quarterbacks look like MVP candidates. That has to change.
I hope this weekend is the week where we change
it with Dan quince Stead being into the role of DC.
And if that happens, then I believe we closed a
year in a good note.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
All right, So he both of you guys, first and
second points both excellent, And this is a third straight
week where where I really wish I believed in ties,
which I don't because there's just no way you can
do a tie in this situation. And I think I

(29:47):
think I have to go with Moistas on this in
the win because you're right for my drinks, Bro, the
quarterback drinks, so that they these these plays have just
been wide open the quarterbacks. They the past two or
three quarterbacks I've had really just i mean almost career
nights out of the commandity defense. And yeah, I think

(30:08):
I gotta go with Moss because I think it's I
think it's a really really good point there, mores Ass.
How do you feel about taking the win and the drinks?

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Hey, I feel great.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Normally, you know, I'm always humble, sad, you know, I'm
always humble, feet on the ground, always congratulate my opponent.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
But tonight I want to see him want to suffer.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
I want him to pay for these drinks because he's
been staring at me like he wants to beat me
up all night.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Bro. Exactly the moment a moment, at one moment, I
was worried for my life. I'm like, if I don't
win this, this guy's gonna have this over me all week.
You know what, You know what, Mos says told me
before we got here. He's I'm thirsty, so I'm scared.
I'm a little scarce. I'll be honest, Hey, Sack, I
heard this is this drink.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
I've never had it. By the way, it's like blue label.
I think it's like sixty per drink. I have a
couple of those.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no no, that's.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
That just sounds fantastic. I'm glad for you guys. I'm
glad for more for getting the free drinks. That's gonna
be great and hopefully, like I said, it's not gonna
cost too much animosity between you guys because you both,
you guys do an excellent job up there.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
The good thing is that Zach is coming to pay
for the drinks tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
But you know what, you know what, I'll take that, yeah,
drinks on me for tomorrow a sack sack. Now.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
In all honesty, we've had a blast in Madrid so far.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
I honestly, I've never experienced so much attention on on
on the Commander's brand, right, there's so much love, there's
so much interest in learning what we're doing as a
as an organization. On the Spanish side, on the English side,
and I think I truly enjoy that we were at
Real Madrid's training facility today and the amount of people

(31:54):
that came up to us just ask, you know, like
what do you guys think about this? Or can you
connect us with you know, the guys they see on you.
But all this stuff we do, I think it's been amazing.
I think this is great. I know it sucks that
we're three and seven, it definitely does. And I understand
the fan base. I understand the frustration. But like I
told one of you know, off on a separate conversation,

(32:15):
when we think about what's happened and what this team
has been through, I would choose this scenario a million times.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Yeah. I understand that too, because I remember some of
those days where it was you know, it's three and thirteen,
you know, seven and nine, or obviously that twenty twenty
season was a little bit different. But even though, like
you say, it looks bad now, like the future is
still very promising. And while like you said, it's not
great service seven, we're there to help expand the game

(32:45):
and get more fans, and I think that I think
that we're going to get a lot of fans this weekend.
I think we're gonna be a lot more people are
gonna be introduce to the commanders and what we're about.
And that's always a good thing, right no matter what happens,
So hopefully and hopefully we will be talking about it.
And Nick, well, I guess in two weeks because next
week is our vibe. But either way, for one and Moiss,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
