SPEAKER_06 (00:10):
This is the Command
the Commute Podcast.
SPEAKER_04 (00:15):
Talking about the
game, going to the game.
SPEAKER_06 (00:20):
Mikey, we're up and
running.
Another podcast.
Yeah, let's do it.
Here we are.
So uh, of course, this is theCommand the Commute podcast.
We are recording live from thehome office.
We know our real podcast studiois in the van on the way to the
game, talking about the game.
SPEAKER_04 (00:40):
But we've got three
months till the season starts.
SPEAKER_06 (00:42):
So yeah, but June
gets you starting to think about
football even more.
You know, every month we get alittle bit closer to the end of
the summer, you know.
SPEAKER_04 (00:53):
And summer hasn't
even officially started yet.
SPEAKER_06 (00:56):
Yes, yes.
So we are recording this.
What's today?
June 10th.
Um, so kind of in that point ofthe season where, you know,
there's not a whole lot ofthings to talk about unless
you're signing players like andtrading for players like the
Rams.
SPEAKER_04 (01:14):
Yeah, and but we
haven't been making a whole lot
of splash moves.
SPEAKER_06 (01:18):
Miles Garrett did
say I've seen a video out that
Tuncil is one of his uh biggestchallenges from last season.
And we got them on the schedulethis year, the Rams, uh, earlier
in the season.
Is it like one of our first sixweeks?
SPEAKER_04 (01:32):
I I think so.
SPEAKER_06 (01:33):
Well, it's so funny
how we spend so much time
talking about this, and then itslips our mind play away.
SPEAKER_04 (01:38):
Hey, you know, you
get down with one episode, you
move on with the biggest.
I wish we could just there'sonly so much bandwidth up.
Right, right.
SPEAKER_06 (01:44):
Right, right, right,
right, right.
So the uh kind of the agenda.
The agenda for the podcast.
Uh I want to get into a varietyof different things, and we've
got a lot of sound bites andstuff.
But the the the OTAs are arejust closing up for a little
bit, but um, but they hadmicrophones and cameras and all
(02:08):
these players' faces, so we'vegot tons of comments and takes
on on their um interviews andstuff like that.
But uh we're gonna get startedwith our instant new instant
replay segment, and then afterthat, I want to I I dove deep
into Iuk.
SPEAKER_04 (02:26):
Okay, cool, cool.
SPEAKER_06 (02:28):
Everybody kind of
knows about Brandon Ayuk.
Everybody kind of gets that hethere's a connection, but I went
through the whole thing becauseI kind of forgot, like, why is
he even available?
Why are we even talking aboutit?
So I dove back and kind oflooked into it all, and then
we'll kind of figure out we'llwe'll be able to put out there
on the pod like our our opinionon that.
(02:49):
Yeah.
Um, and then uh our depth checksegment uh of the pod, we're
gonna talk about our runningback room, which I'm really
excited about.
What do you what about you?
SPEAKER_04 (03:00):
I mean, there's
there's some good options there.
It's it's a full room.
SPEAKER_06 (03:03):
There's a un a lot
of unproven potential.
Yeah.
Is that a good way to put it?
Nobody's like a stud, but likethere's a lot of guys that's
like, well, maybe they'll workout with us because we got some.
SPEAKER_04 (03:17):
Unproven is the key
word.
SPEAKER_06 (03:19):
Yeah.
And then uh we'll kind of finishup quarter four, like we
typically do with like ahodgepodge of of a lot of
different things.
Um, one of which I want to talkabout specifically that you
won't care about, but maybe someof our other listeners will, is
the big UFC uh Freedom 250 umevent that's happening this
(03:41):
weekend.
SPEAKER_04 (03:42):
Right, Viva La
Trompe, guys.
SPEAKER_06 (03:44):
Yes.
So that uh that's kind of theagenda for for the podcast, but
let's get in right into our ourbrand new segment called Instant
Replay.
SPEAKER_04 (04:02):
Let's do that in an
instant replay.
SPEAKER_06 (04:08):
So we've kind of
needed this segment because God
knows we say all sorts of stuffon here that just goes
unchecked.
SPEAKER_04 (04:17):
Yes, right, and
there are some people that are
making it their job to check us.
SPEAKER_06 (04:23):
Hey, I appreciate
it.
We need that for us, and by allmeans, blow up the comments
section.
You guys, if we say somethingincorrect, put it in, put it in,
and we'll shout you out.
Um, but specifically our boyTom, if you're a longtime
listener, a loyal listener, youknow my buddy Tom, and he how he
(04:43):
listens, and and uh how we doour can't lose locks.
He's always involved with that.
Um but Tom listens to every pod,and he gave us a text message
with a bunch of like littlenotes.
Yes, little notes.
SPEAKER_04 (04:57):
He did indeed.
SPEAKER_06 (04:58):
One of the things
that he said was that there was
a 0% chance that the preseasongame uh Washington versus
Baltimore would be$17, which iswhat I said.
That I said I want to go to thatgame, it's an away game.
SPEAKER_04 (05:14):
Yeah, and I told you
I told you it was$17.
SPEAKER_06 (05:16):
I said, Yeah, well,
it's 17 bucks to go to that
game.
So Tom thought that that wascrazy without getting on Stubhub
or Seat Geek or fan or whatever.
Correct.
What are they, Mike?
Without getting?
I didn't check when I said that,or you said that I forget which
one of us said 17.
SPEAKER_04 (05:33):
I well when I told
you this I told you the 17
bucks, and I looked earlier thatday, but as Oh, you did?
Yeah.
But as Tom put in his critique, zero that was without, I think
that was without the fees.
So when you add the fees, youknow, God forbid that probably
adds like three dollars.
SPEAKER_06 (05:51):
Well, I would have
to assume between now and the
end of August, whenever thatgame is, that the tickets might
drop a couple bucks right in theballpark.
SPEAKER_04 (05:59):
Because now I think
without fees, it's uh it went
out tremendously.
I think it's up to about$20 orsomething as of a couple days
ago.
So I'll have to check the textmessage.
SPEAKER_06 (06:09):
Yeah, the other
thing that he said, which wasn't
really a a uh a correction or ifwe were factually wrong or
anything, but his his input isthat Antonio Williams is better
than Jalen Lane, which I kind ofcompared them together, but Tom
seems to think that the rookieis is a lot better.
He knows a lot more aboutcollege, college guys, these
rookie, the rookie guys comingin interviews.
(06:31):
So I'll I'll defer to him onthat.
Sure.
I'll give him his kudos.
Now he did say Jahan Donsonsigned with Atlanta way long
ago, or forever ago, I think iswhat he said.
Well, I looked that up.
And I forget where we maybe wedidn't even know where Jahan
Donson signed or if he hadsigned anywhere.
But yeah, he signed with Atlantaon March 12th.
(06:54):
So forgive me for not knowing.
SPEAKER_04 (06:56):
Okay, that was three
months ago.
SPEAKER_06 (06:58):
I mean, yeah, okay,
so maybe forever ago, but it
yeah.
I didn't know where he signedoff the top of the dome.
SPEAKER_04 (07:06):
So, you know, what
the the dizzying heights of the
moral high ground.
SPEAKER_06 (07:11):
Uh, I'll give you
one thing that he was way wrong
with, and one thing that he wasdefinitely way right with.
Okay.
Um, he said that we should havemade the jump to the Ravens
in '96.
Now, obviously, he's a Ravensfan.
Yeah.
But so he's bothered.
But also, shame on him foradvocating for jumping to
different teams.
SPEAKER_03 (07:31):
Yeah.
You know, who does that?
Because he's pretty tried andBaltimore.
SPEAKER_06 (07:36):
You're all you do
advocate for that if it's your
team.
Come over to my team.
So I guess, you know, there'sneither here nor there.
But I disagree with that.
We should be making it.
SPEAKER_04 (07:46):
Yeah, we we made
that perfectly clear in the last
episode.
SPEAKER_06 (07:48):
Now, what he was
totally right with, and this is
more of a direct reflection onyou, Michael, and I'm sorry, but
eight plus nine does not equalnine plus seven.
They they are in fact different.
Different.
Um, it's crazy because both mathequations involve a similar
number, nine.
And so, you know, eight plusnine, nine plus seven.
(08:12):
You know, when they add the whenthey went from sixteen games to
seventeen games, I think it'sstill messing with a lot of
people's heads.
Yours and mine included.
SPEAKER_04 (08:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So thank you, Tom.
We were wrong.
We were wrong, and we apologize.
SPEAKER_06 (08:28):
Well, I wasn't
wrong.
You were wrong.
I was trying to I was trying toset you up to say shorts.
I was giving you this thesoftball quote.
Oh, oh, I'm sorry, I I meant tosay it, but you just didn't pick
up.
Look, no big deal.
SPEAKER_04 (08:47):
That was last
episode.
I was wrong.
I apologize.
Let's move on.
You know, I don't hold grudges.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (08:54):
Now, Tom, we
appreciate you kick kickstarting
the uh instant replay segmentfor us.
And by all means, we encourageall of our listeners to see how
he tears this episode apart.
SPEAKER_04 (09:06):
Let's stay tuned.
SPEAKER_06 (09:07):
We'll see.
We shall see.
SPEAKER_04 (09:09):
On baited breath we
win.
SPEAKER_06 (09:11):
I will say this he
can't be correcting this segment
because what goes in thissegment can't be, you know, he
can't be correcting this.
It's just gonna be anever-ending thing.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (09:23):
Um nobody has time
for that.
SPEAKER_06 (09:25):
Yeah, ain't nobody
got time for that.
All right.
So, next thing, and and for alot of you guys out there, I
think are probably exhaustedwith the Brandon Ayuk
conversation.
But, you know, he's adding toit.
Fast forward if you don't wantto hear our our second quarter
(09:46):
of the podcast and the BrandonAyuk saga.
Um, but let me go ahead and kindof give you a thought of the
tip.
I think you're I think you're alittle bit behind the times on
maybe some of this stuff aswell.
So basically, in a nutshell, um,Brandon Ayuk and Jaden Daniels
(10:09):
played together for the ArizonaState Sun Devils in college.
This was before Jaden Danielswent to LSU, right?
So they became close friendsthere.
So that is the none of thismakes any sense.
You gotta acknowledge the factthat they're buddies, right?
Um now he in 2024 played a agreat season, 75 catches, 1300
(10:38):
yards, seven touchdowns, secondteam all pro, right?
And then just before thatseason, got his contract
extension, four years,$120million contract extension.
And then he didn't plan bigsigning, right?
Now so that no, that was 23.
That's the contract that heplayed into in 24.
(10:58):
Now, he got that extensionbefore the 2024 season, and then
in week six or seven uh uh weeksix or seven of tw the twenty
twenty-four season, uh he torehis ACL and his MCL.
Right.
Right, and then he was out allof twenty-five.
All of twenty-four, he he hedidn't do that, right?
(11:21):
And now you think, right, youtear your ACL in the middle of
one season.
Similar to like uh Hertz or oruh Keckler, right?
They got those it wasn't ACL,but um it was a similar
midseason injury.
You think by the time the nextseason rolls around, he'll be
(11:44):
good to go, right?
So there was reports through hisinjury that he wasn't rehabbing
with the team doctors, he wasn'treally showing up to certain
things, he was just kind ofdoing his own thing through the
rehabilitation.
Okay, which you know, everybody's got their own right
(12:09):
to their own medical care.
You know, I guess you don't haveto have a 49, but at the same
time, you gotta communicate withthe team, right?
So there were severaldisagreements about his recovery
process from his perspective, their perspective, right or
wrong.
We're not here to debate that, right?
But you come off of thiscontract extension, then you're
(12:31):
not doing what the team's askingyou to do.
I mean, at the end of the day, they're you're they're your
employer.
Right.
And so this went on through 24and then into 25, and then
throughout 25, the team wasasked several times, how's he
doing?
When's he coming back?
Correct.
And they're they're kind of mumsthe wording it, like, he's we're
(12:56):
expecting him back, it's goingwell, and then the timeline just
keeps extending, extending, andstanding, and then it gets to a
point, it's like, all right, something's going on.
Everybody's getting it's gettingto the point where something is
up.
Um, and then because he shouldhave been back.
He should have been the it tooktoo long.
SPEAKER_04 (13:14):
And then because
there was speculation, if I
recall correctly, that he may,he may have come back at the end
of last season or toward theend, they were maybe kind of
expecting him to come back, butthen of course that never
materialized.
Right.
SPEAKER_06 (13:31):
So if it happens in
oct the injury happens in
October of 24, you're kind ofthinking that, you know, well,
year, because that's about whatthe recovery process, I mean,
more takes.
A lot of guys come back evensooner than that.
But Adrian Peterson ishistorically known for like
tearing his ACL, coming backexactly a year later, and then
(13:52):
tearing the lead back up.
He was like the first guy to getone of these awesome ACL
recovery processes.
And since ever since him, itseems like everybody's on that
year.
SPEAKER_04 (14:02):
But but a year is, I
think, like you said, is what's
expected.
SPEAKER_06 (14:06):
Right.
But come at the end of thatyear, if you're still not around
the team and then you've beendisagreeing with team doctors
the whole time.
Um, and so now the team'sstarting to have to do some
things like void some of hisguarantees that were in the back
half of certain years of hiscontract and kind of stuff like
(14:26):
that.
And in December of 25, the teamdid their first official thing
and they put him on the reserve.
It wasn't an injury list, butit's like left with this team,
or it wasn't that he retired, but I forget the what they had
it classified.
Um, but basically he's not here.
(14:48):
We he's not hanging out here nomore.
Um, and immediately all the whyall the trade rumors, it's like,
all right, it's not the firsttime a team and a wide receiver
didn't get along.
We know what's gonna happen.
They're just gonna part ways, another team that'll work some
kind of a deal out or whatever, and we're the first link.
Um he starts posting stuff toInstagram.
(15:10):
This is why it's all in those inthe news lately, is because he's
like, what the heck is going on?
Now from the 49ers perspective, they're like, Yeah, he comes
with a little bit of baggage, but we're not just gonna give
him away for nothing.
SPEAKER_04 (15:22):
But this the the
speeding ticket video from I
think December.
SPEAKER_06 (15:29):
So he starts making
another one play for Washington.
Everybody saw that in that lastDecember or whatever, that he
sped by the the 49ers stadiumgoing 100 miles an hour or
whatever.
We all saw that.
Nothing came of it until now.
Conveniently.
Why does it take why does ittake six months for that to come
out when it's got millions ofviews online?
(15:52):
What were they waiting for?
I don't understand the timingaspect of all that.
SPEAKER_04 (15:55):
Yeah, that's the
question.
SPEAKER_06 (15:57):
It doesn't make any
sense to me.
Because why wouldn't whywouldn't it have happened two
months ago, three months ago, four months ago?
I don't know.
But go on.
Anyway, alright, so now he soand he's still making it known.
I want to play for Washington, Iwant to play for Washington.
And from Washington'sperspective, we're kind of
sitting there like, why shouldwe trade for this guy and trade
(16:19):
his current contract?
Because we'd have to trade forhis contract, or because the
player and the contract comeswith it, and we don't want that
contract.
I don't want that contract.
I wouldn't want that.
Trade for him if there's if weknow that we're gonna
renegotiate and this is whatit's gonna be.
(16:40):
Um we sign, do that, but don'ttrade for that contract.
We can't afford that contractwith a player with all that, and
that's what the rest of theleague is thinking, too.
And so we're also just kind ofthinking, all right, well, like
he's made it known, he wants toplay for us.
We'll just wait, wait for the49ers to release him, and then
we'll just sign him for what wewant to.
Yeah, it makes sense one year,$7million, eight, nine, ten, I
(17:04):
don't know.
He went for four year to onetwenty to I don't know what he's
gonna get now.
I don't know what is deserving.
Like, what would you be happywith?
And this kind of gets into thatsummarizes the whole saga here.
SPEAKER_04 (17:17):
The the money I
don't know, but I would say if
they release him and you're nottaking on the the mega contract,
it'll probably be a two-yearcontract.
You know, like one year with aone-year option type thing for
whatever amount of money insert,it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_06 (17:35):
I mean, would you be
okay?
SPEAKER_04 (17:37):
I mean, if you're
asking me, are we gonna end up
signing him?
Yes.
Uh but would I be okay taking onhis current mega contract?
No.
SPEAKER_06 (17:49):
I don't know.
SPEAKER_04 (17:53):
Because he's kind of
he's kind of unproven because
he's been out for the last yearand a half.
So you know what you're signing, but really you don't know what
you're signing, you know?
Because he's not I could all youcould almost guarantee that he's
not gonna be the same playerthat he was essentially two
years ago.
SPEAKER_06 (18:14):
We yeah, we don't
know.
We don't know.
We know he's gonna be good.
We know we need a wide receivertoo.
SPEAKER_04 (18:20):
But but I I think
we're I think we're still going
to end up with him one way orthe other for that exact reason.
We need a wide receiver numbertwo.
We can't just have Terry.
SPEAKER_06 (18:33):
Right.
Well, we talked about the widereceivers in last week's
episode.
So if you're curious about ourtake on the depth chart there
and who makes the team and whateverything looks like, uh by all
means go back and and listen tothat.
But uh so from what I'mgathering from you, you're fine
with signing IUK as long as thecontract is is the right dollar
figure and it doesn't reallyhurt us.
(18:55):
And I I I agree.
I agree.
I don't really care.
I mean, to to to in thisleague's a day and age, to say
like now we're not gonna sign awide receiver because he's got
some baggage, it's like they allhave baggage.
SPEAKER_04 (19:10):
Yeah, and if you
really prefer a one-year deal.
SPEAKER_06 (19:12):
I want a I want our
next wide receiver too, and we
went through um the list ofcandidates, but I'd like a tier
one guy that's available in freeagency.
Um and honestly, I would prefera one-year deal because I would
like another guy that's on ourteam currently to break out and
(19:35):
steal the wide receiver twospot.
Um because you can't expectKeenan Allen or Tyreek Hill or
Stefan Diggs or Brandon Ayuk tobe around for that much longer
anyway.
Correct.
So yeah.
Anyway, so that kind of wraps upthe kind of tidies up our wide
receiver conversation from lastweek and informs everybody
(19:58):
that's unaware of the BrandonAyuk stuff.
And by all means, he's gotplenty of content out there on
Instagram.
Just tune in.
SPEAKER_04 (20:06):
Yeah, he's you know,
he he's putting it out there.
He he's doing everything he canto get them to cut him as soon
as humanly possible.
Yeah.
Cut slash release, whateververbiage you want to use.
He wants out.
Right, right.
SPEAKER_06 (20:23):
So anyway, well,
that wraps that up.
Let's get into our uh our thirdquarter, and we're kind of just
flying by here today.
Yeah, that's like yeah, I'm coolwith it.
I'm cool with it.
You know why?
We're not really sipping back onour Jaden Daniels on the rocks
like we typically do.
I mean, we definitely are, butwe ain't kicking them back like
we do.
(20:44):
Correct.
School night.
Big school night.
We got a big week ahead of usthis week, personally.
Anyway, let's get into our nextsegment.
Uh, death check.
Death check.
SPEAKER_04 (21:09):
What do you think
when you look in this room with
the whole?
What do you feel like you bringup?
SPEAKER_00 (21:14):
Uh obviously, I
think we loaded in the room.
Uh a lot of young talent withRob and uh Katreon.
Obviously, Bill's still beingyoung.
Um older guys like me, kind ofJerome and uh J Mac, uh, we do a
good job too.
So I think the room is loaded,uh, full of a lot of talent.
I think we all do a lot ofthings well.
We all got different styles.
I think we all do a lot ofthings like every down to be uh
(21:36):
very good.
And I don't know, I just feellike I don't know.
Like I just try to play my game, just try to be me.
Uh they look up to me in theaspect of like asking me
questions and things like that.
So I try to be there to helpthem.
Uh only been in year five.
Uh they look up at me as aveteran, and I mean I still
don't see it yet, but and Idon't want to look at it like
that yet.
But uh, I'm glad they respect meand they can ask me anything and
(21:57):
I give them the game.
SPEAKER_06 (22:01):
Running backs.
Yeah, what's I love a goodrunning back.
Who's your favorite Washingtonrunning back of your lifetime?
SPEAKER_04 (22:12):
I mean I I almost
kind of go back to Clinton.
I feel like that was kind ofkind of the the peak for us a
little bit, at least in mylifetime.
You know?
SPEAKER_06 (22:25):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (22:26):
I I mean it was like
we signed him.
It was like, okay, we actuallyhave a good running back,
someone who can actually andthen of course when we had AP
for a couple seasons, it waslike that was fun watching him.
You know, that he did good.
Yeah.
But uh those two, but Clintonespecially, because it was like,
wow, we've got a proven runningback.
We might actually like dosomething, of course.
SPEAKER_06 (22:47):
I always liked
Alfred Morris too.
Um, he's just a soft-spoken,kind of a sweet guy, humble guy,
and our scheme was perfect forhis style in 2012 and 2013.
SPEAKER_04 (23:04):
He was good for us.
He wasn't so good when he wentto Dallas and all of that.
SPEAKER_06 (23:08):
No, but honestly, uh
like hats off to a guy like him
for putting together a decentlylong career.
SPEAKER_04 (23:16):
But running backs
are kind of like racehorses, you
know.
You have them for uh I'd saywhat, one to three years, you
literally run them into theground, get the best out of
them, and then you know, outthey go, and in comes the fresh,
the fresh crop.
SPEAKER_06 (23:32):
Do you have a least
favorite running back?
SPEAKER_04 (23:35):
Not that I can think
of off the top of my head.
But I'm since you brought it up,I'm sure you do.
SPEAKER_06 (23:41):
No, I honestly just
kind of no, I don't.
We drafted him pretty high.
SPEAKER_04 (23:50):
Um, I forget which
era, which but they're so
interchangeable because they'rethey have such a short NFL
lifespan on any team, not justours.
SPEAKER_06 (24:01):
Right, right.
Well, let's get into our currentrunning backs.
Um, and the order I'll kind oframble them off here is uh kind
of what I anticipate they'relisted as on the starting roster
as of right now.
Um we've got our of course ourguy Bill, Jacori Kosky, Jacori
(24:27):
Krosky, Mary, Jacori Krosky,Merrick.
Just call him Bill.
AKA Bill.
And then Rashad White, new guy.
Yeah.
We got Jerome Ford, new guy.
SPEAKER_03 (24:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (24:42):
Jeremy McNichols,
guy that's been around for us,
guy that's been around for theleague for a long time now.
I didn't realize until I startedkind of uh doing our little
homework for this segment.
But uh he's 31 years old.
He's been around for a long timeand a lot of teams.
Um lot of teams.
Most of all practice squads, buta couple different practice
squads.
(25:02):
But producer for us in clutchmoments.
Um then Katron Allen, uh ourdraft pick from this year from
Penn State.
And then uh Robert Henry Jr.
is undrafted.
SPEAKER_04 (25:16):
Uh oh, I didn't have
him on my list.
SPEAKER_06 (25:19):
Yeah, he's been at
OTAs.
He's he's uh he's there.
He's there.
Uh well we can get into that.
Um so Bill is gonna be kind ofour featured guy.
I mean, he's been featured in alot of our media.
He's he's on a lot of uh thesignage, you know.
SPEAKER_04 (25:41):
I mean, he right now
he's obviously the number one.
SPEAKER_06 (25:45):
I feel like he put
together a a good season last
year uh for a rookie.
He made some rookie mistakes forsure.
Um some really costly fumbles inin certain times.
One that comes to mind isagainst the Bears.
(26:05):
Um, and it's not the the JadenDaniels fumble, but he had
another fumble uh a coupledrives before the the big fumble
that turned the game around.
But um, yeah.
Of course I like Bill.
Who doesn't like Bill?
He's he's a patient runner, uhsuper athletic, quick.
(26:28):
So he's gonna be what we hope isour featured back.
SPEAKER_04 (26:32):
But I mean, uh based
off of that depth chart, I I
think it's clear that he isgonna be the the featured back.
SPEAKER_06 (26:41):
Do you have his
stats?
SPEAKER_04 (26:42):
Uh I do.
Last season he was uh 175 uh foruh 805 yards with eight
touchdowns, and had uh receivingwise he was nine for
sixty-eight.
SPEAKER_06 (27:02):
Nine for
sixty-eight.
SPEAKER_05 (27:04):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (27:06):
Um I'm gonna I mean,
I'm running hard for a breakout
in in Bill because like we werejust saying, it's so much fun
when the lead back on your teamis a stud.
SPEAKER_04 (27:20):
Yeah.
Uh and he's and he certainly wasthat last year.
SPEAKER_06 (27:24):
I mean, we had a
rotational backfield last year
for a variety of differentreasons.
I think we we got Bill out theretoo fast too soon.
Um, and the offense was tryingto evolve, and it just couldn't
with them with the rookie.
Um who's the next guy on yourlist?
SPEAKER_04 (27:46):
Uh I mean, I've got
the same list that you do, but
let's just go down.
The number two uh, I think isRashad.
SPEAKER_06 (27:52):
Yeah, Rashad.
He he's a guy that I mean I'mexcited to see I'm excited to
see what Rashad and Jerome Fordlook like um in Burgundy and
Gold.
We're gonna get to see them, Ithink, a lot in in the
preseason, and just to kind ofsee how our offense is is gonna
(28:14):
look.
Um there's a part of me, I don'tknow why I'm leaning this way,
but I think it's just becauseBlau's last year as a player was
um in Detroit, and then webrought him over here as a
coach.
And the offense that they wererunning over there, I don't know
why I feel like he was a fan ofit, but how couldn't you have
(28:37):
been a fan of it, right?
It's the mentality.
And so I'm curious if we'regonna look at Bill like the
Gibbs in the offense, and lookat the other guys as more of a
(28:57):
David Montgomery, who's now nolonger with um Detroit.
God, Tom's gonna be moped forthis.
Where did he go?
Montgomery.
I think he went to Houston.
SPEAKER_04 (29:09):
Sounds right, but I
honestly don't know.
He'll he'll rake us over thecoals for not knowing.
And I'll just apologize inadvance.
SPEAKER_06 (29:18):
I did a mock draft
the other day, too, just because
I know like doing a mock draftand seeing the names come
through, you can kind offamiliarize yourself with where
certain guys have gone.
Um but man, I forget.
I forget where he went.
But I hey, I know he ain't withDetroit no more.
I'm curious where he's wherethat's gonna fill in because
that was uh an integral part oftheir offense.
(29:38):
Not just Jared Goff doing sogood, but their running backs
were like a huge strength forfor Detroit.
So I'm curious if like of RashadWhite and Jerome Ford, and
honestly, I'm wondering if ourrookie out of Penn State ends up
(30:00):
being our David Montgomery.
Um he's six foot, he's 220pounds, kind of a a downhill,
you know, rough tumble, kind ofa runner.
He's a hard runner, um, which iskind of what Montgomery is.
(30:20):
Whereas Gibbs is quicker and canmove like from side to side down
the field, whereas I look atBill's patience and I see the
same thing.
So I don't know.
Um, I'm excited to see whereeverything falls.
Now we re-signed McNicholsbecause all of our running backs
(30:44):
except for Bill last year werecontractors up.
We we lost Rodriguez.
Um and then obviously nobody hassigned Eckler, but he's he's
still out there.
I'm sure somebody will sign him.
He'll get a veteran minimum umsomewhere, and I wouldn't be
surprised if he doesn't producea little bit in the right um for
(31:08):
the right team.
Um but I think we brought backMcNichols specifically because
we have a guy who has been onpractice squads, he's been on
our practice squad and has beenclutch for us coming in in the
middle of the season to fill infor injuries.
(31:29):
And I think there's a lot ofguys that probably get a little
butthurt not being able to be inthe starting roster, and they
don't want to be to the practicesquad, and that might be beneath
me.
I'll be on another team, likewho will sign me and they'll
just go anywhere.
Um, but there's something to besaid about a guy that doesn't
mind grinding on the practicesquad and waiting for his
opportunity.
I think that's why we gotMcNichols.
(31:49):
I don't think we would havesigned Ford or um White if they
weren't gonna make the team.
Now, they don't have hugecontracts.
SPEAKER_04 (32:01):
No, but they are the
veterans I both of those
contracts are what?
Um Rashad is a one year at twomillion, and Fort's the
practically the same thing.
He's one year at 1.2 so yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (32:26):
And then honestly,
this Robert Henry guy, uh
nothing about him.
SPEAKER_04 (32:32):
Yeah, he didn't even
show up on on my research.
SPEAKER_06 (32:36):
I mean, you always
gotta have another guy, and I am
curious how many guys that wehave on the active 53 do or is
it 54 now?
I think it's it 53.
I don't know, it doesn't matter.
But I wonder how many players uhhow many running backs we're
gonna carry.
Four or five.
Four is a lot.
(32:57):
We're definitely gonna havefour.
But if we have a fifth, who'swho makes it?
I think it's Bill, I think it'sWhite, I think it's four, and I
think it's Catron Allen becausehe's a rook.
Maybe he starts on the practicesquad, but like I don't think
so.
SPEAKER_04 (33:20):
I don't necessarily
disagree with that, but you
still think McNichols doesn'tmake the team, he makes like the
practice squad.
I think that's why we re-signedhim.
SPEAKER_06 (33:31):
Because why would we
sign all these other guys if we
were just gonna like he likehe's proven like he can do what
we want him to do?
SPEAKER_04 (33:39):
But yeah, but like
if I'm looking at the stats from
last year, I don't know.
Ford didn't really do much.
He was 24 for 73 and receiving,he was 26 for 103.
SPEAKER_06 (33:54):
So he didn't have a
huge role over there, but I
don't know.
SPEAKER_04 (33:58):
Now granted it was
Cleveland, so Cleveland.
You know how I feel about that, just check last season, but
right.
SPEAKER_06 (34:06):
But I do think that
we're gonna have a rotation.
I'd love it if it was atwo-headed monster.
SPEAKER_04 (34:14):
Oh, we if this is if
this is the depth chart and if
it remains so, if they don't,you know, cut anyone or make any
other adjustments, I think it'sclear it's gonna be a
bi-committee structure.
Because there's no there's notrue, for lack of a better word,
(34:36):
true veteran standout that willautomatically always be the
number one, you know, ground andpound.
So it's gonna be a by-committee.
SPEAKER_06 (34:46):
I and I which I
don't mind, but what has been so
frustrating to me in years pastis like when you have that
rotational running back roomlike that, and your running
back's got different skill sets, and you see, all right, for
(35:07):
example, Chris Thompson sittingthere sitting next to uh the
quarterback in shotgun on thirddown, you're kind of like, all
right, we've seen this play.
You can become very predictablewhen certain guys get in in
certain packages and certainthat's that's the negative.
And I don't like how predictablethat becomes.
(35:28):
For that 24 season withKingsbury, I didn't think we
looked predictable at all.
SPEAKER_05 (35:34):
No.
SPEAKER_06 (35:35):
But his offense did
get a little bit stagnant.
I don't think he was all toblame for why our offense
struggled last year, but it hisplay calling did did get
stagnant.
SPEAKER_04 (35:49):
But um, and that's
because he had so many injuries.
It was exactly that.
It was you know, after year one,he was pretty much doing the
same thing, and with theinjuries and stuff, it was
predictable.
Everybody knew.
So, you know, it was a adouble-headed monster of issues.
SPEAKER_06 (36:08):
Yeah.
But anyway, any other notes onon the running backs you want to
share?
SPEAKER_04 (36:16):
Not that we haven't
really covered, like we went
through their stats and we kindof already know what their
contracts are, and it just it iswhat it is, unless they sign
some splashy running back.
But I don't see that I don't seethat happening.
SPEAKER_06 (36:29):
Yeah, I don't see
that happening either.
I I would be surprised if we ifwe end up signing a running
back, unless, of course, one ofthese guys gets injured in the
in the preseason.
But it seems like the runningbacks that we've got are gonna
be the guys that come into theseason.
And uh but you know, also God,we really have a lot riding on
(36:52):
Bill.
I'm ro I'm trying to wrap myhead around it.
But it we have a we are reallydepending on Bill a lot.
SPEAKER_04 (36:57):
Yeah, I mean, and
that's that's why I'm gonna say
this.
Like just looking at the depthchart as I did the other day
when I started to do theresearch, honestly, it's kind of
a it's kind of a weak point.
There, you know, it's could belike an Achilles heel to the to
the team.
SPEAKER_06 (37:17):
We're banking on a a
big step in production from
Bill.
And if that doesn't happen, thenwe're sitting here scratching
our heads.
But we'll be able to listen backto this conversation uh
mid-season and kind of say, well, we said that it was a weak
point because there was timeslast year where I felt like,
(37:37):
man, like they're they're takingthe carries away from Bill a
little bit, and we're dependingon Rodriguez and McNichols and
like Mariana and Avery, man.
It's got to a point where it'sjust like it got too much last
year.
But I'm curious, obviously, always curious how this year
will go.
Um, all right.
(37:58):
Anything else on running backs?
SPEAKER_03 (38:00):
I'm good.
SPEAKER_06 (38:01):
Okay.
Well, a big uh portion of therunning back success obviously
comes down to the offensiveline.
And the only guy that we reallyuh the only guy that we didn't
really get back was uh Beatisbadass.
I call him badass, Tyler Badass.
(38:22):
Where'd he go?
Chargers?
I gotta stop doing that.
Yeah, I gotta stop.
Tom's gonna eat us alive.
I gotta stop guessing on wherethese guys go.
I know, all right.
Where did that gonna go?
I think he went to a West Coastteam.
I I'm confident.
SPEAKER_04 (38:37):
And Tom's gonna, you
know, it doesn't he's gonna
fillet your ass to not know.
SPEAKER_06 (38:41):
But um but there is
something to be said about the
uh consistency of the offensiveline that we're bringing.
We got a couple guys coming backuh next week, or not next week,
but our next podcast episodewill get into the offensive line
for the death check portion ofthe podcast, and we'll kind of
just tease it with um NickAlgretti getting a microphone,
(39:02):
putting his face and hiscomments on the fact that uh it
looks like we've got someconsistency at that position.
SPEAKER_02 (39:10):
And keeping
continuity on this offensive
line, minus the honest.
Everybody's back.
What a benefit is that?
What do you mean if it's thateverybody's back in their
position and you're just goingforward together?
SPEAKER_01 (39:22):
Uh I don't think
that could really be overstated.
It's uh very rare to have thatmuch of a that many guys coming
back into the room.
Um not just not just the five ofstarting guys up front, but
everybody that's in the room.
I think we have I mean Fosterdid come back, but he was here
with us last year, brought thetwo rooks in uh who've been
(39:42):
awesome.
Um but just the trust that wehave in each other, um it
continues to grow the more youplay with each other.
And I I really can't overstatehow much how important that is
to offensive line play, to thepoint where you get to make less
and less double team calls,three-man calls, because you're
(40:02):
on the same page.
Um everybody knows you go outthere and you you make a a B
call or a deuce call.
Everyone, a lot of thoseD-linemen know what that means.
So the less that you have to dothat, the better you're able to
keep the defense on their toes, you're on the same page without
really even having tocommunicate so huge that we are
able to bring so many guys.
SPEAKER_06 (40:21):
Yeah, so there's
Nick Algardy, and while while
you guys while we were playingthat, Mike and I were just
sitting here talking about thedefense, and man, they you're
right, they better be betterthan they were last year.
Because they were they werepathetic last year.
Yeah.
Man.
SPEAKER_04 (40:40):
But anyway, that's
what we're teasing for the next
episode.
SPEAKER_06 (40:43):
Yeah, because I want
to talk about the defense a
little bit.
And we're gonna end this podcastwith um Kin Law's microphone
moment from about a week and ahalf ago.
Uh PFT commentator for Barstoolsaid that he uses the word shit
like a comma, and that's how hedid.
(41:04):
So we'll finish the uh episodewith that in case um you didn't
want to listen to that.
We'll we'll finish it with that.
But anyway, so the fourthquarter here, we basically get
into our our hodgepodge uhsection um of the podcast.
And basically, first thingsfirst, you're uh a regal crown
(41:26):
club member.
Yes.
Where you see unlimited moviesin theaters.
SPEAKER_03 (41:32):
Correct.
SPEAKER_06 (41:33):
So since the last
podcast, what's has there been a
movie that stood out to you as agood one?
SPEAKER_04 (41:41):
Let me pull out my
list because I add to it each
time I Yeah, I should haveprepared you while you're
looking up your list.
SPEAKER_06 (41:48):
I mean, the Dutton
Ranch, are you caught up on
that?
SPEAKER_04 (41:52):
Yes.
Badass season.
Yes.
Love, love.
Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (41:58):
So that last episode
was uh uh I think it was episode
five.
Yeah.
I had a twist in there.
SPEAKER_04 (42:03):
I was not expecting
I like where they're going.
I mean, obviously we don't knowwhere they're going, but I I
like where I think we're going.
SPEAKER_06 (42:12):
Very curious.
Uh and and then the boy, what'shis boy's name, Carter?
Yeah.
Man, that boy is gonna He'steenaging it up, that's for
sure.
He's getting himself into sometrouble, man.
Yeah, he better be careful.
But yeah, I'm looking forward tothat.
And I did, I did just have inthe background as background
noise as I was doing somehousehold chores the other day.
(42:34):
I put on the Marshalls.
SPEAKER_04 (42:37):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (42:38):
It doesn't, I mean,
it does answer a couple things,
and it's still in theYellowstone universe.
SPEAKER_04 (42:45):
Um but does it grab
your attention?
SPEAKER_06 (42:48):
Or is it background
noise?
I didn't say that.
SPEAKER_04 (42:50):
That's what I was or
are that's what I was gonna say.
Or is it truly?
SPEAKER_06 (42:54):
There's a couple,
there's a couple moments where I
I I you know I paid attentionto, but for the most part, it
you know, it's not as good.
It's not the same caliber ofshow as Yellowstone or the or
the Dun Ranch.
Dun Ranch, like we talked aboutbefore, it it feels like a
continuation of Yellowstone.
SPEAKER_04 (43:12):
Very much so.
SPEAKER_06 (43:13):
Marshall's feels
closer to like I don't know,
Blue Bloods or NCIS or one orwhatever these CBS shows are
anymore.
SPEAKER_04 (43:22):
Yeah.
Because well well, like we weretalking about a couple weeks ago
or whatever, it's it's more of aprocedural uh cop show than like
a true Yellowstone.
SPEAKER_06 (43:34):
They should have
just they they could have called
the show U.S.
Marshals.
And the fact that the CaseyDutton is the main character,
you know, that's the only thingthat ties it in.
SPEAKER_04 (43:45):
Right, because it's
just a cop drama.
It's it's not like the Duttonranch where yes, it's a spin
off, but it truly feels like acontinuation of that story and
that universe.
SPEAKER_06 (43:58):
Yeah, yeah.
All right, you.
Movie list?
SPEAKER_04 (44:01):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (44:01):
Anything good?
SPEAKER_04 (44:02):
Well, I I've seen 27
this year through June.
Oh th thus far in June.
SPEAKER_06 (44:10):
Your yearly record,
I know that was set in 2024.
That was 60?
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (44:15):
And 25 of I don't
know, it was around 50
something.
It was a couple couple short.
SPEAKER_06 (44:22):
So I don't know.
SPEAKER_04 (44:24):
But anyway, uh the
two most recent movies that I
saw that I I really enjoyed umwas Backrooms, which we kind of
talked about off-air.
I thought that was pretty good.
And just the other night Iwatched uh Power Ballad.
(44:45):
That is the new movie with uhPaul Rudd and the one with Jonas
Brother.
SPEAKER_06 (44:51):
That was oh, okay,
okay, okay.
I think I did see a trailer or aclip or something.
SPEAKER_04 (44:58):
That was a good
movie.
SPEAKER_06 (44:59):
Was it?
SPEAKER_04 (45:00):
Paul Rudd did a
fantastic job in that movie.
SPEAKER_06 (45:03):
What what what's it
about in a nutshell?
SPEAKER_04 (45:05):
It's basically about
Paul Rudd's character.
He allegedly writes this popsong that this artist steals
from him.
SPEAKER_06 (45:18):
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_04 (45:19):
And the whole movie
is really about did he write the
song?
Did he come up with the song?
Is it truly his, or does itbelong to the the pop star?
SPEAKER_06 (45:33):
Right.
SPEAKER_04 (45:34):
Uh, but it's a very
good movie.
SPEAKER_06 (45:36):
Wow.
Alright, okay.
I'll look out for it.
Um what's still top of your listfor this year?
SPEAKER_04 (45:45):
Uh Hail Mary, still
number one.
SPEAKER_06 (45:47):
It was good.
I saw that.
SPEAKER_04 (45:48):
Uh oh, did you
finally get around to it?
SPEAKER_06 (45:50):
I I I enjoyed it.
Uh I had a free rental on Prime,so I used it on that.
SPEAKER_04 (45:55):
Yeah, that's still
my number one.
SPEAKER_06 (45:57):
It was good.
It's definitely different.
Uh I feel like there was an AdamSandler movie that came out like
two or three years ago onNetflix where he was in space.
The concept of that movie wasvery similar to me.
SPEAKER_03 (46:11):
Yeah, I think I kind
of knew what you're talking
about, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_06 (46:13):
But this one was way
better than the Adam Sandler
version.
Yeah.
Uh whatever that one was.
But all right.
Um, uh the UFC 250 Freedom eventthat's happening this Sunday on
the White House lawn.
SPEAKER_04 (46:32):
Isn't it exciting?
SPEAKER_06 (46:33):
Isn't it cra I like
I am a UFC fan?
SPEAKER_04 (46:37):
It's almost a shame
the ballroom wasn't built.
They could have just done it inthere.
SPEAKER_06 (46:41):
It is crazy to me
that this event is actually
happening.
SPEAKER_00 (46:46):
I know.
SPEAKER_06 (46:47):
I it it's it is odd
that there's an octagon in in
the White House lawn.
I could admit to that and stillbe a fan of everything that's
happening.
It is weird, but I dig it.
Now, what's weirder is thatSaturday, Travis Pastrana is
(47:08):
jumping a dirt bike over thesouth lawn.
SPEAKER_03 (47:13):
I did not know that.
SPEAKER_06 (47:16):
Brought to you by
Nitro Circus.
So uh what do you think is moreuh unusual?
The octagon in the front lawn orthe dirt bike in the south lawn?
I am a huge fan of like the two250 uh events that are taking
(47:39):
place and all the celebrationand the patriotism that that
that comes with it and how DC'sbeing taken over with all these
types of uh of things.
I love it all, but it's gettingto a point where it's like we're
living in that what's thatmovie?
Uh my buddy joked the other daythat next next year he's
bringing back like celebritydeathmatch in real life.
SPEAKER_04 (47:59):
Yeah, it's like
we're we're living that movie,
what is it?
Uh like idiocracy, and it'slike, you know, what was the
drink in there, like booty sweator something like that?
SPEAKER_06 (48:09):
No, that's Tropic
Thunder.
Uh what was what was the drinkin um There was a drink in
electro-likes.
Yeah, that had electricity.
Yeah.
It was like a Gatorade orsomething.
SPEAKER_04 (48:20):
But it's like that's
that's what's missing from this,
you know, uh Trump America 250event, you know.
SPEAKER_06 (48:27):
What are you talking
about?
We got Logan Paul's primeeverywhere.
It's basically the same drink.
SPEAKER_04 (48:32):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (48:33):
And people are
literally walking around in
Crocs.
Uh that's what the Crocs gotintroduced by that movie, Idiot
Christy.
SPEAKER_04 (48:41):
I hate those shoes.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (48:43):
Uh, but I am a U UFC
fan, and uh just putting it out
there.
If anybody's curious what Ithink about the fights, I'm just
gonna put it.
I'm not gonna deep dive intoeach matchup or anything.
Um, but here's my picks.
And I'm not deviating off ofthis.
Uh I'm going lopes.
(49:04):
I always want to say Lopez, butit's not.
It's lopes.
And then I got uh bonechel, thenI've got Ruffy, I've got Hocket,
I got O'Malley, I'm takingPereira and Taporier.
Um Tapora.
What's the fish?
SPEAKER_04 (49:22):
Uh I think it's
Tempora.
SPEAKER_06 (49:25):
Oh, no, uh Tilapia.
Oh no, Tempora.
Yeah, you're right.
No, but the guy, the fighter'sname is Taporie, but he's from
Spain.
He's a commander's fan, by theway.
He was in all the stuff for lastyear's Spain game.
He was he was one of theircelebrities promoting that, but
that dude is bad.
(49:46):
He's one of the baddest dudes onthe planet.
All these guys could kick prettymuch 99.9% of the world's ass.
Um, I'm not questioning that.
Yeah, nor should you.
You ever come across withanybody with cauliflower ear, go
down the next aisle.
These are bad dudes.
Um, but yeah, I'm sure you getto see them on CBS on White
(50:09):
House Lawn this Sunday night at8 p.m.
SPEAKER_04 (50:12):
I'll probably tune
in.
SPEAKER_06 (50:14):
You'll you have to.
You have to.
It's gonna be an historic event.
I'm curious how it's all gonnalook, the camera angles and all
that stuff.
And if it rains, very curious.
SPEAKER_04 (50:23):
It's not supposed to
rain, I don't think.
It's supposed to be pretty warmthis weekend.
SPEAKER_06 (50:28):
We'll see, but I'm
curious about the bugs.
I mean uh like there's a lot ofthings I'm curious about, and
I'm sure all the things I'mcurious about are gonna be
non-factors, and the event willgo without go on without a
hitch.
But hard tell.
Come tune in.
We shall see.
Um, last thing on my list here, and uh you're more than welcome
to add to the fourth quarterhere in Michael, but we uh are
(50:53):
going back.
We are going back to where tothe field.
SPEAKER_05 (51:00):
Oh we're going to
be.
SPEAKER_04 (51:02):
It hasn't been, I
don't think it's been confirmed.
SPEAKER_06 (51:05):
Well, we don't have
the tickets yet.
SPEAKER_04 (51:07):
I didn't know we
were making that uh public
knowledge.
SPEAKER_06 (51:11):
I am.
I got that text message and tosend it over immediately this
week that the uh Salisburyalumni game is week three,
right?
Our first home opener againstthe Giants.
Uh and we're they're letting thethe Salisbury alumni go on the
(51:32):
field for the national anthem.
SPEAKER_04 (51:34):
Yeah, we need we
need someone to sign us up for
it again.
SPEAKER_06 (51:38):
Well, yeah, because
we're not Salisbury alum, but we
participate.
SPEAKER_04 (51:42):
What are you talking
about?
Uh I am.
I graduated in whatever year youtell me.
SPEAKER_06 (51:50):
No, we I mean the
Salisbury alum gets plus ones
for for their friends andfamily.
So yeah, we we always getinvited to that uh alumni game.
We should figure out what othertypes of organizations are doing
that type of stuff and and findfriends.
SPEAKER_04 (52:06):
We need to find out
if they're selling a t-shirt
like they did last season andget that shit reserved.
SPEAKER_06 (52:13):
Yeah, what was that
shirt let it fucking rip?
SPEAKER_04 (52:16):
Yeah, it was a Dan
Quinn Let It Rip shirt.
SPEAKER_06 (52:19):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, I was thinking about ourcommand the commute hats this
year.
You know what I think I want, Iwant gold hats with a burgundy
rope.
SPEAKER_04 (52:27):
Oh.
SPEAKER_06 (52:28):
What do you think?
SPEAKER_04 (52:29):
That'd be an
intention grabber.
SPEAKER_06 (52:30):
Yeah, yeah.
That's where I that's where I'mleaning.
But I like the rope hats.
They're slick looking.
SPEAKER_04 (52:36):
Yeah.
Um but I do have something toadd in the fourth quarter, and
then we can uh you know takethis thing home.
Um year-end merch sales for2025-26.
I have the top 10 earners.
Now, this is just for officiallylicensed merchandise, it doesn't
(53:01):
include like personalendorsements, stuff like that.
SPEAKER_06 (53:05):
Right, like from the
NFL shop or from the team's
programs and the websites likeaffiliated with the NFL.
They're their own personalstatistics.
But this is a pretty strongindicator is where like those
secondary markets are headed to.
SPEAKER_04 (53:18):
Yeah, I thought it
was a pretty I've got the top
ten.
I thought it was a prettyinteresting top ten.
SPEAKER_06 (53:24):
Yeah, give me the
rundown.
Let's hear it.
I'm curious.
SPEAKER_04 (53:26):
We're gonna go,
we'll go in reverse order.
SPEAKER_06 (53:29):
We'll go 10 before
you give me this, because I'm
gonna go 10 to 1.
Yeah, and before you give methis list, does this list
include um rookies that havejust been drafted?
SPEAKER_04 (53:40):
It includes top
earners.
SPEAKER_06 (53:43):
So it could be No,
I'm um, because I'm trying to
come up with a list of who'sgonna be on this list in my
head, but I'm curious.
Okay, so the new rookie class isincorporated onto this.
So all right, give it to me umfrom 10 to 1.
SPEAKER_04 (53:59):
10 is uh Micah
Parsons.
Hmm.
Uh nine is Jordan Love.
Eight is Caleb Williams, sevenis uh Jalen Hurts, uh six is
Mahomes.
(54:20):
Okay, five is our guy JD.
SPEAKER_06 (54:23):
Okay.
SPEAKER_04 (54:24):
Okay.
All right.
Uh four is uh Jackson SmithNajigba.
Okay.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (54:33):
All right, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (54:34):
Three is Saint Juan.
All right.
Two is Drake May.
Okay.
Fresh off his Super Bowlappearance.
And number one is uh the triedand true Josh Allen.
SPEAKER_06 (54:50):
All right.
Um I was like, am I surprised byParsons?
No, no.
SPEAKER_04 (55:01):
I was kind of
surprised by that, I'll be
honest.
SPEAKER_06 (55:03):
I I think I'm more
surprised with Jordan Love, but
Packers fans are everywhere, itseems like there's one of those
Midwest teams where you but youcan still find uh Packers fans
pretty much everywhere.
SPEAKER_04 (55:18):
And somehow I
thought I honestly thought
Mahomes would be a little higheron the list just because it's
Mahomes and you know he's he'sthe the darling of the league,
you know, and has been for acouple years now.
I kind of thought he'd be alittle higher on the list.
But as much as I was surprisedby far, I was really surprised
(55:41):
by Drake May.
SPEAKER_06 (55:43):
Well, uh yes and no.
You so like you give a slightedge with those stats to younger
players who perform well, right?
Because like with Mahomes, people have been buying his
jersey for years.
SPEAKER_04 (55:59):
Right.
SPEAKER_06 (55:59):
Right?
SPEAKER_04 (56:00):
And so the fact that
And it's not like they've come
out with a a new jerseycombination.
SPEAKER_06 (56:07):
No, no, but it just
goes to show that people are
buying duplicates.
Yeah, I need a red and a white.
Um, but with Drake Bay, and thesame thing with uh Jackson
Smith, the job you make SuperBowl, you're you're you people
are gonna be scooping up youryour jersey.
SPEAKER_04 (56:25):
Um now that's one
thing I don't do.
I can't speak for you, but Idon't buy duplicate jerseys.
I pick the scheme of the jerseythat I want in that player,
whatever it is.
SPEAKER_06 (56:38):
So this brings up a
good uh question here, and we'll
finish with this.
So um I I agree.
I mean, unless I don't know, itdepends on the team that you
have, because I have a specificcriteria uh for for jerseys that
you you purchase.
SPEAKER_04 (56:58):
Yeah, you're very
specific.
You have a very specificcriteria.
SPEAKER_06 (57:02):
Yeah, well, my
criteria with buying a jersey is
one, you hope that they're ontheir second contract.
Because if they're on theirsecond contract, then they'll be
known with that team forever, you know?
SPEAKER_03 (57:22):
Right.
SPEAKER_06 (57:22):
Their rookie deal
was four years, you sign them to
another three or four-year deal, they spend seven, eight years
with the team, they'll always beknown with that team.
You know what I mean?
They're locked in, so it's asafe bet because 10 years from
now, you could still wear thatplayer's jersey.
For instance, I've got aKerrigan jersey.
(57:43):
He was the perfect jersey toget.
As soon as he signed that seconddeal, get me that Kerrigan
jersey because I'll be able towear it forever.
Cooley.
I got a Cooley jersey, samedeal.
Now, Sean Taylor doesn't fit thebill just because of the
unfortunate events of his life, but Sean Taylor is a jersey,
(58:05):
boom, as long as they're gonnabe known.
SPEAKER_04 (58:08):
In the time that he
was with us, I mean, he he made
an impact outside of theunfortunate events that I agree
make his jersey warrantedoutside of the unfortunate
events that occurred.
SPEAKER_05 (58:23):
Right.
SPEAKER_04 (58:24):
He made enough of an
impact where it uh you can't go
wrong because not having thatjersey.
SPEAKER_06 (58:32):
Right.
So I I like I like the jersey ofthe player that signed their
second contract deal, right?
Uh for those reasons.
Uh so that's like my idealcriteria.
And then I've broken the rule.
I've broken the rule because andthe reason why I break the rule
(58:55):
is for a rookie that performswell, right?
So we drafted him, performswell, boom, I'm buying his
jersey.
I want it.
He's gonna be here forever.
He's our savior, right?
Right, you buy his jersey, andthen you hope that they sign
(59:15):
that second deal, because ifthey don't, then they're just a
bust.
Right?
Yeah, so and then it's like nowyou're just the guy walking
around in a Chase Young jersey.
SPEAKER_04 (59:28):
Guilty.
SPEAKER_06 (59:29):
Right, right.
And I don't have a Chase Youngjersey, but I do have a RG3
jersey, which I don't think isquite the same as a Chase Young
jersey walking around, you knowwhat I mean?
It's part of our history.
Um whereas Chase Young was a aWashington bus.
I don't necessarily can't callhis career a bus because I think
(59:52):
he's actually, you know, hemight end up with a pr pretty
decent career when it's all saidand done.
Now, was it number two overallpit career?
No.
No, because we're we were hopingthat he was gonna be the new
Bosa or something.
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:07):
Because if it were
if it were gonna be that number
two, he we would have signed himto that second contract.
SPEAKER_06 (01:00:15):
Yeah, yeah.
But whose jersey are you buyingthis year?
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:21):
I honestly don't
know.
I mean, I do as I already have aMcLaurin jersey.
As we've already talked, I I dolove the the new black jerseys,
but right now I don't know ifthere is a player that I need to
have.
I I I don't know because Ialready have a JD jersey, so I
(01:00:43):
don't need another one of those.
You know, because we got thosein the throwback in the
throwback uniform last year, thethe white throwback.
But right now, no, I don't thinkthere is a player right this
minute that I need to get.
SPEAKER_06 (01:00:58):
Now, I would like to
see him play first, but like I
would get a Styles jersey if heplays really well.
Um if he plays really well inthis first year and gets like
defensive rookie of the year oris in the running for it and
plays all the games.
Well, yeah, I mean it You knowwhat I mean, but then you run
the risk of that him becomingthe Chase Young jersey.
SPEAKER_04 (01:01:21):
Um right now, this
minute, no, there's no one that
I need to buy a jersey for.
SPEAKER_06 (01:01:29):
I I would lean
towards styles.
I'm leaning towards um there'spart of me that like I'm a I'm a
fan of Louvu.
So a number four Louvre jersey,I think, would be pretty cool,
but like how long are you gonnawear it?
I don't know.
I don't know.
But he's been around now.
This is his third year, so umand it's a Krosky Merit, a
(01:01:52):
Krosky Merit jersey.
It seems like too many letterson the back of my back.
SPEAKER_04 (01:01:56):
No, and uh for the
same reason, like you know, I'm
a I'm a big McCaffrey guy.
SPEAKER_06 (01:02:01):
I wouldn't get his
jersey because at least not yet,
because they if he signs thatsecond deal with us, you would
yeah, honestly, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:02:10):
But like right now,
no, because they really haven't
given him the opportunity, andhe hasn't shown what he could do
that makes it worth getting ajersey.
Yeah, if all that makes sense, yeah.
Um, the free agents we just gotlike because just because you're
(01:02:31):
high on someone doesn't meanthat they're jersey worthy,
which is the whole basis of theconversation.
SPEAKER_06 (01:02:37):
Yeah, they gotta
they gotta I gotta be a fan of
their play on the field firstand foremost.
And then after that, um but youbut at the end of the day, you
just want to feel like forwhatever reason, if I wanted to
wear this jersey 10 years fromnow, like I want that option.
So it's you gotta have to pick aselective player.
(01:02:59):
Uh because there's a bunch ofdumb fucks out there that that
uh picked up a Hainsworth jerseyas soon as we sign a device.
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:06):
And for the whole
and for the whole purpose of the
conversation, you know, yes, Ihave a Chase Young jersey, but
on game day when I'm decidingwhat jersey I want to wear,
that's like the last one in therotation that I would choose.
Yeah.
I would choose every other one.
SPEAKER_06 (01:03:25):
Is it 99?
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:27):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06 (01:03:27):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:28):
I I would chur I
would choose quite frankly, any
other jersey that I have beforeI choose.
SPEAKER_06 (01:03:35):
And all the reasons
we're mentioning right now is
why you can get a D B DeboSamuels jersey at the Dix Outlet
right now for like 15 bucks.
Yeah.
And that's it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:45):
There's a plethora
of them.
It's been a couple weeks sinceI've I've done a drop by there,
but uh yeah, there's anabundance for sure.
SPEAKER_06 (01:03:54):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway, all right.
What do you think?
You think this is a podcast?
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:00):
Yeah, I think so.
You know, I think we can I thinkwe can wrap this up and wait
patiently for Tom's critiques.
SPEAKER_06 (01:04:07):
Yeah, and then uh
our next podcast.
So in the offseason here, we'vebeen pacing out for once a
month.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:14):
We're just gonna do
it whenever it feels
appropriate.
SPEAKER_06 (01:04:17):
I will say if we
sign a wide receiver, then that
we'll have things to say.
In which case we might jump ontoa podcast a little bit earlier.
But uh until that next time,it's just Mike and I counting
down the days when our Commandthe Community podcast can hit
the road again on the way to ournext game.
So we appreciate all of you guyslistening.
