Hello, friends, and welcome backto Confidently Beautiful.
(00:45):
Today's episode is for all of myDisney lovers.
So, travel dreamers, anyone whojust wants that little bit of
extra magic in their life thatDisney brings.
I know I am a big Disney girl.
I love Disney and I don't gonearly as often as I would like.
But I am going to be chattingwith Emory Goobler.
She is the co-founder of GirlsGone Magical, which is a company
(01:06):
that helps women experience thejoy and confidence that comes
from doing something fun justfor themselves.
So Emory and her sister Tarahave created this amazing space
for women to connect and traveland rediscover their sparkle.
And it starts in the mostmagical place on earth, which is
Disney.
We all love Disney.
So we're talking all thingsDisney trips from trips with
(01:28):
going with our kids or how tomake a magical experience for
even adults.
And she's going to be maybesharing some of her favorite
rides and snacks because, ofcourse, Disney is all about the
Emmy food.
And what is next for Girls GoneMagical?
This is a brand new space thatshe and her sister have created.
And so we're excited to share alittle bit more about it.
(01:49):
So, Emery, I would love for youto introduce yourself and to
start with kind of the heartbehind all of this.
What inspired you to createGirls Gone Magical and what's
your purpose and your mission?
SPEAKER_01 (02:01):
Well, first of all,
thank you so much for having me.
You are the cutest.
Oh, that's exciting.
Her daughter just had a littlebaby boy, and he's just a few
days old.
So she sends her best.
But yeah, she is busy beinggrandma, and that's the best
(02:22):
place to be.
So, to answer your question, theheart behind Girls Gone Magical.
So it all came about because wewanted other women to feel the
same joy and spark of happinessagain, the same feeling we had
on our sisters' trips.
We've been going on quite a fewsister trips over the last
couple of years, and they, Ican't even tell you how much fun
(02:46):
we have.
So those trips were so full oflaughter and connection that we
realized how powerful it couldbe to share it with other
people, to take a little time torediscover your joy.
So we wanted to create that sameexperience for other women, and
I love planning.
She loves planning.
We love planning.
And so it was a perfect mix ofeverything we cared about.
(03:10):
So that was the main reason.
But for me personally, I was ina place where I lost my sense of
purpose and belonging for alittle bit.
I struggled with feeling aloneand with depression and with
uncertainty of how to makefriends.
Our life changes so much aswomen as we go throughout
(03:30):
different periods of life.
So I didn't want anyone else tofeel like that.
So I just wanted to bring joyand connection back into my own
life and hopefully help otherwomen to do that too in the
happiest place on earth.
SPEAKER_00 (03:42):
I really love that
whole purpose and your whole
reason for starting it.
I think that it is obvious thatyour heart is in it because it
is personal to you.
And so I think that any businessthat has like that personal
element is going to succeedbecause there's, you know, there
there is a reason why that whyit was created.
(04:03):
So I really love that.
And I think connection andmaking friends as a mom and a
woman is so hard.
And so is.
And it changes too.
I think like, okay, when my mykids, when all my kids were like
babies, it was a lot differentprocess of making friends.
(04:25):
Now I have elementary age kids, but I also still have babies,
and like that's a differentprocess in making kids.
And then I imagine like whereyou are with teenagers and older
kids, like that's gonna be a newprocess.
And so I think making thoseconnections is something that is
constantly going to be changingin a woman's life, depending on
where she is.
So I love that you've createdthis space.
SPEAKER_01 (04:47):
I am so excited, and
I don't really think of it as a
business so much as my joyproject right now.
SPEAKER_00 (04:52):
I love that.
I love it.
Okay, so let's just dive in forthose that are listening and
you're like, yes, give meDisney.
I just like let's just lay itout there right now.
What is your very first tripthat you have planned and what
could people expect if theydecided to join you on the trip?
SPEAKER_01 (05:08):
All right, our very
first trip is coming up, and
we're going for Christmas time, and I am so excited.
It's going to be December 12ththrough the 14th.
And we also have one coming upin January, January 9th through
11th.
And let me just put a plug-infor the January one.
It would make a great Christmaspresent for your husband or
(05:30):
someone special to gift to you.
But what is awesome is we planeverything for you.
So when I say everything isplanned for you, I mean
everything (05:40):
lightning lanes,
matching shirts, tickets, hotel,
the drive, even the DJ.
It's all taken care of.
So we carpool, we take a roadtrip all the way to Disneyland
together as a fun group where wecan laugh and smile and just
have fun.
So you would just show up, bringyour matching t-shirt, relax and
(06:02):
have fun.
And we want it to feel totallystress-free.
Like all the details are handledso you can just focus on having
a magical time.
Because as women, we're so busyall the time.
And we're the planners.
We always get to plan everythingfor our families all the time.
So we wanted to give this to youto for you to experience what it
(06:23):
feels like for someone to takecare of you and for you to not
have to worry about a thing.
SPEAKER_00 (06:28):
I love that.
That's so fun.
So are you and Tara joiningpeople on these trips or how are
you planning it?
SPEAKER_01 (06:36):
So we have put it
everything together and we have
signup forms, and then she and Iwill travel with you.
We will provide thetransportation, and then you
join us, and we'll all meet atone location and travel down to
Anaheim together.
SPEAKER_00 (06:52):
This is so fun.
So you're like the tour guidethat literally.
I love it.
SPEAKER_01 (06:57):
To share my
excitement about Disneyland.
And I'm not even a travel agent.
I really should look into that.
But this just seemed like just afun experience.
SPEAKER_00 (07:07):
That's really fun.
So this will be your very firsttrip in December.
And I'm so excited to see likewhat kind of the friends that
you get to make, the connectionsthat the women who go on this
trip get to make.
I think it will be really fun.
Why did you choose Disney?
What is it about Disney thatjust feels so magical to you,
especially like as an adult?
Because I know a lot of peopleare like, Disney's for kids, but
(07:30):
I'm there's a lot of adults wholove Disney.
So tell me what it is thatbrings you to Disney.
SPEAKER_01 (07:35):
I completely
understand.
I had that same feeling.
Like, why would you go toDisneyland without your kids?
And I happened to go for thefirst time with my husband for
our anniversary.
And he suggested it.
And I was very surprised becausewe hadn't gone very much.
We'd taken our kids uh here orthere, but it was magical.
It was amazing.
(07:56):
I love my children, but as amother, and it's you plan
everything and you have to thinkabout how long do we have until
the next person needs a bathroomtrip?
Or uh how do we feed everyone?
And you just have to keepanswering all these questions
all day long.
So it's not necessarily yourvacation, it's your child
children's vacation, which is agreat thing, but to go for
(08:18):
yourself.
So Disneyland is justtailor-made to make you happy.
Everything is clean, it smellsamazing, and the cast members
are just incredible.
So everyone there is working tospread joy and that energy, you
just that's what makes thoseDisneyland fans super fans
because the energy is justcontagious.
(08:40):
It's not just a theme park, it'sa place where you can escape
real life for a bit and connectwith people and just feel pure
happiness.
And it's just an experience thatfills your heart.
So yeah, Disneyland all the way.
SPEAKER_00 (08:54):
I love Disney.
I know I always say when I takemy kids' places, it's either uh
it's usually a trip if I take mykids.
It's just a trip.
But if I go somewhere with likemy friends or my husband, then
it's a vacation.
SPEAKER_01 (09:06):
Then it's a
vacation.
SPEAKER_00 (09:07):
Oh, I like that.
Yes.
I'm like, yes, I totallyunderstand.
Like, you know, thinking all ofthe kids' schedules in your
mind.
So I love that you chose Disneyfor adults for that reason.
SPEAKER_01 (09:17):
Like it's just,
yeah, it's just and for women,
so we can laugh and have a goodtime.
Because can when women gettogether, yes, oh, all your
cares go out the window.
It is, it's a magical thing.
SPEAKER_00 (09:30):
Yeah.
So okay.
So we these this and your tripsare for women, but what are like
if there's a mom listeningthat's just like, I just want my
kids to experience this, like, even though it's gonna be a trip
for me, like it's not gonna beit's not gonna be a vacation.
Like, what are your like topthree tips for moms who want to
(09:50):
take their kids to Disney?
SPEAKER_01 (09:52):
All right.
So I have gone a few times withmy family and absolutely love it
and they enjoy it too.
They're actually quite jealousof this trip and say, I'm just,
you know, let me just hop on inthe van with you.
You won't even notice me.
But it is not for them, it's forus.
But when you go with yourfamily, one of the things, um,
if you're on the fence aboutwhether your kids are too old
(10:14):
for a stroller, like if you'reeven slightly on the front fence
about it, bring the stroller.
You'll thank yourself later.
Those little ones and theirlittle tiny cute legs get
charged way too fast, and itmakes all the difference in the
end at the end of the day.
Uh, second, I would say planahead because if you have never
been to the park before, or evenif you have, figuring out the
(10:37):
kids' favorite rides.
You can look them up online, oryou can get them excited about,
or if they have favorite Disneymovies, just plan ahead to the
things that you want to do mostbecause you might not get to
everything.
And you have to, you kind ofhave to accept that when you're
taking kids, that the magic isjust being there.
And maybe uh the last thing, definitely building downtime.
(11:00):
So there's great ways to liketake breaks and let your body
rest.
So grab those snacks, sit downto watch your parade just to
give your feet a break.
Um, those little pauses keepeverybody happy and they really
help you enjoy the moment more.
SPEAKER_00 (11:14):
Yeah, definitely.
I love like all the shows andstuff that they have there and
just like strategically placingthem throughout your day.
Like have a have a little break, but still be entertained and
feeling the fun.
Okay, so that's with your thoseare your tips for kids.
What would you say for yourmust-do's for adults when they
(11:35):
go to Disney without kids?
SPEAKER_01 (11:37):
I very much support
doing both.
But if you are going to go on agirls' trip or even as adults,
the biggest tip that I have isto let yourself have fun and
feel like a kid again.
Because that's where the joycomes.
Don't overthink it.
Just let yourself soakeverything in and just have fun.
It really is the place for youto forget all the other to-do
(12:00):
lists and the dishes and all thechores and the errands.
You get to go and just have fun.
And the biggest decisions youmake are what should we eat
next?
You know, you just take in theatmosphere, eat all the snacks.
May I repeat, eat all thesnacks.
Calories don't count at Disney.
Um, don't quote me on that, butI believe it's true.
(12:21):
Um, ride your favorite rides andlaugh till your cheeks hurt.
I'm not really like, I don'tlove to wear the Disney ears,
but I love matching shirts.
I love seeing all of the manythings that Disneyland has to
offer, but just seeing everybodyso united in enjoy.
Oh, soak it all up.
(12:42):
Just soak it all up.
unknown (12:43):
Yes.
SPEAKER_00 (12:44):
Okay, speaking of
the food, we have to know what
your favorite Disney food is.
What's your favorite treat?
What's your favorite snack?
SPEAKER_01 (12:51):
Okay, so my sister
Tara, I asked her this, and she
is your classic dole whip girl.
Yeah.
Okay.
Has to get one every time.
For me, I'm not a pineapplegirl.
So I really am a churro girl, hands down.
Like there's just somethingabout the fresh, warm churro at
(13:11):
Disney.
It's just pure happiness.
But I also cannot, you know, walk away from chocolate.
So give me a good Tigger tail.
And the Tigger Tails are like amix of marshmallow, caramel, and
chocolate.
And they look sparkly and fun.
And I'm a sucker for sprinklestoo.
I don't know why.
But yeah, when we go as sisters,we eat all the things.
(13:36):
All of the things.
SPEAKER_00 (13:38):
Okay, do you have
like a favorite spot that you go
for like a lunch or a dinner,like a meal?
SPEAKER_01 (13:45):
Oh, the Mexican
restaurant has some really yummy
food.
SPEAKER_00 (13:49):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (13:50):
And I love getting
their tacos or they have a
really yummy salad.
When I go with my family, youknow, their chicken strips and
fries.
It's easy and it feeds a lot ofpeople.
So I am all about enjoyingDisney, but I also am very
budget friendly.
I don't always buy all thethings I say that uh I spend
(14:11):
more on food than merch.
Um, the food is my merch.
But uh but when I go with mysisters, it's always kind of fun
because we we just get a coupleof things and we're like, hey,
do you want to try my taco?
And I'll try a little bit ofthis, or you you get a variety
of desserts and you cut off apiece of each of them, and
(14:33):
everybody gets a taste ofeverything.
It's just with girls' trips, itjust makes it so fun to turn
everything into a magicalmoment.
It really does.
SPEAKER_00 (14:43):
What's your favorite
Disney ride or favorite moment,
like a parade or something inDisney that you just love?
SPEAKER_01 (14:49):
All right.
For me, it's riding ThunderMountain at nighttime.
It Thunder Mountain is alwaysamazing.
Don't get me wrong.
I it's my favorite ride, butriding it at night during the
fireworks.
You're just enjoying the ride, the music's going and the
fireworks are bursting, and it'sjust magical every single time.
(15:10):
And Tara, my sister, she had thehardest time answering this
question.
I said, just pick anything.
And she just started laughingand said, everything.
I can't pick just one thing,it's everything.
So I honestly think that's per aperfect answer because the whole
experience just feels magicaljust from start to finish.
SPEAKER_00 (15:28):
Is so if you do
Thunder Mountain during the
fireworks, do you typically findthat it's easy to get on?
SPEAKER_01 (15:34):
It's easier, yes.
But it is it is a catch 22because the fireworks are so
amazing too.
So it's just in that moment howyou're feeling because you can
still ride Thunder Mountain atnight and it'll still be
amazing.
And usually that's something Ido if I have multiple days at
the park.
If you have just one, I'd sayenjoy Thunder Mountain during
(15:58):
the day or in the evening andthen enjoy the fireworks shows
separately.
But it's really an awesomeexperience.
SPEAKER_00 (16:05):
Your brand, your
page, it's all about creating
joy-filled experiences,connection for women.
How do you think that travel orjust getting away and doing
something fun for yourself orwith your friends can really
help a woman to feel moreconfident and just alive in
herself again?
SPEAKER_01 (16:24):
Oh, I love this
question.
I think one of the most powerfulthings women can do is take time
for themselves.
I personally know for so manyyears I felt guilty.
Like, how can I spend time onmyself?
It feels selfish.
But honestly, we're moms or busywith jobs, and it's easy to put
ourselves last.
(16:44):
But when you take a few days tostep away, it changes
everything.
It you are able to come backrefreshed and with a feeling of
fulfillment, or you just feelmore yourself again.
You're you have more to give toeveryone else.
When you fill your own cup, youcan give more to others.
And that's really what Girls GodMagical is all about.
It's about creating a spacewhere you can laugh and connect
(17:08):
with other people.
Uh, I don't know about you, butwhen I had young kids, uh just
being able to have anotherconversation with another adult
was something I looked forwardto.
I couldn't wait for my husbandto get home so I could have an
adult conversation.
Uh, and having, you know, otherwomen to just share your joy of
(17:28):
life with and and remember whoyou are outside of all the
everyday roles that we play.
SPEAKER_00 (17:34):
What's next for
Girls Gone Magical, this joy
project of yours that I love somuch?
Um trips, but anything else thatyou kind of like have in the
making?
SPEAKER_01 (17:44):
Oh, more trips.
You know, it has been plannedlike quite often, hopefully once
a month.
So lots of different women canexperience it because right now
we are just small and sweet andare taking a group of about five
or six women, and it's it's aroad trip.
And so to offer it to multiplepeople to have that chance, uh,
(18:07):
we want to do it for a varietyof times throughout the year.
Um, and it's all about laughterand fun and new experiences and
helping each other discover orrediscover the joy of Disney.
But at the heart of it all,Girls Gone Magical is about
lifting one another up andencouraging each other and
celebrating who we are.
(18:28):
It's about womanhood, friendship, and finding joy
together.
And so that's why I'm so gladyou had me on this podcast
because when I learned aboutyour podcast, I was just like,
oh my goodness, that is exactlywhat I love, that what I want.
And to bring the magic, you'rebringing magic into everyday
life.
And that's what I hope to do onour trips to Disney.
SPEAKER_00 (18:51):
I really love that.
Okay, so people need to makesure they're following you.
You're on Instagram and Facebookat Girls Gone Magical.
Is that right?
That's right.
Okay, I will include those linksin the show notes.
Um, but Embry, one question thatI like to ask, this does not
have to be related to anythingDisney or a girls' trip or
anything, but just somethingthat I like to ask all of my
guests is what is one thing thatyou try and do every day to help
(19:15):
you feel more confident?
SPEAKER_01 (19:17):
That's a hard
question.
Honestly, it it really isbecause confidence is tricky.
And I love that you're talkingabout it because we have
confidence, but then we lose ourconfidence or we forget who we
really are or how strong we are.
So I'm gonna first answer for mysister Tara and then answer for
(19:40):
myself.
She says she finds herconfidence in and remembers it
more in a simple hug from herhusband.
She said it just makes all thedifference in her day, and that
small moment reminds her thatshe's loved and supported.
And I love that becauseconfidence can come from all
different places.
For me, it's my faith.
(20:02):
My confidence comes fromtrusting my savior and knowing
that I'm not alone.
I think that the world can besuch a big place, and often we
we just we doubt ourselves.
As women, I would love to saythat we're always confident, but
we we do we doubt ourselves waytoo much, and it's it's really
(20:26):
tough.
And so I have to trust in mysavior and know that I'm not
alone.
That knowledge gives me peaceand strength every single day.
And I think between Tara'sanswer and mine, it's just
faith, love, family, andconnection is how you can gain
confidence in so many ways.
SPEAKER_00 (20:46):
Yeah, it's just the
simple things.
It's really, it's not, itdoesn't need to be anything
complicated or hard.
So I love your both of youranswers.
So thank you for sharing.
And I'm glad that you got someof Tara's answers so we could
have her here in the podcast, even though she's not here.
But I'm almost more envious ofher because she is like perfect
little baby.
(21:06):
I know, I know, it's true.
SPEAKER_01 (21:08):
My baby is almost
11.
Next week she'll be 11.
You know what?
This week she'll be 11.
And they it goes by so fast.
It goes so by so fast.
SPEAKER_00 (21:20):
Well, thank you,
Emery.
That was really fun.
And to tell Tara thank you.
So thank you for tuning in.
And I think I love how Emory andTara are combining travel and
community and confidence intosomething that just can remind
us that it's okay to step awayfrom like the daily routine and
to find something joyful andfind that connection.
(21:40):
So if you want to follow alongor join them on one of their
upcoming trips, then make sureyou go to their Instagram at
Girls GoneMagical, or you canfind them on Facebook and tell
her, tell them that you heardabout them through Confidently
Beautiful.
And as always, thank you forlistening and sharing and being
part of this beautiful communityof women and for choosing
(22:01):
confidence and joy andself-expression every single
day.
So thank you again, Emery.
And I will talk to you guysagain next week.
So thank you.
Thanks for listening.
Connect with me on Instagram atconfidently beautiful podcast
