Sheila (00:01):
Five years ago, I made a
pivot that would greatly
influence my life and work.
Today, in this episode, I'mgoing to share how that choice
was the key to opening upopportunities.
I would never have imagined formyself Opportunities that have
gone on to positively impact somany more lives than my own.
I'll walk you through what itlooked like to hold the vision,
even when it felt too big, sothat you can do the same without
(00:24):
selling yourself short ormissing the opportunities that
are actually yours, because ifyou say yes to what's available
instead of what's aligned, you'll always feel like you're
living someone else's version ofsuccess.
Hi, welcome to the podcast.
I'm Sheila Botelho and I'mcommitted to help you reconnect
to your purpose, elevate yourwellbeing and build your version
(00:47):
of a happy, successful life.
You're listening to a mini-sodewhere I share an insight
designed to help you live intowhat lights you up.
This week, something has beencircling in my mind this week.
You know those moments whereyou feel the bigness of what
you're here to do.
You know those moments whereyou feel the bigness of what
you're here to do and it'sexciting and it's lighting you
up, but it also feels like, whoa, can I even hold all of this.
(01:11):
Well, I remember feeling thatexact tension about five years
ago.
I had already built multiplestreams of income, I had clients
, opportunities and otherinvitations flowing in, but
something about it felt a littlebit off.
It was like I was standing in ahouse that I didn't remember
designing, you know, and it's sointeresting because it was
starting to feel that way beforeeverything shifted in 2020,
(01:34):
right, so it looked good onpaper, but it wasn't really
feeling super aligned.
And isn't it interesting?
How, then, life will just showus what we actually need to see,
because I realized that, really, this vision at first was not
really mine from the ground up.
And that's when I made a veryuncomfortable but freeing
(01:54):
decision, and that was to startshaping my business and life
exactly the way I wanted, notjust stepping into what was
being offered, what was justthere, kind of the easy route in
front of me.
And let me tell you, thatdecision scared me a bit because
my gifts, my vision, they allfelt too big to hold in terms of
(02:15):
what was next for me.
And if you're anything like that, if you're anything like me in
this regard, you have had alsoseasons where the dreams and
visions and opportunities comingyour way felt really, really
aligned on paper, and yet alittle voice keeps popping up
saying to you are you ready?
(02:35):
What if you mess it up?
What if this makes you toovisible?
And what I've learned throughthis experience is that
resistance like that usuallyisn't about a lack of ability.
It's about the stretch that ittakes to become the person who
can stand in that much lightwithout shrinking.
(02:59):
And this also is one of thoselessons that has happened more
than once in my life.
In fact, it is a recurringtheme and you may find that it
is for you too, and I'm sure itwill pop up again.
This is part of expansion andyou'll notice, as you expand in
(03:19):
your life, you'll find yourselfcoming back to the same
foundational principles thathave helped you start other
things in the past.
Truly, we love, as we'regrowing, as we're changing, as
we're adapting new philosophies,we start to look around and
when you've been around longenough, you start looking back
and saying, oh, I've been herebefore.
(03:42):
It was regarding somethingdifferent, I was at a different
phase of my life, but it's asimilar theme.
Everything is about thefundamentals and the mistake I
see a lot of seasonedentrepreneurs make and I almost
made myself this time around isthinking that you have to leap
from where you are now straightinto the biggest version of that
(04:05):
dream.
Because you see where it can go.
You're just like, okay, I justwanna get there now, get me
there faster.
But holding your vision.
It's not a one and done, itreally is a practice.
You're not putting on aperformance.
Really.
What you need to do is you needto take the time required.
(04:25):
You don't need to haveeverything arrive all at once.
You can grow into it by takingone aligned action at a time.
So your energy and your spirit, your nervous system, if you
will, and your capacity toexpand will happen naturally
instead of snapping underpressure, which can happen.
(04:47):
So for me, five years ago, whatthat looked like was saying no
to certain kind of more prestigeprojects that really weren't
mine to carry, to buildingprograms that reflected my
philosophy of self-care as abusiness strategy, and also
creating containers where bothmy clients and I could thrive
(05:08):
without burning out.
And the key here is, every timeI honored my capacity instead
of just chasing the biggestpossible result, my results
actually started to grow withoutexhausting me, and that's the
part that people don't oftentalk about, that when you're
saying that you're doingsomething less, like you're
(05:29):
doing less, you don't have asmuch on your calendar, it
doesn't mean you're playingsmall.
It means you're letting yourenergy focus only on what
creates the most meaningfulimpact for you in that season of
your life.
So this week, my question foryou is what is one gift you've
been given a talent, anopportunity, a dream that feels
(05:53):
a little too big right now?
And what's one small soulhonoring step that you can take
to grow into it without totallyburning yourself out?
Let's let this week be aboutwalking toward our bigness, one
aligned step at a time.
Thanks so much for listening.
(06:13):
