Welcome to "Counsel from Above" podcast. This is a place to ask questions concerning mental health, relationships, parenting, and the like and receive an answer based on God's word and the current mental health research. I am the host Nathan Honeycutt, Licensed Professional Counselor and minister of the church of Christ. We will explore together the intersection of the Bible and mental health to help bring some of God's answers to light in this dark world. God has provided the answers we just have to know where to look. This podcast is a question and answer-based program. I need your questions to help guide the discussion. You can send your questions to counselfromabove@gmail.com. You will receive confirmation of your question and a date to be listening for the answer. I will gather guests along the way that can help provide further answers to questions that are sent. You can find the podcast on your favorite podcasting platform. Join together on this journey as we allow the Great Counselor to provide us "Counsel from Above."
In this episode we will explore our options after disciplining our child only to find out we made a mistake. When humanity happens what we do can make a major difference in our life and the child's life. Making mistakes is a part of life. What we do after is what helps us show an example worth following.
Emotions are a part of humanity. Did God create all emotions or did some come from somewhere else? Are emotions inherently good or bad? What does God want from our emotions?
This is the final episode for the podcast. Thank you so much for all the support and continued willingness to send questions and listen to the responses.
Can the innocent party forgive their spouse and still get divorced? Does forgiveness require the innocent party to remain in the marriage?
The simple answer is "very carefully." For a more detailed answer check out this weeks episode to identify things that can or should be in place to overcome infidelity.
One of the most devestating decisions that can be made in a marriage is infidelity. Is it possible for this to be survived and overcome? This episode is focused on just that. Is it possible to overcome infidelity?
One of the hardest situations of a Christian family is knowing how to respond to family members that make ungodly choices. How do we show compassion, love, and kindness without it being seen as approval? In this episode we will explore our options and consider actions that God would approve.
Helping others is a privilege and service to God. At times we look for things to do for others only to be told that there is no need. How do we help those in need if they are not willing to tell us? This episode focuses on how we find out what others need and work to fulfill those needs.
It is clear in scripture that gossiping is not acceptable to God. The question for this episode is when do you know you have crossed the line from having an innocent conversation and gossiping. We will explore the scriptures together to consider God's perspective on the line.

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
