Today I share a beautiful conversation with the wonderful Actor & Producer, Raphael Corkhill. Raphael is currently producing a historical feature called “The German King,” which follows an award-winning short film of the same name that he co-produced and acted in. He is also currently playing the lead in an independent feature called “Manny,” which is about a boxer who leads a secret life as a drag queen. In addition to that, Raphael is an avid voiceover actor and is in the upcoming video game “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.” He has also narrated countless audio books and has won numerous awards for his narration work: including several “Headphones Awards” from Audiofile Magazine, an Audie Award (which is the audiobook equivalent of an Oscar) and an Odyssey Award.

Raphael is deeply committed to his creative work and having him on the show to speak about his journey is a real treat. I wish all of you an inspiring time listening to this conversation and may your day be filled with creativity, joy and beauty!

EPISODE QUOTES

“Being an actor, I think, is a constant process of discovery, and being open to new things. And that’s a real joy.” - Raphael Corkhill

On acting: “The journey of it, the mission, the quest of if, that really feeds my creative spirit. And the expression of it. Allowing something that’s bigger than me. And being part of something that’s much bigger than me to feed into me and to just contribute to that. That’s really very important to me.” - Raphael Corkhill

May this episode bring you joy & inspiration!

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
