Episode 86 of the Check Your Six podcast brought Army Veteran Ethel Harris into the GRP Studios to talk about the Boy Scouts of America. Ethel is the current District Executive, Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America and is bringing a fresh perspective into her role leading this organization. We talked about a lot of her passion, her background, why she chose the career she did in the Army, how she landed at the BSA and a variety of other topics. It really was a great insight into who she was and an honest view of her abilities, even though we had a lot of laughs at her "deployment" to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. As a young, African American woman, it might not be someone you would expect to be the leading the Central Florida Council, but she surprised me with how grounded she is in how she views herself and her capabilities. I have a feeling that grounding came from her Marine father and her mother and I can't wait to see what she does going forward.
