Dodgers-Padres might be the best

We hear a lot about rivalries in baseball. Yankees-Red Sox, Dodgers-Giants, Cubs-Cardinals. But what are we to make with what transpired this past week at Dodger Stadium? You can make a strong case the best rivalry in baseball right now is Dodgers-Padres. I break it all down in my latest DAN ON SPORTS podcast.

So intense has this rivalry become that three were suspended because of the Thursday night brawl. By the way, the Dodgers-Padres renew their rivalry on Aug. 15 at Dodger Stadium.

Chapman wins battle over Devers

The Red Sox are hot and Friday night, Aroldis Chapman battled Rafael Devers to get the save in Boston’s scintillating 7-5 win at San Francisco.

While the Red Sox continue to defeat teams with winning records, the first place, but reeling Yankees are 1-4 on this homestand against teams with losing records. New York lost to last place Baltimore, 5-3, Friday night. Meanwhile, the Mets continue their free fall, annihilated by the Phillies, 10-2, to drop out of first place, one game back of Philadelphia. The Amazins’, anything but, have lost seven straight.
