I'm so excited to spend thistime with you and, for those of
you who are new to the podcast, thank you for checking it out.
For those of you who have beenaround for a while, thank you
for being here, for listeningand for coming back week after
(00:47):
week.
Today is a really importantepisode for me to share with you
.
Last week's episode was titledbeing the Entrepreneur of your
Life.
It's episode number 73.
If you haven't listened, I thinkit would be amazing to pause
and go back and listen to thatepisode, because it really is
(01:08):
kind of a setup to what we'regoing to talk about today, which
is being the entrepreneur ofyour life, which is about being
innovative, meaning doing thingsdifferently or doing things
that have never been done before.
That's what an entrepreneurdoes and that's what an
innovator does.
There's someone who hasembraced this idea about really
(01:31):
creating and tapping into theirown innate creativity to
challenge the status quo, topush boundaries and achieve
growth.
And my invitation to you iswhat if you took these qualities
(02:01):
of a great entrepreneur andreally applied these principles
of entrepreneurship in oureveryday life, our marriage, our
family, the way we're raisingour boys and the way I've built
a business, and we have thiscommitment to continually create
what works?
It has provided for a verydifferent experience of life,
(02:25):
and one that I just have apassion and a purpose to share
with others, and it's verycontrary to the way that I lived
for many years of my life, which was feeling at the mercy
of my circumstances, feelingpowerless and going through the
motions, and maybe you canrelate to that.
This approach is a verypowerful.
Being an entrepreneur in yourlife has truly allowed for a
(02:49):
much different experience ofthis life, and it doesn't mean
that life has been perfect byany means, but we have taken an
active part in influencing, shaping and choosing the way we
show up to what is happening, and that has allowed for more
aliveness, more joy, more peace, more fulfillment and a
(03:14):
commitment to creating aroundevery corner to align with
what's in our hearts to be anddo in this time that we're here
on this earth.
And today's episode is really aculmination of the work that I
get to do now and have beendoing for years with amazing
clients and individuals all overthe country and even outside of
(03:36):
the country, teaching people toapproach life as entrepreneurs,
innovating in the little nooksand crannies to shape a life
that feels like their own, thatembodies their innermost values
and aligns with their biggestdreams.
I shared last week how we haverealized that this is an
(03:57):
approach to life similar to howan entrepreneur approaches
business, and I'm excited toshare with you today that we
have landed on a concept thatwe've created that really
embodies it all, and we want toshare this with you and have you
join us on this journey andbring to life something that
(04:18):
we've been really living andteaching for years.
It is called lifepreneurship.
It's about being a lifepreneur.
So what is a lifepreneur?
Lifepreneurship is a way ofthinking about life, a way of
doing life and a mindset andphilosophy for living.
(04:38):
So a lifepreneur approacheslife like a great entrepreneur
approaches business.
Lifepreneurs take the risk tocreate and live life boldly,
authentically and in alignmentwith their values.
According to the OxfordLanguages Dictionary, an
entrepreneur is defined as aperson who organizes and
(05:00):
operates a business orbusinesses, taking on greater
than normal financial risk inorder to do so and reaping the
rewards financial risk in orderto do so and reaping the rewards
.
A lifepreneur is a person whoorganizes, operates and assumes
(05:22):
the risk of intentionallycreating the moments of their
life.
It's a way of living that isnot determined by your
circumstances, but by yourwillingness to show up, innovate
and adapt to the moments youfind yourself.
Just as an entrepreneur investscapital and takes that risk and
invents solutions to problemsin order to grow revenue and
create impact and build abusiness, a lifepreneur invests
(05:44):
energy and time to be innovativeand relentless in solving and
overcoming everyday problems andchallenges for the sake of
building a life, a marriage, afamily, a career or whatever it
is for you that is out of thebox, a little extra ordinary,
(06:05):
unique and a reflection of yourdeepest values.
Every week, I have theopportunity of talking and
walking with my clients throughthe moments in their lives where
they get to be a lifepreneur, where circumstances in their
life might feel fixed andfrustrating, where they feel
powerless, and what we do is getin there and unpack their
(06:29):
thinking and stir their thinking, challenge their mind and look
from different angles, approaching the situation like
an entrepreneur, where they cancreate breakthroughs and open
doors and see and approachthings in a new and different
way, and they come back toreport new and different, far
(06:52):
more fulfilling, exciting andinspiring outcomes.
And I want to give you a senseof what that looks like.
While I have a breakthroughcoaching program that really
lays the foundation for you tobe a lifepreneur in your own
life, there are themes andsituations that inevitably have
come up over and over and overagain over the years, because
(07:14):
they are the things that we facein our everyday lives, whether
it's a lingering pressure aroundthis idea that we should be
fulfilling this greater purpose,or a communication issue in
your marriage, or an upset withyour teen and you're feeling
like you suck as a mom, achallenge in your work, a hiccup
in your confidence or abreakdown of frustration because
(07:36):
things are just not moving asfast as you would like them to.
When I approach theseconversations with a client, my
intention is to listen deeply,to help them unpack their
thinking from their head, reallychallenge the places where we
can challenge, where there maybe outdated ideas or beliefs or
(07:56):
mindsets and help them to pullout the pieces where they
actually have control to shiftor shape the outcome to make
sure that it aligns with whatthey really, really want in
their life.
And so let's look at a few ofthose.
If we look at this idea ofpressure around purpose, there's
often clients show up withfeeling this inadequacy that
(08:18):
they should be doing somethingbigger or better.
And because they're notorganizing a cancer walk or
solving world hunger, they feelinadequate.
And in those moments it'sreally about helping the client
innovate and tap into andextract what purpose means for
them and their life, as opposedto feeling this pressure that it
(08:42):
should look like what somebodyelse is doing.
And out of those conversationsI've had clients really land on
their unique and differentpurpose for their everyday life.
And sometimes that's notsolving some huge world problem,
but it's just simply a way thatthey choose to show up and
(09:03):
something they bring to everyinteraction in their everyday
life, in their everyday life.
When we look at a missedcommunication or upset with a
spouse or a friend wheresomething's gone awry,
lifepreneurship is aboutdisarming the upset, unpacking
the emotion so that you can stepback and take ownership for the
(09:25):
parts that are yours to own andreally invent a new approach or
a way of creating resolutionthat aligns with the bigger goal
that you have for thatrelationship who you want to be
and how you want to show up toeach and every one of your
relationships.
(09:46):
If it's an upset that you'vehad with your teen or child,
lifepreneurship is aboutresisting the urge to react and
have regret later.
Lifepreneurship is about takingthe time to again sort of
disarm the upset and figure outwhat your larger goal is in this
(10:10):
picture, so that you can showup and be the parent that you
want to be without being drivenby your emotion and reactions,
and this creates a verydifferent outcome for you and
the relationship you have withyour child.
If it's a work situation, Ioften see clients show up really
(10:32):
excited maybe they have a newjob opportunity and they're so
excited about this opportunityand inspired and eager to get
started.
And then, maybe a week later, Italked to them and suddenly
they're sinking in doubt andfear of what if I don't show up
and perform the way that they'reexpecting me to, and they feel
(10:52):
powerless and resigned and arepreparing to avoid what they
don't want and are preparing toavoid what they don't want.
Lifepreneurship in thesemoments is about equipping my
clients with the tools of focus,so shifting their focus from
what they don't want to whatthey do want.
In this moment of starting anew job, they wanna show up and
(11:15):
they wanna be a leader, theywanna collaborate, they wanna
create connection with peopleand be able to share their ideas
, and so I remind them of thatvision they have and then equip
them to align their thinking andtheir actions to that vision so
that they can show up in theway that they want to and
(11:35):
increase the likelihood of theirideal outcome actually
happening.
In situations of just feelingfrustrated in life because
things are not progressing ormoving in the direction that you
want them to, an example Ioften see with this is someone
who's waiting and hoping to havethe time to do the things that
(11:58):
really matter to them.
Lifepreneurship is aboutdigging deep inside to
understand why you continue toset aside your own goals and
your own needs for yourwell-being and your life for the
sake of always saying yes orpleasing others.
And lifepreneurship in thismoment looks like equipping the
(12:20):
client with the ability andpermission to set really healthy
boundaries so that they canstart to guard their time and
energy to make time for thethings that are the largest
rocks and the biggest prioritiesin their life, and the impact
of this is quite extraordinary.
Another moment that I've oftenfound myself helping a client
(12:44):
innovate inside of is justhaving a hiccup in confidence,
and it might look like you'repreparing to get married or
change your living arrangement.
And while you were so excitedin the beginning, all of a
sudden your mind has gotten youfocused on everything that could
go wrong and all the thingsthat you fear.
(13:05):
And in this moment, innovationand lifepreneurship looks like
getting really deeply connectedto that vision that you set out,
to collecting evidence for allthe reasons why you were in the
perfect moment and ready tobuild this into your life and
aligning all of your thinkingand your behaviors and your
(13:27):
actions to this vision, so thatyou can continue to take those
small steps that will bring thisvision to life for you.
Bring this vision to life foryou.
Lifepreneurship is a differentapproach and a wake up call, an
invitation to get off thesidelines of your life and onto
(13:47):
the court.
This is especially for those ofyou who've been feeling like
you've been going through themotions, working so hard and
pouring so much energy intoeverything you do, but not
making the traction that youdesire.
This is for those of you whoknow in your heart that there's
a different way, a different wayof doing life that doesn't
(14:08):
involve going through themotions and waking up to what
feels like Groundhog Day everyday.
This truly is a philosophy anda roadmap to taking ownership
for the things that are withinyou and your ability to create a
more well-rounded, fulfillinglife.
If this resonates with you andyou want to learn how to be a
(14:31):
lifepreneur in your own life, Iinvite you to take action.
Set up a call with me.
I would love to meet you andhelp you see what this could
mean for you and your life.
I've been guiding clientsthrough this for years.
I have a roadmap and a path towalk you through becoming a
lifepreneur, that everydayinnovator, and get ready for a
(14:54):
rich, creative adventure thatcan take place each and every
day.
It's work, yes, but the bestkind of work.
Like an entrepreneur, you andyour loved ones will reap all
the rewards of the heart andhard work that you put into
building a life that is a littleextra ordinary is a little
(15:23):
extra ordinary.
