What happens when you stop following the maps others have drawn for you and start navigating by your own internal compass? For years, I diligently checked all the boxes society promised would lead to happiness – school, career, marriage – until that carefully constructed life came crashing down around me.

This episode invites you to become an innovator of your everyday existence. Your life isn't defined by your bank account, job title, or circumstances but by the choices you make in each moment.

Get ready to challenge the status quo and do life differently.

Enjoy!

Speaker 1 (00:01):
I'm Carla Reeves, and this is Differently.
Whether you feel stuck insurvival, navigating a change,
or seeking more for your life, may this podcast be your weekly
nudge to take a risk to build alife that is uniquely bold,
authentic and in alignment withyour deepest values.
What if you worried less aboutthe bumps in the road and

(00:23):
instead got equipped for thejourney?
Get ready to rethink what'spossible.
I followed the map for years.
It took me on a journey ofchecking the boxes, the ones
that I thought would lead to ahappy, successful life.
You know, go to school, get ajob, get married but that all

(00:47):
came crumbling down.
I didn't know about the compassuntil reading Serenivus Rao.
One of his first books calledthe Art of being Unmistakable.
I learned that a map is whatthe world, or our culture or our
parents give us to follow.
A compass is unique to yourdesign, designed especially for

(01:10):
you.
Have you ever hoped, asked orwaited for someone to give you
permission to do something thatwas already on your heart to do?
I did this for years, waitingand hoping.
The truth is, no one can seeyour compass.
They're giving you advice fromtheir own lens, their own way of
surviving life and their owncompass.

(01:32):
Living by a map is livingaccording to what we once
thought we should do.
Living intentionally isdesigning a life that feels true
and aligned to your own compass.
Is designing a life that feelstrue and aligned to your own
compass.
It's not a formula someone elsegives you, but a rhythm you
find by deeply listening, trusting and acting from within.

(01:53):
It's operating from a place oftruth, trust and acceptance that
you've been given an internalcompass that's uniquely designed
to lead your life.
In Serenivus Rao's bookUnmistakable, in the foreword it
reads this most people areafraid.

(02:14):
Most people get comfortable ina life that seems tolerable
enough.
They don't have the time, theycomplain and may actually
believe it.
The price is that moment nearthe end when you realize that
your life never belonged to you.
You never stepped up, you neverowned it, you never showed us
who you really are.
Our task now is to destroy allthose old structures out in the

(02:39):
world and deep within us, toshrug off the armor, strip away
the bullshit, open ourselves upand out with the tenderness and
vulnerability of a child we nolonger are, so we can take our
power as adults and build a newkind of life, an authentic life
that sets our inner misfits toplay in a world that doesn't yet

(03:01):
realize how badly it needs them, in a world that doesn't yet
realize how badly it needs them.
Somewhere between what yoursoul knows and what the world
wants you to know is your choiceabout what kind of story you
will live and how you will liveit.
Our inner misfits are wiserthan we are and whispering to us
all the time.
The only question is are welistening?

(03:24):
Justine Musk.
The first time I read this, andevery time I read it since, it
just lights a fire inside of me,it's like a quest or a mission
that I'm on to do this in my ownlife, over and over and over
again, and to guide others to dothe same in their life again,

(03:48):
and to guide others to do thesame in their life.
The invitation is to be aninnovator of your everyday life.
Life doesn't have to be definedby your bank account, your job,
your circumstances.
You have creative power tochoose in every moment where
you're headed, what's mostimportant and how you're going
to show up to what's happening, and those choices are what

(04:11):
ultimately create your life.
This can be the most creativeadventure of your life.
What will you create today.
Thank you for tuning in to thisepisode of Differently.
It's been an honor to sharethis conversation with you.
You know, one of the keys toliving fully is to take action

(04:33):
when you're inspired to do so.
I hope you found that spark ofinspiration today and would you
help us spread the word.
