SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
A deep change in the
way that we live requires a deep
change in the way that we think.
I'm Carla Reeves, and this isdifferently.
Hey friend, have you evernoticed how life changes the
terrain beneath your feetsometimes without warning?
(00:20):
One day you feel steady andconfident and like you know the
map and the way to go, and thenall of a sudden things shift.
Maybe it's a change at work, atransition at home, or simply a
season of life that you weren'texpecting.
And suddenly the old ways ofnavigating things just don't
quite work anymore.
(00:40):
That's what I want to talk abouttoday.
Because when the terrainchanges, often we need to change
our approach or our perspective.
And learning to adjust thatinstead of fighting for what
used to be or for what used towork is often the key to moving
forward.
This lesson comes up again andagain in my private coaching
(01:05):
work with clients and in my ownlife.
I remember, gosh, um, just overthe last couple of years, my
approaches and the way that I dobusiness has changed.
The terrain has changed,changed.
And what I used to always doisn't what I need to do anymore.
The approach has has needed tochange, and God has made that so
(01:29):
very clear.
There have been so many timesthat I was doing all the things
that I always used to do to giveme clarity and momentum, but
they just weren't workinganymore.
Like I was just hitting my headagainst the wall over and over
again.
And when my natural instinct wasto push harder or double down or
keep doing what worked at onetime, but all that did was
(01:51):
exhaust me and make me feel evenmore stuck until I eventually
realized that this wasn't like amatter of my effort or my
motivation or my drive or myability to get things done.
It was just new terrain.
And new terrain often requires anew perspective, a new approach.
(02:16):
And these are the moments that Ilove inside of coaching because
our circumstances don't have tochange for us to feel entirely
different.
And friend, this is the heart ofthe differently philosophy.
The world tells us to keepdoing, keep consuming, keep
numbing out, keep hustling.
(02:40):
But differently is pausing andlooking inward and taking
responsibility for your mind, your body, and your spirit and
your God-given innate abilitiesthat can change things for you,
even when your circumstancesdon't change.
When the ground changes underyour feet, you can't keep
staring at the outside world foranswers, right?
(03:02):
You can't keep looking to statusor titles or other people's
opinions or even what worked foryou last year.
That's old terrain.
Instead, it's about shiftinginside, turning inside and
asking, what's happening?
What's needed here now in thisnew season?
(03:22):
While the world says, bedistracted, and it's so good at
distracting us, right?
Just our phones are the ultimatedistraction device.
But what if, what if you choseto be awake, to think for
yourself, to stay alert?
When the world says, serveyourself, what if your approach
(03:42):
in this season is to serveothers, to get outside of
yourself?
And when the world says, just gofor that quick fix, just do that
thing that's gonna make you feelbetter right now.
What if instead you focused andcommitted to the micro
movements, the self-discipline,the hard things that are gonna
lead to that bigger thing thatyou're committed to over time?
(04:07):
The old way often won't carry usacross the new terrain.
Maybe you're wondering, whatdoes this look like in real
life?
And I want to give you a simple, just some simple writing prompts
or questions that you can tryfor yourself.
So the first question is writeit down.
What's changed?
Get it out of your head.
(04:27):
Like if you're feeling thechange, it's real for you.
So what's changed?
Write it down.
What feels different right now?
What has literally changed inyour circumstances or your
terrain?
Or maybe it's an internal changeyou're feeling, that the things
you've always done just don'tfeel right anymore.
You just can't continue doingthose things because you've
(04:47):
changed.
Number two, notice what nolonger works.
And write this down.
You can ask, like, what's notworking?
What strategies or habits orpatterns am I clinging to that
just don't fit anymore?
And the last one, what's needednow?
If I were to respond in a newway in this season, in this new
(05:11):
terrain, what's one small stepthat I could take in that
direction?
Listen closely.
This is how you stop survivingon autopilot and literally start
creating forward movement onpurpose, even in, especially in
unfamiliar territory.
(05:31):
Friend, life is always shiftingand always changing, sometimes
in small ways and sometimes inhuge ways.
You don't need to have the wholething figured out.
We just need to recognize whenthe terrain is changed and be
willing to be adaptable andchange our approach with it.
That's the heartbeat of what Ido and what I teach and the
(05:53):
differently brand.
It's less about doing what theworld says and more about tuning
in and creating a way forwardthat's aligned and lasting and
true.
