Speaker 1 (00:00):
A deep change in the way that we live requires a deep
change in the way that we think.
I'm Karla Reeves and this isDifferently.
Hey friend, I'm so glad you'reback.
Life gets crazy and often ourfirst instinct is to push harder

(00:20):
, keep spinning, keep doing moreand more and more.
But what if the fastest wayforward is actually to stop?
That's what we exploredtogether in this month's free
class.
When life gets crazy, journal, and today I want to give you a
peek inside the free class.

(00:40):
If you have been coming.
Thank you so much.
I love seeing your faces thereand keep coming back.
This will be a great recaptoday for you, and if you
haven't been to a free class oryou've been thinking about it,
this is a chance for you to peekinside and see what you've been
missing, and I would love tosee you there.

(01:01):
So picture this, you know theZoom room slowly filling with
faces, some I know well, someare brand new, some are people
who have been coming back to thefree classes time and again.
And then we get the chatrolling.
I always ask, like why are youhere?
What brought you here?
And this last week, this iswhat I heard Somebody wrote I

(01:23):
needed an excuse to slow downand do something for my
well-being.
Another said I want inspirationso that I can be more consistent
with journaling.
And a third one said I'm abeginner just looking for a way
to tame the chaos of life andbusiness.
Can you relate?

(01:44):
The chaos of life and business?
Can you relate?
And others were in right in thethick of transition, whether it
was career change or trying tofind family and work balance, or
having health concerns or justthe weight of the world.
That's the kind of space wehold in these classes.
It's real people, real life, real craziness that we're all

(02:05):
walking through In the class.
In this particular class, we didsomething really simple.
We walked through three steps, which are number one, manage
your mind.
Number two, expand yourperspective.
And number three, align youractions.
It sounds simple, and it is,but there are so many layers

(02:28):
deep to each of those steps, andsimple doesn't mean shallow in
this case, because thesimplicity of it is really where
the power is.
First, we dumped all the noiseonto the paper, just emptying
our heads.
That alone is so powerful.
Having dedicated time, even ifyou're just doing this once a

(02:49):
month, to empty your own mind isa superpower.
I can't emphasize this enoughthe power that happens when
someone writes I see it with myclients over and over and over
again.
It's within you know, likeunder 10 minutes of writing you
can restore peace of mind.

(03:10):
They improve communication andit's possible to change outcomes
in relationships, in meetingsthat you didn't see possible
before.
That's the power of writing andso doing this is what we do in
community, and then we share andwe hear from people.
I never make you share, but Idefinitely encourage it because

(03:32):
that the magic lives in theconversation.
And one woman shared in thislast class that she almost
immediately got an answer shedidn't expect when she started
writing.
Another said that she was goingto add just 10 minutes of
writing to her daily routine, and someone in the class shared

(03:52):
that they gave themselvespermission to dream again.
That's the kind of shift I'mtalking about that can happen in
less than 10 minutes of writing, not because you're a writer,
but because writing actuallyhelps you clear the fog.
So you can see, writing is justa vehicle to get you in

(04:13):
conversation with yourself, toget you in conversation with God
, to help you calm the noise.
Just this week, on my own, I wasspinning about a relationship
in my life that I've beenstruggling with and my thoughts
were just spinning in my headaround fear and uncertainty,
wondering what could I do?
What could I do?

(04:34):
What should I do?
I sat down to write for maybefive minutes.
I just emptied my brain andonce the water settled in my
mind, I realized there's nothingfor me to do yet and I felt
peace again.
That's the power of the pause, and that's why we practice this.

(04:54):
If you're listening right now, maybe think about your own
version of crazy.
What's been swirling in yourhead and taking up your mental
and emotional energy.
What's keeping you up at night?
Write it down.
Don't filter it, just empty itout on the page.
Just getting it outside of youis going to feel better, because

(05:15):
then you can stand back and getsome distance.
This is where you can askquestions like is this true?
What else could be true?
Is this fact or fear talking?
Is this an obstacle or could itbe an opportunity in disguise?
And lastly, what's my idealoutcome given these exact

(05:39):
circumstances?
And that one's importantbecause the last step is about
aligning your action, looking atthat ideal outcome and asking
yourself what's one small thingI can do today that aligns with
that outcome.
That's it Three steps.
They're simple, they'rerepeatable, they're simple and

(06:00):
they're very powerful.
This is just a taste of whathappens in the free class.
