Speaker 1 (00:00):
A deep change in the way that we live requires a deep
change in the way that we think.
I'm Karla Reeves and this isDifferently.
Hey friend, how's your hearttoday?
This last week has been heavy, honestly.
I haven't talked to a singleperson who wasn't affected by

(00:21):
all that's been happening.
I have felt it too, and ifyou've felt quiet or paralyzed
or had low motivation or feltaimless or gotten off track, you
are not alone.
I feel these things deeply, andI'm sure that you do too, and
when the weight gets to be toomuch, I have to step back and be

(00:43):
really, really mindful of whatI take in.
So today, I just want to sharea little bit of what I see and
what is keeping me steady, and Ihope that this sparks something
for you to remember.
Just because you've alwaysresponded to heaviness or
uncertainty in one way doesn'tmean that you have to keep doing

(01:03):
it that way in one way doesn'tmean that you have to keep doing
it that way.
New terrain calls for newbehavior and new tools and new
approaches.
I realized today that I've beensitting with a few questions
How's my heart Really?
What's keeping me steady rightnow?
How are the people around meand how am I to serve?

(01:24):
And I took these questions intomy mastermind yesterday and we
we use these questions and wewrote with our non-dominant hand
, a practice that can be reallypowerful to kind of bypass the
noise in the mind and tap intoeven the child like parts of
ourselves.
And the themes that came upwere really simple but clear

(01:48):
Stay present, stay connected toyour people.
We hear these things all thetime and so we can kind of like
they can just flip around andfeel a little empty sometimes,
and so I encourage you to reallylook at like, what do those
really mean for you and for me?
Staying present is really whatI'm having to do is work very

(02:11):
hard to stay out of my head sothat I can be fully available to
what's in front of me, likewhether it's work I'm doing or
whether I'm with my husbandtalking, or at the studio
connecting with somebody in myclass, so that I can deeply see
people, deeply hear people, deeply understand people and be

(02:33):
available and hear for what'sright here and now.
And to stay connected.
This week has meant to bereally close with my husband.
Week has meant to be reallyclose with my husband.
Talk through the things, sharethe things share my emotions so
that we can process what's goingon for ourselves, be physically

(02:53):
close, hugging and snugglingand holding hands and comforting
each other.
It has been reaching out to ourboys, friends, colleagues and
clients just checking in, and Irealized this week that there
were times when I was hopingsomeone would reach out to me
and I realized that that was theperfect moment to reach out to

(03:15):
others and I've been asking Godto put on my heart others that I
need to reach out to.
The truth is, fear shows upquickly in uncertain times.
For me, how about you?
For much of my life I havelived kind of at the mercy of
fear, bracing for the worst whenthings get uncomfortable, or

(03:39):
always trying to anticipate andstrategize my way out so that I
don't get stuck or trapped.
But this week I felt invited towalk a little differently and I
just let the tears come.
When they came, I rested, Iprayed, I felt God say that when
you are rested and relaxed Ican move mountains.

(04:02):
I talked things out withQuentin, I leaned into the
things that steady me instead ofletting fear take the lead, and
every day I am committed toshaking off fear if I have to,
because I don't believe that wewere made to live in fear, and a
reminder kept coming back to meof be awake and be aware.

(04:23):
In a world that is distractingus on all levels, we have to
flex the muscle to stay awakeand aware and step away when we
need to get quiet and calm thewaters, seek God, slay fear and
get back in the game of life.
This is a time to tend to oursouls.

(04:44):
I really believe this becauseonly we can do that work for
ourselves.
As leaders, we need to know anddo the things that keep us
steady so we can be steady forthe people we love and the
people around us and the workwe're here to do.
If you don't know what keepsyou steady, now is such a good

(05:05):
time to figure that out.
If you aren't in relationshipswhere you can fall apart so that
you can go out and lead, findthem.
What's keeping me steady is myfaith, our marriage, our
conversations, the tears, thegetting quiet and remembering
the truth of who we are andwhose we are.

(05:25):
Real conversations rest inbeing quiet so I can hear God.
I'd love to know what's keepingyou steady In closing, if you
need to be in a conversationthat fuels your life and stirs
your heart and soul.

to stay awake.
These are important times anddon't forget.
