In this episode, I talk with Seth Erickson, the CEO of Storify Agency. He helps companies tell better stories about what they are doing, why they exist, and why they have value to other people.

Seth also talks about his book, How to Hack Humans: Storytelling for Startups. We discuss his future goals and some ideas to help him achieve them.

In this episode, we discussed:

  1.  How he realized that authenticity saves a lot of energy trying to be someone else.
  2.  The goal of Storify of helping startups communicate their value to investors and the marketplace at large.
  3.  How customers would need to know why they should care about what you offer and how it would solve their problems.
  4.  Presenting your brands the right way through education.
  5.  How important it is for the customers to be the center of the stories you tell about your brand.
  6.  Brain simulations created by the stories being told to customers.

People usually associate Seth’s storytelling skills with extroverted people. On the contrary, Seth is in fact, an introvert. Although human interaction may be dreadful for introverts like him, it is his goal to reach out and help more people through what he does. We came up with the following to help him get to his goals:

  1.  Find what feels comfortable and build up from there.
  2.  Create posts on a business page first instead of a personal page.
  3.  Reach out to friends for referrals.
  4.  Listen, choose, and pick feedback that would further improve the business.
  5.  Continue sharing on podcast interviews until comfortable enough to talk on a stage in front of an actual audience.

WHAT IS DIGITAL MARKETING FOR HUMANS?

Digital Marketing for Humans is an interview-style podcast aimed squarely at business owners. It's hosted by a business owner. Around 90% of the guests are business owners. It's a platform that shares the stories of business owners, which other business owners might find useful.

Each episode is unique because everyone's story is unique. We cover the journey of each guest, starting with why they chose to go the entrepreneur route, where they are today, and what they've learned in the process.

We cover what it takes to build a sustainable business. The good, the bad, and the ugly; it's all in there. I really think there's something for everyone so take a listen and learn something new.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
