.
October is almost over andwe've got about two months left
just a little more than twomonths left in this year I want
to start leaning forward toprepare us for the new year and

(00:44):
whatever it has to bring.
You all know that I'm focusedon encouraging you to discover
your brilliance.
I also know, in order to dothat, you're going to have to
check your baggage and buildsome boundaries.
So the best way I knew toprepare us for the new year is
to kind of recap.
I want to share with you somesnippets of my audio book

(01:07):
friends.
So I know some of you havealready read the book because
you've shared with me.
Some of you have even heard theaudio, but whether you've read
it or not, heard it or not, thisis a good refresher for all of
us, even if you read it, thereare some spoons full of PBJ
throughout that are not writtenin the book that you haven't

(01:27):
heard yet.
So I just encourage you to takethis journey with me as we end
2024 and prepare for 2025.
I want to make sure that we allhave these strategies down pat,
and so let's do this thing, let's review, let's listen in.
Today I want to share with youthe introduction to my book,

(01:49):
disrupting Burnout, and it'scalled there's a Name for that.
Now, this is going to be ashort episode because the
introduction is short, but Ibelieve that as you listen today
, you're going to find yourselfand you will recognize that, one
, you're not the only one.
Two, you didn't make it up.
Three, it's a real thing.

(02:11):
So I want to start at thebeginning and share with you the
introduction to my book, disrupting Burnout the
Professional Woman's Lifeline toFinding Purpose.
Now, friend, I know that someof my brothers, my friends who
are not women, I know that youall listen to this podcast and I

(02:33):
want you to know that you'rewelcome here, even though in the
book, I'm specifically speakingto professional women.
I believe that if you're a partof this community, you know
what I'm talking about, so hangon in there, friend, and let's
have this conversation together.
Here we go, let's talk about itTo the woman with the heavy

(03:18):
load.
I see you, friend.
This is for you Introduction.
There's a name for that.
You're an accomplished womanwith many responsibilities and
you often find yourselfoverwhelmed, exhausted and

(03:39):
burned out.
I know I've been there.
As a matter of fact, burnoutalmost cost me everything.
You're reading this bookbecause everyone recognizes and
desires your gifts, but theyhave no idea what it costs to be
you.
You give so much to others thatyou have very little left for

(04:03):
yourself.
Others that you have verylittle left for yourself.
You work with your empathy meteron high most days and it is
exhausting.
You often find yourselfdepleted after serving others
and you feel your efforts aretaken for granted.
You feel misused by everyone inyour life, including those who

(04:24):
love you.
You feel guilty becauseeveryone around you thinks
you've got it all together.
If they only knew.
People tell you to put it allin God's hands, but no one
taught you how to do that.
There's no margin in your life.
You could literally be doingsomething for someone every

(04:46):
minute of the day if your bodycould handle it.
You run to isolation just tocatch your breath.
However, you don't find thisescape refreshing.
You've been very successful inyour professional life, but if
you're honest, you know you'restill searching for purpose.
You struggle with perfectionism, holding yourself to a higher

(05:11):
standard than you hold others.
You also struggle withcomparison, never feeling like
enough as you compare yourselfto other professional women with
clean houses, perfect partners, extraordinary children and a
laundry list of professionalaccolades.
You may even find the work youonce loved is now wearing you

(05:33):
thin, which distresses your soul.
Now you're questioning if youwere truly called to do this
work in the first place.
Your career frustrated.
You feel checked out and nolonger interested in things you
once loved.
Your emotions are all over theplace and your wellness habits

(05:54):
seem to have vanished from yourlife.
You taught everyone in yourlife that you could be all
things to all people, and theybelieved you.
Now, friend, you just want torun away from it all.
You think you are all alone.
You feel like you're the onlysuccessful woman living with

(06:18):
these struggles.
Friend, it's not just you.
You did not make this up.
There's a name for all of that.
It's called burnout.
More specifically, I call thisthe cycle of burnout, but we'll
discuss that in detail inchapter three.
Hi, friend, I'm Dr PatriceBuckner Jackson, but you can

(06:41):
call me PBJ.
All my friends do.
I call you friend because wehave some things in common I am
a wife, a mama Patrice iestepmama, a daughter, a big
sister, an aunt, a mentor, afriend, a minister, a
transformational speaker, aneducator for almost 25 years now

(07:03):
, and executive coach and now anauthor.
Honestly, there aren't manyprofessional goals I set for
myself that I haven't attained,and at each accomplishment I
felt like I needed the next one,the next promotion, the next
project or the next accolade.

(07:24):
I expected the next one tobring the peace I longed to
experience.
I was searching for a finishline, but I only found more
curves and detours.
I brought all of myself toeverything I did and ultimately
I lost myself.
In this book, you will learnthree proven strategies for

(07:48):
disrupting burnout so you candiscover your innate, unique
brilliance.
For now, know that you willrelease mindsets that keep you
trapped in the cycle of burnoutand you'll create new belief
systems that accelerate yourtrue brilliance.
This is more than self-care.
This is about recovery andrevival.

(08:09):
I'll share my own testimony, share testimonies from my
clients and teach you, step bystep the strategies we use to
beat burnout.
Please note clients names andidentifying details have been
changed throughout this book toprotect the integrity of their
journey.
These stories are shared toallow you to see what is

(08:33):
possible, but remember everyjourney is unique.
Your journey will not mirrorany story shared here.
Your journey is specificallycrafted to you alone Throughout
this book.
I will encourage you to seekthe services of a licensed
counselor, as this book is notintended to be a substitute for

(08:55):
therapy.
I encourage all my clients towork with a counselor as they
implement the strategiesdiscussed here to ensure they
have the support necessary toaccomplish deep work.
Friend, it's time for you to getyour breath back.
Take this journey out ofburnout and into brilliance with

(09:22):
me.
Oh, friend, listen, I know, Iknow.
I know you're saying PBJ.
I did not come to this podcastepisode this week for you to
tell all my business.
Friend, here's what I'velearned the hard way If we are
not willing to say it, we cannotheal it.
So I had to start by speakingdirectly to the person that this

(09:44):
book was written for, so thatyou will hear the call and come
join us as we move from burnoutto brilliance.
I cannot wait to share more ofthis journey with you.
Like I said, there are spoonfulsof PBJ that came to my heart as
I was reading the book aloud.
There is emotion in all thethings.

(10:06):
I gave it to you raw.
It's not pretty, but it's worthit.
It's worth it.
So can we do this together?
Listen, if you have notpurchased the book, you can go
to Amazon.
I'll leave a link in the shownotes for you to go ahead and
grab your book.
Within that book there is afillable workbook.
It's one thing to read it, it'sanother thing to do the work.

(10:29):
It's one thing to read it, it'sanother thing to do the work.
It's one thing to listen to it.
It's another thing to do thework.
So I equipped you to do thework, but you got to buy the
book in order to get access tothe workbook.
So I'm going to leave a linkfor you to grab the book from
Amazon so that you can downloadyour workbook and we can walk

(10:49):
this thing out together.
But y'all, let's not start a newyear the same way we started
this one.
It's time to do lifedifferently.
It's mandatory.
It's too much going on in theworld for us to continue to
exist, surviving, overwhelmedand burnt out.
You want to go with me.
Come on, let's go.
As always, friend, you knowthat you are powerful, you are

(11:13):
significant, you are brilliantand you are loved.
Love always, pbj, thank you.
