Jason Connell (00:01):
Whoa, just curious. Welcome to Just curious
media. This is dog gone. And I'mJason Connell. So for those
familiar with Dog Gone thisnewer podcast, I'm just curious
media, you'll know that it's adog lovers podcast devoted to
honoring the lives and memoriesof man's best friend. And we've

(00:23):
been fortunate enough to havetwo episodes thus far. The first
episode, I was sharing the storyof "Niko" Nikolaus Connell, my
beloved white German Shepherd, who I lost last year. Oddly
enough, it was almost a year,May 11. And I'm recording this
on May 8, a year later, it stillhurts. I dream about Niko,

(00:49):
Sophia and I just moved in thelast six, seven months to a new
place. Lovely, right by thewater, there's all this space,
lots of acres, he would haveloved it here. And he never had
the opportunity to be here withus. So he's here in spirit. And
I've never stopped thinkingabout him and nor have I been in
a hurry to get a new dog. But Istarted this podcast as a way

(01:11):
for me to deal with my grief.
And also a chance in a forum forothers to come and celebrate
their dogs lives. And we had asecond episode, which was
fantastic. And we talked aboutKuhmo, the Yorkshire Terrier,
Michelle losses wonderful bestfriend and dog and covered it on
the show released it, I thinkwas May 31. So as I line up more

(01:32):
guest it's not that easy. It's anew show, it deals with
heartache, and you got to getthe right person, they have to
have had a dog. And so I'mlining some up, I do have a
third person ready. But ratherthan have this downtime, which
is going to happen until we hityou know, a critical mass on the

(01:54):
show. And we have lots of peoplelined up. Something hit me the
other day when I read thisarticle. And I figured I'm going
to come back and do some tributeepisodes without the person
because I read it. And it's away to honor them and their dog.
And at least we have somecontent coming out that's in
this space, as we line up moreguest. And if you don't want to

(02:18):
come on as a guest, and you'drather to send us your
information to be on a tributeepisode a shorter episode such
as this, please do so. The showis still finding its way. But we
believe in what we're doing. Andwe'll keep coming back with
more. So what sparked thisinterest this idea? I read this
headline. Pete Davidson mournsdeath of two year old dog Henry,

(02:42):
quote, not sure I'd be aroundwithout him. So Pete Davidson,
obviously a well known comic, 29year old comedian was on
Saturday Night Live and moviesand he's been in the space. And
I read this and thought, oh mygosh, and a two year old dog
that is like, wow, losing themearly is hard. Obviously you

(03:04):
want them to live as long asthey can. But that's incredibly
early. So this is a tributeepisode for Henry, the toy
poodle. And I'll just read someof the stuff that was in this
article because it got a lot ofbuzz, a lot of publications
picked it up and I was justreally touched and moved by it.
And I wanted to share it here.

(03:24):
So Pete Davidson shared thisnews on Thursday, May 4 2023,
with an emotional message postedon the Instagram account of
David Cyrus, who is a writer onDavidson's new peacock series
Bupkis. So since leavingSaturday Night Live last May

(03:46):
after eight seasons, Davidsonhas focused his attention on
this new show bubkis which issemi autobiographical and has
him playing a fictionalizedversion of himself. I'm
unfamiliar with the show, but Imay tune in now, and the series
also stars Edie Falco TheSopranos Joe Pesci Goodfellas so

(04:07):
many more casino also a comicand home alone. And it also
stars Chase Sue wonders. PeteDavidson has been very open
about his mental healthstruggles over the years, and
famously lived in his mother'sbasement until he moved out in
2021. The actor remains quiteclose with his mother and

(04:28):
sister, and both recentlyattended the premier of Bupkis.
Now here's the message. And bythe way, this is Henry. I'm
going to show the photo forthose looking on YouTube or
YouTube Live. So cute. Look atthis guy, toy poodle. He's got a
little blue handkerchief on heis just adorable. And I'll show

(04:49):
you a couple more photos here.
This was in the magazine. Sothat's the same photo of Henry
but yeah, Pete Davidson in caseyou didn't know who he was. And
then here is Pete holding itlooks like he He's got like a
face mask below his chin like achin strap. And he's got Henry
there who's got good dog on hislittle outfit. So very, very
cute. I'm gonna go back to thefirst photo of Sir Henry, rest

(05:10):
in peace. Very sad. And this ismore about what he meant to be
Davidson. A message from Pete.
Hi guys, I know today is theBupkis premiere day. But I want
to use today to remember my dogHenry. Yesterday we lost a key
member of the Davidson family.
Henry was only two years old,but unfortunately got very sick

(05:34):
very fast. My mom, sister and Igot Henry at the beginning of
the pandemic, and he saved ourlives. Not sure I'd even be
around without him. He was thehappiest and sweetest dog ever.
He used to get excited when hesaw me and would pee everywhere.
That's hilarious. When I wasworking at SNL, my mom would

(05:58):
send me videos of him watchingsmiling and making noise when I
came on screen. I don't everreally watch any of my stuff
with anyone, as I'm far tooscared. But I didn't mind
watching with Henry. He wastruly the best. My mom's sister
and I are broken. And we misshim forever. We love you, Henry,

(06:19):
thank you for making our livesFuller, and reminded me what
actually matters. Pete That saysit all. This little guy Henry
came into the Davidsonhousehold, and right at a time
that most people needed a beaconof hope, more love. And he
connected a family and got themthrough the pandemic, and was so

(06:44):
much more than just that. Andsomehow, animals, people can get
sick, and it can happen veryquickly. And he passes away at
two that's incredibly young andincredibly sad. But he left his
mark. And that's really whatthis show is about. If you have
a dog for two weeks, or 20years, it doesn't matter. It's

(07:05):
what they meant to you, andthose in your unit and your
family. So very sad indeed, thatwe lost Henry that the
Davidson's lost Henry, but I'mreally proud and happy to share
it here. I'm glad that he sharedit. On the Instagram. I'm glad
the writer David did the honorsand shared this with everybody.

(07:25):
And that's really what I wantedto say I want to do more
episodes of course, we have morepeople lining up but tribute
episodes or episodes,nonetheless, we're here
celebrating their lives whatthey mean to us. And someone
just recently told me, which isreally spot on that even when
you lose dogs, they leave scartissue and you forever and it's

(07:48):
so, so very true. So thank youso much for listening. And
