Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi all Chelsea here.
I just wanted to pop in at thetop of the show to introduce our
very first live show that werecorded at our very first
Street Spirit Festival that weput on this past July 16th.
It was definitely a funexperience, a little bit scary,
but we still want to thankeveryone for coming out.
It was amazing.
So, without further ado, let'sget to the show.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
For the one, well,
for the two, and the only for
the two and the only.
Chelsea and Pamela from theDrum Find podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Well, hello everybody
.
Hello, this is amazing.
First of all, can I just giveit up to Fiona over here,
probably the best MC money couldbuy.
Oh yeah, thank you guys, allfor coming.
(01:32):
This is absolutely incredible.
But first I should say I'm, myname is Chelsea and Pamela, and
this is the Drum Find podcast, the podcast where we talk about
all things.
Whiskey, yeah, and on today'sepisode we decided to do a
whiskey festival.
So, yeah, that's, that's a goodtime.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
We decided your live
podcast.
We've never done one before, sothat's exciting.
Yeah, slightly terrifying.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
But why did we decide
to do this Pam Like?
Why are we doing the StreetSpirit Festival?
Speaker 4 (02:06):
That's a loaded
question, but do you know,
chelsea and I had a chat evenjust about when we started the
podcast three years ago?
We sat in a pub, really shapeof an, everything it's a hilltop
it's a hilltop, yeah, but it'sback, it's open again, it's back
and the hilltop and we're likewe got to do something together,
(02:29):
like we should do something.
Like how do we start a band?
We almost started a band, butthen we don't.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
We don't play me
instrument.
Well, you do.
I'm just doing a very poorthing.
I do, I know, did.
I try to start a band with youtoo.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Hi, I feel cheated on
you.
Sorry, sorry.
So well, we found this insteadand it worked out, but one of
our goals right at the start was, you know, like whiskey
festivals are fun but I justdon't really feel like I love
them, like they could be.
There could be more funelements to it and as a Scottish
person at whiskey festivals inCanada, I kind of felt like they
(03:03):
were a bit cringe.
Sorry, sorry to say that, but Idon't want to see Highland
Dancing every time someone has awhiskey.
No offense.
No offense Because HighlandDancing is great, but yeah.
So that's why we were like, let's do something fun, let's
have some entertainment, let's,you know, plug ourselves and get
(03:24):
a statement.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
And let's do
something light-hearted and like
just easy to digest and let'sinclude just like let's.
The amount of people here, thediversity of people here is
amazing.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
It's like it's great,
it blew my mind.
It blew my mind.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, and also just I
mean like we're not only do we
have amazing internationalbrands that are supporting us,
but we have some amazing localdistilleries that came by as
well, so it's just this likebeautiful combination of all
these things.
And so, and you wonderfulpeople, for showing up today
Like you don't know how much weappreciate you all here today,
(03:58):
so thank you.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Thank you so much.
Yes, and we've had some reallybeautiful comments from people
that have, like, almost made uscry today, like there was a
lovely lady came up to me andsaid you know, I've been into
whiskey for 20 odd years andI've been so, like, kind of
scared to go to a whiskeytasting and never wanted to go,
but this has made me feel likeso approachable and that's what
(04:21):
we're all about.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
So yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, so today.
So we are doing it's.
You know, we're going to makethis a little casual.
We're not going to do like abig intensive, educational like
breakdown on like independentbottling or something today.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
We're just going to
do season two, episode four yeah
, Actually I don't know ifthat's true.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, but but we
we're going to.
We're going to do a little, alittle kind of Q and A, but
because you guys, the Emmett andwhiskey community, is so
amazing, we want to include youguys as well.
So we have a bunch of questionsthat were asked in this
terrifying jar.
Yeah, I think it's got to behaunted for sure.
(05:07):
What is that?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Is that like haunti
dumtie?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I don't know, it's
not, it's a hundred percent
haunted.
I think that's haunti dumtie.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
That is wonderful
Well it's haunted.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Oops, what's that we
can have?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
a little bit of a red
color.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Oh, then we'd love it
Exactly.
So we have a bunch of questions, so I hope you all are okay.
Like we might want to pick on afew of you, we might want you
to come sit with us and answer acouple questions with us,
because this is going to be agroup activity.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
But on the crispy
couch.
That's for you, paine, ethan,my garden.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, but I believe
we have first thing.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Well, we want Jamie.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
We want Jamie.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Jamie, jamie, jamie,
jamie Jamie.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Because she, you know
I don't have to do any work
because she could do all thetalking Come on sit down.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
I'm trying to drink.
Yes, I have a glass.
I'm actually with Lola Glade,in fact.
Can I have that one?
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (06:12):
Wow, does that work
Mic check.
Speaker 6 (06:14):
I think, I need to do
a little yeah, yeah, oh, back
on the mic again.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yep, did everyone see
Jamie's presentation earlier?
What's happening?
Amazing, thank you guys.
Thank you guys.

Speaker 7 (06:30):

He needs to start making mesome money is what needs to
happen.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Oh, tech, tech Fiona
here.
Thank you, fiona, thank youThank you there you go, you're
welcome.
Speaker 7 (06:39):
Yeah, she's so good
at this, she's still a little
funny.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
She's still a little
funny.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
We need that one.
Oh my God.
Oh, I know, we do.
There's one over here.
Okay, I do have that Are wegood, I'm, so loud I'm shocked
that I even need a microphone.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
I feel like I'd like
to open up, yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Is someone got this
for us?
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yeah, yeah, okay, I'm
going to be a national.
I'll hold these.
I'll hold these.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Jamie.
Okay, so we start.
We're going to start with thefirst question from the haunted
jar.
Pamela, where did you put thethings?
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Well, I actually have
some questions for Jamie, for
us, oh, oh, okay, before wenature into the spiky jar All
right.
I just want to show how you'reenjoying the Facebook, Jamie.
Oh my God.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
I'm having so much
fun.
I honestly I keep tellingpeople like I'm just thrilled to
be here and to see things beingdone just a little bit
differently.
I think you know you guys arepushing the envelope in terms of
, like, what a whiskey festivallooks like.
I'm 100% a part of that,because I really want to ride on
those coattails.
Like I feel like it's so niceto have that's what it is for
(07:45):
the draft lawyer, that's right.
That's right, and it feels likethat guy, it's like a real
sense of community here, like.
So this has been such a great, great time and thank you for
reaching out and let's do itagain.
Okay, oh, yes, yes.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Well, I have a
background actually on that.
I wrote the proposal for thisfestival and was like I just
need some advice on it.
I'm going to send it to mylovely friend.
Jamie, just to see if she hasany edits or anything like that
or anything she thinks I shouldchange.
And she didn't make any changes.
She just sent it to her bossand then wrote back saying we'll
take the platinum sponsor.
And we were like, don't be, Iguess it's not this.
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Whatever they do, I
want to be a part of it.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yes, so we were so
happy and you, you know what it
says, so thank you so much, because you're really the reason
that this got kick started, sothanks.
Speaker 7 (08:31):
Jamie, I really
appreciate that.
Did you ever?
Speaker 1 (08:33):
know that you were
mine.
Anyway, sorry Please keep going.
Speaker 7 (08:38):
Please keep going,
dram fight is for the draft
fight.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, that guy, I
can't, I can't, I can't, I just
all you are just shadows, so Idon't know who's talking.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I know I can't see.
I know I love it.
It's great.
It's great have you here'sanother question have you ever
opened for a?
Speaker 7 (08:56):
drag queen.
Oh yeah, never, not once, never.
And I was so happy Dram fightis for the draft fight.
It was nice Like I feel likeit's hard to like open for a
drag queen and so like becauseit's so much more glamorous than
like I'm a little sweaty uphere and stuff.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
So like it was nice
to have a little glamour on the
stage after me so it was greatand the newest paper was meeting
her color.
She was in yellow and pink.
Speaker 7 (09:22):
See, it's the
attention to detail.
It's the attention to detail.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I think it's harder
to follow a drag queen.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Yeah, this is for
Rachel.
Yeah, so this is low energyYou're doing great, we're trying
our best.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Okay, I think we're
ready.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Let's get into these
queries.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
So um where are they?
Speaker 7 (09:38):
Oh, they're on the
jar.
You've got everyone's gotquestions.
Yeah, I put one in there too.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Did you?
Yeah, I did.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Oh, okay.
So this first question.
I don't know who wrote it, butthank you for writing it.
What, in your opinion, is thebiggest influence on your love
of whiskey?
Who's going first?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Me yes, no, jamie,
jamie that's my question.
It's literally my question.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I wrote that no, I'm
not even kidding you, like you
literally picked my question andyou have to answer it.
Speaker 7 (10:09):
Oh, now I've really
done it Medicine piece bitter.
Um, honestly, I really do thinkit's that sense of community
Like for me, like I learned somuch every time I come to a
whiskey festival, and not justfrom ambassadors or distillers
or blenders that are there, Likeit's from the community who you
sort of connect with throughout.
You know, I'm lucky enough Iget to go all across Canada and
(10:30):
I see so many familiar faces allover and I think that for me
has been like the best sort oflike most invigorating impact on
my whiskey like journey forsure.
The community.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
You guys, yeah, you
guys.
You guys, and the Edmontonwhiskey community I'm sorry, top
, they're out there, tip, top,they're amazing.
So many of them came out tosupport us tonight as well.
Yeah, she's been amazing.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Kent and Cheryl.
Kent and Cheryl.
Where are you, you guys, one ofthese days, oh there, oh, my
god, there are the girls I sawoff.
Yes, yeah, one of these daysI'm going to go to the one of
the fires, I promise, if anyoneknows anything I've been.
I've been, yeah, I'll be thereone day.
I think my answer would have tobe the same.
I think it's the community, butI also love the history and
(11:14):
even the science behind it andthe fact when you have a, like a
20 year old whiskey, the factthat it's it took at least 20
years and it traveled thousandsof miles to get right in front
of you and it's.
There's nothing kind ofromantic about that.
You know what I mean, andthere's not many things to
really like be romantic aboutthese days, so why not indulge
in?
You know, an ex-muski?
Speaker 4 (11:34):
That's nice.
Yeah, right, both good answers, both great, both great answers,
thank you.
I honestly like to see whatlike sustainability and I should
have something followed, and Ilike to see what people are like
kind of changing things up andwhen people are kind of going
against the gradient andsomething about new always came
to light.
Yep, yes, my interest a littlebit, but, yeah, community is
number one.
Obviously you guys Love thatAwesome.
Yeah, you guys.
(11:55):
What a great question.
Yeah great.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
My god, jamie, thanks
for that.
Okay, so random that you knowthat one.
So weird.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Okay, we're going to
head to question number two, but
this time we're.
We got to.
We got to call up some anyvolunteers?
Who wants to come up and sit onthe couch with us?
Speaker 7 (12:09):
Getting the hot seat
now that guy.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Oh my god, come up
here, jamie, give a round of
applause for Jamie one more time.
Jamie, jamie, jamie, jamie,jamie, jamie.
This might I?
Speaker 4 (12:24):
think this might be
trouble, come here.
Okay, there's, probably theremight be.
Oh, watch, okay, tell us yourname and where you came from.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
My name is Jeff
Cummings and I'm a huge fan of
your podcast.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Oh, thank god, stop
it, I love it.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Huge fan.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
So I you know what.
I lived in Edmonton for like 10years.
I love my cigars.
What's the best whiskey to havewith a cigar in this summer in
an Edmonton summer?
Speaker 4 (13:00):
I don't, I don't like
smoking yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
And I don't.
I mean, there's the DelmarCigar mode, so can that answer,
sorry?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
I was going to ask
you a question you don't ask the
question sir.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, wait, wait,
that's what.
I was going to say Anyone havean answer to that?
What do you think?
What do you?
What would you care?
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Smoke purse.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
What do you think?
Eagle rare?
Oh, eagle rare.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Yeah, there you go,
we'll take it.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
We'll take it Was
that Jen.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, it was Jen Dark
sky Jen.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
See, here's the thing
.
I love my winter whiskeys, solike linfidic 12 year old.
But what do I want to do in thesummer in Edmonton with an
easygoing whiskey, with a cigar?
Speaker 4 (13:42):
I don't know, is this
a jewel?
Speaker 3 (13:44):
I feel like I said
this is my punchline here.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
Okay, here's your.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
here's your real
question, jeff Ready here's the
question from the haunted jarwhat's your favorite scotch
cocktail?
Easy, I heard someone say.
I'm going to say mine.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Old fashioned.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Old fashioned yes.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
With a cigar.
With a cigar.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Someone said mine is
a penicillin.
Justin.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Justin, where's
Justin?
Is Justin here?
Justin's gone.
Justin, yeah, mine is a whiskeysour too, but only when Chelsea
makes it with an arugbeg bbc.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Delicious.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Delicious yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah, what's yours,
Chelsea.
I said an old fashioned.
I just can't go wrong with anold fashioned.
I want an old fashioned.
Give it to me.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Right, right Jeff.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Get out of here, Jeff
.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much God bless you.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
Thank you very much,
jeff.
God bless you.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Jeff, okay, number.
Who else wants to come join thecouch?
The crusty crouch who's on thecrusty couch?
Come on, come up, come up, comeup?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Yay, I think.
Hello, hi, what's your name?
Speaker 9 (14:52):
My name's James.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Hi James, when are
you from?
Speaker 9 (14:55):
Here generally
Edmunds, general area Forza
sketch.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Oh, okay, okay,
that's okay.
Speaker 9 (15:02):
I know it sucks, it's
fine, like I moved here after.
So it's okay, I moved hereafter.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
And are you a big
whiskey, your big whiskey fan?
Speaker 9 (15:10):
Yeah, my girlfriend
got me into it.
I wasn't a super big whiskeydrinker until she's outside and
doesn't know this is going on,Girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
I said drinking
whiskey.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Love it, what's that?
Speaker 5 (15:21):
Let's ask you a
question for him.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (15:25):
I'm going to look
like an idiot because no, it's
fine, not that one.
No.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
It's a hard one.
Speaker 9 (15:32):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (15:32):
No, I'm just kidding.
I'm pretty simple.
Speaker 9 (15:35):
Yeah, you tip the
bartender's $150.
That's what you do.
Yeah, you just give them abunch of money and feel bad
about yourself.
I broke a bottle earlier.
Yeah, that was me.
Yeah, that was you.
Oh shit, oh shit.
So that's why I came up.
I was like shame, shame shame, shame, shame, shame.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (15:59):
It needed to happen.
I hate myself.
It's fine I was shaming more.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
The question.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
That's shaming with
this question, it's actually a
lovely question.
Oh good, okay it's if you couldbe any whiskey what would you
be and why?
Speaker 9 (16:13):
Oh, oh, shit, shit.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
I'm not familiar with
it?
Shit, I'm not familiar withthat whiskey.
I'll tell you what I would beyeah, no.
Speaker 9 (16:23):
Wee-beasty Wee-beasty
Because I love that one.
It's hard, it's kind of mean,but it's very enjoyable.
But you kind of have to getused to it.
And it's not anythingprecocious, it's very simple,
it's not very expensive.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
But it's got a lot of
things going on.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
Wee-beasty that I
think that would be nice.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
It's like the forest
gump of.
Speaker 9 (16:46):
Yeah, it's kind of
mildly the hard word that we
can't use anymore.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
The forest gump.
Speaker 9 (16:50):
And yeah, that's me.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Okay, wow, glad to
see that.
Taking that Pamela, I like awee-beasty, but okay, I don't
know, I would be.
I think that's actually quite ahard question.
Who'd be that question in howdare you?
How dare you?
Speaker 9 (17:04):
Someone that's
willing to step up.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I think it would be.
I think it would be anay-lo-wesky, probably just
because of that vila connection.
For me, maybe Port Charlotte, because I love that area of
ay-lo.
Love a piti-wesky.
It's not your brick-laddies.
It's a little bit different,right, it's a little bit
different.
I think I'd go with PortCharlotte, what about?
Speaker 1 (17:27):
you.
I would be you know what.
I would probably be something.
I would be like a Khalila.
I would be like a little bit.
I want a little oil like thelegs, you know what I mean Like
a little bit greasy, not sayingthat.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
I don't know what
that means.
Your hairdresser Caitlin'slooking at you like Caitlin's,
like your hair.
Hello.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, she put some
dry shampoo in my hair earlier.
So I'm just going to say, khalila, because, yeah, and it's
delicious, just like you.
Yeah, just like me.
All right, good question.
Thank you so much, james.
All right, thank you.
Thank you for indulging us.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
I think I should get
Myrna up.
Myrna looks like she wants tocome up.
Myrna, come on, myrna.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Myrna, myrna.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
She's like myrna.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
She's like what have
you done this to me?
Oh, is that some?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
soft piano music.
Oh, just for Myrna.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
That was nice.
I had to wear my shoes fortheir colors because I was going
to have a t-shirt.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
But their t-shirt's
in the drawer, our t-shirt's
going to suck.
And they're in bank of art soif you want to support us.
You can go on Lane and Buy ourshirts, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Drambycom Guys, this
is our coin.
Yay, don't talk about itanymore Yay.
So tell us a little bit aboutwhere you from You're here.
I'm from Edmonton.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
I accidentally have a
husband from Scotland
Accidentally who doesn't drinkwhiskey, but I do.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Good, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, you know what?
Guess what, even as a realAlberta girl yeah, women can
drink whiskey, it's official.
We could do it now.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
Finally.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Here's a question.
Are you ready?
Sure, here the spotlight's onyou.
Ok, if you only had one whiskeyto drink for the rest of your
life, what would it be, and why?
Speaker 6 (19:21):
So it's the Dow moral
, or don't sorry, the Dow moral.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
That yes.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
So I accidentally,
prior to her previous career
with Yelp, before her there wasat the taste of Edmonton, I feel
like, was they had a Scotchtasting and I took everybody's
passport that didn't drinkScotch, so I could get more
stamps and drink more Scotch.
And the one I kept going backto was this Delmore that they
(19:49):
had and I'm like, ooh, I feellike I have antlers now.
So it was my first full on.
I could drink it and drink itand drink it, apparently because
I kept taking everybody's stampthat didn't want to drink
whiskey that day.
No, the other people didn't doScotch.
I took their passports, Istamped them all with that one,
(20:11):
to the point that the girl thatwas doing it she goes.
I don't think you're allowed tohave anymore, and because you
were technically supposed tohave one, because it was really
expensive at the time, but itwas beautiful.
And my second one is and Idon't know what it's called, but
you'd have to ask mymother-in-law, who is from
Scotland.
She lives in the Highlands, nowby Ballarder, and this whiskey
(20:34):
journey started with my husband, who didn't drink whiskey.
So at our 10-year vow renewal Isent my husband home with the
children and then drankexcessively with my
sister-in-law and mymother-in-law, who do drink
whiskey, and so my husband wenthome and, whatever that one was,
(20:55):
that was my second favorite.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Whoever it was,
canoes, canoes.
Speaker 6 (20:58):
That's a great story.
Great summer, Marmel Lots of it.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
It's sometimes the
moment in the situation that
makes the whiskey the bestwhiskey.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Could it have been
the event?
Speaker 1 (21:08):
It could have been
the event.
It could have been gin, no, no.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
No, it was whiskey.
We were in Scotland, oh OK.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
That's our 10-year
vow renewal.
Speaker 1 (21:16):

so-so-so-so-hard story oh, what
if you could drink one whiskeyforever?
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Maybe I have a little
Arabuna.
I love that.
Oh, I love that sherry bottleBig ol'.
Speaker 6 (21:25):

La.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
Clea.
La Clea, that was beautiful.
That's a good new distilleryfor sure.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
If you haven't had
that, try that.
And it'll make nice decor.
When you're done with it, it isbeautiful.
It's a beautiful bottle.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Right off the couch.
Oh wait, I have an answer.
My answer is Glenn Going 21.

First of all, where are youfrom?
What's your name?
Who are?
Speaker 4 (23:06):
you from?

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Sherwood.
Speaker 5 (23:08):

Sherwood Park, uh-huh.
Speaker 1 (23:10):

greatest fear?
Speaker 8 (23:12):
Sorry to get into
that, sitting on stage with the
two gorgeous ladies beside me.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Oh no, this should be
your dream.
Kent's such a charmer.
Ok, so here's the question Tellme your honest first story
about your first taste ofwhiskey.
Can you recall that?
What Get off the couch?
Speaker 8 (23:32):
I was about 14.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
14?
.
Speaker 8 (23:36):
Shocking.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
And it was just like
some kind of a random whiskey.
Speaker 8 (23:39):
It was my mom and dad
used to do Christmas parties
all the time.
Yeah, and my sister and mewould wake up early the next day
and go down and finish all thedrinks.
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
That's amazing.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Yeah, so now we are
talking that would be the
80s-ish not to give my age away.
But liquor back then wasn'tquite what we had now.
We had very, very slim pickingscompared to all the flavors we
have now, which is why I havesuch an amazing bar Because.
I want it all.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
And you almost do you
very much do I'm working hard.
Speaker 8 (24:17):
I'm trying, I'm
trying, I love the hecklers in
here.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
It's amazing, I have
the best experience.
I've actually seen his bar aswell.
Some people actually show up tomy friends At the NTs' Westview
Fire one time it was reallycool he's like what do you want?
Pick something.
I was like I literally cannotpick and I don't know what to
pick.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
He's like you're a
40-year-old, I was like pick
something for me please.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
I don't know, I'm
going to do a little.
Mima Pam at my bar.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Yeah, well, this is
actually a podcast, so you need
to describe it Sorry, yeah, oh,sorry, it was.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Draw Dropping to
Floor.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Stand on Come.
That was it.
That was it.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Pam, do you have an
answer to this query?
Speaker 4 (24:54):
You know what I was
thinking about this?
Because I've spoken on thepodcast before about how the
first time I drank whiskey andwas like, oh, I like this, it
was with my granny, but it wasmixed with lemonade.
But actually when I worked in abar just a pub and glass go, I
remember trying to drink justlike a white and macaque or
something like that and I waslike, oh my god, this is
(25:14):
horrendous.
And someone was like just putwater in it and I was like I'm
going to water the hell out ofthis because this is horrible
and I put loads in.
But then I realized I was stuckwith a giant glass of just like
gross and I was trying to drinkit for a really long time and
it was awful.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
That's a great memory
.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Yeah, so there you go
.
Speaker 8 (25:34):
I'm going to let you
turn off whiskey I know,
Speaker 4 (25:36):
And then the granny
got me back on it, so it's OK.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
God bless you, granny
.
Kevin Ostepec, here Is he stillhere, so I left him.
Oh, he left.
He had a thing, because he'sone of the reasons why he's not
here anymore, but he's one of.
He had gave me one of my firstwhiskey experiences.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Oh yeah, he's so
sweet.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
He's great, but I was
working out of Scotch Bar.
I was super overwhelmed.
Actually, the owners of theScotch Bar there's Doug and
Irene, right there from theBothy wine and whiskey bar Woo,
but he doesn't get any betterthan the selection there.
They were loving the drag showearlier.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
They were.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I saw you, Doug, I
mean.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
Irene.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
I was overwhelmed.
There's all these whiskeys andI didn't even know how to
pronounce Brook Lottie, letalone find it on the bar.
And I finished my first shiftand I was like just kind of like
.
I was like 1,000 yards stareafter.
But then Kevin came up and he'slike good job, kid, and he like
gave me a glass of at the time, the World Whiskey of the Year
(26:35):
in 2012.
It was the Arbic Supernova, which you probably heard me talk
about before.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
Well, here we go
again.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
I was, but it changed
my life.
I was like this is amazing, soyeah thank you.
Thank you, supernova.
So that's kind of the realfirst taste of whiskey.
So good, stir Love it, love itRight.
Can't be too.
Get out of here, can't oh?
Speaker 8 (26:57):
Before I run away.
Oh, ok, can we do a little?
Speaker 4 (27:01):
September 23rd in
Sherwood Park oh my god, he's
trying to book you for the fire.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
I'm totally doing my.
Thing.
Speaker 4 (27:08):

fire.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
She was amazing.
She stopped at traffic lightsin her window and said so was
the car next to us?
She was like hey, hey, do youlike whiskey?
And the guy who was in the backseat was like Grant or his mom
was in the front, like what'shappening?
Are you in the back here?
This is so uncomfortable.
And then we drove to the nextset of lights and stopped and
we're stuck next to them again.
It is so awkward.

I can't say today becausetoday's been huge, or what's
your favorite part Day of birth,so you go first.
Do you have anything for us tosay?
My favorite memory.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
But recently, I think
, is when we here and I went to,
we had a very cool opportunity.
You know, sometimes people justask you to do something.
You just say yes, whether ornot you know how to do it or not
.
You're just like OK.
So someone asked us like hey,do you want to do a mocktail
seminar for this yoga retreat onBowen Island?
And we're like oh sure, ofcourse.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
We were like no, I'll
go all in.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
We figured it out, ok
.
So we said, yes, we did it, butwe had our one night of working
, but then the rest of it.
We got to enjoy this amazing itwas even one night.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
It was two hours of
working.
It was two hours of work.
Then we got to enjoy ourretreat and we went swimming in
a lake and it was a beautifulmoment.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
We really bonded yeah
.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
The best part of that
was having a chef for three
days, yeah, and we had likeBurton Ernie beds, like they
were like little tiny singlebeds.
Also, we took weed gummies thatnight.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
And we took weed
gummies.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
And I couldn't plug
the fan in my dad's right there.

Yeah, oh, my god, yeah, withTravis who's out the back
actually.
So definitely go and see himwith Boulder Spirits.
He hosts an amazing festivalevery year and it raises so much
money for the Edmonton FoodBank and we helped him out this
(36:59):
year.
We made amazing tabledecorations and we just helped
him kind of elevate it a littlebit.
He raised something like 40grand for the Edmonton Food Bank
.
It was insane.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
And it was all
because of the WSCE community.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
And that possibly is
my favorite thing that to go
back to Caitlin's question forus one of the most amazing
things was done.
So being part of that wasamazing and that, for me, made
us feel like we were really partof the Edmonton WSCE community
scene, which was really nice.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Yeah, we felt
enveloped and embraced with a
warm heart.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Yeah, like a warm
wave, especially when Kent
bought the Donairs at 3 o'clockin the morning.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
The real hero?
Yeah, but I know, do we havetime for one more question when?
Speaker 4 (37:42):
