Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, and welcome to
another episode of El Paso,
local area business talk.
I'm here with Robert Navarre.
Who's a lawyer at the law officeof Robert Andrew Navarro Esq.
And how are you doing today?
Robert?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good.
Thank you.
Uh, glad to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Great, great.
Well, um, we're just going toask you some questions and just
go through them and just try toreally just inform the public
about kind of the services youoffer and the benefits of using
somebody like you.
Okay.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Sure.
Be happy
Speaker 1 (00:31):
To help.
Okay.
So I know you do traffictickets.
Uh, what are the benefits ofhiring a traffic ticket lawyer,
as opposed to just trying tohandle it myself?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Thank you for the
question.
And the major benefit is that ifyou, uh, had the unfortunateness
of getting a traffic ticket,it's important that you try to
get that deal with and addressedas soon as possible.
Because, uh, generally if, onceyou get a ticket, it goes into
(01:00):
the system.
You have a certain period oftime in which you have to show
up to court and enter entering aplea of guilty or not guilty.
And, uh, if you don't do thatwithin that timeframe, the court
will actually issue you anothercitation for violating your
(01:20):
promise to appear.
And, uh, there'll be asubsequent warrant for your
arrest.
So if you've got thatoutstanding warrant, you can be,
uh, subject to arrest at anypoint in time.
If you get pulled over or youmight have a cop that might show
up at your house, uh, or at yourplace of work to try to execute
(01:41):
that warrant and have youarrested and then you'll have to
pay post the bond.
And then once you get out ofjail, you're still going to have
to deal with the initial trafficcitation, plus another citation
for violating your promise toappear.
And you certainly don't want tohave that happen to you.
So it's important that youcontact a lawyer so that, uh,
(02:03):
the attorney can, uh, review thecase and file the necessary
paperwork with the court and apeer on your behalf.
And, um, and what we try to doat my office is we work very
hard.
We have a good workingrelationship with the
prosecutors, the courts, uh,we're very familiar with all the
(02:23):
judges here in the El Pasocounty, so we can, uh, uh, dress
your citation.
And, uh, we have a very goodtrack record of getting that
dismissed and, um, that way youdon't have to worry about it
anymore.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Okay, great.
When you say appearing on ourbehalf, uh, that pretty much
means we don't have to show up,is that correct?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
That's right.
You don't have to worry aboutshowing up.
You don't have to worry aboutdoing anything, going to the
court, uh, having a weight, uh,spend hours waiting for your
case to be heard, uh, or, um,trying to get it, uh, dealt with
on own and the hassle that comesabout with, uh, missing
deadlines of, you know, somepeople oftentimes just think, oh
(03:06):
, I'll just take defensivedriving.
And there are certaincircumstances where the court
may not even allow you to dodefensive driving.
If they do allow it, if, uh, youdon't strictly adhere to their
requirements, you end up havingto pay not only the court costs,
but, uh, you run the risk ofgetting a guilty conviction on
your record, which is going to,uh, definitely make your
(03:29):
insurance premiums go up and, uh, could, could potentially hurt
you with as far as far asemployment goes.
If you, if your employerrequires you to drive for work,
uh, they're going to, um, uh,maybe run a background, check on
you and they'll see that youhave a, uh, traffic ticket on
(03:51):
your record, and that coulddefinitely hurt you there.
So, uh, it's, it's importantthat you, um, get an attorney
such as our office because, uh,like I said, w we, we have a
good chance that we can, uh, getthat citation dismissed so that
you don't ever have to worryabout it again and, or showing
up to court or, um, having tocomply with whatever
(04:15):
arrangements you've made.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, that's great.
Um, sounds really wonderful.
Uh, you know, what, if we'remiss my court date, we could
still hire you.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yes.
That happens quite often.
Um, and so when you missed yourcourt date, the judge will issue
a citation for your failure toappear plus a bench warrant for
your arrest.
And, uh, and then, uh, at thatpoint, if you try to address it
yourself, uh, you're going tohave to pay the warrant fee, uh,
(04:49):
which is usually anywhere from$250 to 500, plus the citation
for not appearing in court, which is another$500 fines.
You're looking at pain, uh,having to pay close to a
thousand dollars and court costsand fees for simply missing that
court date.
But if you contact my office, wecan for a very small amount of,
(05:11):
uh, fee, uh, we, we will chargeyou a small fee so that we can
file paperwork.
We file paperwork that isnecessary, and that, uh, the
judge, uh, will sign off on,which will basically remove your
warrant, uh, clear any warrantsthat you have in the system, so
that you don't have to worryabout getting arrested.
(05:31):
We, we go ahead and take care ofthat for you.
And then we set up a court date.
You don't have to worry about,uh, going to court or doing any
of that.
Uh, and we, we basically, wetake it from there and we handle
everything on your behalf.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
That sounds
wonderful.
I'm really sounds good.
Um, I know you do El Paso.
Do you do the surroundingcities?
And if so, which ones do you do?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
We, we pretty much
handle all about Paso county,
all the surrounding, uh, cities,uh, that includes, uh, San
Elizario Socorro, horizon city,uh, Clint, uh, Vinton, Texas,
Anthony, Texas, uh, pretty much,uh, every, any, any, um, region,
any, any, uh, municipalitywithin the El Paso, uh, county
(06:19):
area we can handle and help youon it.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Okay.
That sounds good.
Um, you know, let's go ahead andpivot to something else that you
offer.
You know, sometimes people haveso many tickets and warrants
that have been found guilty forit.
They got a suspended license, for example.
Um, do you, do you offerservices like occupational
licenses to help people get backon the road?
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yes, absolutely.
Um, the state of Texas still can, uh, potentially suspend your
license.
And a lot of people still have asituation where they can't get
their license renewed orreinstated because they owe so
much money in traffic tickets, surcharge fees, um,
reinstatement fees that, um,what happens is the only way you
(07:04):
can get your licenses.
If you go down to the DPS, waithours in line, and then you have
to come up with the money rightaway.
Well, uh, that takes a lot oftime and it's going to take a
lot of money for anybody that'strying to get their license
back.
So what we do in the meantime,so that you can get a license
right away so that you can goout and drive on the street and
(07:25):
not have to worry about gettingpulled over, potentially getting
arrested, or getting anothercitation for driving with a
suspended license.
We file what's called anoccupational license with, uh,
one of the courts here in ElPaso county.
And once we file that for thatoccupational license, we can
generally get you a occupationallicense in approximately about
(07:48):
as quickly as, uh, but possibly10 to 14 days.
We go ahead and get, you havethat license in your hand.
It's valid for two years withthat occupational license, you
can go drive to work.
You can drive to school, you candrive to the grocery store.
If you need to go see thedoctor's office, this basically
(08:09):
gives you that license to beable to drive on the street.
And it gives you the peace ofmind that while you're trying to
get your license resolved withthe department of
transportation, you, at least atthe very least you are illegal.
And, uh, you're operating underthe guidelines of the law and
it's permitted for you to driveand you, you can also get
(08:31):
insurance.
Um, and, and so you don't haveto worry about, um, any of those
things happening to you.
And, and, uh, we definitely dothat.
We offer that for our clients ata very small fee, and we can get
that taken care of very quickly.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Okay, great.
You know, let's say I'm, uh,just driving through the city of
El Paso.
I get pulled over.
Um, obviously I can't go to youroffice.
Do you guys offer any othermethods of hiring you other than
in-person?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
We, we generally, um,
uh, make it very easy for the
clients to get the informationto us so that we can start the
process of handling your trafficticket.
Just simply go, you can goonline or you can call our
office and, uh, you can doeverything on the phone or
(09:19):
online, uh, just put in the, um,uh, the ticket information
online, or if you call ouroffice, we, all we would need is
just your name, uh, your date ofbirth, the ticket number, and we
can pull you up in the systemfairly quickly.
We accept all major creditcards, debit cards, um, you
(09:42):
know, anything, um, anythingthat has a visa logo on the
card.
You can just use that pay forit.
And, uh, you know, you have toshow up in person, you don't
have to worry about driving ouroffice or, uh, bringing
paperwork, anything like that.
We can take care of everythingover the phone or on the
internet, uh, through email, uh,through our actual website where
(10:03):
you can just put in theinformation either, either way
we can handle that for you and,uh, saves, saves, uh, our
clients a lot of time and it'sbeen very useful.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Okay.
Yeah, that's great.
Um, you know, back to thatoccupational license, obviously
people need that for work andstuff like that.
What if, um, you're kind ofunder age, let's say you're 15
or 16.
Are you, is it, are you able toget a license for somebody like
that?
Uh, they may be, they're takingcare of their elderly
grandmother.
I have to go get groceries or dothey have to be a certain age?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Well, if you were, uh
, technically you're still 15 or
16, you're still technically aminor.
And so, um, what, um, you wouldfirst have to do is, uh, go take
a driver's ed school.
You can get a driver's learner'spermit.
So that allows you to drive witha licensed driver that's 21
(11:00):
years of age or older, and, uh,in the seat of the car.
And then you can valley drive.
Unfortunately, the occupationallicenses are generally just
reserved for people who at onepoint had their driver's
license, but God it's suspendedbecause, uh, they, uh, let's say
for example, they were arrestedand charged with driving while
(11:23):
intoxicated, which is anautomatic one year suspension,
or if, because of multipletickets, the state of Texas, uh,
suspended a person's license, those, those are the situations
where the occupational licensecan help you.
But if it's for an individual, such as a minor who has never
had a license, uh, unfortunatelyright now, the way the law is,
(11:46):
they would have to first atleast, uh, take the driving
test, get their license.
Um, but the, basically theoccupational license doesn't
just necessarily replace the,uh, and become a license, uh,
for like a minor, like in your,uh, example, a 15 year old,
can't just apply for anoccupational license.
(12:07):
These are generally, um, only, only for people who want at one
point had the license.
So unfortunately you can't helpthat situation, but we can
definitely help people who havethat suspended license problem.
There's, there's many peoplethat have that issue.
We can help them get a temporarylicense, uh, fairly.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Okay.
So I know you do speedingtickets, no insurance tickets,
removal of a warrant for atraffic violation.
Are there other class Cmisdemeanors that you guys
handle?
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yes, we, um, all
types of class, C misdemeanors,
uh, such as if you're out onenight and, and, uh, let's say
you've had a couple of drinksand, uh, there is a domestic or
a violent outbursts that occurs.
The cops may be called.
They may arrest you, or, uh, forwhat's called public
(13:00):
intoxication.
Uh, that's generally considereda class C misdemeanor or, um,
another type of class Cmisdemeanor that we handle quite
often as if let's say, if youget pulled over for, uh, any
number of, uh, traffic violationreasons and the officer, uh,
observes or smells, uh, thesense of marijuana.
(13:23):
And they, uh, let's say theydecide to search your vehicle.
They find a glass pipe withmarijuana residue, or let's say,
uh, uh, what, what you call aRoach, which is a small joint
that you have, uh, left in yourcar, maybe in your Astro or
something that's still in ElPaso county.
It's still illegal.
And, but what officers areroutinely doing now is just
(13:46):
giving you a citation for what'scalled drug paraphernalia, which
is a class C misdemeanor.
We handle those, um, there'sothers types of situations where
, um, if you're, um, parked in ahandicapped zone, you get a
ticket for being in a handicapzone.
That's a class C misdemeanor,which is a very expensive, fine,
(14:08):
uh, or if you are, um, let's sayyou're dumping out trash and a,
um, a place that's notdesignated as a landfill.
You could be charged withillegal dumping, which is
another class C misdemeanor, uh,potentially, or, uh, let's say
if you're outdoor burningsomething.
Um, sometimes if you, if you'reburning trash, um, the, uh, fire
(14:33):
Marshall may come, come out andthey'll give you a citation for
what's called illegal burning.
Uh, El Paso county has a burnban in effect so that, um, you
could be charged with that.
Or, uh, let's say you, youdidn't get your dogs, you have a
small dog or a cat.
You didn't get them microchip,or you didn't get them
(14:55):
vaccinated.
And, uh, animal control, uh,gets called out.
Uh, if you have, um, let's sayyour dog gets out or something,
animal control gets involved, they'll look, and they'll see,
uh, they'll ask you if you canprove that the animal has been
recently vaccinated, if youdon't have those records.
So if you issue a UAA citationfor that as well.
(15:18):
Uh, so there's quite a few, um,areas that we handle for classy
misdemeanors that you don'tdon't necessarily have to be
just a traffic moving violation.
Registration tickets are very, something very common that we
handle, um, which are considerednon-moving violations.
But you know, those, those canaffect you if, if you don't, um,
(15:40):
if you get a ticket for aregistration and you don't do
anything about that, it will puta hold on your vehicle so that
you cannot get your vehicleregistered until you pay that
hold fee, which is usually, uh,it's, what's called like a
surcharge.
What's an extra fee on top ofthe normal registration fee.
(16:01):
We help you handle thatregistration, take it so that it
doesn't, um, put a hold on.
Let's say, or let's say youcan't renew your license because
you have a hold on yourregistration.
That is something we also helpwith as well.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Okay.
That's great.
So you pretty much got the wholegambit covered home from
anything traffic related togetting you back on the road.
So that sounds pretty correct.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Oh yeah.
Any, any type of a violationthat you got?
Um, that's, uh, con considered aclass C misdemeanor.
When I say classy misdemeanor,that's generally, that's a fine
that's punishable by a$500 fine.
Uh, there's generally no jailtime associated with classy
misdemeanors.
However, uh, what, what is oftenhappened?
(16:45):
I've seen it happen quite a bitis people actually will get put
in jail for a class Cmisdemeanor if they got a ticket
and they didn't do anythingabout that.
And it became a warrant like wediscussed earlier that those are
situations where you canactually end up in jail.
So that's why it's very, veryimportant that if you do have a
(17:05):
warrant, you contact my officeright away so that we can get
that warrant removed and thatyou don't end up having to spend
the night in jail.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
All right.
Well, Mr.

retain his services.

Okay.
All right.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Thank you everyone.
Thank you for having me.
Okay.
