(05:25):
And listen to the segmenttomorrow where Michael Thomas
and I will be talking all aboutthe event.
And then we've got a specialguest from Motorheads popping in
to talk about the place too.
So going to be a great episodefor you tomorrow.
But today, for our SeparationSaturdays training, a lot of
folks I talked to this week, wetalked about purpose and

(05:48):
persistence.
And some of the episodes comingin the next week, we talk a lot
about persistence.
So I wanted to touch again todayon what we talk about in 10x
when it comes to purpose andpersistence.
So the power of persistencecannot be understated.
That's not to say that we justcontinue to bang our heads

(06:10):
against the wall if something'snot working, but persistence
towards your purpose is reallywhere it's at.
Persistence towards your goalsand towards your targets.
Now the plans may change, thetactics may change, the
strategies may change, butpersisting toward that purpose
is what's ultimately what isgoing to get you to where you

(06:33):
want to be.
So let's take a moment and talkabout purpose through a 10x
lens.
So in 10x, one of the areas thatwe discuss a lot is purpose.
You see, often people disconnecttheir purpose from their job or
from their career, but knowingyour purpose and connecting it

(06:55):
with your daily activities iscritical to becoming a 10x
professional or curating that10x mindset.
There's a number of things youcan do to drive you toward your
purpose when it comes to uh 10xthinking.
If you've listened to me for awhile, you've heard me say this

(07:16):
first one approach success asyour duty.
You have a duty to create nextlevel success, not only so you
can have the things you want, but so other people will see you
as a role model.
You may recall when ChrisHartsuck was on the show, he
talked about success is hisduty, not just his success, but

(07:39):
success of all those around him.
And we're not talking aboutnecessarily success just as
money or as recognition or somekind of trophy or a pat on the
back.
It's really about a duty to takecare of your family and those

(08:01):
that are close to you, right?
So if you really have a 10xmindset, success is no longer
optional.
Success is no longer somethingthat you're wishing for or
praying for.
Instead, it's your duty and yourobligation.
And when you do that you startto approach success as an

(08:23):
ethical issue, not as just youknow, reading reaching some
financial target, right?
So now that the idea of successis your duty and obligation when
it's an ethical issue, you know,it means you have the money to
take care of your family, growyour business, make yourself

(08:44):
known.
You see, you know what you'recapable of, you know what your
mission is on this planet.
Make it an ethical mission tofulfill yourself as well as your
contribution to your communityor your industry.
And as a result, you're gonna bemore motivated.
Now you've heard me talk a lotabout motivation versus

(09:08):
discipline.
Motivation is fleeting, whereasdiscipline will get you through
everything.
But when you treat success as anethical issue, it will give you
that drive, it will give yousome of that added motivation
that you might need in certaintimes.
We also talk about when it comesto purpose, being the most

(09:29):
ethical person you know.
And we're not talking aboutjust, you know, not stealing
money or not, you know, lyingand things like that.
We're talking about being anexample.
Real ethics means you must getthe job done, that people can
depend on you to provide foryourself, your family, your

(09:49):
business.
So you're a role model for yourcommunity.
Again, that's going to give youmotivation to drive toward your
purpose.
So when we're talking about bethe most ethical person you
know, it's about knowing thatwhen you're driving towards your
purpose, you're driving towardthat success, and it is your
ethical obligation, it is yourduty to get that done.

(10:15):
Because you really need to havea higher purpose than just
financial success, than justmoney.
We all need money.
Money makes the world go around,it doesn't buy happiness, but it
can certainly buy a lot of funand it can certainly make things
easier.
So we all need to have that as adriver for us, but not your

(10:41):
higher purpose.
You know, what do you want moneyfor?
What would that be?
Is it for a house?
Is it for security for yourfamily?
Is it to be able to go on abunch of vacations and spend
time with your family more?
The greats in anything know thatthey must be driven by something
other than just money awards andrewards.

(11:02):
They have some kind ofinspiration, something driving
them from the inside that keepsthem showing up long after
others have quit.
You know, they know and theyneed to know what they're doing
is making a difference for theirclients and their community.
Again, coming at it from a placeof an ethical duty for that.

(11:28):
When you have that strongpurpose and you've made it your
ethical duty for success and toget to that purpose, the next
step is to never settle for goodwhen you can be great.
If you think good's your target, you might quite frankly, you
might up end up end up with lessthan good.
If you think great is thetarget, you're at least gonna

(11:51):
get good because you know you'regonna take the amount of action
necessary to do that.
So why settle for good when weall have the ability to be
great?
We all know that we can't do itby ourselves, so get some great
partners.
Partners could be your spouse, your friends, the people you do
business with, folks you are inassociations with.

(12:13):
Make sure they're great, notaverage, not mediocre.
They need to bring great ideas, they need to bring great
customers with them.
So get yourself some greatpartners.
Think great things, do greatthings, create great with these
folks.
Even if you come up short, greatpartners are always gonna

(12:35):
achieve more together than theywould by themselves.
We talk a lot aboutcollaboration is the new
currency, and communities growtogether.
That's one of the main themes onthe show.
We talk about this a ton becauseit is so important.
So get yourself some greatpartners, surround yourself with

(12:56):
the right people.
Robbie uh Matthews talked aboutthis a lot in terms of getting
around the right people.
If you're just sitting arounddrinking beer, making fun of
everybody, he said you'vescripted your life right there.
But if you get yourself aroundpositive people, the referrals
come, the greatness comes, thegrowth comes.

(13:17):
So get yourself some greatpartners and surround yourself
with the right people.
And now as you're doing that, you've got to trim some of the
negativity as well, and you haveto ignore anyone who says you
can't.
You have to simply tune outanyone who says you can't or
tries to impose limits on you.

(13:39):
Could be a family member, couldbe an employee, could be a
manager.
If somebody says it can't bedone and you know it can be,
ignore them.
Great people, great inventors, great politicians, great
salespeople, great businesspeople, great athletes have all
done things other people havejust refused to do, or things

(13:59):
people were convinced wereimpossible.
So tune them out and let's pushtoward the impossible.
Great things will happen.
Now, when you're pushing towardthat impossible, you've got that
purpose set, you're disciplined, you're motivated, the whole
nine, some things you can do toput you in charge.

(14:20):
Create daily rituals.
Daily rituals give you a senseof control.
We talk a lot about control inthe 10x world because when you
have control, you can make adifference, you can make an
impact, you can control results.
If you don't control the inputs, you're not going to be
controlling the outputs, right?

(14:40):
So you want as much control aspossible.
And daily rituals can give youat least a sense of control.
Maybe it's prayer, maybe it'sthought, maybe it's reading,
maybe it's working out, maybeit's quiet time, whatever.
Create some daily rituals thatmake you feel good about
yourself, your day, your startthat motivate you and control

(15:02):
what you can control.
I've talked many times about mymorning routine.
I would encourage everyone tohave a morning routine that
includes personal andprofessional development,
working out.
All of it.
It gets your day out on theright track.
It puts you in a solid frame ofmind moving forward and it puts

(15:23):
you in control.
So, what's your purpose?
Maybe you don't know it yet.
Spend some time and think aboutthat.
You know, what are your goalsand why do you want to achieve
those goals?
Are they tied to a purpose?
Are they tied to a higherpurpose?
Why do you really want them?

(15:44):
Push yourself to get to thehigher reason.
And the way you can do that isby continuing to ask why.
All right.
What does this mean for you andwhat does this mean for your
family?
So maybe your goal is, hey, Iwant to make a hundred thousand
dollars this year as an employeefor X company, right?

(16:04):
Why?
And then when you answer that, why?
And then when you answer that, why?
Eventually you're gonna get tothat higher purpose.
Because maybe that hundred Kmeans, hey, you can take an
extra vacation this year withthe family.
Maybe that means you can buy ahouse, right?
So but keep asking yourself why.

(16:26):
Business owners, you could dothe same thing.
Hey, maybe I want to hit the onemillion dollar mark this year,
whatever the case you may be foryour goal.
Maybe you want to hit a million, maybe you want to hit ten
million, or maybe you arealready way past that and you're
trying to hit a hundred million.
Why?
Keep asking yourself why todrive toward that higher
purpose.

(16:46):
Again, that purpose is what'sgoing to give you drive,
motivation, and the disciplineto continue going when
everything gets hard.
So there's really seven areasthat we talk about in 10x for
your goals.
And I would recommend that youhave goals in all seven of these

(17:08):
areas.
Income, wealth, and those aredifferent.
Think about that.
Income, what's your income goalfor this year, but also what's
your wealth goal, your wealthcreation goal, physical goals.
Maybe you want to work out somemore this year, maybe you want
to lose 20 pounds, maybe youwant to gain 15 pounds of
muscle, right?
What's your physical goals?

(17:29):
Spiritual goals, familial goals, recreational goals, and
professional goals.
Now, a lot of these will tietogether because your income and
professional goal, they mighttie into, hey, I want to make
$250,000 this year so I can havea familial and recreational goal

(17:50):
of going to Hawaii or going toEurope or wherever, right?
Having multiple vacations thisyear to be able to spend more
time with the family.
So they can overlap to a degree, but have goals in all seven of

these areas (18:03):
income, wealth, physical, spiritual, familial,
recreational, and professional.
