Irem shares her story of how she grew up in a small town in Turkiye and had always dreamed of traveling the world.
Her passion for traveling led her into pursuing her dream career of becoming a Captain for a "mega" cruise ship, in an industry dominated by males.
Irem was recently promoted as 1st Officer for Celebrity Cruises by Captain Kate McCue. She shares how this was a huge honor, as Captain Kate is the first American female captain of a large cruise ship (Celebrity Beyond) and is considered both a pioneer and a trailblazer in this field -as she demonstrates and exemplifies that women can also succeed in this industry.
Irem opens up about the many challenges she has faced pursuing this career path and celebrates her accomplishments of breaking the longstanding gender barriers in this field.
