On this episode of the Engineers Hub Podcast, Licensed Professional Engineer and Business Executive, Scott Harvey-Lewis, PE, joins us to discuss his career starting as a Structural Designer to now serving as the VP of Engineering at Engineering Express. 

During our conversation, Scott shares his journey rising up the ranks from a Structural Designer to obtaining his Professional Engineering license, transitioning into an industry that allowed him to capitalize more on those soft skills, and leading the growth of offices with revenues in the multimillion dollars. He also touches on the external factors as well as traits and skills required in order to scale and grow. 

Additionally, Scott discusses the importance of self-awareness, knowing one’s strengths, and positioning oneself in a manner that capitalizes on those strengths. He shares valuable information on how anyone listening can work on improving their soft skills, and discusses his philosophy when it comes to negotiating personally on things such as salary and when it comes to dealing with clients. 

Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and physical activities such as weightlifting, swimming, and biking.
