Had a chance to catch up withthe Dodgers new left fielder David Peralta earlier
today. All Right, we arehere yet, Kemelback Ranch and Glendale,
Arizona with one of the newest Dodgersoutfielder, David Peralta. David, thanks

having me first day out here withthe rest of the guys as position players

it's a little weird, you know, it the first time having a speech
rounding with a different team, butas a special you know, we gotta
like a nice minute today being getto know all the guy on the youth
team mate. Such a great groupof guys, and I'm really excited to
be part of this organization for sure. Dave Roberts said he had a few
of the new guys stand up infront of the team. Were you one

of those new guys? I wasthe first one, you know, he
got me out of guard. Hewas asking me a question about reason why
I had I want to be here, and it's as simple as I want
to I want to win, youknow, I want to win the Championship.
I want to win the Wolfster soand this is the right team to
do it, and I mean todo a lot of things right. And
you've been facing for a long timeand the other side seeing the way to

go out of out of their business. I want to be part of that.
So I'm really excited to be onthis part and I'm just going to
do my best to help with teamand win. The will said, even
though you signed weight, there werea lot of teams that wanted David Parralta.
How did that make you feel infree agency that not just any teams
wanted you, but winning teams wantedyou. I was, it was really

really good. I mean those aremy first time in my career that I
was a free agent, and youknow, I didn't know a little bit
too much like how how that professorsgo. It was kind of as lower
process. But you know, likeyou said, it was a lot of
teams that we were talking their winningteam. And if makes you feel specialis
make you making me feel like I'vebeen doing something good my whole career.

The teams want me to be partof them. So I'm good right now,
and I him wait till it's beenkind of startings. And hey,
Dodger fans know all about David Parraltaplaying against you with the Diamondbacks, you
made a big impression if you werea Dodger killer. I don't know about
that, but yeah, if youcan throw it that way, I guess
there's a good and good, healthyway to say it. But you know

I didn't. I was always everytime I step into to to the to
the fields, the home play,and I was trying to do my best,
you know, play hard, playthe right way, and and and
that's all they do. So Iguess that now I'm and in the other
side, I'm gonna get it withthe Doggers. So I'm really tired.
Are you interested to see how theydo things being on this side of it,

knowing what you saw playing against them? Yeah, of course that was
my biggest uh thing. My uhfirst thought, like, hey, I
want to see I want to knowhow they go about their business because they
always they always winning there, They'realways doing something right, and I want
to be part of that for sure. When you hear about elbow surgeries,
you instantly think of pictures, howdoes your arm feel? Because everybody knows

you can cover a lot of groundand left field. Do you feel like
the old David Pralta. I'm I'mgood. I'm yeah, I'm healthy,
I'm healthy, eye about I'm I'mhealthy, and I'm just like, you
know, work my I like,you know, it'll work really hard,
you know, in the LF seasontoo, to be in shaved, to
prepare for this coming season because Iknow it's gonna be a challenge. I
know it's gonna be a lot ofa lot of you know, challenge.

We're gonna have the team, We'regonna be winning a lot, so I
need to be ready for that.I want to be part of that for
sure, for the whole season.Was part of the attraction signing with the
Dodgers? Was it part of it? Coming back to the NLST You're familiar
with the stadiums, the pictures.How much did that factor into you signing
with the Dodgers. You know,I didn't think too much about that,
but of course that really helped,you know, really help knowing this division

for a long time. They'll bemy whole career in this division. And
and and of course, but youknow, you're you're a big, big
player. You're gonna adjust for everythingor whatever. Situation you're gonna have on
whatever team you're gonna be. Soof course I'm here with the dogs.
I'm I'm, I'm this the divisionthat I know for a long time,
So it's gonna be I'm not gonnasay easy, because baseball's not easy.

Hitting is not easy, play differit's not easy. But I'm I'm not
familiar with this division. How muchpride do you take in your defense,
because that's part of David PRARAULTA.A big part of it is the way
you play defense. You're not aguy that you just stick in left field.
You actually play gold glove caliber leftfield. I take a lot of

easier to pronounce. And I'm alittle biased towards that name as well,
but really a great guy. Andyou know, I realized today talking to
him that part of the reason whyDavid Parulta signed so late in the offseason
with the Dodgers is because the Athleticreported he had her neated disc last year.

The second half of the year,he had a herniated disk and had
back surgery during the off season.So that's something to keep an eye on
as well. I don't believe he'sdone too much baseball stuff this offseason,
because he was a little gassed afterthe first workout today. But he's still
in good shape and he doesn't looklike a guy that had offseason back surgery.

I don't know how involved the backsurgery was, but certainly when you
have a herniated disk and it requiressurgery, that's a little scary and concerning
because I have a herniated disc.If you have a bad back, you
know, bad backs are tough toget rid of, whether you have surgery

or not. I'm sure playing onthat rigid AstroTurf at Tropicana Field did not
help his back issues and maybe accentuatedthat. But he's thirty five years old
coming off back surgery. Hopefully he'shealthy enough to get his swing back and
be the David Peralta or close tothe David Peralta we saw a few years

back with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sothat's another layer to this signing. David
Peralta. Is he going to haveto be on load management coming off back
surgery. That's something we're gonna haveto monitor as we go through spring training.
But a great guy and first impressiona good one, and hopefully he

can be as good as he waswith the Arizona Diamondbacks. He hit three
hundred as recently during that shortened twentytwenty season, and you know, had
thirty doubles as recently as last yearbetween the Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays.
In fact, the Dodgers had interestin trading for Parolta at the deadline last

year. Instead, he was tradedto the Tampa Bay Race. So he's
another guy, along with JD.Martinez, that the Dodgers tried to get
at the trade deadline a year ago, and now here both are in a
Dodger uniform. So David Parulta andJD. Martinez, two veterans that the
Dodgers were looking to trade for atthe deadline last year, were unsuccessful in

doing so, and here they bothare on one year contracts with the Dodgers
