Courtney (00:00):
Hey, hey, hey you guys
, welcome back to the Faithfully
Confident Podcast.
I am your host, christianConfidence Coach Courtney Berry,
and whether you're joining usfor the first time or you're a
regular listener, I'm gladyou're here.
If God has called you to stepinto entrepreneurship while also
navigating the beautiful yetchallenging world of motherhood,
(00:20):
you're in the right place.
And we still talk about saleson here.
But I feel we have a little bitof a pivot happening.
So we will see how this goeswith the podcast.
So I've been praying about itfor a while and we haven't had a
few any episodes for the pastlike a few months.
So we will see how thisdirection goes.
But we'll still be talkingabout sales, we'll still be
(00:42):
talking about marketing.
We're just going to be nuzzlingin a little bit of motherhood
in this journey.
Now.
That is a big part of my liferight now as a mom, but anyways.
So being a mom and running abusiness, it is not easy.
But today we're going to unpackwhat it means to stop letting
excuses hold us back, no moreleaning on the doubt, the
(01:05):
overwhelm or fear as a reason toplay small.
This episode is going to beabout pushing past those
limitations, trusting that God'sequipped us for both roles and,
yes, we can embrace the hustlewithout sacrificing our families
.
You guys, or those dreams thathe placed in our hearts?
This is going to be or thosedreams that he placed in our
(01:27):
hearts, this is going to be areally bold, raw, no-nonsense
episode about ditching theexcuses, embracing the hustle,
talking about how to keep movingforward, balancing business and
motherhood, without letting onesabotage the other, and how to
show up in just every area ofour life with that boldness and
(01:47):
confidence that God has equippedus with.
So, if you are ready for that, let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we come beforeyou today with open hearts,
ready to receive your wisdom andguidance as we navigate the
journey of balancing motherhoodand entrepreneurship.
We know that this path ischallenging, but with you by our
(02:09):
side, lord, we are equipped tohandle both the roles with grace
and strength.
Lord, we ask for the courage toconfront our excuses, the
reasons we often hold ourselvesback from the growth and success
that you have called us to.
Lord, help us to recognize whenwe are letting the fear, doubt
(02:30):
or overwhelm stand in the way ofwhat you've placed on our
hearts to accomplish.
Lord, give us the boldness topush past those barriers,
trusting that you will providethe energy, the resources and
wisdom that we need to thrive inboth motherhood and business.
As we juggle the demands ofraising children and building
our businesses, remind us thatwe do not have to choose one
(02:53):
over the other.
With your help, lord, we canembrace the hustle without
sacrificing the love and carethat our families need.
Lord, show us how to prioritize, lord, show us how to find
balance.
And, lord, show us how to leaninto your strength when we feel
that overwhelm seeping in andthe enemy tries to attack.
Lord, we pray for perseverancewhen the days feel long and the
(03:17):
challenges seem too great.
Lord, help us to stay focusedon the bigger picture, the
dreams that you've placed in ourhearts and the impact that we
are called to make.
Lord, fill us with resilienceand remind us that we are not
alone in this journey.
Oh, lord, we have you and weare so grateful.
Lord, bless every motherlistening, encourage her spirit
(03:40):
and fill her with confidence, and remind her that she is
capable of achieving the successthat she desires without guilt
or hesitation.
May she step into her callingfully, embracing the hustle with
joy, knowing that you are withher every step of the way, in
Jesus' name, we pray amen.
(04:05):
All right, you guys, let's beginthis very powerful episode that
I really felt the Lord callingme to do.
And again, this isn't thenormal type of episode that I'd
be recording.
It's very, very off key.
But I feel like it's also kindof intertwined with
(04:28):
entrepreneurship as well, because a lot of you are our
mothers and trying to balance abusiness and it is tough, it is
very tough to juggle being a mom, juggle being a wife, juggle
your, you know, being a child ofgod and being a mom and a
(04:48):
business.
I think I said mom twice beinga business owner.
I like all the things.
It's very challenging andthere's especially if you're
like myself and you have atoddler, balancing everything
with your toddler's routine, those unpredictable schedules,
those sleepless nights, theemotional demands of motherhood,
(05:11):
very emotionally demanding.
There I need to remind you, Ijust want to take a moment to
remind you.
It is so important on thisjourney to give yourself that
grace and compassion, because itis very, it's very stressful.
(05:33):
It is very stressful.
There's lots of overwhelm, there's lots of doubt, like the
enemy loves to attack moms whoare trying to start a business,
especially a faith-basedbusiness.
He is so he is so, so up inthere trying to knock us down.
But we have God within us.
(05:53):
We cannot fail.
But it's very important that, through the lack of time, the
exhaustion, the fear of failure, the guilt about balancing
family and business, or justfeeling like you're not enough
those common excuses that manymompreneurs face it is very
(06:14):
important that you very quickly, very quickly, learn how to turn
those excuses, those mentalbarriers that stop you from
moving forward in your business, that you learn how to just stop
them, you learn how to justshut them right down, because it
(06:35):
is tough, you guys, it's reallytough, and that's why I feel
like this episode is going to bejust so powerful for so many of
you, myself included.
I know I'm going to go back andlisten to this when I need it.
I do that with a lot of myepisodes, if I'm being honest.
But, yeah, it's reallyimportant to just learn how
self-doubt and overwhelm canlead to that procrastination and
(06:58):
all those missed opportunitiesand those, especially, those
sleepless nights, Because I meanagain, motherhood
entrepreneurship.
I mean again motherhoodentrepreneurship.
Need I say more?
But there's that scripture andI want you to remember to use
(07:19):
scripture and your faith as fuelto continue to push yourself
forward and continue on thisjourney because trusting in
God's plan and using that faithto feel you, to push through
those excuses and those veryhard moments and just getting in
that spiritual alignment, reminding yourself that God
doesn't call us to exhaustion, but he calls us to this
purposeful work, and we need toremember that if we're going to
(07:40):
continue on this journey.
It is very easy to feel like afailure.
It's very easy to get stuck upin that exhaustion and feeling
like, oh, I just don't haveenough time.
But we do have enough time andit's not that, you know, hustle,
hustle, hustle, hustle.
I actually really hate the wordhustle.
(08:01):
I'm learning to love it andjust embrace it in a different
aspect.
So to me now, hustling is it'snot about burning out.
So to me now, hustling is it'snot about burning out, because
that's what a lot of the I can'teven think of the word a lot of
what people think about whenthey think of hustling is
burning out and just doing toomuch right.
(08:21):
Embracing the hustle without theguilt is, you know, using your
time intentionally, especiallyas moms, and focusing on what
truly matters.
That's where having those SOPscomes in handy with your
business is you can get rightdown and start hustling, having
(08:41):
that set focus, that setintention, that time to actually
just get down and get it done, rather than feeling like you're
in a hamster wheel and you'rejust running in circles and
you're getting nowhere.
Like, do you feel like that?
I know I do all the time.
So having those SOPs in yourbusiness is very important.
(09:03):
So if you don't know what anSOP is, those are your standard
operating procedures for yourbusiness.
So that's maybe it's list oftools that you use and how each
program is used to fit into youroperations.
It's including detailed stepson how to use each tool for that
(09:26):
specific task within yourbusiness.
It's outlining your customerjourney, defining how you engage
with your clients at each stage, ensuring that consistency and
that quality of service.
There's, you know, daily, weekly routines, workspace,
organizations, even your mindsetpractices.
(09:47):
I know mindset for me is a hugething, so I'm constantly
including like part of my mySOPs.
You guys, is having a clearmind to start my day and start
my shift for my work, having aclean inbox, having a clean desk
, a glass of water and coffee, journaling with God to start my
(10:08):
day at work, prayer for my dayand my business and then I start
the rest of my SOPs.
Everybody's going to lookdifferent, but anyways, this
episode is not about SOPs.
If you want one like thatthere's everybody's going to
look different, but anyways, this episode is not about SOPs.
If you want one like that, letme know and I will happily do
one.
But back to what we were talkingabout.
So, like again, running abusiness as a mom is tough.
It is very tough, which is whywe need to really get down and
(10:33):
remember why it is that we'redoing what we're doing.
Because when you have thatintention and that focus and you
know that you can get it done, that mom guilt that creeps in
and reminds us that we're notworking hard enough, that we're
sacrificing too much of timewith our family, we're not
(10:55):
working smarter, we're workingtoo hard all of those things
that kind of slowly creep in aswe're actually starting to run
our businesses.
They get smaller and smallerand smaller, because we realize
that we're ditching thoseexcuses.
I don't have time.
Changes to how can I make timefor what matters?
(11:19):
Shifting your mindset andtranscribing that's not the word
I'm looking for and shifting itinto a positive framework is so
powerful.
You guys shift your mind fromthings like I don't have time to
(11:39):
how can I make time I'm I'm tooexhausted.
Well, how how can I shift myday to have more self-care?
How can I shift my day to go tobed earlier?
What needs to happen in orderfor me to go to bed and just
actually rest?
Like I don't know about you,but I recently just got
(12:01):
diagnosed with ADHD.
So, like before bed, I wouldalways just lay in bed and have
that endless to-do list justgoing, like now I get to go to
sleep and I just I go to my bedand I go to sleep and oh my
goodness, it is amazing.
But you can do the same thingwith your brains and how you're
going about your day.
You know the things are gettingdone.
(12:22):
You know that you're doing thebest of your abilities.
You know that you're doing whatyou can with what energy you
have left, with the fuel thatGod has given you through your
faith and trusting in him.
And remember that you knowbalancing hustle with that
spiritual alignment.
It's less exhausting and you'redoing more purposeful work.
(12:46):
So I want you to just rememberthat.
Step back and pray before youstart your shift.
It's so powerful.
Like I pray during theseepisodes.
I pray before the episode, Ipray after the episode.
I'm constantly on my hands andknees Well, not really, but I'm
constantly in prayer so that II'm always spiritually aligned
(13:08):
in what it is that I'm speakingabout, what it is I'm delivering
to you guys, and so that Godcan use me as a vessel to share
what it is that he wants me toshare with you.
I want you to know that everychallenge is it's a challenge,
but it's also a chance toproblem solve and build that
(13:30):
resilience.
I have been through so manythings in my motherhood journey
and I will say there is it'scalled seasons for a reason.
We all go through differentseasons.
So right now, it not?
I think I need more coffee, or,I guess, mom juice, as most
(13:52):
moms call it.
Apparently I love it.
Oh, let's.
Oh, my God, oh yeah, I do havecoffee right there.
Let's take a sip of thiswonderful coffee, which reminds
me I need to buy more creamer, anyways, but yeah, so when you
are going through that journeyand you are focusing on what
(14:13):
matters and you're being moreintentional with your time, and
you're giving on what mattersand you're being more
intentional with your time andyou're giving yourself that
grace, you're giving yourselfthat compassion, and you were
remembering that you are, youknow, being a mom and an
entrepreneur.
Those are both really powerfulthings.
They're very powerful things.
(14:35):
But you also need to remember tobalance the concept of what
hustle is with the need for rest.
God created the entire universein six days.
He spent the seventh day torest.
How much time do you think weneed to rest?
We're not God, we're not him.
(14:56):
We need to rest.
We're not God, we're not him.
How much time do you think weneed to rest as human beings?
So remember to balance yourhustle with rest and showing up
for yourself, showing up foryour family, and there is ways
that you can do it, where youcan take breaks and unplug and
make your time more effective.
When you get back to work, beingproductive and present in both
(15:20):
your motherhood and yourbusiness, you have to take care
of yourself, you guys, becauseif you're not taking care of
yourself and you're not steppingback, it's really, really hard.
It is really hard.
I have struggled with that themajority of my motherhood
journey as an entrepreneur.
I've taken breaks, I've takensteps back, I've prayed and God
(15:44):
just says it's not your timeright now.
Just be present, just show up,just be present.
If I could leave you withanything from this episode, if I
could leave you with anything, leave you with anything from
this episode.
If I could leave you withanything, it's that reminder
that God placed this desire onyour heart for a reason.
He is not going to fail you.
(16:04):
He is always there for youthrough every single season that
you are in, the season thatyou're in right now the
sleepless nights, theunpredictable schedule, the
frustrations of I just cleanedup and now there's a mess again
all the emotional demands ofmotherhood in general.
(16:26):
It is a season.
It will pass.
Just be present in every singleaspect of your life.
Be present and show up and justbe in the moment and everything
will work out in the way thatit is meant to work out.
We, as humans, we are constantly, constantly trying to put the
(16:49):
pieces of our life together andsometimes we're trying to
literally put a square.
What is it?
A pair?
How is that?
What is that quote?
It's like square into a circleor square, square in a circle.
I don't know.
I don't remember it is, buteither way, you're trying to
shove this thing somewhere thatit does not fit and God's going.
(17:10):
Just wait, I have the peace foryou.
You just need to be patient, you just need to trust me.
You just need to breathe.
You just need to breathe.
So your call to action for thisepisode is I just I want you to
(17:31):
be aware of your biggest excuseson why you're not successful
yet and I want you to write themdown.
And I want you to create anaction plan for how you can
overcome each and every excusethis week, whether it's waking
up earlier, whether it'sdelegating tasks, whether it's
(17:55):
meal planning so the rest ofyour day goes easier with your
life and your business and yourtoddler, or whatever age your
kids are, whether it's settingthat schedule and your time,
blocking or setting boundarieswith your family time, with your
business time, whether you'rebeing very firm and I'm only
(18:17):
working an hour a day, whateverit is.
Come up with an action plan onhow you can overcome every
single excuse that you justwrote down, because that's just
it.
They're just excuses, they'renot reasons.
It's not a reason why you can'tdo this and why you're not
successful yet.
It's just an excuse.
It is just an excuse, that'sall it is.
(18:41):
I'm no different than you.
I'm human.
God placed desire on my heartand I can be just as successful
as you.
You can be just as successfulas me, and I can be just as
successful as you.
You can be just as successfulas me.
And I had a mentor in my pastwho told me this quote and I
want to share it with youbecause it's really the reason
I've been so successful and havecontinued on my journey as
(19:03):
strong as I have, and it's ifshe can do it, why can't you?
Or why can't I?
If they can do it, why can'tyou?
Or why can't I?
If they can do it, why can't I?
Because we all start fromscratch.
We all start from the beginning.
We all have a plan, we all havea desire.
It's whether or not we choose topush through the challenges,
push through the mindset blocks, those limiting beliefs, those
(19:29):
barriers, those, those problems, whether we push through them
all and we learn through them,we grow through them and we
continue to persevere, becausegod will not give up on you.
God is always with you throughthis season and you can do this.
You absolutely can do this.
You may not feel like you cansee past this at the moment
(19:54):
because it's so tough, but Ipromise you, if you just take
that time to just step back andgo, you know what.
I can do it.
I can do this.
I believe in myself, I amcapable, I can do this.
God is with me.
I cannot fail.
(20:14):
How can we make this work, lord?
What do I need to do right nowin order to make this work, in
order for me to get a stepcloser to where you want me to
be?
What do you need from me?
Ask those hard questions, giveyourself that grace, give
yourself that compassion andjust trust that you can do this
(20:35):
and you are more capable thanyou truly believe you are.
I believe in you and I knowthat you can do this.
So with that I'll leave you.
God bless you and I will seeyou for the next episode.
You guys, bye.
