Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to your Diary episode. Here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm a bit of a nomad, so these episodes come
to you from wherever I'm living or traveling to at
the time, so I'll share with you what's going on
in my world, from book tours, animal encounters, delish meals,
nature adventures, health discoveries to swimming in hidden Byron Bay beaches.

(00:25):
Come with me as I share my adventures with you. Hello,
welcome to your La Diary.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Now.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I've got lots of stuff to update you on. I've
got spooky stuff to update you on. I've got an
audition to update you on, and I've just got like
day in.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
The life La vibes. So I am going to actually share.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I wrote a whole substack on this pers I know
I bang on about my substack.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
It's totally free.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
The handle of my substack is the same as my
instaff so yeah, my Rollerberry. Anyway, I do an actor
diary on the pod and it is literally like this
all happened in one day in La. So this happened
last week, not quite a week ago, because I recorded
the diary pod like a day before this all happened. Okay,

(01:15):
so we're gonna start with speakings. I basically got up
at six APPS. So first of all, you know I
work at the Yolks Udio. I worked really late that
night and an audition came in for the next day
at five pm in person in Beverly Hills. So my
agent messaged me and was like, please please respond to

(01:36):
the audition asap had him in an hour. I was like,
oh my god, Okay, So I responded and I was like, great,
I'll send a tape off. First thing, I was at
work because I didn't really look at the audition other
than I could see it was for a big car company,
and she goes, no, it's in person tomorrow, and I
was like, got it, I'll be there checked all this stuff.
I was like, great, I'll be there. So I have
this big shift at work. I get home, I don't know,

(01:58):
like eleven thirty nine, I go to bed. I set
my alarm for six am. I wanted to double check
and fact check one thing about one of the locations
I was taking David the Medium. So David the Medium
and I have done this is our third LA true
crime podcast together, and basically the premise is I take
him around to all these locations. I tell him nothing

(02:19):
and I just see what he picks up on. But
there was one specific location, the Beverly Center, that I
just needed to quickly fact check, and I'm so glad
I did because some of the information was essentially wrong
and I had to re prep that part of the interview.
And then I high tailed it at like seven thirty
in the morning down to West Hollywood where David was staying.

(02:40):
I picked him up and then we got going on
our adventure. As soon as he got in the car,
I was like, all right, we're going to head to
Los Phelis, then we're going downtown, and then we're going
Culver City and then Beverly Hills, and I kind of
explained the four locations of these kind of different true
crime slash haunted, slash spooky spots in LA and he
just looked at me and go, as, we're going to

(03:00):
the Cecil Hotel, aren't we?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
And I go, oh, my goodness, why, and he was like,
I just saw it in my head.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So it was by far the spookiest place that we
went to in downtown LA. I'm going to share you
with you a little bit of this. I don't want
to give the whole episode away because it's it. Provided
we can get all edited and done, it's going to
come out on Monday. I just wanted to speed this
episode up and bringing it out because it's so fascinating
and it was really spooky and creepy. So we went

(03:27):
to the four locations. First of all, the one in
Las Phelers was the alleged place where the black Dahlia
murder happened, I believe in the forties. Then the second
location was the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It's
about two blocks from skid Row. The third location was
the Beverly Center, and the fourth location was the Culvert Studios,

(03:50):
which is like where they film gone with the wind
Raging Ball and I think Wizard of Oz radio. So
I picked up super ely in the morning. He's like,
I know we're going in a Cecil Hotel. I've just
seen it, and I was like, great. So anyway, we
do the Black Dahlia one. It all goes really well.
We record behind the alleyway and he picks up on
all this stuff. Amazing, amazing, amazing. We get in the

(04:12):
car and we head to downtown LA We pull up
there is randomly one car park out the front of
the Cecil Hotel.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
We pull up.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Now David is pretty like, let's go in kind of vibes,
and I'm like, absolutely not. This is not a scenario
where we can go into the hotel. Because of the
area that we were in. I saw four drug deals
go down. This was about eleven thirty or noon by
this stage midday. If I say midday to an American,
they don't know what I'm saying. By the way, I

(04:46):
have to say noon.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Fun fact.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Anyway, so we're sitting down, we see drug deals go
down on one side of us.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
On the other side of us, we see kind of
like a couple.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Of unhoused peace get shuffled off by security. Because there's
a lot of security around this hotel. It's no longer
a hotel. It is called like it's a I believe
it's called a health center where they take on unheals
people or transient people and give them a roof over
their head for I don't know how long, right, So

(05:20):
it's you can feel there's a lot of security, a
lot of like going in and going out. Then as
we're about to record, so we got the mics out
we're about to record. Someone to our left starts lights
up a crack pipe and starts smoking, and I was like, David,
there's no way we're getting out of this car right now.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
So we record.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
We're recording, recording, and David's like feeling sick while this
is going on, because obviously the energy. Just to give
you a bit of a background of the Cecil Hotel,
you can deep dive this on Reddit, on TikTok, probably
on Insta as well.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
The history of this place.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I believe it was built in like nineteen twenty four
and I think over thirty deaths have occurred in this place.
Like it's really creepy, really scary, really dark energy, and
there was quite a recent ish death in twenty thirteen.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Where a body was found in the water tank on
the roof. We talk about it all in the pod.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I show David footage because there's a lot of footage
about this hotel on TikTok as well. So that happened
and David's like, all right after we recorded fifteen minutes,
He's like, we got to get out of here.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
We got to it, and I was like, great, got it, and.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
He was like, you know, we as we kind of
like we drove through skid row to get out, and
as we got onto this freeway called the Harbor Freeway,
which kind of essentially takes you back west, he was like, oh,
I feel better now, I feel better, and I go great,
good sign.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
So then we go ahead.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
We recorded the Beverly Center, which also felt really eerie,
but not dark like that, right, and then we end
at like old Hollywood Haunted Story at the Colvi Studios.
You know, we record the whole day. We have lunch
at Air One because you know, Holly Grail, and then
we get back in the car. I'm going to drop
David back at his hotel high Tail at home, prep

(07:05):
for my audition, get changed for my audition because I
had to be dressed in hipster black and literally I
had to be a hipster food critic and then run
to the audition. That was my plan, and then come
home and like just take a load off that night. Anyway,
So we get in the car, everything's recorded, we record

(07:26):
the outro, We've recorded all these different locations, and the
car just won't start. It makes that like that kind
of sound like the battery won't clickover, and I'm like,
holy shit, at this stage, I have two and a
half hours until my audition, and David was amazing. He
was like, get an uber now sort out the car
stuff after the audition, so uber home seventy bucks.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
I uber home, get.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Like shower, reset my energy, get changed for the audition.
Go over my beats, my actions to the audition. Uber
into the audition, Get there nice and early, not stressed.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Do the audition.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
So much fun was in this cool casting studio. There
were nine other auditions going on at the same time,
which was really cool to see. And you just walk
in and there's like a blackboard of all the different
auditions going on. Some were callbacks, some were auditions. Really
cool anyway, So I went in did it. They got
me to audition with the two other females, so we
like stood in a line together audition together. Fun fact,

(08:20):
one other person was called Lola, so it was literally
like Lola, Marie Lola, like when we were slating and stuff.
Slating just means you say your name and look to camera.
And then I thank goodness for my friend Juja who
helped with the car. So he helped put another battery
in and then I just had to drive to like

(08:41):
an auto bun kind of place and essentially buy a
new battery. The battery was dead. It was a nine
year old battery. Get a new battery. Get home. I
think I had no food in the house, so I
drived to Traded Joe's. I get there at like quarter
to eight, get some salmon and veggies. Picked up the mochi,
which is like, for anyone that knows one of my
favorite Americas sweet treats, it's like a ice cream covered

(09:03):
in like rice stow put it back down. Was mango
flavor two Strawberry is my favorite, but I was dyeing
off the mango. Put it back down. I'm like, no, law,
You're just doing this because you're exhausted and it's been
a big day. Run home, make this baked veggies and salmon.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
And flip and go to bed. That was my day
in LA.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
That is like quintessential La living for sure, like for
sure anyway.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
So I just had to.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Give you the update on that that that's happened in
this in this wonderful week in Los Angeles, I've also
been working heaps at the Yoak strew And studio and
done to teacher trainings online via the studio as well,
so I'm now accredited in hot power fusion in twenty
six and two. Still got to do my auditions because
in America, I don't know if it's an American thing,

(09:53):
but in LA you've got an audition to become a
yoga teacher and sometimes do callbacks and second and third
auditions to very much like being an actor. I guess
it makes sense. So many yoga teachers or actors out here.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
So there you go. There is my like whirlwind of La.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Also, the Bossachenko came back first thing Sunday morning, so
much fun.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
I was such a nerd. I made him a sign.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
I figured out what terminal he was getting into, and
I had the sign when you flow into Lax from Australia,
you kind of walk up this ramp when you come
out of customs and get your suitcase and whatnot. And
I remembered it because obviously I've flown in quite a lot,
and I had a poster like hanging over the side
of the ramp and then I was waving at him.

(10:40):
But I also tricked him, so I was like, oh,
I can't find a park, which was true, it was
really hard to find park, but I did get one
in the end, just text me when you're coming out
with your suitcase and I'll drive in. And so he
thought he was not going to see me until I
was going to drive in, but I surprised him and
I had the poster waiting, and I surprised him and
it was fun. It was so nice. It's so nice

(11:01):
to have him back, Like even little things like I
feel a little bit anxious at the moment, just because
my time has split so heavily with like work and
getting everything done. And I love the pod so much.
I'm filming a really exciting pod here in La tomorrow
and it's just so much fun. But that's essentially like
podcasting is a full time job and it's my baby

(11:22):
and I love it so flipping much. But I also
work here to pay rent, and it's just like finding
that balance is really tricking, and I can make me
a little bit overwhelmed, and I can feel a little
bit anxious sometimes, and so like even yes, they boss,
like had my lunch ready to go before I went
to work, and so I quickly eat this, and then
he prepped my dinner to have at work, and so
it just like took a load of stress off if

(11:47):
I'm being really honest, and like even just coming home
really late at night, but knowing that the bosses here
feels so safe to me. And I even said this
to Boss, like I just sleep better when he's here,
Like he's like such a flippant, incredible teammate and just
cares so much, because sometimes LA can feel like you're

(12:07):
in a like a washing machine a little bit, and
you're getting like tossed around and you know a meeting
will get booked and then it won't happen, or you'll
get told one thing and something else up. And like
there's a lot of that kind of energy in LA,
and so like having this like safe space and grounded
energy that is the Boss Okay, Matt, And it feels

(12:29):
really really really nice.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
So it's so nice to having back.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
I'm definitely going to do a pod with him soon
about like coming back to LA and Da Da Da da,
So that all happens soon. But you've got David the
Medium coming out on Monday. You had Jenny Valentish the
Monday that's just gone. I've actually just been cutting her
audiogram right now, right before I hit record on this,

(12:52):
and that'll be up on my Insta soon enough, and
so she's really cool. She talks about introverts and she's
written a whole book about it that's just come out
in Australia and New Zealand. It's so good and she's
a really like smart, sweet, humble human. So I hope
you like that episode. We recorded that in Melbourne a

(13:13):
couple of months ago. And yeah, You've got so many
fun apps coming up. You've got David on Monday, Bossacheno
or the one I'm filming tomorrow with the showrunners from
the pilot, which is really exciting. I get nervous on
an interview to people at once, so so I'm a
little I've been prepping it all morning. I'm a little
nervous only because I like, I'm really mindful of like

(13:40):
not cutting people off and stuff, and so when it's
two people, it's harder to read that, if that makes sense.
But it's going to be so much fun and they're
so hilarious, so I'm sure there's gonna be lots of laughter.
And I've recorded a film pod studio for this. I'm sorry,
I've hired a film.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Pod studio for this. So I'm really excited, all.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Right, As always as I've been these last few weeks,
I have been pulling oracle cards for you. So if
you knew or you haven't listened to this app, basically
the way it rolls is I do a shuffle and
then I pull three cards past Present, Future, and then
we look at the bottom of the deck and the
top of the deck.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
So you can probably hear me lean back shuffling.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Also bust and I'm watching Conclave at the moment and
it's really good, loving it, like we literally as soon
as I get home, he's like, come on.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Putting Conclave on Conclave past. I've just pulled present future, Rooney.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Okay, pulled them past music for manifesting to manifest rapidly
think of your desire while you chant, hum, sing or
playing music. I am so into that, especially playing music.
And we just got tickets to Mumfort and Sounds at
the Hollywood Bowl. I'm so excited, cannot wait, Like I'm

(14:57):
gonna cry. Let yourself receive this for your present, allow
others to give you loving care, receive without guilt or apologies.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
It's like boss making me food and fun stuff.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Okay, future, so future can be like an hour from now,
So you can decide to hear this and then like,
take this as your affirmation for the day or weekend
or whenever you listen to this dream big, let go
of small thoughts about yourself, see yourself succeeding. Top of
the deck, explore your options. It's time to look at
other possibilities. It's a good time to make change. And

(15:31):
then bottom of the deck, pay attention notice repetitious signs
in your inner guidance, as it can yield valuable information.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Great.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
One other thing I forgot to mention, but I am
about to jet to a YOGS class.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
I'll give it to you nice and speedy.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
But I had a therapy session with my beautiful therapist,
and oh golly, it was so nice. He said, it's
so important to stay true to who you are and
why you're here, and you need to explore and express
relentless honesty, which is my whole jam. And we talk

(16:11):
a lot about knowing when to draw the fucket line
in the sand, and he said, at some point you've
got to low people between the eyes with their fucking bullshit.
He was just essentially saying, stand up for yourself, know
your boundaries. And then he said, consciousness of freedom and
understanding what freedom really is. And he said, don't be

(16:32):
afraid of the consequences of living free. Oh he's so good,
and he said, he said, Lully, you are educated at
a level of consciousness. Oh, Chef's kiss. He's amazing. He's amazing.
And then just to end it on this final thing
that he taught me that I want you to take away,
don't lose sight of who you are ever. Don't lose

(16:57):
sight of who you are ever. Oh how good is that?
Write that down? Don't lose sight of who you are ever?
Ridio Gangles. That's me Megalove from Los Angeles And I
can't wait to check in with you next week. And yeah,
if you're enter true crime, David the Medium, that's going
to be Monday's EP. It is such I'm going to

(17:18):
say it's our best one yet. I'm going to say
it's our best one. Yeah all Righthoru Mega love, go
do the shit you love.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Bye.
