Fred Lynch, longtime E. A. Laney High School men’s varsity basketball coach and former coach of superstar HOF’er, Michael Jordan, joins Glenn on the Field for an exclusive sit down on the next episode of the Field Goals Spotlight. Lynch whose now Athletic Director for Laney, opens up about his 27-year tenure as the varsity basketball coach for the Buccaneer program, becoming a 6x conference champion, and how he helped make Laney basketball a respected and widely known sports program across the state of NC. Fred reflects about coaching multiple super teams between the 80’s and 90’s, what it was like to win over 500 games in his career, and being inducted into both the Laney HS and NC Athletic Director's HOF. Fred also reflects on what it was like to be a part of the coaching staff during the Michael Jordan era and debunks the myth about MJ being cut from the varsity team as a sophomore.
