Katie (00:00):
in this Get Pregnant now.
Quickie episode.
We're going to talk about howholding it in is holding you
back from your big fat positive.
Welcome to the finally GetPregnant Naturally Podcast.
The podcast helping women identifythe real reasons you haven't
conceived or stayed pregnant, soyou and your partner can finally

(00:20):
grow the family of your dreams.
I'm your host, Dr.
Katie Wood.
Let's dive in, shall we?
In today's episode, you'll learn how not having a daily bowel movement can
sabotage hormone balance and fertilitywhile estrogen clearance through the gut
is critical for conception and simpleways to get your digestive system working

(00:43):
in your favor for reproductive health.
So here's the deal.
That nobody really wantsto talk about, right?
Your body eliminates excesshormones, especially estrogen through
the liver and digestive tract.
And when stool moves slowly or you'reconstipated, or your bowel movements are

(01:08):
not complete, hormones can get reabsorbedinstead of being cleared from the body.
And this can lead to estrogen dominance.
Irregular cycles, PMS or heavy periods, and of course, difficulty conceiving.
So even skipping a day or two ofbowel movements occasionally can

(01:30):
interfere with hormone balance, butchronic irregularity is definitely
going to become a fertility roadblock.
So why does this happen?
If you have low fiber intake, ifyou're not drinking enough water.
Stress can slow down digestion ifyou have a sedentary lifestyle or

(01:54):
if you have any gut imbalances.
So how can we support regularelimination for fertility?
Number one, we can eat enough fiber.
So you wanna aim for a mix of solubleand insoluble fiber from fruits,
vegetables, legumes, and whole grains.
Number two, we wanna makesure that you're staying.

(02:15):
Hydrated.
So water is essential forsoft, easy to pass stool.
Herbal teas like ginger, peppermint, orfennel can gently stimulate digestion.
And I like to say you can aim forabout half your body weight in ounces
of water per day, or until your urineis looking pale yellow to clear.

(02:42):
Number three, you wanna move your body.
So this could look like daily walking, gentle yoga or stretching encourages
the natural movement of your intestines.
Now, just as a side note here, I know manypeople have desk jobs, or maybe they drive
in their car all day, or maybe you workfrom home and you're sitting at a desk

(03:05):
you can set a reminder on your phone togo off about every hour, and you can.
Take a walk around your office, maybepull over to stretch your legs and
take a little walk, or even doinga couple minute workout at home.
And that's gonna help get things moving.
Number four, support your gut microbiome.

(03:26):
So including fermented foods like Keefer.
Sauerkraut and kimchi can helpmaintain healthy bacteria that can
assist hormone metabolism, and ofcourse, consider a fertility focused
probiotic if irregularity persists.
Always checking with yourdoctor first, of course.
And number five, establish a routineeating meals at a consistent time

(03:51):
and honoring the natural urge to go.
If you feel the urge to go.
You do not want to deny that, okay?
You wanna do your absolute bestto find a bathroom so you can.
Eliminate.
Okay.
Because even small habits like morninghydration, a gentle stretch after
breakfast can make all the difference.

(04:13):
Number six, if you have gutsymptoms, get a gut microbiome test.
So symptoms like constipation,diarrhea, bloating.
Gas, you want to do further investigationand address any potential dysbiosis,
candida, or other infection orimbalance that could be present.

(04:35):
So let's recap today's fertility saboteur.
Skipping daily bowel movementscan block estrogen clearance,
and disrupt your hormone balance.
Irregular elimination can contribute tocycles that are harder to regulate and
may affect your ability to conceive.
You wanna support your digestion withfiber, hydration movement, gut-friendly

(04:59):
foods, and establishing a routine.
Remember, fertility isn't justabout supplements and lab tests.
Sometimes the simplest daily habitslike supporting regular elimination
can make a huge impact on yourhormone health and fertility success.
I just wanna thank youso much for listening.

(05:20):
I hope you have a fantastic day,and I'll see you on our next episode
released every Tuesday and Thursday.
