99.25% of respondents for the Fat in Healthcare report said they’d experienced bias in healthcare as a result of their body size. If that’s not a f*cked fact, I don’t know what is.
For anyone living in a larger body, it’s not a surprise to hear that many fat people have experienced discrimination at the doctors or in another healthcare setting. Whether that’s having your issues dismissed and completely attributed to your size, or being told to ‘eat healthier’ at every single appointment (without being asked what you do eat!) - the impact can be damaging. Vinny Welsby created the ‘Fat in Healthcare’ report, and the findings broke my heart.
