Today we are beginning our new sermon series on the Book of Jonah. This is one of the most famous books in the entire bible. Not least because of the famous story of the “Great Fish” that swallows Jonah. Jonah is the story of a reluctant prophet. A prophet that rather runs from God rather than runs to God. Written in a satirical style, Jonah is a book of reversals. It is a Book that shows that God is not always who we think He is. He is Much Better and that is Good News for Us. Our hope and prayer is that God would use the Book of Jonah as a sign that points to the Good News of the Hope we have in the Life, Death, Burial, Resurrection, and Return of Jesus.
