S05E16: Biblical Principles of Sustainable Usage of Plants and Animals
Series: The Church and the Environment
Host: Rev. Dr. Charles Zuta
The Natural World embodies God's message to humanity. So, when Jesus used the Lilly of the fields and the Sparrows in the air to illustrate God's benevolence and provisions, Jesus was using nature to reveal the invisible attributes of God. Nature therefore speaks and glorifies God. But what if the Sparrows and fields of Lilly  were extinct at the time? Unfortunately, because humanity has accelerated the extinction of uncountable number of species of plants and animals over the ages, we are losing species before we ever get the opportunity to hear and understand the divine messages they embody and how they may benefit the well-being of humanity, which is not what God intended. In the Bible, God has laid out principles of sustainable utilization of plants and animals which are still relevant to modern man. I discuss some of these principles and the wisdom of God behind them.
