Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well tonight hot tomato we Gaily and Emily j twenty
minutes to eight in the morning. Showers about today and
tops of eighteen degrees expected for Narrainge.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Has Cabareta the footage of the shark attack on a
sixteen year old boy. I will never pretty full on.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
I'm there again.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
The shark came right in to shore where some people,
some heroes were helping him out of the water, and
the shark was stalking in behind them still, so I
think they all thought they were out of danger. It
was up to their knees and the shark was almost
beached itself, obviously a little bit thirsty for some more blood.
There an arm and leg injury and critical condition in

(00:39):
the University hospital here on the Gold Coast. It's pretty
full on now. Cabareta has had a few shark attacks
in that area. There's one back in twenty twenty one,
but I actually looked up, you know, shark attacks in
that area. Byron Bay is the one that's had several
attacks in that area. They say that's maybe one one

(01:00):
of the most dangerous strips for shark attacks. I know
South Australia, West Australia have their attacks. But they're talking
about that all the New South Wales is sharky in
the area where yeah it is sharky. Now the other
thing is nets and drum lines and that sort of
thing there aren't. It's not the same as here in Queensland.
So that's something we could talk about. But I'd love

(01:21):
to ask if you were down at Cabareta or you're
from that way and you know you've heard of what's happened,
or you know any of the people that actually helped.
One of them is a paramedic luckily, yeah, because they
need a duty paramedic.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
You need to torn all the wombs. Yeah, probably save
that kid's.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Life, absolutely and fingers crossed. Obviously serious conditions. So fingers crossed.
The young person's going to be okay. But give us
a call here at Hot Tomato if you from down
that way. The other thing you can call us about
is do you think that there should be nets and
more drum lines in that area, because that's where we
seem to be getting a few attacks. So let us

(01:59):
know what you think about the drum lines and the
nets for Cabareta and even down to Byron.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Let's stop your swimming even.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Well, that's I don't know about the nets or whatever,
because I know it's a contentious issue. I know that
I just don't swim there very often. My parents are
at Bernora. They're always like, let's go to Kingscliff and
have a swim, and it's just the loveliest beach and
the surf clubs all beautiful, and I'm like, you have
fun with that. I'm gonna sit on the beach and
keep my eye out. Thanks.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, that's just me.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I don't feel safe swimming without nets. No, I appreciate
them here on the coast.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, and swinging between the flags do that sharks still
can get in behind? They don't, they don't.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
They respect the flags, right Tomato double five nine still
got one hundred bucks up for grabs to spend at
the Star Gold Coast where you can feel the origin
energy live and loud at the sports bar Reservey Table
for Game three, the decider for the best seats in town.
