He is a voice actor, musicianand co-creator and co-producer
of the Fun and Games podcast Andmember of Choir Fly.
Is that pronounced that correct?
Speaker 4 (01:16):
You did pronounce
that correctly, yes.
Like oh good acapella groups.
It is a pun.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
And this one is a
nerdy acapella group.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
And no, that's not
just nerds.
Because of acapella We singnerd themed acapella Choir.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Fly.
I love it.
Well, welcome, Jeff, to theshow.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Thank you so much.
Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, i was joking
off air because we had Matt on
about two weeks ago And theysaid you should reach out to
Jeff and have him on the show.
And I said to you I said I'msorry you can play Matt for you
being here, because, yeah, i'msorry.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
And I said no worries
, Apologizing is mutual.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Well, Jeff, tell us
about yourself All right.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Well then, you
described a lot of what I do
very well in the header there.
Yeah, i am an actor, a voiceactor, nothing so glamorous as
being like you can hear me inthese games or this, whatever I
do a lot of the.
I don't need fame, i just needto work.
So I do a lot of like telephonemessages and explainer videos
(02:24):
and things like that.
So you know, you call the rightlaw firm in New Jersey and
it'll be me in a low sample rate, apologizing for the wait.
Thank you so much for callingkind of thing And all that fun
stuff.
Not that I don't want to doanimation and video games, it's
(02:44):
just that's the work that I get.
And I also just started workingon a rehearsal start next week
for an immersive theaterproduction.
That's probably closer toworking in video games than
voice acting for me, wow.
But, yeah, it is a productioncalled Future Proof.
I've been with them since 2017.
This is our first productionback since well, since early
(03:06):
2020.
And it's a production that thechoices made by the audience and
the audience gets to makechoices throughout affects the
storyline moving from event toevent.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
That's cool.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
I'm very proud of it.
The tentpole productions thatwe used to do were choose your
own adventure film screenings, where the production team would
make these intentionally badmovies And you go to the show,
you go into a theater screeningand you would go onto the Wi-Fi
or our network on your phone andperiodically, through the movie
, you could vote to change themovie.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Do you want to turn
this?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
you could vote.
Do you want to make this actionmovie puppets or a shower scene
?
It's puppets, they're allpuppets.
If it's a shower scene, they'rein the same costumes,
delivering the same dialogue, but they're in a high school
locker room.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Oh, my goodness.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
And these things add
up and there's a whole weird
meta fiction to it all.
And I played for the longesttime the Android spokesperson
for the film distributioncompany, so the so Future Proof
actually came out with a visualnovel in early 2021, i believe
there was no voice acting in it,but I do make it a physical
appearance as one of thecharacters.
(04:18):
Wow, very silly thing.
And so there's a lot of.
We've had game designers andwriters and all sorts of folks
like that that are involved inthe writing of this so that
people can get the mechanisms ofwho you talk to and what you
solve, and it's almost a littlebit of an escape room kind of
feel, along with the bigger Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
That's cool.
So like is there a lot of like, like kind of ad-lib along with
that, Or?
Speaker 4 (04:44):
like thinking about
it completely.
Yeah, yeah, very much so.
You have your character, youhave what's going on, but you
need to be able to deliver whatthe, whatever the narrative is,
or the deep lore that thisuniverse absolutely has.
It did when I first joined it,when it started, and it's only
gotten deeper, but they've alsogotten a lot better about
delivering it in small and funways And so, yeah, you've got to
(05:06):
be able to do that.
You have certain things to fallback on.
It is a little bit of it's notwhen one says improv.
It's not like a who's line, isit anyway, kind of thing.
But it is very much a thinkingon your fee.
Immersive theater It's notaudience in the seats and people
up on stage.
It's a lot of interactions,conversations that happen.
You are playing an NPC in it ina point, in clicking more or
(05:28):
less.
Wow, that's so cool.
It's a lot of fun and it is abit.
It's definitely one of thosekinds of challenges that, before
getting ready and gearing upand reading out for the next
steps that we're doing, the showbusiness realm that I was like
oh man, this is going to beexhausting, I don't know what
I'm doing, but you get back toit and it's oh right, no, no, it
(05:51):
is a weird thinking on yourfeet and it's a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Yeah, but that's
really cool.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Oh, thank you.
No, I'm very excited to getback to it.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Yeah, I used to do
community theater and we did
Clue the Musical and I like oh,it's not a good musical.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
It's not a good
musical, I know but the thing is
the impulse to adapt.
Clue to the stage is there area few things more honest and
pure in this world.
Whether or not you do a goodjob of it.
Who can say?
many people can say and willsay but the impulse is so good.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, yeah, but what
was cool about that was that the
killer was different everynight.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Oh nice.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
And because they
would draw cards in the
beginning of the game.
So we had like or being at theplay and we had big cards of the
weapons and the rooms and thesuspects, right.
So then, as you're watching themusical you're supposed to like
, try to figure out who did it.
And really the only thing thatchanged was at the end.
If your character got drawn asthe killer, like, you had to
(06:59):
give a different line.
You had to actually have amonologue around why you did it.
Blah, blah, blah, and everypractice, every practice we did,
we never had.
I was Professor Plum and wenever had me as the killer.
Yeah, yeah.
And then, of course, openingnight.
I get selected and I'm like, oh, i don't know the lines And I,
at the intermission, i'mlearning my lines.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Oh, that's all.
That is so real.
So those film screenings thatwe would do one of the big dumb
action movie that we made, thatone, the we have all of these
also have a stage in front of itbecause there's live aspects.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
There's actors.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
they're playing the
ushers in the theater And that
one we had, as you would votefor segments of a director Q&A
where most film screenings wouldwait till after the movie to
show you that.
But we hear it.
Lux don't think that'simmediate enough.
So you'd vote throughout and Iwould come out on stage and we
would do these things.
And, oh, absolute, every singleone of those had two different
(07:59):
versions, with some slightvariations here and there
depending upon previous votes.
And so, oh yeah, there wasdefinitely one of those like the
fifth or sixth of seven choices.
I rehearsed one of those scenesto the teeth, to the nine, to
the syllables.
The other one we ran it once andit's just like so Jeff you got
(08:20):
this.
Please make the other one soundmore enticing to people.
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
That's right, that's
always the one that you never
practice.
You're like come on, are youkidding me Really?
And you know what.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
By the time someone
voted for it.
I'd learned the scene and wehad a chance to rehearse it.
But that was one of the youknow how it is Like you run
those rehearsals there's alwaysa scene that's kind of a.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
We'll fix it in post
of live performance Yes, yes,
agreed, agreed, oh my goodness.
And especially in communitytheater, right?
Like I mean I don't know, likethey don't right, it's like I'm
not getting paid for this, sowhatever.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
No absolutely.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Even in professional
theater, half the time we're not
getting paid for this.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
But we believe in it.
Don't you believe in theproduction?
I haven't done that in a whileand I won't name names, but it's
, you get all kinds.
But on the more video game sideof things you had my
co-producer on here before Matt.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Storm.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
And.
I am not on nearly as manypodcasts as Matt.
I am only on the Fun and Gamespodcast on the certain POV
network.
If you weren't listeners, ifyou weren't here for the episode
with Matt Storm, Fun and Gamespodcast is a video games podcast
sort of, about the media, medium and culture of video
gaming.
We've had interviews with allkinds of great creators within
(09:38):
the video game industry and afew outside of it as well, that
have wonderful viewpoints ondifferent series of games,
different tropes and conceptsand the evolution of our
personal experience with gamesand gaming, Because none of us
can play every single video gamethat's out there.
That wasn't true when we werekids and it's even more true
nowadays, But why should weshame anybody for not having
(10:02):
played your favorite game yet?
We should bring an optimisticview to games.
Talk about the games we love.
We don't need to spend hoursbashing games that don't please
us, don't make us happy.
Share the things we love, Andthat's also where our side show,
side quest came from, where wehave a different host every
episode spending five to 15minutes talking about a game
they love.
Why they love it, whether it'san empirically good game and
(10:24):
here's why or it reminds me of aspecial time in my life, or was
it saved me at some point, something like that.
We've gotten all of thosestories and so much more And
they're frankly fantastic.
And I will say I've joked and Imean it.
Side quest is Matt.
I contributed 7% to side quests.
I composed the music.
(10:46):
It's better than 5%, So I meanthere you go.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
No, absolutely, i
composed the intro music.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
I recorded the
opening there.
I sometimes handle a little bitof back and forth, But, and
more than anything, I think thatlast 2% is when Matt first had
the idea.
he called me and just was isthis a dumb idea?
Is this a bad idea?
Is all that kind of talkingyour friend down the ledge?
That was all they needed.
They just needed to be assuredthat this is going to be great,
(11:13):
and look where it's gone.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
It's incredible.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
And.
I'm overjoyed that I even hadthat much of a contribution to
this great thing that I share, with which I share a feed, yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah, no, i love your
podcast.
The last episode I listened towas the FOMO one And I loved
that.
I mean, like it's what you guyswere talking about, like you
know the like when a game comesout and it's like you feel like
you have to be the first oneplaying that, and it was.
It's such a good, it's just sosuch an honest conversation
(11:46):
between both of you.
I just love that about yourpodcast.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Thank you very much.
That's that's, honestly, moreor less our goal.
We definitely make an honestplay at being games journalists
And I mean that honest and playBut more than anything, we want
to just share our own personalexperiences and discoveries
throughout our lives as gamersand hope that resonates with
(12:12):
people And that, yeah, you getthat same feeling where it's
like why do I need thisimmediately, or who am I going
to be sharing this experiencewith?
I mean that one, the for FOMOand gaming.
We came to the conclusion whereyou can get to a game late, but
if you, so long as you've gotsome other people with whom to
share it it feels incredible.
Yeah, i've been playing a lotnowadays.
I have over lockdown and nowinto just regular ish nowadays
(12:37):
life.
I started doing a weekly gamingwith old college friends of
mine.
We've all scattered and westarted because we're excited
about Baldur's Gate 3.
And as soon as it comes outwe're going for it.
Yeah, in the meantime, we'vejust been finding other
multiplayer storytelling or RPGgames.
That's how I finally playedthrough Divinity, Original Sin 2
.
We played Wildermouth.
(12:58):
Right now, Every other weekwe're doing either Gloom Haven
or Diablo 4.
And there's an older game and anewer game on that And it's and
I love the Diablo series, but Ithink it's so much the better
because I'm getting to share itwith those people.
And that's the FOMO that Ireally go for.
It's the people I share it with.
not Look, I did buy FinalFantasy 16 the day it came out.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
I installed all of
the data.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
I haven't played it
yet.
I've been busy.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
We don't know what
that's like, and I feel like the
other side of this.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
No, I don't know what
this is like at all.
We also bought Tears of theKingdom first day.
But the reason I haven't played?
that is a very good one Andit's because my spouse is
currently playing it And I amnot taking that away from her.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, yeah.
That's funny because, like Mikehas, mike, you have a lot of
games on your, on your that youbuy And I say, have you played
this game yet?
And usually it's nope, it'swaiting to be played, right.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
I can attest to this.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
The backlog is
storied, insurmountable and very
real.
Yes, Yes, yeah, and I'm verymuch a physical game collector.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
So between my spouse.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
So between Sarah, my
spouse and I, we're both very
avid gamers, very avidcollectors.
We have, at this point, over1400 physical video games in our
New York City apartment.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Oh my gosh In New.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
York City apartment.
Well, we're both huge nerds andvery early she and I have been
together for about 13 years atthis point And early on in our
relationship it was kind of alook If we are left unhinged and
untethered, we will collecteverything and we will have no
room.
Decisions must be made and wechose video games.
I regret nothing.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Wow, How do you have
room for that?
I mean, I don't know.
I the way Midwesterners viewNew York City is probably like
you have, like I don't know, like 600 square foot apartment,
850.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'm sorry, i'm sorry
850.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
We have two doors,
one for the bathroom and one for
the bedroom.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Luxury.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Where do you find
room for all that?
So I built custom shelves alongone wall of my living room.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I think it was before
we started recording
aforementioned vague handyskills picked over, picked up
over the years.
Don't trust me to do likerenovations or be part of a crew
, but I could build somestraight shelves and measure
them out so that, all right, these ones are going to hold the
Sega CD games, and only theseones, because, god, those things
(15:32):
are tall and fragile.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Do you have a
complete collection of any
system, or is that a plan ofyours to do that?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
If you don't, that's
not necessarily a plan.
I don't, okay, no, it's a greatquestion And for some, when you
Well, at whatever point, whereyou go, like, alright, i don't
just have a lot of video games,i am a video game collector you
do have to answer thosequestions for yourself.
Is there a system, a series, afranchise, a developer, whatever
(16:01):
it is, that I want to complete?
and, by and large, sarah and Iare Sort of no, absolutely not,
there's.
So I mean certainly for game, for a console's complete library
.
There's so many games We don'twant to play.
Yeah, we and much like what funand games is?
I bring that same attitude tomy collecting.
(16:23):
There's games that I getbecause they're important,
because I feel I will play themeventually, or I want them to be
available to me and availableto lend out to others, because
we also do lend out our games toFriends of ours in the
neighborhood, or we go visitsomebody Oh no, you need that.
Here you go like we're donewith this.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Very brave of you.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
It's listen.
if they're the really expensivegames, i track them no like a
chipper, anything but just a.
I Maintain a Google spreadsheetwhere there's that certain
amount of like.
So you've had Eternal darknessfor Two years, four months and
three days.
How's the battle againstZelotath?
(17:07):
going yeah, yeah, right, right, kind of thing It's.
It's ever been that bad, butthere's some of that and there's
some of what are the games thatI grew up with, that Sarah grew
up with, that we're gettingback, or Because I in college
sold about 95% of my video gamecollection.
I was getting it that I wasyoung, dumb, needed the money
and thought that it was theadult thing to do.
(17:28):
Yeah, so it's meant for a lotof fun of like getting to go
around, and eternal darkness isactually one of those games that
I sold for My old collectionthat I regretted terribly.
That in the past few years madeits way back then it's getting.
That joy is incredible.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, i
get that because I mean I was
the same way.
I sold all myself and now mywife.
Oh no need all these systems.
I mean, since I'm an adult now, well, no, i'm keeping these
systems like well, why?
why do you need to have aPlayStation 2?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
because I do Right
because is a DVD player, because
it plays ps1 and ps2 games, because it was the greatest
selling, the highest sellingsystem ever.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah, I'm a part of
history?
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Is that the?
is that the system?
Melodrama side is that thesystem that you like most are
collecting for right now, orthat you're most like?
I need to get these games forme, yeah yeah, no, i'm not.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
I wouldn't say like
I'm a collector, like I don't
collect games, i just have.
I just, you know, when I have asystem, i just don't want to
sell it anymore because I don'twant just to go.
Now I got like five.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
That's real for it
right.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
So like real so it
just sits there.
It sits and I mean in you know,in truth, be told, like it does
collect dust, not always likethere's some systems.
I'm like now I have three kids,so I'm like, hey, you can like
learn about, you know, thesegames and you can play them on
the systems And they're like.
It was funny when I took to mydaughter who's who's, who just
turned 12, i took her to a MarioKart tournament Yeah, and I'm
(18:59):
old, by the way, and and I tookher to a Mario Kart tournament
and it was just the funniestthing, heard her friend, you got
to play in all the differentsystems and one of us and 64 and
they said, oh god, thesegraphics are terrible.
I'm say, hey, whoa, whoa whoa, whoa, whoa Terrible.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I will accept dated.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
I will accept
smearing.
Yeah, it's funny, right, butit's funny and it's it is.
I know it's so like, so like.
For me It's it's more of likeyou know, and also I'm just like
well, maybe I'll play this gameat some time and and then it
sits in, you know whatever.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Oh, absolutely Well,
and I mean to the idea of having
kids and stuff.
I don't have any kids And somany of my friends from from the
old country of New Jersey thatAre having kids My apartment has
become the farm upstate forthem to leave their systems And
(19:58):
and like look if, if they needthe money for it, if they want
me to sell it, i will go throughthe trouble of selling it and
take a small cut and they getthe money.
But this is also why I now havea 32 X in my life And I don't
regret it.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
It's delightful Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
I got to have the
very fun thing where Sarah was a
Nintendo kid growing up in somany ways, and so there's a lot
of fun series and things were.
You know, i never feel like I'mgonna use the horrible term, i
never feel like I'm married to afake gamer girl or anything
like that, but we all have ourOh.
I know the series and know thisone, but I can't know all of
(20:35):
them.
Hmm you know she didn't knowFinal Fantasy.
She thought she didn't likeRPGs growing up and now We're
excited to play FF 16 togetherCool, But she didn't play Sonic
games.
And so we had the Sega CD andwe just got in the 32 X.
She played Sonic CD for thefirst time.
She grew up on Mario.
This Sonic CD is easily themost Mario paste Sonic
(20:56):
platformer.
She loved it.
She she never repeats games.
She played it twice.
Wow, get the best ending we putin Yeah yeah, it was so cool We
put in Chaotix.
I don't think I've ever seenher this angry at a video game
in my life.
It's like you know Sonic CDYeah, the opposite of that
Randomized levels, weird physicspuzzles like stop.
(21:18):
it starts being oh, she waslike Angry, angry, it was
incredible.
Wow you know I gotta keep the32 X around.
It's funny.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
No, i appreciate that
because, like I'm, i also like.
So Sonic is not part of myhistory either.
I was, i grew up Nintendo, yeah, and then switch to a
PlayStation when I was incollege.
So, yeah, i never really gotinto Sega games.
So like, yeah, i, i Pick up.
I mean, i think I'm probablythe same way that my kids are
with with Sonic.
I'm like yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Man, it's okay, Like
you know you don't have that
history where you're like no, no, no, let me find you Yeah let
me be your like gaming.
Some all yay your C-Saron, yourguide.
Let me show you the best onefor you.
Yes, yes, nope.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Mario games.
On the other hand, i'm like, yeah, you got to play this game.
And they're like, why I'd withplay the first one?
Speaker 4 (22:07):
because I told you
you have to, because this is
your best start, right, oh yeahyeah, amongst those friends with
whom I grew up with actuallythe one who had the 32 X they
have a four-year-old who, forthe last year and a half at
least, has been obsessed withNintendo, and the Mario in
particular.
Hmm and it has been the mostheartwarming thing to watch
(22:30):
because, yes, absolutely.
He plays Super Mario Odyssey, and watching a at the time
three-year-old beat Bowser thefinal Bowser was like terrifying
.
Is this what it like?
What it looks like when, whenhumanity replaced what came
before?
Yeah, like we homo superior hasarrived.
Yeah, right, right, and, and.
(22:52):
But because it's the switch andall of their games are digital.
Mario All-Stars is just as newas Mario Odyssey.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
Hmm.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
It's just as new as
all the Smash Brothers, and so
it's a flat circle for him.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Hmm.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
And so he actually
has Appreciation.
I don't know if he loves all ofthem, but I've definitely seen
him be like you know At with afour-year-old's attention span.
You know, mario Odyssey, marioOdyssey, i'm done, mario maker,
mario maker, mario maker.
Yeah so the kids are all rightthere and I think digital gaming
Everything I said aboutcollecting physical and all the
(23:27):
rants that I have in the chamberThat is a wonderful thing that
digital gaming gives us.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, agreed, yeah,
so I in the choir fly.
What is what is?
can talk a little bit aboutthat.
What is what is absolutely?
Speaker 4 (23:44):
choir fly is, as I
sort of alluded to earlier on, a
nerd themed acapella group.
We have been Around in someform or another since around
2012.
I was not in the group then.
I joined later, and I don'tthink there's any original
members left at this point.
Hmm but you know, 2012 is theright time to be making a
firefly reference in choosingyour.
(24:06):
Your punny acapella name, andso we do.
Yet We do covers of likenerdier artists like Jonathan
Colton, and they might be giantsand weird Al we do Nerdy covers
of other songs on.
my favorite ones to sing atconventions is a cover of Billy
Joel That's called the longestline Nice, you know one of those
(24:32):
and also just Covers of nerdymusic in general.
I'm really proud of ourarrangement of Good Riddance
from Hades or Yeah, things likethat, stuff from work.
We've been working forever, andby we I mean to me because I
this is an arrangement that Itook unto myself because I do a
lot of the arranging for thegroup now Covering a lot of
(24:53):
music from Steven Universe andRebecca sugar in particular.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Hmm.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Just called the sugar
suite hmm, these, these sorts
of things, and So, yeah, it usedto be a much larger group.
Now There's just five of us.
We might go to six, i don'tknow.
We're kind of in a little bitof a transition stage, but we
usually sing at conventions, inplaces.
We mostly are New York Citybase, but it's something I
really enjoy.
And Yeah, you know I haven'ttalked much about being a
(25:19):
musician and that's where I'mbeing a musician at the moment.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Cool, That's very
cool.
Thank you Well.
welcome to the show.
I'm happy to have you on theshow.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Yeah, thank you for
having me.
Thank you for allowing me tostamp and ramble stamp about.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
About myself there
for so long.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Let's talk games.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Yeah, before we get
into the topic, i do want to say

and to Jill Grote They aremembers of our patreon and you
two can join the patreon as well.

So check that out.
Talk about games, then, and sothe topic I wanted to talk about
this week, the topic I wantedto talk about this week, wow was
so it's mid-year and I wantedto get everybody's thoughts
around.
What is your game of the year sofar like?
has it come out?
Do you think this is the gameof the year already?
(26:20):
It's a stamp.
This is what I'm, this is whatI like.
So what's gonna happen?
This is the game of the year,or do you think, hey, you know
what, it hasn't come out yet,but it's still coming out.
So, jeff, i'll start with you, since we're our guest.
Do you have a game of the yearso far?
Speaker 4 (26:34):
I have a Current game
of the year that I won't
necessarily say is locked in,but okay, because there's some
great stuff coming out that I'manticipating.
But my current one is hi-firush.
Oh nice, it was a game thatcame out of nowhere And one of
those where and I feel Matt willsay very similarly a game where
no less than four peopleMessaged me directly, some of
(26:56):
whom I haven't spoken to inforever, and went hey, jeff,
jeff, jeff, do you hear abouthi-fi rush?
It's like it's this animated 3dplatformer.
That's a rhythm game.
You fight to music and there'slicensed music in there and
Robbie Damon voices the main guy.
The voice cast is incredibleand it's a.
It's like a cartoon, but it'sthe musical cartoon.
Is the whole playing musicvideo?
Jeff, have you played hi-firush yet?
and Yeah, yeah, i.
(27:19):
It's all those things and morenice and but also see if stars
is coming out.
This year again My kick startedthat I'm absolutely So excited
for, i'm excited about straygods to be coming out.
You know there, there There'sdefinitely things were.
I don't often talk about howmuch like music and video games
is a big deal but it's a bigdeal for me and My spouse and I
(27:44):
did not court through dancedance revolution, but it helped.
You know, there's absolutelygames that are coming out.
I'm I very quickly have becomevery interested in Eternites.
Hmm, i'm a big persona fan.
I don't do a ton of like datingsims and visual novels, but not
because I just like them forany reason.
(28:05):
Yeah the level of Delight thatthey're having with the medium.
That's something I also reallylove in games when video games
have a lot of fun with Beingvideo games.
They don't necessarily have tocall out the medium or anything,
but you have fun with playerexpectations.
We've all been playing videogames.
I feel safe, presuming thateveryone on this call has been
(28:28):
gaming for at least 25 years.
Yeah pretty pretty yeah yeah, for sure, i that's low balling.
I've definitely been gaming forover 30 years, but I like to be
.
I like to be kind here and Youdevelop expectations, and so
things that play with that are alot of fun.
Things that tell stories thatOnly video games can tell, and
(28:50):
those ones that are just likewe're gonna switch up the genre
because that's the best way totell this story.
Absolutely, i'm into that.
So those are definitely thoseones, but I would say my current
also, because I haven't playedpizza tower yet.
So my current game of the year,of what I've played, is
high-fire rush.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Okay, nice Well,
thanks, mike.
what about you?
I'll go to you next.
What is your?
do you have a game of the yearalready?
Do you like one that's lockedin, or do you think there's a
game that's coming out That'sgonna take your game of the year
?
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I don't know, mario
RPGs now got me really.
Yeah that's true, yeah, yeah, but I man, it was tough for me
to decide because there's somany good stuff that's not
already, but for me it wasbetween two, two games, and my
runner-up Is gonna be dredge.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Because that was so
much fun.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
I love the story.
I loved just.
It was just had me captivatedLove.
It was just so much fun.
It was creepy, but then it wasalso fun and I don't know.
There's so much more they cando with the like I said, with
the characters and everything so, but I'm gonna say my, my game
of the year so far is definitely, without a doubt, resident evil
4 remake.
Oh Nice and you know, is youknow someone who loved the
(30:03):
original, just this one, is justJust loving every bit of it and
it's just just a ton of fun.
Now I can say that because I amsaying that, because I I
haven't played Dead Space.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
So I can't say much
about that.
I'm only about I don't knowabout 14 hours into tears of the
kingdom.
So I barely scratched thesurface.
But I don't know.
I just, to me so far residentevil 4 just loving every, every
bit of that.
So That's what I'm gonna say.
This is my first six months.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Okay, i came here,
very cool.
What about you, phil?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Dredge is definitely
in the conversation.
For myself as well Is weird asit is to say, and now I don't
remember the name of the gamethat I was recently playing to
you.
That was that indie game That'skind of got that limbo slash,
that limbo feel to it.
What the hell's the name ofthat game?
Why am I drawing a blank on it?
Speaker 1 (31:03):
Do you know who
produced?
Speaker 2 (31:04):
it now.
You know, i don't know thatkind of stuff, man.
Now we just held like an idiotI was waiting for you to say
it's also got like a water thing.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
So it could be like
oh, it's Dave the diver which
came out yesterday and I'm veryexcited to play, but I can't
like two months now.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
It's.
Lana planet, planet of Lana, planet of Lana, okay.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I got there
eventually.
That also makes my shortlist.
But as of right now, justbecause I'm super striking.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
While the iron is hot
, i am head over heels in love
with the oblo and I'm not sureI'm ever gonna quit playing it.
Oh yeah, so fun.
I have not seen the planet ofLana.
I've not seen this yet.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
This looks beautiful.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah, it's absolutely
gorgeous, and the animation is
spot on the soundtrack is anabsolute work of art, for lack
of a better term It is.
It is well worth theplaythrough Fantastic that's
going on the wish list and it'son game pass.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
It's on game.
Is it still on game pass Ithink so yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Game pass is one of
the few Game services I'm not on
right now.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
I I fell off one of
the games.
Oh I I fell off hard on Xboxfor a while.
I'm a PlayStation ecosystem andthen PC.
I just kind of stumble aboutlike a damn fool.
I understand the shortcomings Iam attaining and achieving in
my life.
I feel that makes memultifaceted, not a failure,
(32:20):
thank you?
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Hmm, we just judged
you pretty hard there, but
that's okay, that's totally fine.
I've had worse.
I will say like for me, i wasnot an Xbox guy until this new.
Until then this new generationcame out, and because of game
pass like game pass.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Oh, yeah, yeah, so no
game has been great, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
so I you know I got a
serious ask, because that's my
game pass machine.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
So And that's the
thing.
Like you, you bring Yourmachine to these things, you
bring your ecosystem to yourstuff.
You know, maybe I'll, i'll,i'll subscribe to game pass at
some point, but I'm also realbad at that thing of you know,
as long as a backlog as I havethat sort of oh, that's really
cool, i should subscribe to that.
Yeah, three years later, ishould subscribe.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Game pass just adds
on to that backlog as well,
because you'll find yourselfthrowing an hour and a half two
hours into a game and being likeI really like this game.
Then the next day you wake upand you start playing with
something else because you justwant to check it out.
And two and a half three hoursinto it and I really like this
game.
I'm gonna come back to it.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Yeah and repeat god,
yeah.
And starting to get Cover gameconventions and getting codes to
indie games.
I love indie games so much AndI wish I could have 20 hours a
day with which to give each oneof them.
But Yeah, no, that's real.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
I did ask the
community as well.
So uh, jill Grote said in ourDiscord I have a real problem.
I have at least 20 thingsmarked for my top 10 and five
for my top three.
The end of the year is going tobe an impossible challenge.
I don't know For myself I wouldsay like, uh boy, right now it's
(34:06):
between Tears of the Kingdomand Diablo four.
So those are two games that Ididn't think I was gonna like.
Diablo, i mean, i like Diablo,I'd like three.
you know, and I played Diablowhen I was a kid.
when I was a kid, i mean when Iwas in high school and early
college.
But you know, diablo fourreally is a lot of fun And Phil
(34:28):
and I got to play the othernight together and I streamed it
.
It was just, it was just fun.
you know, it was fun that I'mlower than him.
He's like what are you 42?
Speaker 2 (34:37):
or something like
that I think I'm 47 today.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Oh okay, Nice Yeah.
So I'm like level 18.
But yet it was still fun forboth of us to play together
through my missions.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
I'm sure it was.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
I said you could join
us.
I said you could join us.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
You said, you said,
but you didn't mean.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
No, i come on, you do
own the game.
You own the game.
I know, i know You have.
You pay for half of it.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
So it's in my backlog
.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
He played for the mic
, paid for the unplayed half.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
That's true, that is
true, that is true, yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
I mean definitely the
price of Diablo four.
You know I can afford somegames now these days.
That's a nice thing of agingfor me in my life, but there's a
definite I felt like an old manyelling at a cloud of what do
they want for a digital versionof this game?
69.99.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Jesus.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
But if you really
break it down, depending on how
much time you spend with it,that's going to be a lot less
than a dollar an hour.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Oh, i completely
understand.
I believe when I was discussingthis with my regular gaming
group.
You know it's oh, are we makingsingle player?
Oh, should we only be playingmultiplayer?
Whatever, i'm like it's Diablo.
If I don't have six charactersby the end of the first month, i
am losing my touch.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
I make my natural man
, sir.
That's it.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I'm not losing my
touch.
Oh, I have one or twocharacters that are actually
making any progress, but they'rethere.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
But they're there.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Listen, it was that
kind of thing of you know one of
my friends who was much more ontop of the previews of what's
there And it's like okay, there's necromancers Yeah, do
they have corpse explosion?
Yes, and I'm getting this game, yeah, yeah, this is.
There's so many other thingsAnd I will actually the way I've
sort of been explaining Diablofor people, for Diablo four is
kind of Diablo four is the fifthedition to Diablo threes fourth
(36:39):
edition D&D where, for thelisten, i played fourth edition
D&D.
I did not dislike it, i did nothate it, and it in fact got
several friends of mine who arenow avid TTRPG players.
Fourth edition was theirgateway.
It was important.
We don't need to keep doing it,though, and three five was
(37:00):
wonderful and was what got meinto it.
It's too fiddly for anyone'sgood, and so fifth edition does
a real nice job of getting story.
It lets you fiddle around, butit kind of puts some bumpers and
blinders on there, and I thinkDiablo four does a great job of
that, with customization, skillchoices, builds and working
(37:20):
around what you find.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, yeah.
I mean so many dumb builds inDiablo two, That's a good way of
putting it, though I do thinklike it does feel like the fifth
edition of D&D, for sure It's aGoldilocks approach.
Yeah, yeah.
So, I don't know.
I mean, like you know, there'sa couple games that are coming
up this year Like I don't know.
(37:43):
What do you guys think about, like if, like Marvel, spider-man
two and and the other oneStarfield, i don't know, what do
you guys think of that?
Speaker 2 (37:54):
I think Starfield
could easily join the
conversation.
Unfortunately, with the lack ofa PS5, I'm not going to be
seeing Spider-Man two anytimesoon.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah, me too Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
Well, did they
convert that for this year?
I thought that was really nextyear.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I thought it was.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Oh, maybe this
October.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
It's October this
year.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
For now.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
I'll be Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
No, for now
Everything.
Look, I am perfectly fine withthe game getting delayed.
Yeah, me too I will.
I've definitely bristledprivately, but privately on a
very public and a very cosmicscale.
I'm absolutely of that mind of.
(38:37):
A delayed game is goodEventually, a bad game is bad
forever.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Except for No Man's
Sky, apparently.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Yeah Well, it came
out too soon And despite where
it is now, everyone knows inquotes, it's a terrible game.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yep, exactly, it's
the taste that's still in
people's mouths about it.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
It's bad forever, no
matter how many patches and DLCs
you drop on it.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Yeah, And I find like
Starfield to be interesting
because, like I watched it, Imean what I just kept thinking?
I'm like I mean, isn't thiskind of what No Man's Sky does
in some ways?
I mean I know there's morestory behind Starfield, but I
don't know.
I just it's going to be hardfor them not to be compared to
(39:21):
No Man's Sky.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
Which could be to
their advantage.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
It could be, it could
be their advantage, right, yeah
, yeah, i don't know.
I think I think the one thingthat they don't have, that I
mean No Man's Sky.
I thought was really funny whenthey were like, yeah, you can
see your friends and explore theuniverse and run into them and
see their plans.
So they're, they're naming, butyou might not see them.
Well, yeah, because it wasn'treally online, right, it wasn't
(39:47):
really multiplayer at first.
No it is, but Starfield willnever be multiplayer Right?
No, i don't think so, yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Unless they do
Starfield on mine, until they
really start to Airtime fallout.
76.
Yep.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Yeah, exactly,
exactly.
So I don't know.
I mean I actually don't think.
I mean I'm excited forStarfield.
I think it looks cool.
I'm hopeful that it it, youknow, wows everybody.
It is like we talked about thislast week, like probably be
launched with a couple of bugswhich we, you know, this, this
par for the course.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Bethesda Yeah,
exactly, it's Bethesda, and it's
an open world, ambitious game.
Yeah, each of those would havesome day one bucks.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Yeah, yeah for sure.
Like I mean you're reaching, yeah, exactly, But I'm in the
same boat too with I mean we'retalking about delaying games.
I'm in the same boat because Iworked in it not in game dev,
but in app dev and crunch sucks.
It sucks a lot, so I hated itso much.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
So and it's.
and as far as the consumersconcerned, there's no timeline,
it all just happened.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Yeah, And you could
be told oh, it took five years
to develop.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Oh, you couldn't get
this right in five years.
We actually had about 18 hoursto work on that one problem.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Right, thanks, yeah,
we didn't know it was there.
Speaker 4 (41:08):
Until you know it was
there, right, there's all of
those issues And you know theload of bearing coconuts to be
colloquial about it And what'swhat's found in the meantime.
And I mean Starfield isdefinitely one of those where I
definitely say it's not my jambut to be fair, it's never been
my sandwich.
That's sort of like open spaceexploration.
(41:30):
There's small corners of thatthat appeal to me, but I also I
don't typically talk a lot aboutgames that I hate, but I grew
up with an with an NES titlecalled Star Voyager.
That was the most unguidedexplore around space, boring as
(41:50):
hell game.
I, i, i detest it And I'llprobably buy it at some point if
I find it for $5 or fewer, because far enough for a joke.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:04):
I bought deadly
towers for $8.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
That was exactly what
I wanted to spend on it.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
Star Voyager can show
up in my life, but I could.
It's that like this isrevolting.
More, please, yeah but, i,don't need to spend the $70 on
Starfield to have that kind ofthing.
But I also know plenty of folkswho are super excited about it,
and they should be.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
And so I guess we'll.
We'll find out, you know, asthis time goes on, we'll find
out what else comes out here, and maybe our, maybe our answers
will change.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
Jeff will have you
back on at the end of the show.
We can do a big, big tablediscussion around the end of the
year, absolutely So.
that'd be fun.
Let's move into games.
we're playing then And Jeffagain since you are a guest,
I'll start with you.
What games are you playing Allright?
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Well, I've been
recording a lot of podcasts this
week, which I normally don'tknow, and yesterday I was on
Tales from the Backlog talkingabout Metroid 2, which I don't
know if you know, had severalreiterations.
Hmm, there was Samus Returns onthe 3DS, as well as the very
(43:29):
public fan game AM2R, anotherMetroid 2 remake, and we
discussed all of them.
So I've for the last month beenoff and on playing all three of
those.
Wow, did you play the Game.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Boy 1, 2?
.
Speaker 4 (43:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, it also is on NintendoSwitch Online, So I have the
physical version, but I feltlike I would more consistently
be bringing the switch on subwayrides for myself and I was
right and So, yeah, i playedthrough it there.
I played Samus returns, it, allof that, and so right now I do
have a little bit of.
I scramble to the finish lineTuesday night and There's a bit
(44:08):
of well, what now I guess I playmore Metroidvanias.
I haven't played haiku therobot yet.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Let's play the robot.
Yeah, might as well that game.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
It is a good game.
Speaker 4 (44:19):
Yeah, I heard great
things.
I think I watch the speed runof it.
Not that long ago It was socool and absolutely when I know
I definitely saw speed run of itbecause that's where I first
heard of the game.
And Then, a few weeks later, humble bundle did their
Metroidvania bundle and it wason there.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
Oh cool.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Yeah, it was.
It was that it was blasphemous,it was bloodstained.
Ritual of the night hollownight It was.
It was a hip parade.
Yeah and I haven't played all ofthose, so I may use that as a
guidepost right now, nice.
But but I'm also, you know, asmentioned my spouse and I.
Well, i said that she hadn'treally played Final Fantasy or
(44:57):
many RPGs growing up, and so weusually have some JRPG, some
turn-based RPG or something likeit that we regularly play
together in lieu of havingNetflix binges, yeah, and so we
finished Yakuza like a dragon afew weeks ago, Nice, and yeah,
no, that was incredible.
That was my first time playingthrough it.
(45:19):
I that I'm a believer, matt'sbeen trying to get me to play
Yakuza forever.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
And he talked about
that a lot when he was on the
show.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
So oh, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah.
And so telling them, like myprogress and like a dragon, has
been that like uh-huh, uh-huh.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
And I'm gonna play
Yakuza zero next, matt God.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Yes, but I'm not
playing Yakuza zero right now.
What the RPG we're playing ispersona for golden.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Oh nice.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
Yeah, we played
through persona five royal and
strikers together Absolutelyloved it.
It was her first persona game.
I'd played three and then Iplayed four and I'm getting to
read this is the first time I'mreplaying a persona game and so
She's adjusting to thedifference of 2010 verse 2017
game mechanics.
Yeah, i mean, we played FinalFantasy 5 earlier this year.
(46:08):
It's not that she won't go oldschool.
It was old school within asystem, within a franchise, kind
of thing.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
Yeah, so, but we are
Early on, but enjoying it and
yeah, that's doing that Gettingback into Hades.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
Yeah, he's is good.
And what is the second?
the second one's coming outnext year, right I?
Speaker 4 (46:30):
think.
I think so.
I think so, yeah, no, hey, hades came up a bunch recently
and I'm like I gotta play thatagain.
But as far as new stuff, yeah, like I said before, i picked up
Final Fantasy 16 and hopefullyin the next week or so I mean,
we're coming up on 4th of Julyweekend The stars will align and
I'll get to play.
I'll get to play more than whatthe demo showed me.
I love the demo More than justFOMO getting me buying the game,
(46:56):
but hopefully that's soon.
How do?
Speaker 1 (46:59):
you, how do you play?
Because this, this is thestruggle that I have.
like how do you play an RPGThat's a single player together,
like do you just take turns andthe controller off to each
other?
Do you just like side car thewhole time and like, yes, tell
her things like go over there.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
Go check that over
there.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
Yes, sarah is one who
likes to Complete a game as
much as makes sense for her.
Hmm, where she will?
She'll, within a reason, she'll, hundred percent.
A game We played through, finalFantasy 10, and we got all.
We got everybody's celestialweapon, we got all of the hidden
You know aons and all that.
But when one of the trophieswas maxed out everybody's fear
(47:39):
grid, she went we're done.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Hmm.
Speaker 4 (47:42):
We're good, hmm, and
so a lot of the games.
Yeah, i sort of I am, i'mOracle, i'm the one sitting
there either with guidebooks orwith previous knowledge of the
game or whatever else.
It's the kind of thing up,figure it out, figure it out.
What am I doing, jeff, you aregoing for this and doing these
things cool, and We have a lotof fun with it.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
Cool, that's cool.
Yeah, my wife and I will playgames like overcooked together,
but she wants to get like allthe stars before we move on to
the next world, right?
She's like no, no, i'm like ohno, you don't play games like I
do.
You have to complete everything, and I'm not a completionist.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
Oh yeah, yeah, we do
two player games in this.
Other times We play through.
It takes two and I'm lookingfor secrets everywhere.
Yeah we had a great time.
It's there just going, is it?
this isn't that kind of game, jeff, and I'm sitting there
going like I know It's a JohnMulaney joke.
I see what I'm doing and I alsodon't want to be here.
I Have to.
(48:40):
What if I'm eventually right?
Sarah, i Never was oh, that'sfunny.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Uh, cool.
Well, that's very cool.
Um, mike, what are you playingright now?
Speaker 3 (48:54):
So right now, let's
see I got back in the fall, guys
.
Nice, Yeah, yeah the lowercraft Skin great.
Yeah, our craft.
And then there was also acheeseburger skin, so that was,
let me get into that.
I had some spare, whateverdollar things they call them,
show bucks or something.
(49:15):
Yeah, I'm like, oh, why the hecknot?
So I got back into that a lotof new levels and stuff.
So you know it's the same as italways was and I'm enjoying it.
Play, like I said earlier, puta lot more time into tears of
the kingdom.
Yeah, I made the mistake oftrying to fight one of those
dragons.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
I saw them and I ran.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, that wasn't fun, but I you
know also spending some moretime underground, so that's
pretty interesting.
Uh, learning a lot of coolstuff.
So again it's you know it'smore Legend of Zelda.
That's, if you played Breath ofWild, you know what to expect.
It's a fun game.
And then I'm gonna be totallyhonest with here and I'm hoping
(49:59):
nobody laughs.
But I mean that means Rogerwill laugh.
But I downloaded the TheSpongeBob DLC for power wash
simulator.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
Oh, why would I laugh
at?
Speaker 4 (50:09):
that Why would I
laugh at that, because that's
not your gamer.
Speaker 3 (50:14):
Yeah, I Hate it.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
What are you powers
washing and what are you power
wash underwater?
Speaker 3 (50:25):
Yeah, well, you know
it's power wash.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
SpongeBob, they got
fire watching power if campfires
on SpongeBob.
Speaker 4 (50:32):
So you can't really.
It's true, yeah.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
No, i'm.
So.
Here's what's so aggravatingabout it is that I'm doing the
first level, which is basicallythe street That they live on, so
I'm cleaning SpongeBob's house,patrick's house and Squidward's
house.
I Am at 99% can't.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Why not last month of
dirt?
Speaker 3 (50:52):
There is a smudge of
dirt on Squidward's house above
his eye and The Easter Islandhead.
Above the eye but below theunibrow and.
You could put it, you could puta ladder there and no matter
where you go, you cannot get theright angle to to just to
successfully clean it.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
Hmm.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
And I think it's a
bug.
I think it's stopping me fromgoing to any additional levels.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Oh, that's brutal.
Yeah, it's horrid.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
That's almost as
though I'm to the ground and
then have to end your gamebecause you can't move.
Speaker 4 (51:30):
So Yeah, and he kind
of soft-locking is that.
I love when things you're wrongin a game, but soft-locking is
always frustrating.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
I'll get out like
it's such a small little area
and Then it.
But if you get too close, yourpower washer like it folds in,
like.
So it's like your guy saying, nope, i don't have enough room
to spray what so?
Which sucks too, because thisyou could tell that there was a
lot of a lot of fun, a lot oflove put into this, because
(51:59):
There's there's minor referencesto certain episodes.
I've seen at least like four orfive references to episodes on
this, just this one level alone, hmm, and it's pretty cool, you
know.
But What was once a veryrelaxing game is now very
frustrating and anger-inducing.
Speaker 4 (52:19):
Yep, this is.
This is what I meant by likehundred percenting within reason
, except this is so much worse, yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Well, I mean it's
appropriate that it's on his
house, though on I'm Squidward'shouse, though, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (52:31):
Yeah, i think your
Patrick's house, because it's so
dumb messing a spot SpongeBob.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
That was really good,
jeff.
Anything else, mike?
Speaker 3 (52:47):
No, that's all I've
been playing.
Okay, you know you can downloadDiablo 4, though you know that
right, yeah, yeah, and you candownload out of this world, out
of this world and Resident Eviland all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
That's true, i could.
So.
so Jeff, mike and I.
So Xbox you can share likeaccounts one account with with a
friend or family.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
So every game I buy
Mike has access to and every
game that Mike buys I haveaccess to.
So nice.
Yeah.
So you know, i buy the nice fungames and he buys the scary ass
games And he's like you gottaplay this game and I'm like no,
that's not gonna happen.
So wait, do you have?
you have resony before on Xbox?
Speaker 3 (53:35):
Well, they're just
the physical copy.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Oh yeah.
There's other games that I gotthat outlast and I'm playing
that game.
Yeah, we tried that once.
Thanks, mike.
What about you, phil?
what have you been playingDiablo?
(53:58):
Yeah, that was fun the othernight We got a man.
That was fun, it was good time, but seriously, that's all that
I play these days.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
I barely barely even
touching the show.
It's just Diablo, diablo,diablo.
I got back into a couple ofgames of Overwatch two nights
ago and I actually played once anight too, but Matchmaking is
so fucking broken in that gamethat it just makes it super
frustrating.
They've kind of had it up alittle bit, so it's not as bad,
but it's still gnarly, and so Ijust keep playing Diablo, where
it doesn't matter who myopponents are, because they're
all from hell.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
I love it.
What's what?
what?
uh, you said you have twocharacters that were like going
somewhere.
What?
what are your main thing rightnow?
idea before.
I only have my one character, and he's just you know I should
say She's a necromancer and Ising things like hold me closer,
necromancer, and I do think I'mkind of looking tired I mean,
look, to be fair, my, thecharacter that I made
(54:50):
specifically for my gaming group, as I am making, i made a war
cry barbarian, oh cool.
Because it's the closest I getto playing a bard, which I love
doing in games, and I've namedhim Explosivo nice.
And so all this to say, rock on.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
That's fun for myself
.
Again, a lot of Diablo.
I also made a necromancer, sothat was really fun.
We had like a huge army ofskeletons that were just you
know, love it.
Yeah, we're like.
We're like, you know, just fearwalking and I don't know why
anybody would want to take us on, but So that's fun.
I like that.
(55:33):
I've been playing more tears ofthe kingdom as well, and then
the other game that I've beenplaying that I'm reviewing is
the book thief, book Walker.
Keep calm, book thief, the bookWalker, thief of tales.
So have anyone heard of thisgame?
It's on game passes.
Anyone heard of this game?
No, this is new to me.
Book Walker, texas Ranger.
Speaker 4 (55:54):
Yes, walker, thief of
tales Yes.
Speaker 1 (55:57):
So you are a author
in this world where authors Like
can or like basicallycontracted for like eternity To
work for publishers and likethis, this your character, and
it is running through like major, like writer's block and you
can't get out of it.
And I don't know if it'ssomething like Like maybe your
(56:24):
last book didn't do so well, butnow you have to find a
publisher and you're likebasically in writer's health for
the next 25 years and Likethat's what the police, like the
police will like call you andlike Check up on you.
It's all like first person inthat perspective, like in this
real world.
Well, i say real world, butit's like in this like imaginary
real world.
Yeah, this looks very stylish.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah and thenand then.
So then the other option, though, is that you get you a shadow
(56:48):
organization, reaches out to youand says Hey, like we can get
you out of your Shackles if youwill, if you work for us and
jump into books and steal thingsfrom the books.
So, you, the first book youjump into, you're supposed to
steal a portion of immortality.
And when that happens, we jumpin a book.
(57:13):
It's all like an isometricperspective, and you Walk around
and get the like, solve littlelike puzzles, and there's some
RPG elements to you, have to dosome crafting and some fighting
as well, and you are not acharacter in the book, but all
the other characters in the bookdon't.
They don't realize that they'renot real, right, they just
think that they are real.
But then, when you run intocharacters from the book, they
(57:36):
kind of freak out because youlook weird, because you don't,
because you, because you're not,you're not a character, you're
just like some thief in this, inthis book.
So it's really cool.
And then, and then there's alot of like different, like
Forking moments where, like, youcan do this or you can do this,
and like, obviously, dependingon your, your decision is going
to drive, like what, what theoutcome is going to be.
So I really like it There's.
(57:59):
The only thing I will like todo is to do this.
I'm playing with an Xbox, i'mplaying with the controller and
there's a lot of times where mycharacter will walk up to
something and it will like Iwanted to highlight whatever
like he's supposed to interactwith.
But I have to be really preciseand if I'm off just a little
bit, like, it won't connect andthen I have to like move my
character, try to connect, like, try to walk in front of like an
(58:20):
item to pick it up.
You know, it feels like thatwouldn't be a problem on PC when
it's like point and click, butwith the, the, the sticks, the
control sticks, like it, it justdoesn't play as well.
It's, it's super minor, but Canyou plug a mouse in?
I don't know, i didn't try onthe Xbox, i don't know.
(58:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
Huh, i don't know, i
don't know I don't know, i don't
know.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
Huh, i think it's
well.
It's on Game Pass.
I don't know if it's onUltimate Game Pass though, too,
unlike PC, it might be so.
But yeah, i'm enjoying it.
It's.
It's an interesting, it'ssomething.
I've never played anything likethis before, so it's a really
cool concept and, yeah, plentyof opportunities to play through
again.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
Yeah, i'm looking at
the Steam page for it right now.
I'm getting almost like a mixof HD Mist meets Planescape,
torment vibes.
Speaker 1 (59:19):
Yeah yeah, yeah,
that's a good description.
Speaker 4 (59:24):
Yeah, i'm into that.
Alright, and it's currentlypart of a bundle with Final
Station on sale and cool.
Yeah Yeah, book Walker isn't onsale on Steam, but Final
Station is on so much sale thatif you get it in a bundle, it's
essentially like getting it forfree.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
Yeah, i mean now that
you say like it's Mist, it is
very Mist, like it feels verylike inspired by Mist, now that
you say that.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
So Anything where
it's like you can enter the
world in books.
I'm like yeah.
I hate how sold I am on this.
Yeah, yeah and now watchingthis and hearing you describe it
like this looks like a.
Yeah, this looks like one ofthose games where there's
definitely going to be someweird spots.
I'm going to get frustrated, but I'm ultimately going to be
so much more excited that thisjust exists.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Yeah, yeah it's cool
and it's on Game.
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
Pass too.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
I know you don't have
that chef, but it is on.
Speaker 4 (01:00:15):
Game Pass?
No, but many other people doand they should know that.
And if they have Game Pass, getit.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:00:21):
Don't spend money
like I am.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yeah well it's funny
about Starfield too, because
that's also coming to Game Pass.
When you said it's $70, i'mlike, yeah, not for me, but you
don't know those games that makeyou go.
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
Look, there were when
this also speaks to my age and
my retro rose colored glasses.
When PlayStation Plus did thewhole extra deluxe electric
Boogaloo, purple monkeydishwasher, everything else
There was, you know.
Oh, and you'll get monthly PSclassics from PS1 and PSP.
Okay, now that's kind of cool.
(01:00:58):
I do.
Playstation 1 is probably myfavorite home console.
What's in the first round ofgames?
that intelligent cube, damn it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Yeah, intelligent
cube, that game is not good.
I love that game.
It's not good.
It's not good.
Speaker 4 (01:01:17):
I love it those are
two different things, but also.
I got Returnal and Sekiro forfree when.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
I subscribed to that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
And actually also
Death Stranding Director's Cut,
which I'm a huge Metal Gearsolid fan, where I think
honestly to go back to anearlier question, if there's any
franchise I collected for it's.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Metal Gear.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Most of my PSP
collection are all the Metal
Gear titles, so Death Strandingis its own weird wander off.
But hey, if I'm getting as partof a package, i'll check it out
eventually.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
What would you say
your favorite Metal Gear is, if
I can ask, Snake Eater.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
I have great love and
appreciation for so many of the
other ones, but if I have topick one, snake Eater, snake
Eater was three.
Snake Eater was three.
Yeah, the one that they'reremaking right now, metal Gear
Solid, delta I think three isprobably my favorite as well.
It's such a cool,self-contained story.
It was one of the first times Ibecame aware of boss fights.
That left me holding my breath.
(01:02:16):
The amount of interaction youcould have with the world and
the payoff that it had, but notin any sort of like.
The Grey Warden will rememberthis kind of way, but in the
weirdest, most mundane ways.
I don't know.
It's.
It's up there for.
It's a top five for me.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
Hmm, i will say My
first mental, the first Metal
Gear I played was on the NES,and mine too.
It blew my mind when you coulddo the cigarette smoke and like
you could see the.
Yeah oh my goodness, but then itwould take away health from you
too.
I just, I just like I Don'tknow.
(01:02:54):
it was just like for me, ithink.
I was like I Don't know ifgreat, or something like that,
and I was like, oh my goodness, this is amazing.
I can't believe that.
Wasn't that?
I mean for it, for it for thistime It was pretty amazing, and
Roger started ripping heatersand blowing smoke everywhere
just to see Taking them rips.
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
I mean, you gotta
compare.
Also, you think about the factthat Metal Gear for the NES was
the Inferior clone of what wasoriginally envisioned on the MSX
and it still did all of thesereally cool forward thinking
things like.
I was probably.
I was an elementary school whenit was, when I was aware of it
being out and my older brotherand my father were playing the
(01:03:35):
hell out of it And I would tryto stumble my way through it and
I was so enamored with it Andso, yeah, when Metal Gear Solid
came out for the PS1, i lost mymind.
I saw like a cover feature forit on PlayStation magazine And
I'm like they've still got thecardboard box.
That's how you know a MetalGear fan from the from the old
(01:03:56):
dayskind of thing Yeah and so, yeah,
no, absolutely, it was so coolwhat they were doing, that and
they never stopped being weird.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
Yeah, and it was
super hard to like.
Oh yeah Yeah, The NES game wasvery hard So.
Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
I've never beaten it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
I haven't either.
We got I think.
I mean it feels like we gotclose, but Well, i don't know,
who knows, then maybe we didn'tget close but They.
We sunk a lot of time into thatgame.
Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
Yeah, I feel like
nowadays It's beatable.
I just haven't taken the time.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
Yeah, also I do feel
like my like the games that I
did beat when I was a kid, likeI beat Mike Tyson's punch out
and now I don't.
I can't beat Mike Tyson to savemy life.
So, like I don't know, i don'tknow if, like, maybe my motor
skid, like.
But it's weird, i watch my wifeplay games, like she plays
Super Mario World the six coins, whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
I think the six
golden coins Mario on the Mario
land to six golden coins on theGame Boy.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
Yes, she played that
game so much as a kid because
that was like one of the onlygame boy games They had.
Like it is crazy to watch herplays because it's all memory,
muscle memory.
She's like, yeah, you know,like I'm just like I Can't do
that.
I can't like I've never playedthe game before, but like it's a
really fascinating to watch herplay that game.
It's in almost like likespeedrunning.
(01:05:15):
It's pretty fun to watch, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:05:17):
Well, like you said,
it's it's muscle memory, it's
it's rhythm memory.
Yeah, yeah, i would imagine alot of those games you beat as a
kid.
You could get back to that samelevel and much quicker than you
realize.
You just need to shake offwhatever Kind of drift has
happened whether you want to iscompletely up to you.
Yeah, yeah, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
I struggle with
others.
I struggle with like SuperMario Kart, though Like my mind
can't, can't Do like you know, cuz like now you play Mario Kart
and you're like oh yeah, i got,like I the input, like there's
not much leg right, like I getit, and now when you play the
older, i don't get this anymore.
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
Oh yeah, an absolute
input lag on HD TVs has done
more to damage us than werealize.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
I.
Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
Have gotten so weird
about it because again I play
rhythm games.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
I have to.
Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
DDR past behind my
couch.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
DDR at home still.
And yeah, no, trying to getthat right is, oh, it's so
frustrating.
So, yeah, i think that's partof it too.
It messes you up more than yourealize.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
Yeah, agreed, all
right.
Well then, let's move into ourfinal segment, and this is where
we get to stick it to the manand make Phil play games in a
segment that we call tails fromthe e-shop.
But this week, phil, i feellike a Few.
(01:06:41):
You got off easy.
So, mike, do you want to readthe game in the description of
what we had Phil play this week?
Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
Sure, which, which
actually you've inspired me
maybe meant the next game I'llhave is that game.
Stick it to the man.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Oh yeah.
I get in poked with a bunch ofsticks You actually have to
simulator.
Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
It's the weirdest
level of Katamari ever.
You roll around the man.
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
But when you say roll
around is not actually in the
game, it's actually put stickson you and then just roll around
while you hold your switch.
She would, i come up with.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
It's like cleaning up
garbage on the side of the
highway.
Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
Exactly, listen if
Nintendo can make us do, if, if
anyone can make us do communityservice through video games.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
It's Nintendo, and
this is why I don't like
Nintendo.
I've done enough communityservice in my life.
Speaker 4 (01:07:33):
All community service
.
I've done, i know I've earned.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Just a side note,
which, if we made him play, what
was that game called?
toilet paper roll or somethinglike that, or Yeah, yeah, i pass
paper some shit like that's thetoilet paper
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
something Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
But, you had to, yeah
, so, like they encouraged you
to take your Joy-con and stickit into a roll of toilet paper
and then roll the toilet paperon a piece of cardboard and And
as you do, obviously then thecarrot, the roll, the toilet
paper on the TV would roll along.
It was really weird.
It was a strange game.
Speaker 3 (01:08:08):
Yeah, think of it
like a 2d marble, madness.
Yeah yeah, toilet paper thatyou are.
It was physically like liftinga piece of cardboard and the
toilet paper is rolling on it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:19):
Yeah, Nintendo lab
will got real lazy in the third
wave.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
By your own stuff
will just give you the game,
Yeah yeah, you kids got toiletpaper tubes.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
You've been using
them to send secret messages and
bought your siblings with them, pretending their lightsabers

right, phil, i think?
are you ever saying likeactually he controlled pretty
well, it's a.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
I mean you could,
obviously when you cheated and
just like held on the roll It'sabout paper like the game was
far easier, but like Effective.
Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
That's incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
There's the kind of
stuff that we make him play, but
this week what we're nice toyou, phil.
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
So I felt bad.
I felt bad for the guy fromthat last game in the last game.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):

good.

Every inch of the game is likea picture straight from the
prohibition era.
The cars, the furniture, thespeakeasy clubs, the music and
the weaponry reflect theturbulent days of the wrong 20s.
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
Okay, and that's it
very nice, very nice That was
very well done, mike.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
I would have gave up
halfway through.
dude Mike, you stuck with it.
Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
Good job, all right
now I'm gonna need you to give
me two more.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
I need one that's a
little more international news
and then we're one where you'rejust kind of throwing it away a
little bit Like give me, likeyou can pause it, just give me a
lot of energy on each one Okay.
I only have two in 1920s newsguy and terrible bane.
You can do a lot with 1920snews guy.
Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
You get that
mid-Atlantic and you get that
good nasal going like no, like Ihear you got it Just like
joking around a voice direction.
It's funny, or that way.
Speaker 1 (01:11:26):
Oh, that's awesome.
Uh, phil, what, what?
what did you think of this game?
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Um, i did a little
bit of research after I reached
my stopping point in the gameAnd, from what I can tell, i've
got two levels left.
If that doesn't tell youanything, oh wow.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Wow, you played a lot
.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
I probably put five
hours into this.
I adore it.
I think it's absolutelywonderful.
I think it's charming.
It is really well written.
Again, the soundtrack is justthat roar in 20s type of a
soundtrack to it.
It feels good.
It plays really good in myopinion.
Uh, it's.
It's a little, i won't sayunforgiving, but it's definitely
not an easy ride through.
Um, the animation of thegraphics are absolutely jaw
(01:12:04):
dropping for what they are.
The voice acting is pretty spoton.
Um, you fight some giantradioactive Uh mice at one point
in the middle of the sewers andthat part got a little bit
weird to me.
But it all works out becauseyou're also fighting the undead,
including undead strippers thatcarry whips.
So there's oh, there's thatfacet of it.
Um, i'm saying I'm a lotbecause I've I've got words and
(01:12:27):
I've got thoughts, but I don'tknow how to put them together at
this exact moment because I hadsuch a good time with this game
like I'm gonna go back.
I'm gonna finish this game, i'mgonna wrap it up.
There's no doubt about itIncredible I think.
It's currently 399 in thee-shop.
I played it on the xbox becauseit's my, my platform of choice.
It's back up to 10 dollars onthe Are on xbox, but it is still
only four dollars on the e-shop.
(01:12:47):
I highly recommend if you are afan of.
I believe I read somebody elsecompared to like a mega man
contra style game, which ispretty accurate, with the
exception of you don't getweapons that do more damage to
different bosses at differentpoints.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
But But it's a run-in
guy Yeah, it's a side scrolling
running gun and it's it's very,very gratifying.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
I I dig it a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
Well, i'm glad That
you enjoyed Your time this week,
because I don't know if you'regonna have that seam.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Well, I wanted to get
my opinion because I think he
played a little bit of it too.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Oh yeah, I,
absolutely I wanted to, i wanted
to, but I know you have it, andwhy didn't you play it?
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Yeah, roger, me too,
i'm level four with Phil so.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
I'm level 47.
You don't have Diablo four asan excuse.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
Roger, i'm reviewing
book walker.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
What are you saying?
You don't want to be fightingthe forces of the undead?
Yeah, were you too good.
You're too good to be going.
They are rising out of theground.
We don't know how many thereare.
We don't know how long they'resupposed to be dead.
We put them in the ground.
They come back up.
We got to take them out.
You're sitting.
You're not good enough to bedoing this.
Come on, come on.
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
I think you had me at
undead strippers actually, so I
mean yeah, yeah and I didn'teven mention the jiggle physics.
For everybody Equal opportunityyeah, uh, mike, yeah, what did
you think of this game?
Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
I I'm along the same
lines as Phil here.
I really enjoyed it.
And here's the thing is that II Knew about this game before,
but I really didn't want to playit because, i'll be honest, i
am not a big fan.
I think I've said this before Iam not a big fan of that style
of animation or where it lookslike a flash animation.
Yeah, it's got that, the thatfeel yeah, so I'm not a big fan
(01:14:34):
of that, but I gave it a try andI it really is.
I mean it's, it's Well drawn, the the art is great, the
gameplay is great.
It's it's a slower contra,which I liked.
I you might even say it'scloser to like metal slug.
Speaker 4 (01:14:46):
Yeah, yeah, certainly
the proportions of the
characters.
I'm watching the animationright now because this is the
first time hearing of the game.
It's got a bit of an alienhominid kind of animation style,
but a little yes but a littleslower.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Yep, Yeah more
methodical and I like the slower
pace of it and that you know, because I'm old and my brain
don't work.
No good, so and it's.
But yeah, it's definitely, andI, from what I, what I've read
about it It's, it's a lot morefun when you're playing local
multiplayer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Yeah, i did see that
it had a Yeah you can play with
as well, which is something I'dlike to check out, but that
means I'd have to make threefriends, and I don't feel like
doing that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Local, you can't play
online.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
No online.
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
No uh.
Speaker 4 (01:15:27):
Well, it's
interesting because you normally
hear it the other way aroundthese days.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Yeah, this is an
older game, though, isn't it
right?
Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
2017.
Speaker 4 (01:15:34):
Yeah, I think maybe
at least a sequel to do it as
well.
It can't be 2017.
It's gotta be, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
I think it is 2017 or
so.
Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
Yeah, december 21st
2017, according to the Nintendo
eShop.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
Okay, remember my
friend Andy playing it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
StYeah.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
Wow, they did.
Yeah, they did come out thesequel.
I didn't know, i didn't onlyyeah.
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
But definitely not.
If you're a fan of that styleof game, you're not gonna go on
with it, even at $10.
Speaker 3 (01:15:59):
Yes, but yeah that's
fine.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Yep, cool.
So, as tradition, we have twodoors for you.
So, mike, do you want to readwhat's behind door number one?
the description of the game forPhil for door number one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):

Yeah, now you don't now I don'tknow, okay, here is the name of
the game.

Speaker 2 (01:16:28):

Speaker 3 (01:17:12):
Well, i don't think
it's the same people.
I don't think it's the samepeople, but I have to.
At least let me read the titleAnd the description.
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
Yeah, yeah, you might
change your mind, phil, you
might change.
Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
The graphics don't
look too bad Okay the other game
.
Deep space Action, fire, sci-figame 2023, shooter strike
simulator, alien death ultimategames.
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
It's definitely the
same people.
There's no chance in hell.
It's not the same fuckingpeople.
Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
Right now it's on
sale for a dollar ninety nine,
was that the description?
No, that's the title.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
I'm looking at it
right now.

Yeah, deep space, colon aliens, alien fire, sci-fi game, 2023,
shooter, strike simulator, aliendeath, ultimate games.
Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
The punctuation is
important because it's the only
time it occurs.
Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
Yes, okay, you ready,
phil.
Okay, i could tell you are.
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
Too busy chewing on
my bottom lip trying to decide
how angry I'm right now, do you?
Speaker 4 (01:18:28):
want me to make this
dramatic, i will make this
dramatic.
Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
It's not the same
company, from what I'm looking
up, oh, which means I don't knowyou out.
Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
Yeah, you don't, yeah
, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
Uh, deep space is a
highly interactive game doubt
with stunningly realisticgraphics.
Mmm an eerie atmosphere createdby sound and gameplay.
Players navigate through levelbased sections of the spaceship,
completing missions andfighting monsters.
See, that's not so bad.
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
Yeah, that's not so
bad.
Yeah, completing levels andfighting monsters like air.
Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
Yeah, it kind of
takes a turn after this.
The game starts when theprotagonist wakes up in a
sarcophagus.
Okay, okay and tries tounderstand what happened.
Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
As one does when you.
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
Repacking this
sarcophagus.
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
How the fuck did I
get here?
coffee coffee Wrong turn toelbow curfew, that's I Parked my
shuttle.
Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
The fight for
survival becomes intense right
from the first level, theprotagonist not understanding
what happened at the bow of theship During his exploration, he
is in search for ammunition, health reserves and nodes which
are used both to unlock specialdoors and to upgrade weapons and
suit.
Oh, he begins to explore thespace of the ship he is in and
(01:20:03):
to look for ways out of thesituation.
Okay, during his exploration,he meets a multitude of monsters
in the rooms that he mustdefeat in order to open the next
one.
So does he have to defeat theroom or does he have to do?
during his exploration, he meetsa multitude of monsters in the
rooms that he must defeat inorder to open the next one.
(01:20:25):
The rooms must be defeated.
That's right.
That's, that's what I thought.
Speaker 4 (01:20:28):
What is that?
is you do 2023 shooter striketo take them down?
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Are you teach them to
love?
do you do trade game?
is simulator alien?
Speaker 4 (01:20:41):
Oh yes, Yes, is it
real alien?
No, it's a simulator.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
And don't worry about
it.
We can't afford real alien.
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
Listen, we spent all
of our budget on that action
fire sci-fi in the first fiveminutes.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
You're just getting
simulator alien.
Okay.
You guys might think asarcophagus is cheap, but it's
not.
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Our budget was.
Speaker 4 (01:21:02):
That is our death.
Ultimate games right there.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Let's see He also
meets the main monster, which is
the most difficult to defeat.
Speaker 1 (01:21:12):
I would hope so.
Imagine if he wasn't the main, like if the main boss was the
easiest to defeat.
Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
Gotta flip it around
a little yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
In the third part of
the game.
Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
I thought we just met
the main boss.
I thought we just beat him.
It was really difficult to beat.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
Yeah, there's more
escape the exploding ship Oh.
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
Oh, right, right,
right, right, right, yep The
multitude of monsters in theinnumerable rooms that must be
defeated.
Main monster, third part ofgame.
Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
Let's see.
And the third part of the gameis the escape from the damaged
ship by means of a smaller ship.
Speaker 4 (01:21:58):
I heard he made the
ship himself out of a bigger
ship.
Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
I'm just gonna go
ahead and fly my really large
ship through the small ship toget the fuck out of here.
Speaker 3 (01:22:10):
This entire game.
Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
It's, it's at least.
it is more than one room, it isat least two rooms, okay we
don't know how many multitudesof monsters.
Speaker 3 (01:22:24):
But not everything is
as easy as it seems.
As The portently yeah, here'sthe here's now.
Here's here's the part wherethey spoil everything Not
everything is as easy as itseems, as the protagonist is
prevented by something fromdoing this.
Speaker 4 (01:22:37):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:22:38):
Yeah, we don't know
what's preventing it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
Yeah, how can I find
out?
Yeah, the game is, what is howyou?
Speaker 3 (01:22:43):
can find out yeah,
you, and you can find out the
end of the tense story only bytrying the game.
Speaker 1 (01:22:55):
You know why cuz
nobody streamed this game.
Speaker 4 (01:22:59):
I would like to point
out that.
I know it's not part of theofficial description, but I
would like to do what Nintendoe-shop is telling me after that,
and it's read less.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
Oh, phil, if you
haven't looked at any pictures,
it almost looks like doom.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
This is a beta build
of doom doom 3.
Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:31):
I'd say, yeah,
they're doing three, kind of
looks like it's 2023.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
I.
Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
Know it's 2023.
So why, are we still seeingthese?
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
Yeah, is this a game
that was made for the distant
future of 2023?
.
Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
Well, they're playing
in a sequel.
It's gonna be a yearly release,like Madden.
Oh, oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
Do I need to have
played the first 2022?
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
I'm gonna be lost.
They go ahead and tap Christ onthe shoulder and look like the
most shooters right here.
Speaker 1 (01:24:02):
That's how you know
where you ended up because you
didn't play 2022.
If you played 2022, you'd belike oh yeah, it's makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
It's a good call back
.
Rami's movies with the bigconvert or the big Cadillac
that's in the back.
Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
Oh yeah, you know
what?
to hell with it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
I hate myself enough
this week, let's go ahead and do
it Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
You're gonna go with
it.
That's amazing.
No, it's not gonna be amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
I'm never gonna know
what it's like flying a small
ship to a big ship.
I'm not gonna make it that farbecause the game's gonna piss me
off long before that point, sowe never even know how this ends
.
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
But I want to know
the only way you know how the
story ends is if you try it, ifyou experience it yourself.
Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
I'm a tense story,
you must find out the end and
please let us know next weekwhich of these adjectives
actually In the title actuallyLike dad we have all of these
words here and it is a one outof five.
Speaker 4 (01:24:59):
Yeah, space.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
The answer is action
death, fire, death is the one
that's gonna describe the entiregame.
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
Oh my god, 2023,
maybe, maybe that was 2022.
What was the other game, mike, that he was behind door number
two?
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
I Can I can say what
it's, man, i really would like
to keep it, let's keep it foranother, for another, another
day.
Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
