Speaker 1 (00:00):
In your off season then the kind of reflecting back
on her over the season.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Off season was good.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Got some time to rest, but spent some time around family,
you know, did a little traveling. Uh, rookie year, learned
a lot, gained a lot of experience. So proud of
the way I performed.
Speaker 4 (00:16):
Sure, And when you worked uh this off season with
Wally Anderson? Can you talked about the work and so
much what it's taught you. Do you feel more comfortable?
Have you found a stance that you feel more comfortable with?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Working with really was cool, just gaining a lot of
his knowledge and he was a Pro Bowl player. We
were just playing around with my stance, like seeing what's comfortable,
seeing what's not comfortable on a stands that I can be.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Functioning a lot of and uh explode out of and
stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
How much do you think that act? And I know
you've never gonna make an excuses, but you need and
you probably like you were last year?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
How much of that was the factor? Finding that go?
Or it wasn't effective.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
I mean a lot of guys you know get bingmed up,
get uh get banged up. I wasn't the only one
out there dealing with stuff.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
How did you get uh okay up with WILLI Anderson.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
It's on Instagram, through Instagram and stuff like that. Uh,
We've been c necting and stuff like that. I've re
knew with each other, you know, renew of each other, uh,
prior to us working and stuff. But really just social media.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, getting comfortable and I guess how did he How
did you work on your stands?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
How did it change up with that?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Uh? Yeah, Like I said, just seeing like whether I'm
wadded it or not my base or narrowing it or
just seeing what's comfortable. You gotta be able to be
functioning in your stance and be able to uh move
efficiently out of your stand.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
So that's what we were trying to find.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Just finding a base that I'm quick out of, that's
comfortable for me, in a stance that I can you know,
get in and repeat rep after rep after up.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
So is that is that something you are trying out
or something that you are never doing?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
It's something that it's a continuation just going to continue
to get work, just to continue to work and get
better and just in every facet of the game, you know,
regardless of whether it's my stance or my hands or
my pad level or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, is that something you.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Were eager to do, like, hey, I I wanna get better,
Let's see what I can tweak. Or when you've had
success doing stuff m technically one way, you might some
guys might be resist I guess to making any changes, like, look,
I've gotten this far doing it this way.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
I mean, I'm open to change. In this league, you
gotta be able to adapt. You know, I've done a
lot of things.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
That worked for me in the past. I've done things
that haven't worked so well. So this is just another
one of those things, me trying something new, just seeing
how it could get better in any way.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Way.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Don't could speed at the game, And that's that's usually
a big challenge for young guys when to get to
the NFL. How did that slow down for you? What
did you do to help that slow down?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
When it comes to that, it's really just reps. It
all boil down, the reps.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Just the more I went out there and played, the
more and more comfortable and confident that.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
I got, he said this year versus last year. This year,
you actually know and feel what it's like to play
in the NFL. How strong guys are, how fast they are?
Did you pick up same thing once the season ended?
Come out here now knowing you know, now I felt it.
I can come out here and take her with what I.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Got, right, Like nothing's a surprise now, Like I know
what to expect, Like I know what the NFL level
game is, and yeah, just doing what I can to
go out there, you know, performing and play well. So
it's definitely good that I got the experience that I
did last year carrying over into this season.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
So back to the.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Stance, did you feel comfortable in the stand during last year? Like,
I'm sure it feels like a big thing than kind
of a job. So sure, it's how you come about
doing that.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
I mean, yeah, I feel comfortable. I mean, but with anything,
you wanna refine it to the point of where you
know you can get better results out of it, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
So it wasn't the fact that I was uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
I was just analyzing my game and I was like, Okay, well,
maybe if I treat the disappoint on my stands, you know,
maybe I'll be able to get into my pas set quicker,
or maybe I'll be more balanced whenever I take my
pass set. So really, it's just a refining type of thing.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
But you were also making a transition from the left side.
You played the left side in your final year college
and then switched to the right side, so they had
to be in the Justin Barren thing.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Now, Yeah, going from a l a left handed stance
to a right handed stance. Thankfully, I've done it before
cause I played through different positions at Alabama, you know
what I'm saying. So it wasn't that big of a deal.
The main thing is, I feel like I guess your
hip alignments and stuff like that. Just making sure that
my hips, you know, get back adjusted to the right side.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
You know, that's the biggest thing that I deal with.
Have three laurn forgive me.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
How much were you working with William orcept?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Was it like a week long thing? Was it like
you s all or was it like months all off season?
How much time did you get spent together?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
He came up here and we worked for a few days,
watched the film, got on the field work some different
technique things, and uh, we have dinalogue. We keep in contact,
We keep in touch with each other, you know, just
talk ball, you know what I'm saying. Not everything has
to be physical.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
You know, was up here? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, did you stay up here other than have a family?
You're up here all off season? Or where did you
like train?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I was here.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
I was there, you know, just spending time, uh with
my family, having a little bit of fun and I
was working. I love the contacts been limited, But what
has it been like kind of testing out some of
this stuff against guys like Caveon if you came in
with last year, was like, it was really good at
the house that ironing. Yeah, it's always fun. You get
to go up against like another body, Like it's easy
(04:58):
for me to go out there and take pass sets
against air. But you know, even though it's walk through speed,
you kind of get to, you know, go through the
feel of how you feeling, like just my balance, my base,
like my hands and my feet.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Hi, everything's matching and stuff like that. So it was cool.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
You know even though that his walk through faces you
know at this point, really I ain't sharpening it too
much when you walking through, but it's still it's still
good to just go through the motion.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
You don't get the muscle me we're in the.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Ups and said you were proud of your rookie season
and there was still some adversity.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
I mean, what do you what are you proud of
the way that you handled it?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yeah, And I'm sure adversity is a part of everything.
And just how battle with some things, whether it be
UH injuries, having a miss time and stuff like that,
playing through like bad games and.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Things like that.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
I just like the way that I, uh, I was
able to be resilient, you know, through it all, finished
the year strong. UH didn't complaint or anything or just
went out there every Sunday, you know, and gave it
everything that I had.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
So I was really proud of that.
