Speaker 1 (00:00):
What did uh you think of drafting a first round
corner who obviously, uh, you're gonna have to mentor here
a little bit could be playing opposite.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Oh, I'm excited, you know. I think about when uh,
I was in Tennessee and I had Logan Ryan being
able to help me and mentor me, and then the
following year I had Malcolm Butler. So I always think
of it as a I added benefit, you know, to
us as a whole, not just the defense, but the
team as a whole. So I'm excited watch his tape

(00:29):
like him, I watch him doing the walk throughs and
different things, you know, and talk to him. Got a
good head on his shoulder. Seemed like a a great guy,
So I was I was excited, you know, to get dbanks.
Do you see.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Any similarities in terms I mean, I would imagine you're
looking on film where you see tange than rackets, but
in terms of his personality and how I would imagine
as a veteran, you know how personality is meationalists. What
do you think it tastes personality? Was are you getting
the open up?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Is that kind of a uh? No, I hasn't been
a challenge. I think He's a great guy and he's
been acceptable to the culture, you know that what we're
trying to build here, and I can just do anything
but appreciate you know, him and welcoming him in the
same as us. You know, it takes a lot to
gain so much trust and vice vership that he came
in with open arms as we did. So he he's
been a good guy, giving us laugh, you know, singing

(01:19):
and stuff, which was just pretty cool to see him
not shy away or be shy at all and trying
to be one of us. Is dope to see what
do you think the best thing in the veteran quarterback
and teaching you on cornerback is kind of what Dick
Lebow used to teach me when I was in Tennessee.
You know, if something doesn't go my way or play
doesn't go you know this, that or third, he always

(01:40):
was to be able to tell me his experiences and
what goes on and just give him tools that to
make him better. I think that's the the best thing
that a better cornerback can do. Just let somebody learn
from their mistakes and just trying to help them and
be that voice or reason or ear how I think
I would have wanted it, you know, coming in or
a vice versa. So just trying to be there as
much as possible for him.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I most metrics think people say, you had a really
good season last year. Here's how do you look at
your season? And then the one knock people have on
you is not a lot of game turnover sports? Or
why do you think that is for a guy who's
around the ball as much as you.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I don't know, that's a that's a good question, you know.
I feel a lot of season was all right. I
feel like a good season, you know that been going
all the way and winning the whole thing. But yeah,
I can't explain, you know, being around the ball a lot,
but not getting any players. You know, hopefully the Lord,
you know, here's me put it up in the existence
and give me a lot more this year.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Is that something? I mean, I've just brought it up.
So is that something that you think about? Is that
something you work on trying to get.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Try to get the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
If it don't happen that way, I'm not gonna beat
myself up over it and then just think about, oh
I need to do this, do this, do this, And
I'm thinking about the wrong thing and then something else happens.
I give up or I mess up and play somewhere else.
So for me, it's just to be in the moment
on being that player and then clear you know, next
play mentality. Because let's say I do get pick alright,
I was saying in the first quarter, I got three
more quarters of the play, or I do get a PB,

(03:08):
or I do something happened, you know, Wink alway says,
give us two. So for me to try to play
my game and you know, when opportunity to come to
make make the place.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Doorg you notice seemed like that, but it was a
point emphasis during the off season. Do you notice of
the offenses market be faster receivers faster than maybe.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I would say, with being able to be familiar with
the offense and you know, having another year in it,
you know, playing with Wink last year and learned and
come in able fourth. You know, I always tell Dames
that was way too early to come in, you know,
but we benefit from it. But having you know, Wink
still here and Dave's cathel and having that still offense,
you know, DJ being under that system and being able

(03:50):
to teach the guys like they went out to Arizona
and was able to, you know, work together and get
familiar with everything. So I think that makes everything faster.
And you know, like you said, speed wise, those guys
that move you know out there, and like you know
this this league now is you know, offense dominated and
pass the league really, so to be able to, you know,
see that speed, it's great for us because we're gonna
face a lot of guys that that do similar things

(04:12):
on offense. So that really late practice where you're mash
up with Waller down here. What's it like as a
corner to see a guy like that come up and Nah,
it's crazy. You know his catch rader is, you know,
being able to you know, you can jump one route,
but DJ can throw it somewhere else and he can
still be able to get to it the speed that
he has. And it's not like it's a different type

(04:33):
of speed in the sense where he builds up his
speed and you can like, look like the hell he
just runs strong, Hell like he trying to run through you,
run around you, whatever may be. But I love it
because you never know what you're gonna match up with.
You know, you can go against a six to five
receiver or smaller guy. You just get different looks. And
I think that's what I appreciate most about this offense.
You know, you got a lot of different type of
body stricture, a lot of different type of attributes from

(04:54):
these guys and having you know, everybody to help us
be better as a defense.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I just make the move from corner of the safety logan.
Obviously it comes to mind we saw Nick McCleod playing
some safety today. How does he look there and that
group as a whole trying to replace Julian I.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I think you know, Nick is a man, Swiss Army Knights,
a god that's gonna do whatever you ask him to do,
and he's gonna do it at a high level. And
I one thing I can say is I appreciate Nick,
you know, never putting his hand down, never wavering, never
being what was me just like all right, coach, what
should need me to do? And him being there to
switch around mm. I think it's great because we can

(05:32):
utilize him in.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
So many different ways.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Uh. I just I can say I can just appreciate Nick,
you know, for for him being unselfish. You know a
lot of gosh probably would be mad or whatever may
be with him going out there just loving the game.
You love the game and having fun with it. Good
things happen and get someone to feel as well.
