Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is it a situation where you know, after the way
you guys lost again, it was it almost like was
this a shock but not a shock? It was definitely
a shock.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I mean obviously like people right about and all that,
but like in here, like as long as people are
shown up to work and you don't have to work,
you assume they're going to be here.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
We never assumed that somebody is going to be going.
So it definitely was a shock to us as players.
But you know, at the same time, like we also
understand the business and how it goes.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Is there a sense of you know, you give your
all every day, but still at the end of the
day it resulted in somebody losing their job, you feel
almost like a sense of regret.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Not regret, because I mean we tried, you know, it
wasn't like, you know, we didn't you know, go out
there and give our best effort to get the wins
that you know obviously would ultimately help him keep his shop.
We just weren't able to get that done. So you know,
I wouldn't say regret is the word, but I mean, obviously,
you know, you feel and feel for his family, you know,
wish some of the best you will obviously for a while.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, ready for this? And what's yeah? I think so.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I think he's in a great job of leading us
as an offense. And obviously, you know, he gess kind
of expand his role into leading the entire team with
defense and special teams. So you know, I think he's
ready for He does a great job of staying in
front of the guys and kind of giving the charge,
given direction over the past couple of days. And obviously
we know he's a good play caller, so you know,
I think he'll do a good job.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Did you notice anything different about him today? Today was
the first that you ever knew him as a head coach? Yeah?
Did he seem any different to you? Do you look
at him any different? Yeah? I mean I think he definitely.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Had a lot of energy. You know, I feel like
he was energized today. You know, he came in. You
know what you could tell he's like had a positive mindset,
opportunistic mindset, you know, so to speak. And you know,
I think anybody that gets a chance to get a
job and get a promotion, so to.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Speak, you know, you should be that way.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
We don't see a lot of his personality is there
more passion, more fire, more energy to him than maybe
we've seen, you know, with him as number two.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, I mean I think he's yes, for sure, you know,
I think in a while setting or whether that be
in the meeting or in the sideline, I definitely think
he has some fire and passion in him. But you know,
at the same time, he's probably naturally a little bit
more of a calmer personality, so to speak. But you
know that can be helpful, you know, especially in a
high pressure game like we're in, you know, a week
in and week out, you know that calming presence can
definitely be beneficial.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Darry says a team leader there, you know you've gone
through this before. There are some guys who haven't. So
what would be your message to the guys who haven't
gone through this who maybe are uncertain right now?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I mean, you know, the human nature thing would be,
you know, we have two wins or ten weeks, and
we have seven weeks left, and you know some people
would pack it in, you know, say our head coach
got fired whatever, But the reality of this league is
that you know, with change comes change, and you don't
know whether or not you will or will not be
a part of those changes. So it would behoove you
as individual to do your best overly seven weeks and
give your best effort and try to get some wins

(02:46):
on the board in order to try to keep yourself
in the Giant's uniform. So, as you know, that's mostly
what I'll tell guys. You know, it's like now, it's
definitely not the time to relax, and we need to
go out there and try to put our best be forward.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Are you going to have your antenna up to look
for guys that maybe are kind of thrown in the
towel prematurely.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
No, because I don't think that'll be a problem on
this team. We have the right kind of guys around here,
and I think guys will go out there and get
their best effort. But you know, obviously, if this is
your first time going through this, you just don't know.
But I do know, you know, so you know, I
just try to share share wisdom when I can.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
It's a little bit different for you this time, yes,
because the last two coaches I got fired Barre at
the end of the season and now he's out in
the middle of season. Like, how does that get processed differently?
I guess for you the guy's been happened in the
middle of the season.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, in the middle of season obviously it's like somebody
gets promoted to interim, so it's it's more so shifting
to that person. But in the span of forty eight
hours as posting off season, it's like you said, you wait,
somebody gets announced, then you don't even see him to
OTAs like you have a lot of time to sit
and you know and get ready. But in season, you know,
we've had twenty four thirty six hours whatever to you know,
get ready for calf, but you know, are ready for him,

(03:46):
and he seems to be ready and are rad to
rock It?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Is it just odd coming in today? You know, the
guy who has been the head coach here for the
last three and a half years. Is he's a big
presence here. Is it odd to come in and he's gone.
He's just that's it. It's somebody else is there.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, of course he's a head coach. You know you're
obviously gonna notice that presence being gone. But you know,
like I said, cast film role and I think he's
gonna do a great job and look forward to.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Working with him.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Have you had questions from your defensive teammates who haven't
really done that we have much. What's he like? What
can we expect?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Not a ton, but you know, I just try to
tell him what he's like, you know, as a guy,
and you know what to kind of expect something.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
You guys are gonna have your third different quarterbacks start
this week. Just we've seen a lot of energy, looks
like from Jamis is up on the sidelines with I mean,
what is he going to bring this week?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah? I think just positive energy.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
You know, Jamis is a positive guy, but he's also
kind of an electric personality so to speak. You know,
a guy that you know draws people in and it
makes people believe. So you know, look forward to playing
one of this week.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
He's a quarterback. There is that he's going to give
his guys a chance. Yeah, for sure, you know what
I mean. I think there's gonna be fifty to fifty opportunities.
He's gonna He's gonna give you a chance to tell
to any odd For sure. How does that change your
mindset when you're out there?

Speaker 2 (04:57):
You know, everybody's alive, doesn't matter where you're running or
what you're running. You know, he can gun it anywhere,
and he will gun it anywhere. And as for a
first ever, you know, that's what you love. You know,
you love to have a change, so that to feel
like a guy that's going to give you a chance.
And you know, I think that's kind of been James's
whole career, is that type of mo and why he's
led the league in passing before, you know, So you know,
like I said, I think he'll do a great job.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
So we could that energy be something, you know, considering
everything that's going on, could that energy that he brings
me something that's.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Helpful for sure?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Of course, you know, I mean I think I think
everybody's kind of going about this, you know, the best
way I can to justin as fast as they can.
But obviously there's differences in how, you know, day's versus
cap approach things.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
There's small changes for us.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
But you know, I think on top of that, you know,
having somebody like James that's a steady presence, a veteran presence,
definitely helps.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
How would you feel, Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Probably, Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
You didn't practice it all today? We walked through today,
we walk through Yeah, okay, and you were able to
finish the game. Yeah, right, is it? You know, did
you exacerbate the hamstring or something.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Or No, I didn't get any worse. I was gaming
on now.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Just something you're going to have to manage. I guess
the rest of the year.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, is what it is?

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Do you think with Kapa Bey and the interim and
then I've got a new OC technically not the tight
ends coach got moved up. Like, is there much you
guys can realistically change through your system in the last
seven games?

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, not like massive changes, no, but like I said,
like small imprints.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
You know, he has his imprint.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
He's even kind of been shown today kind of in
the approach and some things we're going to get to.
But obviously also with James being a new quarterback, there's
also new there.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
You know, he's not dark.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
You know, he's not as much a runner as Jackson,
you know, all that type of things, So you know
there will be small, small imprints and nuances

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
