What if your first brush with higher consciousness came through a schoolyard fight and a meditation-forward martial art? We sit down with Daoist Healer and TaiChi Master Sifu Boggie to trace a life shaped by Taoist wisdom, close protection work, healing arts, and the simple commitment to help people remember what they already know. From childhood visions to Qigong and Neigong, his story is a grounded map for anyone curious about practical spirituality.

We unpack the Tao as a living framework where yin and yang describe flow, not morality. That lens turns trauma into compost for growth and turns practices like Tai Chi, breathwork, and energetic hygiene into everyday tools. Along the way, we explore how science is catching up with spirit: the observer effect, placebo and nocebo, emerging imaging of energy pathways, and quantum models of a connected field. These aren’t abstract ideas; they’re a call to test how attention, belief, and ritual shape your biology and your day.

Sifu shares disciplined approaches to perception, including remote viewing, and reflects on the surprising common ground across major religions: interconnection, agency, gratitude, love, and the steady work of raising vibration.

If you’re ready to align your nervous system with your values, blend ancient insight with modern evidence, and find simple practices that actually stick, this conversation will meet you where you are. SPEAKER_01 (00:02):
Hey, hey, hey, you guys, and welcome to Club with
Shaman Isis.
I'm your hostess with the mostis Cynthia Elliott, also known
as Shaman Isis.
And I have I am coming back froma little bit of a break.
Uh, and I'm super excited abouttoday's episode.
We are going to be talking aboutconsciousness and spiritual
journeys.
And I'm just absolutelydelighted to introduce you guys

(00:22):
to Sifu Bogey.
You're gonna have to pronouncethat for me.
Uh that's close enough.

SPEAKER_00 (00:30):
I mean, I'm I'm not actually breathing them from
your nose, but it's close, it'sclose, it's close enough.
In in Chinese, they say bogey, and it's a little bit more
aggressive, and it just meansthe the balance of between the
chaos and the farms.
So, but anyway, I'll just seewho boggy.

SPEAKER_01 (00:52):
I love it.
I love it.
I'm so excited to have you onthe show.
You have such an interestingbackground and you do so much
fascinating work.
Uh, take a second just tointroduce yourself uh and tell
our audience what you do beforewe get into your journey and and
consciousness.

SPEAKER_00 (01:10):
Take a moment, it'll be about an hour.
I should explain everything thatis.
Anyway, my name is PaulBrighton, aka Sifu, Boggy, or
Boggy.
Um, and SIFU means guide you, somebody points you along the
way.
It's not master, it's more aboutsomebody who's on that journey
with you.
And boggy means the balancerbetween the paras and the

(01:32):
karmas.
So it's like all that confusion, all these 10,000 different
modalities that exist in theworld.
My job is to help you find theright ones for you.
And I started off doing this.
Well, I started off at 11 yearsold.
Um, well, the I I started offlike before before then, I I

(01:54):
sort of awoke uh around aboutfive or six.
I remember past life stuff, andI was seeing stuff that other
people weren't seeing, but mymum was a little bit of a
hypercontract, so I learnt veryquickly not to necessarily say
that you're seeing big glowingthings sit uh around or you're

(02:14):
talking talking to stuff.
So I kept that sort of thing tomyself, and because of that, I
was always a little bitdifferent, a little bit out
there.
Um, but I always like wanted tohelp everybody and wanting to
make people smile, and and thatwas always felt like my mission.
And that I used to get beaten upa lot and bullied at school, and
around about 11 years old, my uhfamily uh well, my dad decided

(02:40):
um I should do some sort ofself-defense to sort of uh
protect myself.
And me being me, I managed tofind an not the normal martial
art.
And this one, one of the bigfocuses was meditation, and I
very much ducked to water, lovedmeditation, went into that and

(03:03):
very, very quickly went up thebelts.
And the in martial arts theyhave adjudicators like belt
testers, and I was fortunate tofind one who always was looking
for students, and he actuallydid the Taoist arts as well as
the martial arts.
The Tao is the way the path ofbalance, and it's part martial,

(03:25):
part healing, part spiritual.
And around about 12 years old, Istarted on this journey doing
the Taoist arts, which whichfunny enough is very much like
the Jedi and Star Wars.
In actual fact, George Lucasbased the Jedi and Star Wars on

(03:46):
the Taoist arts because thelight side of the force is
actually the yang, and the darkside of the force is the yin,
and the Jedi are sort of likeTaoists that flow through all
these different emotions and allthese different things.
So I went on this journey, andalong the way, I've been a

(04:07):
baker, pastry chef, uh closeprotection officer of bodyguard,
uh a PCSO police communitysupport officer uh for the
London Metropolitan Police.
Um also done massage.
Uh I now do more the massageteaching Tai Chi and Qigong,

(04:28):
which are styles of energyexercise.
Um, and I also make a thingcalled Organite, which is
crystal resin art, which helpsreduce, or allegedly, I have to
use the little uh apostrophes, allegedly helps reduce radiation
uh from uh routers and also yourphone.
That's the short version.

SPEAKER_01 (04:51):
I love it, I love it.
Uh you know it's so funny.
I haven't I don't think I've meta spiritual person who's like a
practicing um yet works in thefield that hasn't had a million
uh jobs or had a milliondifferent lifetimes in this one
lifetime.
And uh yeah, and and honestly, Ithink the ones hold on.

(05:13):
Sorry.
Um I know, right?
Thank you.
Uh and of course, a lot of thespiritual people that I know
have past life memories and umhave dealt with a lot of
challenges in this.
I think I honestly think a lotof trauma, particularly
childhood trauma, uh seems to bepart of the recipe for building
spiritual people because I'verarely met one.

(05:34):
I've had my own, you know, uhissues with bullying and and
being a you know, I was strange,I was a strange kid.
I mean, I was I think I thoughtI was likable, but I was, you
know, I always had memories ofpast lives from the the youngest
age and uh, you know, was foundmeditating as a toddler.
My mother was like, What are youdoing?
Like, I don't know, I rememberdoing this before.

(05:56):
Uh anyway, um, I would love tohear, and I know our audience
would love to hear.
So, how did you get in?
I know you studied with a coupleof was it Chinese brothers uh at
some point?
Like, tell me how how did you gofrom being like a teenager to
falling into the mystical arts?

SPEAKER_00 (06:13):
So um, well, it started, like I said, it
actually started at 11 yearsold, like started in in learning
this martial art and doing thiswhat it's called uh kitsida, or
it's now called kixa, but andit's um like only like 26 uh
moves, and but the biggest thingthey use, this is where it gets

(06:35):
a little bit confusing, they useqi, which is still energy, but
it's sort of a different type ofenergy, um, and their big focus
was on meditation.
And what happened was that theum that the first one I met was
a melee, but he's in China.

(06:55):
Um the head of the families tendto take the surname, so his name
is Shun, which is the surname ofhis family, but um and and so
that was what we called him.
He was Shun, and his brother waswas Poe.
Um he and both of them wereactually like they did their own

(07:20):
personal, like sort of Taoistsystem of martial arts and
healing arts and spiritual artsover 20 generations, and in in
the east, he was um he did a lotof close protection work.
Uh well, he he did a load ofclose protection work and
security work and worked withembassies, but also worked in

(07:42):
the uh fortune 500 and 100 indexbusinesses, so the millionaires
and millionaires, and hisbrother was very much a healer,
but also a feng shui, or somepeople say feng shui
practitioner, so that's that'sthe that's the people who like
you know, sort of can see the uhenergy in the property or house,

(08:04):
and they can manipulate it toimprove your business or your
your life, your fortune, and andwhatnot.
And that was very much theirroles.
And to to be really honest, ifI'm really, really frank, uh, I
don't always say this in the inthe podcast, but what Sun and
Poe said to me was well, PoeShun said to me, I see you, and

(08:28):
I uh I have been your CFO manytimes, and you have been my sifu
many times, and it's my turn tobe your seefu again.
Now, for a lot of people, theythey go, What?
What the frick are you talkingabout?
But for me, as soon as you saidit, yep, made perfect sense.
Uh yeah, I I could really feelthat and resonate with that,

(08:51):
that you know, and almoststarting to remember those past
lives.
So it was like uh and they verymuch taught in a way, and I
teach in a way that I'm notteaching you anything, I'm
reminding you what you alreadyknow.
And uh and and so it's it's thatessence of like for me, you

(09:12):
know, it was just anothercontinuation of of the journey,
but I've always been veryinterested in science and
spirituality because especiallyright now, the science of right
now, so quantum physics, epigenetics are literally
proving the ancient knowledge.

(09:32):
So the ancient knowledge of thechakras, the auras, the
meridians, all that stuff isbeing proven right now through
quantum physics and andepigenetics.
And so I think it's no no no no.

SPEAKER_01 (09:45):
I I love that you brought that up because I I read
uh at one point, or I wroteabout actually when I was saying
in my first book.
I wrote about the fact that Ithink it was in 1974, some
quantum physicists sat down withthe Buddha to show him that they
had proven that everything wasconnected, and uh, and he was
like, So then they're like, andhe's like, Yeah, we've known

(10:09):
that for thousands of years, andthey're like, We just wanted to
show you it was true.
And he's like, Yeah, we've knownthat for thousands of years, but
I get it.
I like I like it when scienceactually, because you know, the
field in quantum physics is thesame as spirit is in
spirituality, it's the samething, there's so much alignment
between quantum physics andspirituality, it's an
interesting time to be alive.

SPEAKER_00 (10:30):
Oh, well, very much so, and and and and that, and
that's the point, and and likethat same like uh circumstance
happened uh 15 years ago.
There was physicists thatcreated a machine that could see
the energy channels of the body, these tiny little energy
channels of the body, and theythey did a uh you know uh a big

(10:52):
reveal and whatnot, and there'sthese Chinese doctors there, and
and they held up a map of themeridians on uh you know, like a
uh uh you know, scroll and youmean you mean these, you mean
these, and they go, oh yeah, andit's like well, we've proven
they exist.
They say, Yeah, we already knewthey exist, and that's the
point, is you know, but but thethe biggest thing with that is

(11:14):
it's it's all like you know thejoke, and you tell somebody the
joke, and then you see themlaugh, and they go, ah, and it's
you you're helping them get getthe joke, and it's like the fact
that all this information, andthere was things I've studied
over the years that then I lookat quantum physics, and there's

(11:36):
a there's a physicist calledNisa Naseem, sorry, Naseem
Herriman, and one of the thingsthat he has shown that the
evidence of like uh all thedetails of the sun, that it he's
actually looked at it at the uhinformation and evidence, and
and he's actually saying itthere's actually evidence,

(11:57):
strong evidence to show there isa black hole in the center of
the sun, and every star has ablack hole.
Now, the dragbog shaman were oneof the things I I've I've
studied.
They and ancient knowledge havebeen talking about stargates in
the sun since the dawn dawn oftime, you know.
They they even draw you knownice little circles, the little

(12:20):
sunny lines coming off, and thebig black uh splodge in the
middle, and the ship coming outof it.
That's on stone tablets, whichput people trying to say, Oh no,
they're not real, they a dentistmade them, and it's like what
all 10,000 of them.
So it's but it's it's thisinteresting thing that you know
there's all this ancientknowledge and it's coming to a

(12:40):
point of saturation where it'svery hard for the disbelievers
or the haters to to to poo-pooit anymore.

SPEAKER_01 (12:50):
Yeah, yeah.
That's what I like because youknow, we need that, we need as
many, you know, this as well asanybody in the spiritual
community, we need as manypeople on the planet to be in
higher consciousness aspossible.
And it's very difficult to getin higher consciousness when
you're frictioning against uh,you know, the truths.
And um, I've been saying for acouple of years now that that uh

(13:10):
artificial intelligence wouldprove that psychic abilities
exist and that that would helpus help people understand how
powerful they are.
And a lot of people are like,uh, okay.
And of course, now we've gotartificial intelligence which
can read your thoughts andcreate images based on what
you're thinking without actuallyhearing you.
And it's like, okay, if we canbuild a machine that is psychic,

(13:32):
it's not that far of a late toimagine that, oh, guess what?
We're actually psychic, youknow.
Um, and I'm glad for thatbecause that that's been a huge,
um, I think that's been a hugeone of those huge bumps that was
created by conventional uhreligions.
Now, I'm a new age uh Christianmystic, so I have some beliefs
that fall into the traditionsand some that are many that fall

(13:53):
into the new age.
And I I think for a lot ofpeople, uh understanding that a
lot of the things that they weretaught aren't true, and what
could be true within that isactually an important part of
their journey.
So I'm glad to see the truthfinally coming out.

SPEAKER_00 (14:08):
100% just not well for me, there's two things right
there.
I mean, I think I'll go one ofthe ones I've always gone by is
you know, if you learn anythinglike with through science and uh
the placebo effect, and also umthe um blind case studies, that

(14:31):
the reason we in science, thereason we have blind case
studies, and now it's it's whatthey call um uh fourth blind
case studies where where the thelike say you've got somebody
trying an experimental drug, um,and some uh have the drug and
some don't.
You've got volunteers, thosevolunteers don't don't know um

(14:53):
what they're whether they are ornot taking the real thing.
That's the first level.
The second level, the actualperson running the experiment,
he doesn't know who's got what.
The person running him, hedoesn't know, they don't know,
he or she doesn't know what theygot, and it's only the original
person that actually knowswhat's going where.
And it's like, well, why why isthat?

(15:14):
It's because they have foundthat the observer affects the
experiment.
So if people know what they'retaking or whether they're taking
or not taking something, theycan literally affect things and
placebo.
What the biggest thing withplacebos that the medical
profession are keeping quiet isthat by law, all uh all

(15:35):
medication, even operations, even chemo, 10% of it has to be
placebo, meaning it's not real.
To the point where every countryin the world has what at least
one placebo chemotherapymachine.
So it makes the noise, but it'snot actually no plutonium in it,

(15:58):
no, nothing's coming through it.
But the people having thetreatments in those machines
still lose their hair, stillhave an effect that the cancer
cells still die because theybelieve they're in the real
thing, and we get this whole oh,oh, it's a plea SIBA, oh, you've
got to believe in it to be true.

(16:18):
But people are missing thefreaking point that we are that
powerful that we can we can cureourselves, we are that powerful
that we can either makeourselves better or kill
ourselves off.
That because you have no SIBAwhere whatever, you know, like
people are taking somethingthat's guaranteed to make them
better, and they still get itall, they still actually uh um

(16:43):
you know die because they wereso convinced it's not gonna
work, and so convinced from youknow, that we are the creators
of our own reality, and sothat's that bit.
And there's also the fact thatum I do a thing, I have done a
thing called remote viewing, which is sort of like psychic

(17:03):
viewing, but it's done in a in avery clinical way that you don't
you can't guess what what you'relooking at.
Where with psychic viewing, youcan say, I want to go to Mars,
and you can go off and leaveyour body and go to Mars.
But sceptics can say, Oh, you'remaking it up.
With remote viewing, it willhave on a bit of paper, you'll

(17:25):
have lots of different bits ofpaper, and one will say, Go to
Mars and say what is at Mars,um, and then it has a serial
number, and then all you'regiven is the number, and you're
given that number, and you focuson that number, and so you don't
know what's inside the envelope.
And you said earlier about thethe whole thing the physicist
inside what's called the quantumfield, that everything is

(17:47):
connected to every atom isconnected to every other atom,
and every consciousness isconnected to every other
consciousness through thequantum field, that means all is
one.
So if all is one, you don't haveto go anywhere to experience
something, you know.
So you don't have to go frompoint A to point Z, you can

(18:08):
actually just become it and beit, and through remote viewing,
I have actually and otherssimilar to me, we know Buddha
was real, we know Christ wasreal, we know that these people
were real, but and throughcertain things, uh back in the

(18:28):
90s, um, I had to studyreligious uh religious case
studies because I did martialarts and um close protection and
in-class protection, it helps tounderstand the nationality
you're in.
A lot of people are affected bytheir religion, so they do
things in a certain way, sounderstanding their religion

(18:49):
will help you do your job.
What I didn't realise is that itwas also teaching me something
far greater, which was when yougo back to the roots of all the
religions, they're all sayingthe same thing.
And in actual fact, there wasactually a point in time where
especially Christianity, theMuslim faith, Hinduism and

(19:11):
Judaism were so similar thatthey had a sick a secret meeting
around about the 1600s, and theyactually discussed about
dropping certain things in theirreligions to make to make more
of a difference between them.
So originally in Christianity weactually had reincarnation.

(19:38):
And which was like the place youwent into to you judged yourself
on your life, and you valued, you know, you saw the things you
did, and then at the end you hadthe opportunity to either come
back to earth and try again, orgo to the higher place.
And that was uh in the originalChristianity.

(20:00):
And so there's all these things,it's all these interesting
things that when you actuallylook at all of them talk about
everything is one, everything'sconnected, connected, you know,
um you have free choice, youhave free will, but your your
opportunity or your goal is togo to a higher purpose, raise

(20:22):
your vibration, you know, belive in gratitude, live in love,
you know, uh and and uh youknow, be grateful for everything
you have.
Uh so uh gratitude, love andforgiveness, forgiving yourself
and others for for stuff becausewe're we're human, we make
mistakes, we we might and youknow all of the religions have

(20:47):
versions of that.
And and but what's happened isthat the human in us has
separated that all through youknow ego, it's been sort of
cloudy and blocked.
And and then that's why you haveyou know the differences and uh
or people say, Oh, this is rightand that's wrong.

(21:09):
But at least I meanTaoistically, when you look at
the bigger picture, it's alljust experience, it's all about
you know, we go through allthese trials and tribulations to
go, yeah, I've learned for that,or I've learned this for that,
or I don't want to do thatagain.
And you know, it's the wholeidea, it's just to grow it's
growth.

(21:30):
For me, the meaning of life isexperience and growth, and you
go on again.
I mean, again, there's evidenceshowing reincarnation.
There's over 80,000 case studiesuh of reincarnation in in
hypnosis and actual childrensaying I remember being here and
they've gone and gone and doneprivate eyes and testing now.

(21:53):
Normally if you have 30,000 casestudies, something peer
reviewed, and science will say,Well, there's enough evidence to
show that it's true.
They don't want to admit thattheir reincarnation is true
because it changes things, itwould change a lot of stuff if
we were to go, but actually, there's evidence to show you you

(22:17):
you do live again and you areconnected, and you go, because
atheism is all about oh no, no,no, there is no there is no
afterlife, there is no this,it's only the here and now,
baby.
And it's like, yeah, there'svery interesting.

SPEAKER_01 (22:31):
You know, I remember uh before I came here, and as
long as I've been alive, I'vetalked about this in some
podcasts or interviews.
As long as I've been alive, uhgoing all the way back as long
as I can remember, even being incrib, I would think about the
conversation I had before I camehere.
And I wouldn't have told anybodythat until I had my spiritual

(22:53):
awakening because I, you know, Ilearned really young that
information was power and thatpeople would use any of those
experiences that I had, likepsychic experiences, they would
use them against me.
Well, especially in the 1970sand the in the South.
What are you kidding?
I've been crucified, sent to theloony bin.
And uh um anyway, and now Idon't give a crap what anybody

(23:14):
thought.
I just do not care.
Um, it's just it's the truth.
And uh some of the things that Iknew as a child, like I knew I
would uh I was like an oldperson in a child's body.
I had the the the eyes and thethoughts that that were very
unlike a lot of the otherchildren that I knew.
Now, granted, I did grow up verydifficult and trauma

(23:36):
traumatizing, but this goes backto being in a crib.
This is before I got to theorphanage.
Um, and I actually feel veryfortunate to have remembered
that because it became a part ofwhen I did finally decide it was
time to heal and wake up, itbecame a part of um of me
accepting, you know, my ownhistory, but as well as what
people human beings are capableof.

(23:57):
So in your practices, as ourlast last question, um uh in
your practices, you know, are iseverything that you do, because
I know you do quite a fewpractices you've been studying
for many years and teaching formany years, is this about
helping your students or yourclients um achieve higher
consciousness, happiness?
Like what's really the for youthe goal of all the work that
you're doing?

SPEAKER_00 (24:19):
Yes.
Um you know, yes, I mean the thethe biggest thing ultimately,
and and and you know, it's sortof like um well, it's not so
secret now.
I'm about to tell you, but it'ssort of my my my secret goal is
to raise people's vibration, raise their their awareness, get

(24:41):
them to lean back, and that's asort of Taoist concept is when
you lean back, you see thebigger picture, and and so when
you disconnect from the monkey, the monkey mind, the forebrain,
where you have 60 to 90,000thoughts, which keep you in the
present moment and keep thatkeep you running around like uh
in a hamster wheel when youactually start to see the bigger

(25:03):
picture and you look at yourpast life and you go, Well, hold
up, you know, there's that realcrappy stuff, but that's led to
this, and like and and I wouldsay, like, for you and anybody
that's been through lots ofhorrific trauma, you're still
here, you're freaking awesome.
You're you're so much strongerthan you freaking realize

(25:24):
because you're still freakinghere, you know.
Other people would have given upa long time ago, and it's that's
the sort of thing I do is thatlike sort of teach people how,
yes, you know, I have certainpreferences or certain
techniques that work for me, butmy goal is actually to give you
the tools to figure out foryourself and give you the tools
to grow and expand.

(25:44):
And if you want to do it thisway through the Shundao way,
that's cool.
But if it just helps you alongyour path, and there's plenty of
people over the years, last 40years that have started off on
doing my done and then gone offin their other ways.
But for me, I don't care uhwhether you choose my path or
not, it's about you doing thepath that works for you and

(26:08):
doing the path that helps yougrow and expand.
So, like I said, short answer, yes.

SPEAKER_01 (26:13):
Love that.
It's so important, you guys.
You know, raising your ownconsciousness is the most
important thing that you can do,doing the shadow work, taking
care of your mind, body, andsoul.
Look, we're all human, we allhave our moments, but if you
just keep moving forward, youyou help raise the frequency and
vibration of the entire planet.
And ultimately, that's reallylike you know, do you're the

(26:34):
goal here is it's wonderful tohelp your community, but if you
help yourself, that's really uhthe that's the assignment.

SPEAKER_00 (26:42):
100%, especially when a lot of people were taught
that's selfish, you know, looking after you is selfish,
and I know the especially in thefemale community community, it's

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
