What if your body already holds the blueprint for healing, and your job is to remove friction and feed the system what it needs? We sit down with Dr. Mark Armstrong of the Ahikim Center in Roswell, Georgia, a naturopathy doctor who has guided clients since 1992 using herbs, homeopathics, movement, nutrition, and a strong metaphysical foundation. Rather than chasing the next pill or protocol, Mark invites us to trust the “inner healer” and build a plan that blends practical habits with a clear mindset.

We walk through common myths about natural care, especially the allure of quick fixes. Mark breaks down how true prevention works: consistent whole foods, simple exercise, restorative sleep, and targeted botanicals that match the person, not just the symptom. He explains why affirmations, guided imagery, and visualization are more than nice ideas—they reshape stress responses, improve adherence, and reinforce the belief that change is possible. The conversation also touches on the pull of screens, the value of time outdoors, and how grounding habits like walking under trees can calm kids and adults alike.

What stands out is the simplicity and access. Mark’s practice has grown by word of mouth, centered on results and relationships. If you’re curious where to begin, he suggests small, repeatable steps: hydrate before caffeine, take a post-meal walk, upgrade one meal, and write a single affirmation to anchor your goal. Those small wins compound, helping you avoid the “dark night of the soul” and move toward steadier health.

SPEAKER_01 (00:46):
Well, I am a naturopathy doctor.
I've been serving the Atlantaarea since 1992.
And I'm located in Roswell,Georgia.
And naturopathy medicine issomething that predates Western
medicine.
We don't really use anypharmaceutical drugs.
We believe that the body canheal itself and that herbs and

(01:09):
homeopathics and vitamins andexercise and affirmation and
just spirituality can take careof the inner healer and support
the inner healer inside of you.
That's who's doing the healing.

SPEAKER_02 (01:24):
I remember watching a documentary with um the um Dr.
Kellogg years ago.

SPEAKER_01 (01:32):
Yes.

SPEAKER_02 (01:33):
Um, what are some of the myths and misconception of
the industry?

SPEAKER_01 (01:37):
Well, uh, some of the misconceptions is that you
can take a drug and it's goingto fix everything that's going
on.
And in naturopathy, we believethat the body can heal itself,
that there's an innate healer.
And most people really just wantquick fixes.
And naturopathy delivers that, but it's also a partnership.

(02:01):
And the myth is that you cantake a pill and heal yourself.
And naturopathy, we know thatyour body can heal itself or
relieve itself with the propernutrition, diet, exercise, and
quality of life, which isconnected to your spirit.

SPEAKER_02 (02:20):
Isn't there a point where you're getting so bad
where you need something or youmay die?

SPEAKER_01 (02:26):
Well, there's there's points where you get to
the I call it the uh you know, the night of the dark end night
of the soul, and yeah, you feellike that, but you can do all
things through the inner healerwithin you, and especially if
you get the right information, the right information, and you

(02:47):
start in a preventative way.
The body can do amazing things,so you never get there to the
dark night of the soul.

SPEAKER_02 (02:56):
We know marketing is the heart of every business.
Um, who are your target umclients and how do you attract
them?

SPEAKER_01 (03:05):
Well, most of our work is just word of mouth, and
so we haven't really had amarketing campaign.
And uh, Garfield Brown, when weheard about the Good Neighbors
podcast, we thought that mightbe a great opportunity.
We've never really advertised, and yet we've done extremely

(03:27):
well.

SPEAKER_02 (03:28):
Um, have you ever thought about doing your own
podcast?

SPEAKER_01 (03:34):
I would love to, as a matter of fact.
I would love to.

SPEAKER_02 (03:40):
Now, I I know you are busy being a doctor.
You're not so busy with yourpractice.
What do you like to do for fun?

SPEAKER_01 (03:49):
Well, I have uh a nine-year-old niece, and
sometimes she stays with us, andwe ride bicycles, we get
outdoors and wash cars and playin the garden, and and try to
spend as much time outside andless time inside, and that makes
me feel good.

SPEAKER_02 (04:10):
Yeah, that that back in the days that's what it used
to be, but now we have thesecomputer games and social media
is hard, and depending on whereyou live, um, you know, yeah,
she has all that, but weminimize it by just trying to be
in nature.

SPEAKER_01 (04:26):
You see, the radiation, the 5G that comes off
of that is it's enough todistort your your consciousness.
And you know, she could be alittle ad, but when she's
grounding out in those big treesand walking barefoot, that takes
a lot of that radiation off ofher, and you can see the
difference.
She is still just like we usedto be outdoors with our our

(04:51):
family and our grandparents.

SPEAKER_02 (04:54):
Football, basketball, volleyball, yeah,
that's that those are importantstuff.
Those are the good old days, yeah.
Yes, sir.
Those are the good old days.
Uh, this show is more of apeek-able, but for um those
listeners, if you were to narrowdown to one thing, what is the
one thing they should rememberabout a heat came center?

SPEAKER_01 (05:17):
Uh, the one thing that really stands out is that
we are very metaphysical.
We believe that you can healyour life.
And affirmations are important, guided imagery, visualization is
very important, and the rightprotocol is important.

SPEAKER_02 (05:36):
Yeah, our listeners hearing you now today have one

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
