SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Lila Carter.
SPEAKER_02 (00:13):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of achiropractic clinic?
One might be closer than youthink.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Dr.
Dave Redzeris with PittsburghUpper Cervical Chiropractic.
Dr.
Dave, how's it going?
SPEAKER_01 (00:32):
It's going good,
Lila.
Thanks for having me on.
SPEAKER_02 (00:34):
Thanks for being
here.
We're excited to learn all aboutyou and your business.
So please tell us more aboutyour practice.
SPEAKER_01 (00:41):
Sure.
So we actually, it's my wife andI that own the practice.
Her name is Dr.
Martina Carlini.
We're co-owners and doctors, andour practice is called
Pittsburgh Upper CervicalChiropractic.
Our goal is to provide safe, effective, personalized,
specific upper cervicalchiropractic care, with the goal
being using fewer adjustments todeliver lasting results for the
(01:05):
entire family.
So we've actually been uh doingthis for more than 17 years.
We've had the privilege ofcaring for thousands of people
in the greater Pittsburghcommunity, helping them find
relief, restore their health, and most importantly, maintain
it for the long term.
SPEAKER_02 (01:20):
I love also that you
guys get to share that together
and build that legacy together.
That's amazing.
So, how did you get into thisbusiness, Dr.
Dave?
SPEAKER_01 (01:31):
Good question.
So I first got introduced tochiropractic when I was in
college.
Um I was studying molecular andmicrobiology at the University
of Central Florida.
Um, and at the time I wasworking as a pharmacy
technician, and I just saw howpeople would just be, you know,
taking different medications fortreating a variety of different
symptoms.
(01:52):
And I just thought I started toquestion that concept.
So uh personally, I had severalhealth struggles that actually
began to resolve as I shiftedaway from the traditional kind
of medical care and went moretowards like a holistic model.
I found that I didn't get sickas often, sometimes if ever.
Um I had improvements in mydigestion.
(02:13):
Um, and then, you know, that'show I got into introduced to
chiropractic.
And then what really um kind ofmade a lasting impression on me
for upper cervical care was Ihad gotten an adjustment,
received my first upper cervicaladjustment, and I was actually
holding that adjustment a weeklater.
And typically I'd go to myregular full-spine chiropractor
(02:34):
and I'd need to get adjustedtwo, sometimes three times a
week.
So that like was really kind ofimpactful for me.
SPEAKER_02 (02:41):
Absolutely.
Yeah, I know personally I'veseen the effects of a good
adjustment and it can changeyour whole day, can't it?
SPEAKER_01 (02:49):
Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02 (02:50):
Yeah, very nice.
And so are there any myths ormaybe misconceptions in your
industry that you'd like to talkabout today?
SPEAKER_01 (02:59):
Absolutely.
I'd say a common misconceptionis, you know, I think some
people were hesitant to startchiropractic care because they
feel like they have to do it forthe rest of their lives.
Um, I will say that if we do agood enough job, you might feel
like you want to integrate itand for good reason.
So my family and I have made thechoice to receive chiropractic
care for the rest of our lives.
(03:21):
And, you know, I try and bridgethat gap and help to bring our
patients to that point wherethey find that why that's an
important thing to consider.
But that doesn't mean gettingchecked, getting adjusted three
times a week for the rest ofyour life.
Sometimes it might just meangetting checked once a month or
once every couple of months.
Ultimately, it just depends onhow well the patient's holding
their adjustment.
(03:42):
Um, so that's actually one ofthe great benefits of what we do
with upper cervical chiropracticcare.
Many of our patients get to apoint where they're actually
holding their adjustments forlong periods of time.
So they don't need to be checkedand adjusted as often.
Um, and and and people likethat.
SPEAKER_02 (03:58):
Very good.
And who are your targetcustomers and how are you
attracting them to thechiropractic clinic currently?
SPEAKER_01 (04:05):
That's a good
question.
So, right now, our targetcustomers are really um anyone
that is struggling with healthconcerns.
So uh a lot of times we get alot of patients who are
apprehensive about receivinglike a traditional type of
adjustment.
And so we offer a uh a morespecific approach where there's
(04:26):
not all the twisting and thecracking and the popping
sometimes associated with um,you know, different types of
techniques.
Um, and so we work with, I wouldsay the most tight, the most
common type of people that wesee are going to be women um,
you know, that have kids thathave extra stress in their life,
they're having dizziness,they're having vertigo, they're
(04:49):
having migraines, neck pain, back pain, um, and they're
looking for a natural, holisticway to address that.
And uh that's who we that's whowe typically target.
And we usually get our patientsthrough, they find us via social
media, they find us via ourwebsite, um, they uh they get
referred in by other um othermedia like TikTok.
(05:11):
Um somebody will be on TikToktalking about the benefits of
upper cervical, and then we'llum, you know, they'll they'll do
a search, you know, uppercervical chiropractor near me or
upper cervical Pittsburgh, andthen we show up and they come
in, we have a conversation, wesee if we can help them.
SPEAKER_02 (05:28):
It makes sense that
a lot of your target market is
women because of the stress ofmotherhood on the spine is quite
real.
I mean, even I'm an aunt and Iknow if I lift the kids wrong or
kind of twerk my back the wrongway, I mean, I'm out for a
couple days, you know, if not aweek.
So that's totallyunderstandable.
(05:49):
Um, and so have you ever thoughtabout maybe doing your own
podcasts to reach your targetaudience?
SPEAKER_01 (05:56):
Yeah, I've I've
discussed that with my wife
because I always wonder, like, you know, obviously the
questions uh around surroundingdoing your own podcast is like
who are you reaching, who'sgonna listen to that message,
how far, you know, is thatmessage getting out, and um, and
who's actually interested inlike listening to you know,
(06:17):
chiropractor talk about, youknow, health.
I just I I always wonder aboutthe market for that, but I do
think it's interesting.
I mean, I I know I listen topodcasts, I'm sure you do too,
Lila.
I'm sure lots of your listenerslisten to podcasts.
That's why we're here.
Um, so yeah, it's definitelysomething that we've discussed,
um, even just having somethinglike a you know, a regular show
(06:40):
that people can kind of tune in,connect, and get to know us a
little bit better and work withus, you know, um, you know, or
even get to know us a little bitbetter even before they start
working with us.
SPEAKER_02 (06:51):
Absolutely.
Yeah, I think more and morewe're seeing people push towards
holistic approaches, right?
And away from um traditional ormaybe modern medicine.
Um, and so I love that you canaddress them directly in a sort
of format like this one.
Um, and so outside of work, Dr.
(07:11):
Dave, what do you do for fun?
SPEAKER_01 (07:13):
Sure.
So uh typical stuff.
Um, you know, um usually it'sjust hanging out with family.
Um love hanging out with myfamily, Dr.
Martina.
And then we have three beautifulchildren, Augustino, Natalia,
and Giovanna.
Um, I also like personally justgoing for walks, exercising, uh,
enjoy sitting down with my kidsand watching, you know, movies,
(07:34):
uh, comedies, superhero movies.
Right now, the big buzz in ourhousehold is K-pop demon
hunters.
So we're uh we're we're blastingthat soundtrack and watching
that movie a couple times.
SPEAKER_02 (07:46):
Very cool.
So, Dr.
Dave, please tell our listenersone thing that they should
remember about Pittsburgh uppercervical chiropractic.
SPEAKER_01 (07:57):
Hmm, that's that's a
good question.
I would say one thing toremember is that not every
chiropractic uh office is thesame.
So everyone's gonna have everydoctor, every patient's gonna
have unique experiences.
And that that's not unique toour profession.
But what's what stands out, Ithink, for us for upper cervical
(08:17):
is like when you come into ouroffice, we don't treat you like
a number.
We sit down, sometimes we spenda little too much time just
talking with you, getting toknow you better, getting to
understand what brought you intothe office.
So I would say like the lastingimpression is that if you come
into our office or even if youjust talk with me on the phone,
you're gonna get a real personwho's gonna listen to you
(08:38):
genuinely and get to understandyou, um, pay attention to your
problem and maybe offer somesuggestions and be a partner
with you.
Even if you decide not to workwith us, we'll try and help you
find who you can work with thatmight be closer to you.
SPEAKER_02 (08:53):
Absolutely.
Well, thank you for the helpthat you're providing the
citizens of Pittsburgh andgetting to the root of their
issues and their pain.
Um, it's so important for somany people here.
So I appreciate you.
unknown (09:05):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (09:06):
Yeah, thank you.
SPEAKER_01 (09:06):
I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_02 (09:07):

listeners learn more about
Pittsburgh cervical, uppercervical chiropractic?
