time for me to shut the hellup and turn this over to the real
hosts of Baseball Brunch. Yeah.First of all, Quimby, thank you
for giving us this opportunity, uhto do this show to here today in
front of this great crowd, beautifulballpark, beautiful weather. I mean I
would have really, I really wishwe did this yesterday. I agree,

(07:26):
you know, it would have beena lot as fun. Yes, yeah,
yeah, but I'll tell you man, like uh, you know,
every opportunity that you give us forus to have the opportunity to knock it
out of the ballpark, with theshow. Uh, Murf and I are
always always up for it. SoUH, first and foremost, thank you
to quimby partner. It's great beingback with you. I'll tell you,
man, I didn't know if wewere going to get this opportunity for us

(07:46):
to do this again. Uh.Last season it didn't quite end the way
we wanted it to. But uh, I don't remember. Well, we're
gonna dive into a ransomy goor memory. Yeah, but you know what,
you need a short memory in sports. But you're right, it did not
end the way we want it.But that's what that's what opening Day is
all about, right absolutely. Imean, hope springs eternal here and so
that's where I want to start withyou, Murph. I want to start

(08:07):
off with how it ended last year, because you've been with the team the
last month and a half down therein clear Water and you're the one that's
around the team in the clubhouse feelingthe vibes. What's going on with these
players? I know personally I saidthis probably that we were doing a player
show, you know, during Eagleseason, right after the Phillies season ended,
and we were talking about the Philliesat the beginning of the show,

(08:28):
and I said it was probably mygreatest sports disappointment that I've had in my
lifetime. And listen, I mean, I just turned thirty eight. There's
a lot of them, you know. Yes, there's a lot to pick
Yeah, there's a lot to pickfrom up. But I'll tell you the
way it ended, being up twoto zero in the NLCS, leaving here,
going to Arizona for three and watchingthe bullpen falter in games three and
four, and then Wheeler doing histhing in Game five, and coming back

(08:52):
here knowing that we have six andseven right here in our backyard, with
Nola and Ranger Sworez on the moundfor six and seven. I still say
to this day, and I'll probablysay this for the rest of my life
unless they win the World Series thisyear, and I'll feel a lot better
about the situation that missed opportunity lastyear. It could come back and bite
this team. It could come backand bite this ball club. And now

(09:13):
here we are on opening day.You know, it's March twenty ninth,
and we have to push that boulderback up from ground zero up to the
top of the hill. I knowhow I feel as a fan being around
the players, how do they feelknowing that they have to try and get
that boulder back up to the topof the mountaintop. Yeah. Will you
know the fact that we're talking onopening day about getting back to the World

(09:33):
Series is awesome. Yeah. Ithink that's a good thing because they're in
a ball Busters twa time. There'stwenty other teams that are have an opening
Day or had it yesterday that aren'ttalking about getting to the World Series.
So, you know, being inthe conversation I think is first and foremost.
But to answer your question, Ithink the guys feel like there's unfinished

(09:54):
business. I know that everybody thatwas involved in that last year. I
don't want they was surprised because thegames played out the way they did.
But when we left for Arizona,I remember being on the plane and talking
to the guys and saying, youknow, all right, well if we
finished this in four you know,we can do this this and this or

(10:15):
and and and right. That wasthe topic. Absolutely was Were you talking
about the pool too, like AaronStubbs was, Well, no, I
didn't talk about the pool. I'vebeen in that pool. I don't ever
want to go in there to gameas long as you were never at the
hard rock rehab pool. Right,I don't think I was at that.
You don't want to, I probablydo not girl girls walking in and get

(10:35):
waste. Ben, you're pregnant,Okay. Anyway, I think I think
what the basic vibe is this yearis we've got work to do. It's
not going to be easy to getback. But look around the twenty six
guys in this room. We canwin a World Series. And it's a
long, long road. You can'ttake anything for granted. But you hope

(10:58):
you're back in the post season. And yeah, you hope you win it
again this year. You win itthis year? All right? You already
know that I'm the Debbie Downer inthis entire group. And then you look
at Mackenzie over at the bar andeverything seems to be okay. Thank you
there you are. Thank you fortaking off the jacket finally, Mackenzie.
Jeez, I do want to I'mI'm sorry. I First of all,

(11:26):
I hate agreeing with Sack. Yeah, I hate agreeing. I hate agreeing
with Diaz more. But uh,I'd like to give you guys are consummate
baseball fans, and I think weall are you know, I'm not a
baseball fan. I'm a Phillies fan. I don't give a damn about any

(11:46):
other team, you know, otherthan paying attention to the Mets losing their
crap in September. You know what. Hold on a second, Thank you
New York for doing everything you normallydo in September. All right, you're
awesome, New York Mets and NewYork Mets fans. Kiss my Dick Cheney.

(12:07):
Anyway I can get away with thismy show, anyway, to be
to be completely blunt and serious.Oh, you're just gonna start being blunt
now, okay, gotcha, letme let me work that down. I
am excited because I do love baseball. I love being able from this day

(12:35):
forward to know that almost every dayuntil the end of September, I get
to watch one of my Philadelphia sportsteams, regardless of the fact that I
live down in Florida. Now,it's great, I love it, all
right, But honestly, the lasttwo years, two years ago, all

(12:56):
right, I get it, housemoney, house mouse money, man,
I mean, but this year,God, I gotta be honest with you.
Stuff, little little little bit ofwind out of my sales. And
this is what I want to askboth of you, and then I promise
I will sort of shut up forthe rest of the show. Thank you.
I don't. I don't think youdid enough in this offseason to get

(13:22):
this team to be to be anyany better than where it was. And
and hold on hold on. Firstof all, I do like Aaron Nola,
I do, but I do notwant him taking the mound when a
series, regardless of its divisional,NLCS or World Series, I don't want

(13:43):
him taking the hill. I don'tthink he has the stones for it.
And you just signed him for thenext seven years. And what else with
Meryfield that might be your best freeagent signing other well, then hold on,
hold on other than Nola, II just I don't. I don't

(14:03):
think there's enough horses in the stableright now. And I mean, Murph,
I know you can't answer this question, but you can't Zack Sack.
You can. Do you feel likeNola's a number two? I don't.
I think he's a three. Imean, if you look at nod thank
you Slash, if you look atNola's career postseason statistics, I mean,

(14:24):
outside of the outside of the WorldSeries, A couple of years ago.
And I don't care about his postseasonstats. That's where I want to know
what he's doing when the game andthe season is on the law. But
that's where it matters, which isin the postseason. I mean, oh,
the one game they handed the ballto him in Game six and he
gave up two dingers in the secondinning. But even then the offense didn
show up the rest. You're rightthere, there's but there's too many strikeouts

(14:48):
in this lineup. And all right, I'm done. That's what I have
to say. Go ahead, I'mhappy that you agreed with me. Okay,
So here's here's what I would say. You know, it's it's easy
to to kind of take a lookback and and and say all the stuff
you're saying. Great, But Aaronolahas been and will continue to be over
the next couple of years, oneof the best pictures in baseball. You

(15:11):
want to call him a two,you want to call him a three,
It doesn't that doesn't matter. Whatmatters is that when you when you break
it down and you look at picturesin the National League, Aaronola is in
the top twelve ten. Yeah, and and and and so agree, and
you have Zach Wheeler on this,on this, in this rotation, and
he is in the top ten topAnd I agree, you have a guy

(15:33):
named Ranger Suarez who has an opportunityto cry. I agree, But if
the series is on the line andit's not Zach, I'm giving the ball
to Ranger before I'm giving it toAaron. And that and you always signed
Ranger to a one year deal andthat's all. Doesn't show a lot of
commitment now to a guy who's beenpretty excellent for that's just that's just arbitration.
Yeah, that's just celebratration. Business. They still have, They still

(15:54):
would lock his ass up for fivemore. Guess what they might. And
and so I guess what I'm sayingis and I often have to say this
to you, and and sometimes mypartner's back over here. Pump the brakes
a little bit, because you know, one sixty two is one sixty two.
It's a long season. Brother,it's tough pumping the brakes when we

(16:14):
were full accelerator literally four months ago. I get that the signing of Aaron
Nola was absolutely imperative for this teamto continue on. Ready, I believe
you're no. One, no,no, no, no, no,
I love the contract signing. Yougot him for nothing, for what you
first? I had nothing? Then? Not one hundred and eight million?

(16:37):
Sounds good to men. A second, all right, we're talking about a
history of pitchers like Cliff Lee andDoc they're getting twenty five to thirty million.
All right, you you you gotNola for next to nothing. But
the reason you got him for nextto nothing is I believe for the reasons
I'm explaining right now. If youready, here we go. All right.

(17:00):
First of all, I'm glad, you know, I don't care about
the Castillo brothers. I'm glad theygot rid of Craig kimberrel I. I
you know, I'm Okay's edition bysubtraction whatever. But right now, I
don't believe this team as it standsgets a World Series victory. We're not
talking about going to the World Seriesat this point. Not getting it.

(17:22):
Getting there's not enough unless you havea legitimate second ace in this lineup.
I don't think you're getting there. All right, So tell me the teams
that that you believe have a secondlegitimate ace in the in their in the
red. I'm gonna immediately say,I don't know a damn thing about what
I'm talking. Here's what I'll tellyou. There aren't There aren't many,

(17:45):
right, There might be three orfour teams, and the Phillies are one
of them. So to to saythat the Phillies don't have a second ace,
that is first all. First ofall, we can we can make
an argument for the Braves, butwe've been bitch slapping them for the last
couple of years. Hold On,do we have any Braves fans here?
I haven't seen a single one.I have not I have any Wait,

(18:08):
hold on, do we have anyCowboys fans here? Both of you are
freaking frauds. Anyway, Sorry,I'm done. I've said what I had
to say. I just I think. I don't. I don't, I
don't want. Nola was in therotation for game six, and I was

(18:33):
hold on, I was cautiously optimistic, and I thought if this was if
this was going to define his career, it would. But the thing is,
though, as you're talking about himbeing on the mountain game six,
the guy that you wanted on themount in game six, pitch game seven
and the Bats and then show up, so like if you can't sit there,
Jack, pitch game seven with howmany days rest he came in after

(18:55):
ranger pitch and the game was alreadylost in the bats in the hit how
many days rest a couple of Everybody'snot what he's supposed to have. Everybody
wants. Like I had to hearall last October about starting Zach Wheeler on
short rest. That's not something thathe does. That's not something that that
Major League Baseball is really implementing anymore. What you saw in the two thousand
and nine Old Series is not somethingthat happens every single day. That where

(19:15):
the Yankees just went with Sabathia,Burnett and pettit and that was it.
Like, this is not the wayit happens anymore. You have to have
a legit guy that's able to startthat fourth game and then space the guys
out and let them let them gowith their bullets on full rest. Yeah,
I just keep going back to thesame thing. It's there are there
are some teams in Major League Baseball. There's thirty teams. There's only a

(19:37):
handful of them that could even havethe conversation today about being in the postseason
and winning a World Series. ThisPhillies team is one of them. We
both know that absolutely, and theyou know, last year it was a
difficult way to lose. It wasa difficult way to end the season.
But you'd rather be there than notbe in the game and not be in
the mix. And we experienced nineyears of not being in the Now we're

(20:00):
back in the mix, and theteam that they put together can be a
world serious champion team. And that'sall you want on day one of one
sixty two to be in the conversation. This team is in the conversation and
in a lot of ways driving theconversation. So yeah, and that's part
of my next point that I wantto make to you is that I'd like

(20:21):
the fact that this and that pointwill be made very well when we come
back from break everybody. Echelon Healthand Fitness, located in Vorhees and Audubond,

Guys, a special edition of BaseballBrunts here for the Philly's home opener.
Sack Murph, take it away.Sure is special, no doubt about
it. It is best. I'mthinking best quarter office in the business right
right now. Absolutely yeah, itis. It is right here on the

(24:51):
corner. I love it, gottalove it for sure. So this lineup,
as we were alluding to, aswe were going in to break this
lineup, and this roster as awhole, is largely intact. I mean,
you know, bringing back Aaron Dolaas you're two in the rotation,
uh, you know, not reallyadding to the rotation yet. I'm a
little bit disappointed the fact that theDiamondbacks added Jordan Montgomery to their starting rotation

(25:11):
along with Wardo Rodriguez, who eventuallywill take the mound for them at some
point this season. I would haveliked to have made that addition, but
with Mary Field coming off the benchbeing a utility guy, a really great
utility guy. I mean, theguy is, you know, over two
hundred hits multiple times, batting titles, career batting average two eighty right,

(25:33):
well, three sixty four in springtraining at last I saw. But this
team is largely intact. And that'swhat Deeve Dombrowski in his ownership group.
They're letting them run it back andthis core is locked down largely for the
next two seasons. The window hasbeen the last couple of years. But
and I know, listen, youknow you have Trey Turner signed long term.
Whe will have just signed a threeyear extension. You got Nolan's for

(25:55):
seven years and probably is going tobe here for another eight years. I
think you have the kids that arehere on arbitration like Bowman sock whatnot real
fast but largely Mike Ignlish in theuseis wearing a belt. This team is
largely in tech. With this coregroup for the next two years, the
time to strike is now, butthey are putting it on the players who
have been here and experienced that failurethe last two years. Yeah, and

(26:18):
you know, I hear the talkabout the window and it's accurate. Right.
You know, you have this opportunityover the next two seasons. You
think with this core group to geta World Series, maybe get to But
I but I also think, reallywe need to be looking and thinking just
about right now because what we doknow is this ownership group is going to
go out and do whatever it takesthree years from now, four years from

(26:40):
now, five years from now, keep filling in the holes. So just
win with the guys you have nowand you can wait. That's what we've
been talking about. I could beas a question, no, I do
have a comment, and then no, no. While I've been scrutinizing,
I want to say, at thesame time, baseball in philadelph Field right

(27:00):
now feels like it did in themid two thousands. Correct, you know
that there's an opportunity where I amgiving a little bit of grief this team.
It's not like football, all right, when you go to a super
Bowl, you have a one totwo year window to go back because the

(27:23):
players that are getting you there arenot signed to long term contracts like they
are in baseball. And I dolike what the Phillies are doing by signing
all of these players to long termdeals. I do. It's something that
we missed for Murph Sach we couldsay a better part of a decade close
to and guess what where I feeljust a little you know, angst time,

(27:52):
always anxiety, always animosity. I'mhappy to know that regardless, and
let's con in or what happened lastyear. They didn't start off very well
eight two years they and they andthey pulled it out at the end,
giggoty, but stop. I lovethe fact that this team is prepped for

(28:12):
a run for a very long time. Yeah. And that's the goal,
right, I mean when they broughtDave Dombrowski here as the president of Baseball
Operations, the goal was not tojust be a flash in the pan,
not to win a World Series andthen go into a decade of the client.
Again, it was build a system, build a farm system that keeps

(28:33):
feeding the major league club, andthen add the free agents in when you
can with the money that the ownershipgroup allows. And that's kind of where
they're at right now. And that'swhat we saw this year in the offseason.
Fill the holes with some money, give some young players a chance,
and run it back with a verytalented group of guys. So that's what
we're looking at. I want tosay you mentioned with Marryfield. Second,

(28:56):
I think Billy's fans are going tolove this guy in love with with Merrifield.
He plays the game. But let'sbe honest. Let's be honest,
all right, since the injury twoyears ago, a bit of a decline.
He's not stealing as many bags.He won't as he was in you
know, nineteen and twenty one whenhe was an All Star contact. But

(29:18):
once again, actually and you know, where does he fit in? I
get that, but the fact isthe guy's a two to eighty career hitter
that every time he's in the lineup, it alleviates a lot of the strikeouts
that are in this lineup. Andhe also is a nice insurance policy just

(29:41):
in case Johann Rohaus struggles out thegate with his bat and and at that
point you can move marsh over tocenter, you can put him in left.
The ideal thing for this team andfor this lineup is that Rojas hits
enough to keep that glove in thelineup and Marsh out and left field,
and then at that point Marry Field. For me, when you're going up
against a tough right handed starting pitcherlike a Zach Gallan, like, I'm

(30:04):
a little surprised. I know today'sopening day. Spencer Strider to me,
like a mar should be in centerfield and Meryfield who can get that contact
at the in left field today.I understand it's opening day, I've got
the pageantry, and this is gonnabe our lineup moving forward. But having
him here is a huge benefit forthis roster, for this lineup, and

(30:26):
it gives you that insurance policy justin case Johan needs to go down to
Triple A and refine his offensive skills. Yeah, and you know, obviously
that's not the plan. They hopethat doesn't happen, but you're right in
it all of the But here's whatI would say, I think wit Maryfield
is gonna find time. Rob Thompson'sgonna find time for wit Maryfield to play.
I think you're gonna see him threeit's four times a week. It's
short, at least it is,but it has to be. But what's

(30:48):
gonna play at third base? He'sgonna play at second base. You can
play left field, he can play, he could play multiple positions. He
can play virtually. Yes, Sohe's going to get his opportunities. And
Rob Thompson knows he's got himself aballplayer on the bench, and and he's
going to deploy him, by theway, one of the better utility players

(31:10):
that this team is signed in along long time, no doubt about it.
And I think I don't want toI don't want to age myself.
But Greg Gross, well yeah, well I'm right there with you. You're
a big Tomas Perezka, Greg, what you need guys like a bitch to
win and and and the Phils.I love to sign it. I love
it. I absolutely love it.I'm right there with absolutely. Year eight

(31:32):
million is it's a team options fora second year steal. Just some of
the quick hits I want to getwith you on about this team coming out
of spring training. Uh, BryceHarper missed the last almost the last week.
You missed the whole week of springtraining, came back in for the
last few games. Uh, backissues. No home runs during the course
of spring training. I know Brycewill be ready when the lights go on

(31:55):
at three o'clock today, But isthere any concern coming out of Phillies If
I know Topper said zero? None? You being around a team, what
have you picked up with Bryce andthat back injury. None? Zero,
I think is the way I wouldsay, there's there's no concern. At
the end of the day. Thatthe number one priority for Rob Thompson and
his coaching staff and the players inspring training was let's get out of here

(32:21):
healthy, right, And if therewas any twinge, any little hiccup,
any anything that was causing anybody anyconcern, it was all right, back
off. You don't need the swingshere. Bryce is fine, Brice is
one hundred percent. He is readyto go. And to your point,
when the lights go on at threeoh five, would not surprise me in
the least bit if he does somethingspecial today, right? You know,

(32:44):
Yeah, he had no home runsduring spring training, but he went through
that draft last year where he hadI forget how many games where he didn't
hit all five and then and thenboom turned the switch and turned it on
and he was outstanding. That's BryceHarper. That's the kind of you don't
have to worry about Bryce. Along as he's healthy, he'll be good.
And he is all starting pitching deathcoming out of spring training. Uh,

(33:04):
not that it was thin to beginwith. I think at some point
along the line we're going to seeuh, mick Abel number two and our
system. Mckabel is going to makean impact on this team at some point
this season. Unfortunately it's not atthe beginning. So with Taiwan Walker being
out with the shoulder soreness, uhhey, how long is he going to
be down for? And then wealready know that Spencer Turnbull is going to
be in the rotation in his placefor the time being. Yeah, yeah,

(33:28):
I don't the answer to how longTaiwand is going to be out.
You know, it's it's something,it's a concern. It is a big
contract. Yeah, it's it's slungsay that again, going to be out
longer than the Playoffs'll say that?Yeah, So yeah, it is,
it is a concern because if nothingelse, you need a guy like Taiwan

(33:49):
to eda binnings and and offer death. But you know, Spencer Turnbull is
going to get his opportunity. Theguy's got great stuff. Staying healthy for
him has been an issue over hiscareer. He probably hates hearing that because
that's been the knock on him.But just like Nola used to say with
September, yeah so so. Butbut Turnbull is a pretty good option to
have. And then to your point, they do have a little bit of

(34:09):
depth down in a Triple A tocome up and help the team adet.
But you gotta stay healthy. Everyteam that's gonna win a World Series is
gonna look back at the season andsay, you know what, we stayed
healthy. That's the most important thing. Tywan Walker not being healthy. He's
not great. But this, thisrotation is pretty darn good. As we
start here on whatever day today isMarch twenty eighth or whatever, or ninth

(34:31):
or so, I think you gottafeel pretty good about the rotation in general.
A couple of minutes here, MLBdot com has ranked the Phillies bullpen
number one in all Major League Baseball. I still hey, It's just come
a long way. What's more importantis Afro Dannis here? What's up?
He wait where? I'm still alittle bothered by the fact that we don't

(34:52):
have the legit guy that's gonna hammerit down in the ninth inning for the
Phillies. A closer, you know, a bona fide guy that's gonna be
yes. But oh Ryan Kirkering, what kind of illness did he have in
spring training that kept him on theshelf there for what three weeks? And
now he's starting out in the injuredlist? What are we looking at as

(35:13):
far as that's concerned. Again, don't know what. I think. It's
a good thing to look at ortalk about when we come back from break.
I can do that, all right, everybody. There are big changes
coming to Cheerleaders Gentlemen's Club New look, next level. Not only does Cheerleaders

for our final segment of Baseball Brunchright after this. I'm only a bed

(36:23):
shoes October Vibe. Gotta see allmyself. We need a new song.
Let's not be worried about the song. I know all right, I'm tired

(36:43):
of it. A Green Legion RadioFox Sports pregame show here on one o
two point five FM, Philadelphia, brought to you by our friendship, Cheerleaders,
Gentlemen's Club and a Titler Law inOcean City, New Jersey. And

(37:04):
by the way, if you needany banking done in South Philadelphia, Santander's
tenth in Oregon. Absolute runner ofthe show, Holly Crop right here,
guys. Honestly, she has toput up with me on a regular basis.
God bless your soul. Yeah,I don't know. That might suggest

(37:27):
he's really good at what she doesor just really patient. Yes, exactly,
everybody. I've got nothing else.Take it away, you guys.
You got the last segment all toyourself. Sure, Murfia, can you
finish on? How do you shuthis mic coffee? Wait? Quimby has
an turn me off? No,why would we do that. He's unplugging

(37:49):
himself. Well, we do havea Quimby unplugged. We do things that
we want ahead on season predictions. So you do it here together, So
Ryan can please take the floor.Yeah. So, I don't know what
the illness was. There was abug that ran through the entire clubhouse.
There were guys dropping like flies downthere. You know what it feels like.
It happens every spring, stomach bug, whatever it was, he got

(38:13):
it bad. I think, uh, it hung around for him and I
think he lost some weight, thatkind of thing, and they just didn't
want to push it. So hewas in the clubhouse today. I saw
him today and he's gonna start throwingand he'll be you know, he should
be back and part of those bullpen. I would think in the near future.
But I don't think it's anything tobe concerned about. So we did
not quantify that. Yeah, wellbut I don't know. See, no,
I would be I'd be lying ifI told you I knew when he

(38:36):
was going to be back. Butbut to your earlier point, the fact
that this bullpen is as good asit is, you know, you think
back four years ago, five yearsago, and this bullpen was in complete
disarray. What they've been able todo over the last couple of years to
build it to, as you said, the best bullpen in the National League.
I mean that's saying something. Andagain, in order to win,

(38:58):
you need a good you need asolid bull slash. How do you feel
about that? What best bullpen inthe National League? Yeah, it's tough
to believe that right out of thegate after what you saw at the end
of last season. But they did. Kimberl's not here anym. Yeah,
Kimberl's not here. They did bulkit up. They do have the young
guys coming up, like Kirkering. So yeah, let's let it play out
that. I'm still on a proveit basis, though I can't say that

(39:20):
coming out of the out of thegate. I don't he Here's the thing
about those predictions, those you know, people saying that nobody knows nobody,
that's just somebody's opinion. It couldchange. They could be tenth tomorrow,
exactly right. I'm sorry, Ijust had to give a different opinion,
you know, So I take itwith a great no. I think the
bullpen is good. Whether or notthey're the best of the National League,
I have no idea, but Ithink I think that that's a solid group
and it could be a strength ofthis team. Kind of gave me an

(39:43):
idea of what else I wanted totalk about here in the last segment while
we were on break and you're justjust to feel this out a little bit
here about you know, some ofthe local media pundits I've been hearing on
some of the shows around the DelawareValley is they're saying that winning division is
not important, but okay, makingthe playoffs is the most important thing to

(40:04):
do. Avoiding a three game wildcardseries where if you have the worst two
days of your season, you're you'reout of it is to me, you
want to start out in the NLDS, is at all possible with the first
two games being at Sison Bank Park. With your rotation in line the trend
of the last couple of years sincethey've expanded the format, It's not going

(40:27):
to keep on happening to where thelast two years the Dodgers and the Braves
have both lost in the NLDS andit's been wildcard teams going into into the
NLCS. Murphy, work's your stanceon that as far as you're concerned,
because for me, winning division isparamount to really finishing this where it needs
to, and that's winning the WorldSeries in twenty twenty four, Right,
Zach, I would say you're wisebeyond your years. Totally. I totally

(40:51):
agree with winning the division is thevery first and the most important goal for
this team in twenty twenty four. They want to win the division. It
is an easier path if you winthe division. Yeah, to your point,
the trend of these wild card teamsgetting into the World Series each year
is not going to continue. Winningthe division means. I don't think it

(41:13):
means as much as it doesn't football, man, we lost the three game
series to the Week, continue tolose to the Braves in the division,
and we continue to kick their ass, But that's not going to continue necessarily,
why not just keep going to holdon? Importantly, Cousin Brad and
Alicia are here, even though thatass hat is not listening. Cousin Brad,

(41:40):
good to see it, all right? Please continue on? Yes,
doesn't make sure? I did?I need to get Cousin Brad's thoughts winning
the division? I don't. Idon't, not not the moment. No,
what I'm saying it's winning the divisionis is the first step in winning
a championship. It just is.It's It's an easier route if you want

(42:04):
to look at it. Anything canhappen in a three game series Games five,
six, and seven last year, three game series against Arizona, a
team that we were better than.We lost that serious. So, yes,
Zach, I agree with you goout and win the division. Can
you get to the World Series bynot winning the division? Sure you can,
We've we've proven that. But isit an easier route the other way?
It is? Absolutely? And sowith that being said, let's dive

(42:28):
into our predictions for the twenty twentyfour seasons. Sure wrong, da predictions
sure to go wrong? Which youknow went the wrong. We're normally we're
normally pretty good about this, eventhough last year you picked the Mets to
hold on a second? Can dothat again? Please? No, I
you know what, I'm not evengonna mention that squad from New York.
Well what what? What? What? What? What? What? I
was listening to another radio station thatyou were a guest on. I think

(42:52):
it was last week. Okay,I think I think you were on,
and I said, don't count outthem, don't count out the Mets.
Were you doing that on purpose justto try? And no, No,
I mean I think counting out theMets would be would be a mistake.
Honestly, hold on a second,Creig, have you heard of you love
looking back at Yeah? And Idisagree, and I don't want his history

(43:17):
continues to repeat itself until it doeswell. Last year, they weren't even
in up until it doesn't. Itwas it was it was more. They
were out of it in June.Yeah, yeah, they they they were
lost early in the season September.I had nothing to do with it,
but yeah, So I think it'sI think the Mets are a decent team,
and the Mets can could jump upand bite some people. I don't

(43:38):
think there's good as abilities in thebrains. But I think discounting the Mets
would be a mistake. All right, So let's start out with the American
League first. So give me yourthree division winners, your wild cards,
and a dark horse team you seetaking the next step of the season,
all right, one off the topof your yeah, all right, So
I told you this before the show. I know you did always You're always
prepared. The divisions. I thinkit's almost like too easy, right,

(44:01):
like something's gonna be different. ButI feel like you and I are probably
gonna be in lockstep in the division. I've got Baltimore winning the East.
I think that's a really good youngteam. They won it last year.
I think they're gonna win it again. I've got Cleveland in the Central winning
it. Who else is gonna winit in the Central. And then I've
got the Houston winning in the West. So that one, you know,
you could argue Texas obviously. Sothose are my top three right there,

(44:23):
all right. So I'm gonna gowith the Orioles, the Twins, and
the Mariners. I think the startingpitching that they have with Seattle is really
good. It's top notch. Eventually, at some point along the line,
the Astros kind of have the trenddownwards, right, I mean, Dusty
retired. What are they gonna dowith the new manager there? We'll see
there's a lot of top bend talentthere from Rivaldez is proving that he's a
fraud and I loved every minute ofit. And then you know, justin

(44:45):
Berlanders gonna be wont forty forty onethis year. So that's a good point.
But I don't know. In Ithink that's still a really good lineup,
no doubt, but I think Seattletakes that step. My three wildcartis
Astros, Yankees, Rangers, Astros, Jenkins, Rangers. I've got the
Rangers, Yankees, Blue Jays, blue Jacks. Yeah, okay, and

(45:06):
you're American League dark horse team,a team that not expected much from.
But well, based on what youjust said, I would have said Seattle.
I look at them more as adark horse than anything. They they
haven't done enough to prove that they'rein that elite company yet, but uh,
I think they've got the talent todo it. So maybe Seattle jumps
up and and surprises somebody. Ilike the Royals, okay. I just

(45:29):
think that they have a lot ofyoung talent. They've added some key veterans
in there, Bobby with you andyour is one of the most exciting players
in baseball. Uh, let's moveto the National League real quick. All
right, I'll start out with mysix teams. I think the Phillies are
gonna win these, Okay, allright, and this is not homerism.
I just want to know why youguys keep bringing Katie Perry up. Dark

(45:49):
Horse. Yeah I missed that.I miss you must be a swiftye but
ready iconic at this point you holdon? Ready? I love I love
what Katy Perry has brought to thetable. Everybody goes, she sits them
on the table. Everybody goes,oh God, why do we have to

(46:12):
continue to watch her while the Chiefsare playing? Guess what Katie, Katy
Perry is opening Uperry is opening upa football demographic. You're talking about the
Taylor Taylor Swift. But I say, Katie Perry Taylor Swift. Let's get
back to the prediction, all right, Let's get it back to the Phillies.
Listen, I know I've had afew Jamison. You can flip a

(46:35):
you can flip a coin Vegas.Hey, everybody, Gregg Sean White Mermay
you can flip a coin really betweenthe Phillies and the Braids. Okay,
but the Braves to me, listenthe historic offense last year, Strider at
the top of the rotation, butFreed experienced some injuries last year. When
you're a quirky left hander, thatkind of goes the other way. Chris

(46:55):
Sale is turning thirty five tomorrow, and I agree with an under four since
since twenty eighteen. And Charlie Mortoncould be his dad. So Bryce Heddler.
We saw what happened in the secondhalf of last season. Kyle Wright
won twenty games two years ago. He's not there this year. So Roka
got traded. So I think thePhillies would a division Cubs, Central,

(47:17):
Dodgers, West car the Wildcards,Braves are going to make the playoffs too,
talented Diamondbacks, and the Reds.My dark horse is the Giants.
Made a lot of good signings thereover the last month of the Cave.
Hey, all right, so Iagree with you in lockstep, with the
exception of one of the wildcard teamsinstead of the Reds, I have Milwaukee.
I don't know why I still believein there. Yeah, I think

(47:38):
Recee is gonna get them over there, get them into the postseason, figure
out a way. So I'll putMilwaukee in as my final wildcard team.
My dark horse would be the CincinnatiReds again, a team that showed flashes
last year. Really young, verytalented. But they're the Cincinnati Reds.
So show me something before I can. I can anoint you a playoff team.

(47:59):
Quick hits before we get out here. Okay, Mookie Bets n L
m v P love the name ZachYeah, especially because Otani Betts too.
Uh NL say young Zach Wheeler's gonnaget his He should have had it in
twenty twenty one, but he gotrobbed. Counnor Henderson, al MVP al
Cy Young, Pablo Lopez from Minnesota. I I like him a lot too.
And then I've got Mihilmano. I'vegot the Orioles beating the Phillies in

(48:21):
the World Series. All right,I'll go run through it real quick.
Yeah you hear that. I knowI'll start painful, painful. I had
the same World Series as you.I have Orioles Phillies. I think it's
a prey down Broad Street this year. So I'm going with the home,
the hometown team, always the panda. No will you picked Zack Wheeler as
your national lea say young winner andhe absolutely could go out and win it.

(48:42):
I'm picking a different zac. Ithink Zach Gallum is gonna win it
out there in Arizona. I thinkhe's finally he's a local kid. He's
a local kid, so we cancheer for him a little bit, as
long as he's not pitching against US. Uh. Bryce Harper's your National League
MVP. That's what That's why I'mgoing with it. He's gonna be healthy
this year. I've got Corbyn Burnswinning the American League, Cy Young also
in Baltimore, and Orb Burson.I've got he could win it too,

(49:02):
wasn't he the the Montgomerys. Youknow, my contract says I don't have
to do any calisthetics, so Idon't think feel necessary. Yeah wait let
me, yeah, let me takeyour contraction. Put it on the ground
here. I got Atdlie Rushman winningthe American League MVP, and as I
said, Philly's over the Orioles towin it all. I know Qum is
about to take over and take usout. But partner, this is this

(49:24):
is awesome with you. I'll seein San Diego in a month. It
was good to be with you guys. Thank you our first brain out there
too. I know this, youknow wasn't the departure that you wanted.
So we'll make sure that we havea few of these over the course of
the season. This is fun.Let's do it again sometime, right you
guys, let's go. We Weneed you fired up right now. Hey,

(49:52):
