Thank you so much for joiningme and making this possible.
You know there are times when Ithink I'm only talking to my
family or crickets, but thensomeone will email me to let me
(00:25):
know they're listening.
Glory to God, praise God.
If you're new, I pray this is aplace you keep returning to for
growth and encouragement as abeliever in Christ Jesus.
100th episode 100th episodewe've arrived and I have four
(00:51):
things I've learned during thosefour years that are business
related and personal Saints.
As the podcast was growing, sowas I Listen in to find out more
.
(01:12):
Welcome to Hanging Out withJesus podcast, the podcast that
equips and encourages you tospend time with God in order to
declutter your self-talkintentionally, so you can go and
do what God's called you to do.
Hey, thanks for listening inand welcome.
I'm Lyvita, author, bibleteacher and speaker on a mission
(01:36):
with the purpose to help thesaints break free from the
things that distract us fromdoing what God's designed us to
do.
But today we are reviewing, looking back to see what four
things we have learned in thepast four years as a podcaster.
This is episode 100.
(01:58):
I pray this episode awakensyour senses to the truth of who
you are and whom you belong to,as I share highlights from
spending time with the Lord.
Let's get started.
Isaiah 43, verse 18 to 19,reads Remember not the former
(02:22):
things, nor consider the thingsof old.
Behold, I'm doing a new thing.
Now it springs forth.
Do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in thewilderness and rivers in the
desert.
This is my verse for the yearand I find it so fitting for
this episode.
(02:43):
Saints, have you ever reached agoal that you didn't think you
were qualified to reach?
Well, that's me with podcasting.
First, I didn't know it existeduntil 2019.
Then, in 2020, god led me tostart one.
From then to now, all I want todo is share what God placed on
(03:08):
my heart and invite whomever heled me to invite as a guest on
the podcast.
And yet I never realized thatGod's been grooming me all along
for such a time as this.
It's 100 episodes and a littleover four years, and I've got to
(03:32):
say y'all.
I've learned a lot, I've growna lot.
I've encountered things I neverthought would happen to me, nor
did I see a way out of some ofthem.
I've endured where I thought Icould and lived where I didn't
know I would.
(03:53):
Saints, I did it all becauseChrist Jesus was right here with
me.
He was leading me, he waspicking me up when I couldn't
walk, holding me when I neededlove, dancing with me when I
(04:13):
needed to release pent-up energyfor my sanity.
Saints, here are four thingsI've learned since the beginning
of podcasting in 2020.
First thing I learned is thatwhen God calls you, he has
already prepared you, eventhough what you think you don't
(04:37):
know about a specific topic, orthe technology that is needed to
know what you need to knowabout a particular topic, or
that you might look stupidbecause you don't know what you
don't know, that you don't knowthat you don't know, well, hey,
there's a 50 50 chance that youwill succeed or not succeed.
(05:01):
Everyone has to start somewhere, right?
When I look back on how Godpresented podcasting to me,
first let me know that itexisted accidentally because I
was deleting apps off my phone.
Then, as I searched through theapp, he led me to Pat Flynn and
(05:24):
Joanna Penn's podcast, whichfocus on indie publishers and
authors and learning aboutpodcasts.
For some reason, they caught myattention.
I was intrigued by Pat Flynn'sepisodes.
He is now one of the toppodcasters who still teaches how
to start, maintain and growyour podcast.
(05:47):
Where's Joanna Penn?
And that's with a double N, asshe says on the Creative Writers
Podcast, her last name isspelled P-E-N-N.
Now, joanna Penn is an indieauthor and publisher, and what
we'll call a self-publishedauthor.
Well, she talks about allthings for indie publishers and
(06:09):
authors, including what she'sdoing and has learned so that we
can make better decisions aboutour businesses as creatives.
Creatives, when I look back atthat, god was using Pat Flynn to
(06:30):
help develop my guts and skillsfor podcasting.
That included me being able toattend his SPI group so that I
can ask questions.
And yet God was also usingJoanna Penn to help develop my
guts and skill as an indieauthor and publisher of the
products, tools and resources hewanted me to produce.
(06:51):
Wow, say stop, stop.
Let's pay attention here.
God is doing something in yourlife right now.
It's that thing that you aren'tpaying attention to.
That is where he's grooming you.
You may not see it right now, until it's ready.
(07:18):
What I'm saying to you is getready, spend some time with the
Lord to get ready.
Saints, god really does prepareyou before he introduces you to
stuff.
Even though I was shocked thathe'd lead me this way.
(07:39):
After I got over the initialshock, I realized that it was
doable.
All I had to do was follow thepath of those who went before me
, and as I went, I begandeveloping my own voice.
I'm reminded of Ephesians,chapter 2, verse 10.
(07:59):
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works which God preparedbeforehand that we shall walk in
them.
Y'all, god made us, thereforehe will lead us.
We just have to spend time withhim, listening and paying
(08:20):
attention.
The second thing I learned as apodcaster of four years is that
God's got jokes.
I know you have heard that onebefore, but seriously, I believe
my aunt is right, because sheis the one who says it a lot.
There have been times when Ididn't know what to talk about
(08:42):
on an episode.
My frustration and anxiety rose, leaving me feeling insecure
and living on a tight rope.
You see, I like planning ahead.
God's always been faithful togive me the topics for
discussion during my 21 days offasting and prayer at the
beginning of each new year.
(09:03):
Well, there have been sometimes when that topic wasn't
clear enough or that God wasleading me to change it, but I
had to wait to get what thatwould be.
Here's where God's got jokescome in Just about every time
(09:24):
this happened.
God's got jokes come in justabout every time this happened.
It was because God wasadjusting my focus for what the
podcast purpose was.
Saints, I know you haverealized.
Well, if you knew, when you goback through the episodes, you
see where my introductionchanges.
(09:45):
One of the things I've beentalking to God a lot about
during the past four years iswhy is my purpose so long?
You know, like, can I shortenit?
And also, am I really talkingabout spiritual discipline or
something deeper?
Because I really wanted toshare what was happening in the
world.
Well, say, write a comment andleave it alone.
If you remember when I had asection in the episode where I
(10:09):
was talking about world eventsbefore getting into the actual
episode, well, that changedBecause I was being changed more
into the podcaster, speaker, teacher God is designing me to
be.
And saints, I'm not there yetbecause growth is an ever
(10:33):
existing thing in my life andyours.
I laugh because of the many waysGod brought me through to what
I believe was supposed to be thepurpose of the podcast, the Me
Project Academy and the YouTubechannel, but only found out that
(10:59):
get me to see what my purposeis for these three mediums.
You get it?
Okay, let me try again.
See, I'm trying to find thepurpose for the mediums.
(11:22):
For the mediums, god wants meto see my purpose and for the
meeting, I didn't realize that Ishould have a purpose for using
them.
You got it.
It's funny.
(11:44):
It's like what I'm supposed tohave a purpose for using them?
Not, they have a purpose forbeing okay.
Everybody's okay, but that wasfunny to me.
You see, it's my goal, for whatI do is my mission, what?
(12:10):
I heard it in my head that Iput it on on paper because you
know, god, and I have beenaround the bar about this so
many times, y'all you know.
I was just saying, oh God, youknow you got jokes.
Okay, I'm looking here and youranswer's there.
Okay, okay, saints, here we arenow in the present.
(12:34):
Here, we are now in the present, and God has given me a simple,
to the point mission, goal andpurpose.
That cleared up everything.
Here it is here it is here itis.
(13:04):
It is to produce content anduse mediums for equipping and
encouraging believers to livefor Christ with intention and be
more productive.
I've been producing content, which is writing, speaking,
making products, and the mediumsare the form of communication,
like podcasts, youtube, journals, books and events that I've
attended.
That was so simple and so notwhat I was looking for.
(13:32):
Say we will be back to theepisode.

help you declutter your mindlifestyle from things that weigh
you down and stop you fromgoing and doing what you are

Now back to the episode.
The third thing I learned in thelast four years of podcasting
is that you need to stay in yourlane.
(14:14):
How many times have we foundourselves doing stuff we don't
have to do or need to do, likestaying in the way of someone
else getting their blessingbecause we are too busy trying
to solve the problem instead ofletting them do?
(14:34):
Parents, how many times haveyou told your child to clean up
after themselves?
They weren't doing it fastenough, so you did it yourself.
The child's lane is to learnhow to do it.
And when asked, in your lane isa teacher child.
What happens when they don'thold up their end?
(14:57):
Entrepreneurs, how many timeshave you come to the rescue of a
family member or a friend bygiving them money instead of
sitting down with them andteaching them how to save money
or live within their means, andthat you are not their ATM?
(15:19):
Learning to stay in my lane hasallowed me to find my voice, see
where my niche is and my partin supporting others.
It allows me to set goals thatalign with God's will for my
life and pay more attention towhat's happening in my business,
in my life.
The more I hang out with Jesus, looking for a simple purpose,
(15:48):
reading books on my craft, talking to others within my
industry, god was opening mysenses to hear him more clearly.
There's several scriptures thatcome to mind, like Isaiah 30,
21.
And your ears should hear aword behind you saying this is
(16:09):
the way.
Walk in it when you turn to theright or when you turn to the
left.
And then there's Jeremiah 33.3.
I love this one.
Call to me and I will answeryou and will tell you great and
hidden things that you have notknown.
Woo Y'all.
Psalms 119, 105.
(16:31):
Your word is a lamp to my feetand a light to my path.
And then there's Mark 4, verse27.
And he said to them payattention to what you hear.
With the measure you use, itwill be measured to you and
still more will be added to you.
(16:52):
Saint, staying in your lane and, like my cousin Alita says, not
your water to jump in.
Well, there's a reason for that.
You end up becoming overwhelmed, tired, restless and even
irritated because you're doingthings you shouldn't be.
This I learned for my personallife, business and ministry.
(17:16):
Well, my business, my ministry,is my business.
I don't know everything, nor amI supposed to.
That's why we each havespiritual gifts and talents.
Why talk on a topic when someoneelse has been gifted to do so?
My job is to interview them ina way that brings out their
(17:36):
uniqueness for you, my audience, through listening to the Holy
Spirit.
That's my part, and I amlearning to do it better and
better.
Can't you tell I'm gettingbetter with the interviews?
Still some work needs to bedone, but there's progress.
Sometimes y'all will have tostart small and get the momentum
(18:01):
going so we can finish.
Complete not necessarily faster, but like James 1 says, count it
all.
Joy, my brothers, when you meettrials of various kinds, for
you know that the testing ofyour faith produces
steadfastness, and letssteadfastness have its full
(18:22):
effect, that you may be perfectand complete.
Lacking in nothing, finishcomplete so that you run your
race to completion.
You run your race to completion.
That sounds deep.
Finish complete so that you runyour race to completion.
Now that leads me to the fourththing I learned as a podcaster
(18:45):
for four years.
Your personal life will alwayshave a direct impact on your
ministry, your business, yourjob, whether you want it to or
not.
Your family life.
Listen, saints, getting adivorce this year, dealing with
anxiety, depression, emotionalabuse all of which weren't
(19:08):
something I saw myself dealingwith seemed to all hit me at one
time.
I was crippled with heartache, feeling unsafe, insecure and
questioning everything I did, even to the point leaving the
house became a chore.
I'm doing better.
The depression has lifted, except I'm learning more about
(19:32):
what triggers them.
The anxiety seems to be puttingup a fight and the headache,
well, god's mending it to thepoint.
It doesn't hurt like it used to.
Now you would think that Iwould stop podcasting no way.
(19:53):
Instead, I continued with ease.
My writing was flowing even at1 am in the morning, but God led
me to a Bible study aroundsisters that loved on me for 12
weeks and only one knew what Iwas going through.
Thanks, judy.
Thanks, judy.
God also had me going todivorce care at another church
(20:18):
because I just didn't feelcomfortable sharing at my church
.
My church was supporting methey were, but I was the mess.
My pastor and ministers theywere, you know, but I was the
(20:38):
mess.
My pastor and ministers andfriends that didn't know they
were praying for me, but Ineeded another space.
You see, when you aren'tthinking straight, when you've
been through a toxicrelationship that can throw you
for a loop, my Bible readingcontinued.
(21:02):
I continued listening tosermons and inspirational
messages, along with books.
You know, I seem to get morebooks Everywhere I go.
I just seem to get more books.
I just love reading, you know.
You know I even got a therapistduring this time to help me
navigate these emotionalwhirlwinds that I was on.
(21:24):
You know.
Now, one thing, okay, that I hadto deal with during this time
was the thoughts of other peoplejudging me and thoughts of me
(21:50):
judging me.
That was a devastating time, but, y'all, it was one of the
most valuable times.
It is true that God will neverleave you or forsake you or
(22:15):
forsake you.
God was with me through it all.
He was sending me red flags, but I kept pushing them away.
He was sending people my waythat I thought was just trying
to start something, you know, but he was providing ways of
escape for me, especially withthe finances.
(22:37):
I still don't know how God sawto it that the bills were being
paid when the money was short attimes.
God did it.
God sent dreams that I couldn'tunderstand until now, because
they were dreams telling me thathe is building me up during
(22:59):
this time.
Don't fret, I will get out, Iwill be the victor.
That day I left was the best dayof my life.
I felt like a caged bird thatwas let free for the first time,
and all I wanted to do was fly, just fly, because my wings had
(23:27):
been clipped, so my flying was alittle off.
My knees were sore from prayingand my voice oh God, my voice
was beautiful.
I spoke without hesitation.
I spoke without hesitation.
I spoke without fear or secondguessing.
(23:47):
I just wanted to fly, andthat's why the podcast changed
and that's why I'm able to hearGod clearly give me my new
season of life, mission andpurpose.
Now, my new season includes aYouTube station.
My new season includes movingthe strategic planner and
(24:11):
fortified coaching program outand into the world.
Why, you see, god never left meor forsook me.
Even when it felt like life wasbeing drained out of me, god
was there, making sure that myfoundation never cracked,
(24:34):
because that was a thing theenemy couldn't take from me.
I am a child of the true andliving God.
You see, saints, I said earlierthat God's got jokes.
(24:55):
Well, here I am telling youthat you should be doing what
God's called you to do andcoming out of the pandemic.
God has many businesses.
It's funny, I was talking tomyself also.
I didn't even realize it.
God was setting me up to comeout of an emotionally abusive
relationship so I could do whatI was called to do.
(25:15):
Now, isn't that personal lifeimpacting your ministry business
?
Saints, god's always with us,but it's those times we spend
with him where we can see himmoving the most, even when we
need rest.
So those are the four things Ilearned in the past four years
(25:40):
as a podcaster, celebrating our100th episode.
One when God calls you, he hasalready prepared you.
Two God's got jokes.
Three stay in your lane.
And four, god will never leaveyou or forsake you.
(26:04):
Even when you think he's notthere, he is.
Isaiah 43, 18, 19 says Remembernot the former things, nor
consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing.
Now it springs forth.
Do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in thewilderness and rivers and the
(26:28):
desert.
Saints, I started with thescripture and told you it was my
scripture for the year.
God gave this early to me, inJanuary 2024, during my 21 days
of fasting and prayer with him.
What I am seeing now, fivemonths later, is that in January
(26:48):
I didn't perceive it, but now Ido.
God has truly brought me fromout the former things and the
old things into a new season.
He has made it way out of thewilderness, because it was a
fight to get free, and rivers inthe desert, because at times I
(27:10):
didn't see that he was restoringmy health, my finances, my
self-talk, ministry, dreams,business, relationship.
This new season is a new thingand the road ahead well with God
(27:30):
, who has proved himselffaithful over and over again.
I can be confident that he willcontinue taking care of and
loving me, for I will continueproducing content and using
medium for equipping andencouraging believers to live
for Christ with intention and bemore productive.
(27:54):
Let's pray Our Heavenly Father.
Thank you for 100th episode.
Thank you for the lessonslearned.
You truly have brought me to anew season where things are not
like they were in the past.
Even our form of communicationhas deepened.
(28:19):
I pray for your listeners that,as they seek your face, they
will hear your voice and, withboldness and courage, see where
you brought them from and whenit is time for them to step out.
To step out in the name ofJesus, knowing that you will not
(28:48):
leave them or forsake them, realizing that they have been
designed by you for such a timeas this.
In Jesus' name, I pray amen andamen.
I pray amen and amen.
Saints, thanks for tuning in.
