Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to Harmony Hub Health, where my mission is
to provide comprehensive,affordable, integrative care
that addresses the root cause ofhealth issues.
At the Hub, the focus is onindividual patient journeys.
I strive to optimize health, vitality and longevity,
fostering a community where eachperson can thrive in body, mind
and spirit.

(00:21):
Since we're still in that monthof love, let's talk about
something that's perhaps not thefirst thing that comes to mind
when you think of Valentine'sDay.

(00:42):
It's testosterone that comes tomind when you think of
Valentine's Day, it'stestosterone.
You heard me right.
Whether you're trying toreignite the spark in your
romantic life or just want tofeel like your fabulous self
understanding, testosterone canbe a game changer.
I did an episode, more designedfor the ladies, that you can go
and check out.
It was from the summer.
It was a dancing with the starstheme, but this one is for men

(01:06):
and women, okay.
So if you're feeling like aflaccid Valentine, yeah, let's
talk about these symptoms of lowtestosterone.
If you've been feeling like thelove machine has come to a
screeching halt, it might betime to check your testosterone
levels.
Here are some telltale signsthat your T levels might be in

(01:28):
need of a little TLC.
First is low energy levels.
If you're dragging yourselfthrough the day.
If you feel like a sloth in atraffic jam.
Reduced muscle mass If you're aguy, remember when you used to
flex in the mirror.
If you feel like you look morelike a deflated balloon, it's
time for a checkup.
Mood swings.

(01:49):
If you're cranky or weepy, andnot just because you missed your
morning coffee, or if yourpassion meter is reading zero,
that's not exactly the romanticvibe you want, right?
Difficulty concentrating, youknow, if your brain is foggier
and foggier, low testosteronecould be the culprit, and

(02:10):
especially for women.
They get that fatigue.
If you are tired, even after anap, you should have your
hormones checked.
And those pesky pounds thatwon't budge.
Hello hormonal imbalance.
And you know, even women getthat.
Decreased libido.
If you're not feeling it,you're not alone.

(02:30):
It's a common symptom of lowtestosterone.
And even for women, sleepissues can come from low
testosterone.
You toss and turn.
Your hormones might be throwinga tantrum.
So we're going to talk abouttestosterone today.
And did you know that about 40%of men and well, we'll say 40%

(02:53):
of men over 45 and 30% of womenexperience low testosterone?
So that's a lot of peoplemissing out on the perks of
feeling fabulous.
Let's talk about the men first, because, gentlemen, they want
to boost testosterone levels.
Testosterone should be yourbest friend.
Testosterone is produced in thetestes.

(03:16):
It's responsible for a lot ofdifferent things.
It's responsible for libido andsexual function.
It plays a huge role in sexualdesire, erectile function and
overall sexual satisfaction.
It contributes to muscledevelopment and maintenance and
impacts physical performance.
And it helps keep your bonesstrong and dense, so it reduces

(03:40):
the risk of osteoporosis.
Adequate testosterone levels arelinked to a good mood,
motivation and cognitivefunction.
So men that have lowtestosterone, it can lead to a
variety of symptoms that canreally impact quality of life.
So low energy levels, persistent fatigue, a general

(04:00):
lack of motivation, decreasedlibido that would be a
noticeable reduction in sexualdesire and interest.
Erectile dysfunction this isdifficulty achieving or
maintaining that erection.
Reduced muscle mass if you haveloss of strength and muscle
tone, it makes physicalactivities much more challenging

(04:20):
.
And mood changes, increasedirritability, anxiety or
depression can come from lowtestosterone, and then changes
in body composition.
Usually it results in increasedfat accumulation.
So the benefits of we'll callit TRT testosterone replacement
therapy is that it can providenumerous benefits for men that

(04:42):
are experiencing these symptomswith low testosterone levels.
So the benefits you wouldexpect for men are increased
energy level.
Many men feel more energeticand motivated once they start
treatment.
They have a restoredtestosterone level, which can

(05:02):
lead to improved sexual desireand performance.
They have better mood stabilityand reduced feelings of
depression or anxiety.
It can help improve muscle sizeand strength, enhancing
physical performance I don'twant you to confuse this with
steroids, because it issomething completely different
and preventing that osteoporosisand support overall bone

(05:23):
density is important, especiallyas you age, so TRT can be given
in many different ways.
It can allow flexibility basedon each individual's preference.
The most common is theinjectables, so testosterone
cypionate is administered as anintramuscular injection every
one to two weeks and this allowsfor rapid absorption and

(05:46):
effective hormone delivery.
The half-life of testosteroneis about eight days, so this is
a great way to keep thatmomentum going and feel great
throughout the whole week.
There also are topical gels andcreams that you apply directly
to your skin.
I have my men apply it to thatlittle sensitive area that's

(06:07):
right between your anus and theother area you know what area
I'm talking about, men, butright there.
Your body absorbs that sonaturally and it's a very
convenient method for dailytestosterone delivery.
There are patches and pellets.
I don't really like those, Idon't do those.

(06:29):
So the testosterone cypionateis probably the most commonly
prescribed form of testosteronebecause of that half-life of
eight days to give thatsustained release and men just
like to take care of things oncea week also, and it does give a
great fast response.

(06:50):
So there's noticeableimprovements in energy, libido,
mood and muscle mass.
Now, before you take any type ofTRT, you definitely need to
consult with a healthcareprovider preferably me who
specializes in hormone therapy.
There will be some testinginvolved to make sure that you
are okay to get that and also todiscuss any possible side

(07:12):
effects or any issues that canarise when you take it.
But TRT can be life-changingfor men experiencing the
symptoms of low testosterone andby restoring hormone levels TRT
can improve libido, energy, mood and just overall quality of
life.
So if you do suspect you mayhave low testosterone, or if

(07:33):
you're listening and you feellike this sounds like your
husband or your boyfriend, sendthem to me so we can take
control of that hormonal healthand lead to a much happier, more
fulfilling life.
Now for the women.
I don't do injections withwomen.
I like to use bioidenticalhormone replacement, so BHRT, or

(07:54):
bioidentical hormonereplacement therapy, is a
treatment designed to balancehormone levels in the body using
hormones that are chemicallyidentical to those naturally
produced by the body.
So, unlike synthetic hormones, which can have different
chemical structures and effects, bioidentical really replicate
your body's natural hormones asclosely as possible.

(08:17):
If you looked at it under amicroscope, it would look like
you made it.
So testosterone is thought ofas a male hormone, but it plays
such a vital role in women'shealth as well.
It's produced primarily in theovaries and adrenal glands, and
testosterone contributes to somany bodily functions for women.

(08:38):
Again, libido.
Testosterone is so important forsexual desire and arousal.
For us women, adequate levelsof testosterone help maintain
energy and vitality.
Testosterone helps stabilizemood and it can reduce feelings
of anxiety and depression.
It plays a huge role inbuilding and maintaining muscle

(08:59):
tissue, and testosterone isimportant for maintaining bone
health, reducing the risk ofosteoporosis as well.
So that's why, you can see, itis just as good for the women,
and low testosterone for womencan lead to a variety of
symptoms that can affect yourquality of life.
Decreased libido you know anoticeable drop in sexual desire

(09:19):
can be frustrating and it canaffect your relationship.
Fatigue we don't have time tobe tired.
Feeling tired Even after youfeel like you've got a good
night's sleep, usually there'stestosterone deficiency.
Increased irritability, anxietyand depression can all be
linked to hormonal imbalances.
And if you're noticing a lossof muscle mass or less strength,

(09:45):
less endurance, if physicalactivity is getting more
challenging or women also havethat change in body composition
and fat distribution and theynotice fat going to different
places, and then again thatsleep disturbance.
So trouble falling or stayingasleep is always a sign of
hormonal imbalance.
Sleep disturbance so troublefalling or staying asleep is

(10:06):
always a sign of hormonalimbalance.
Testosterone replacement for lowtestosterone can really enhance
libido.
So women report significantimprovement in sexual desire and
satisfaction after startingtestosterone therapy.
So if you are a man, you mightbe hearing this and think like
now you have the perfectValentine's Day gift yes, I can

(10:26):
get it to you before Valentine'sDay.
Or you know, when you take BHRTtestosterone, you usually
experience a boost in energy, making your daily activities
much more enjoyable.
Balancing your testosterone canlead to better mood regulation.
It can reduce anxiety ordepression, and women may also

(10:48):
notice increased muscle mass andstrength, making exercise more
effective and enjoyable andmaintaining bone density.
You want to reduce the risk ofosteoporosis, especially if
you're postmenopausal, but youwant to reduce the risk of
brittle or weak bones as well.
Testosterone replacement forwomen can be given by injection.

(11:13):
Like I said, I prefer topicalcreams that are applied to the
skin.
I have my women apply it to theinner labia because, again,
that is just more natural.
You have such large pores atyour inner labia and when you
put it in there your body justkind of gets that as your blood
flows by, kind of naturally howyour own natural hormones are

(11:37):
picked up and distributedthroughout your body.
So topical cream is my favorite.
There are troches, there arepatches, there are pellets.
But just a word of caution Iwould say 40% of my clients are
people that were on pellets, that needed something better.

(11:57):
Okay, but before starting anyBHRT you do need to consult a
good healthcare professionallike myself, experienced in
hormone therapy, so that we canconduct hormone assessments and
discuss potential risks andbenefits and talk about side
effects.
But you know, testosterone BHRTis a transformative therapy for

(12:18):
those suffering from lowtestosterone levels and by
restoring hormonal balance womencan experience improved libido,
better energy, better mood andoverall quality of life.
If you suspect that you mightbe experiencing symptoms of low
testosterone, don't hesitate toreach out to me for guidance and
support.
Your hormones are an essentialpart of your health, and taking

(12:40):
control of them can lead to ahappier, healthier life.
Now other therapies that I haveavailable at Harmony Hub Health
.
One of them is very sassy.
Okay, it is called.
This name just cracks me up.
It is called Scream Cream.
Okay, this is turning up theheat with something a little
spicy.
It's not just your averagetopical cream.

(13:02):
It is a blend of a little bitof testosterone and other
sensual ingredients designed toenhance sexual arousal and
response in women, so that quickabsorption means you can get
down to business without waitingfor any long acting solution.
All right, so that is for womenthat just have a hard time.
This has ingredients that'sgoing to increase blood flow to

(13:26):
those special bits, so that, just like the name.
Besides BHRT, there are somesupplements that I like to use
for increasing testosteronelevels, and one of them is maca.
It's a root vegetable native tothe Andes mountains in Peru,
and it's been used for centuriesas a food source and for its

(13:49):
medicinal properties, especiallyenhancing energy, stamina and
libido.
It's packed with vitamins, minerals and amino acids that
support your overall health, andthe exact mechanism and how it
increases testosterone is notfully understood.
It is considered an adaptogen, which means it may help the body
adapt to stress and balancehormone levels, and it may also

(14:12):
influence your hormoneproduction, but it does not
contain phytoestrogens or directtestosterone precursors.
Many studies suggest that macaexperienced increased sexual

(14:34):
desire compared to placebos, soathletes often use this for its
potential to enhance energylevels and athletic performance,
although research on that Icouldn't find very much and many
people that take it do reportimproved mood and reduced
anxiety when they use it, whichcould indirectly support healthy
testosterone levels by justreducing stress.

(14:59):
The other one is DHEA, and thisis a hormone that's produced by
the adrenal glands and it is aprecursor to both testosterone
and estrogen.
It's often marketed as asupplement to enhance hormone
levels and improve overallvitality.
I will tell you that dosing isdifferent for men and women, and
I do see a lot of women seeingit on the counter and buying it,

(15:21):
so don't do that.
Come talk to me first.
But DHEA can be converted intotestosterone and estrogen in
your body and potentially thatcan increase your testosterone
levels.
The conversion process dependson individual hormonal balance
and needs.
Dhea levels naturally declinewith age, which may contribute

(15:41):
to decreased testosterone levelsin older adults.
So research has shown that DHEAsupplements can lead to
increased testosterone in somepopulations, more so in older
men.
There was a study published inthe Journal of Clinical
Endocrinology and Metabolism andthey found that DHEA
supplementation resulted insignificant increase in

(16:03):
testosterone in older men.
So that was the main study thatI found, but I have put a lot
of my men on that along withtheir testosterone to help
support their production as well, and a lot of studies suggest
that DHEA may help alleviatedepression and improve mood,
which can also be beneficial foroverall health and hormone

(16:26):
balance.
Athletes that use DHEA toimprove strength and muscle mass
they say that works really well.
But you know you have toconsider DHEA.
Even though it's great, I liketo put people on it that have
brain fog because it does have atie-in to cognitive effects but

(16:46):
it can lead to hormonalimbalances, especially if you
take too much.
That's why I warn the women youwant to really monitor how much
you're taking, because it cancause acne.
It can cause some hair loss andmood swings and changes in
menstrual cycles for women.
So it's really important tohave someone that knows how to
monitor it and kind of titrateyour dose as you need it.

(17:08):
But both of these are bothgreat for increasing
testosterone levels, but they dowork through different
mechanisms and they have varyinglevels of scientific support.
I don't think there's anythingas good as just BHRT for women,
so why not treat yourself to theultimate gift of vitality and

(17:29):
confidence?
