Dive deep into the fascinating world of your body's hidden health hero: the endocannabinoid system. As your functional medicine guide, I'm pulling back the curtain on this remarkable regulatory network that governs everything from your mood and stress responses to pain perception and sleep quality. Despite its crucial role in maintaining bodily balance, most people have never even heard of it—until today.

The buzz around CBD is everywhere, but there's a critical distinction between the mass-produced products lining convenience store shelves and medical-grade cannabinoid therapy. Through evidence-based explanation, I break down exactly how CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system without creating psychoactive effects. Unlike THC, which directly binds to CB1 receptors in the brain, CBD works through subtle modulation of multiple pathways, enhancing your body's natural ability to achieve homeostasis.

What truly sets CBD infusions apart from oils or gummies is their unmatched bioavailability. When delivered directly to your bloodstream, CBD bypasses the digestive system entirely—meaning you receive nearly 100% of the therapeutic compound compared to just 10-20% with oral consumption. This translates to faster, more effective relief for chronic pain, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and inflammatory conditions. Backed by compelling research from reputable journals, these infusions represent the cutting edge of personalized wellness support, delivered with precise dosing that meets your unique health needs. Ready to reset your body's internal balance? This might be the therapeutic approach you've been searching for.

(00:21):
As a functional medicine nursepractitioner, I'm all about
looking at the body through abig picture lens.
I don't just focus on symptoms,I want to find root causes.

(00:43):
And when it comes to CBDinfusions, I want to give you
the science, the details and whythey might be a game changer
for your health.
It's not just for chill vibes.
So I'm going to break it down.
Cbd has exploded in popularityover the last few years, with
everyone from celebrities towellness enthusiasts touting its

(01:04):
benefits, from reducing stressand anxiety to easing chronic
pain.
Cbd is suddenly everywhere.
But here's the catch Not allCBD is created equal.
The stuff you find at gasstations and corner shops.
Well, just proceed with cautionwhen it comes to CBD.
You want medical grade productsthat are rigorously tested and

(01:24):
backed by science, not somethingmass produced with little
oversight, because qualitymatters and medical grade CBD is
carefully formulated to ensurepurity, potency, consistency, to
deliver the benefits you'relooking for without all of that
guesswork.
Even big pharma has takennotice.
There are over 15 differentsynthetic CBD formulations

(01:47):
currently undergoing clinicaltrials.
Well, the science behind CBD istoo compelling to ignore.
From reducing inflammation toregulating mood, cbd has proven
potential, but only when usedcorrectly and in the right
formulation.
So if you're looking to unlockthe full benefits of CBD, don't
settle for anything less thanthe best Medical grade.

(02:09):
Cbd can help you tap into thepower of your endocannabinoid
system, known as your ECS it'syour body's hidden health hero
and restore balance.
Naturally, if you're ready todive in and learn more, let's
get into the science behind theECS and why it's key to better
health.
So what is CBD anyway?
Cbd, or cannabinoidol, is oneof the many compounds called

(02:34):
cannabinoids.
It's found in a cannabis plant, but unlike THC, which is
tetrahydrocannabinol, thecompound that gets you high, CBD
doesn't cause any psychoactiveeffects.
It won't make you feel likeyou're floating in a cloud of
euphoria, but it does work itsmagic on your body and mind in
some really profound ways, and Iswear I'm not trying to give

(02:55):
you the munchies so I can enrollyou in one of my weight loss
plans.
I do want to get into the nittygritty of the ECS, or the
endocannabinoid system.
It's the unsung hero of yourbody's internal regulation
system.
It's pretty much like yourbody's control center for
maintaining balance orhomeostasis, and it's involved
in regulating everything fromyour mood to your metabolism.

(03:17):
It may sound complex, but I'mgoing to break it down in simple
terms, while keeping the nerdydetail still in there, because
you know how I am.
The ECS is a biological systemin the human body composed of
three main components that worktogether to regulate a wide
range of bodily functions.
It's found in every organsystem, including the brain,

(03:38):
your immune system, even yourskin.
Despite its importance, the ECSwasn't fully understood until
relatively recently, especiallywhen compared to the other
systems like the nervous systemor cardiovascular systems,
though we've known for a long,long time.
There's three key components ofthe ECS.
One of them is theendocannabinoids.

(04:01):
These are naturally occurringcompounds in your body that act
as messengers.
They are similar in structureto the cannabinoids found in the
cannabis plant, such as THC andCBD, but your body produces
them as needed to keep things inbalance.
The two most well-knownendocannabinoids are the
anandamide, often called thebliss molecule.

(04:24):
It helps with mood, painregulation and appetite.
Then we have the 2-AG.
It's 2-arachidonylglycerol.
It plays a role in immunefunction and inflammation.
The second one are thecannabinoid receptors.
These receptors are like locksand the endocannabinoids are the
keys.
They're located on the surfaceof cells throughout your body,

(04:47):
especially in your brain andyour nervous system, and the two
main types of receptors are CB1receptors and CB2 receptors.
Cb1 receptors are found in thebrain and your central nervous
system.
They're involved in regulatingmood, memory, appetite and motor
function.
Thc binds to these receptors, which is why it causes that

(05:09):
psychoactive effect.
Cb2 receptors are found mostlyin the immune system and the
peripheral tissues, like yourspleen, your lymph nodes and
your GI system.
These receptors help regulateinflammation and immune
responses.
Cbd affects these receptorsindirectly, helping to calm
inflammation and immuneactivation.

(05:32):
Then the third one are theenzymes.
Enzymes are responsible forbreaking down endocannabinoids
once they've done their job.
The two main enzymes involvedin these are one it's your fatty
acid amide hydrolase, known asthe FAAH, that breaks down the
anandamide.
And then we have the MAGL, orthe monoacylglycerol lipase.

(05:57):
This breaks down the 2AG.
Now that you know all thesecomponents, we're going to talk
about how they work together.
The ECS helps your body maintainbalance, also called
homeostasis, which is a veryfancy way of saying that.
It keeps everything functioningwithin a normal range.
The ECS monitors and modulatesa huge variety of physiological

(06:21):
processes, like your mood andstress.
It regulates how your bodyresponds to stress and emotional
triggers, pain and inflammation.
It helps to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation by
influencing immune responses andneural pathways.
Sleep modulating the sleep-wakecycle.
You know it affects the qualityand duration of your sleep.

(06:42):
Then there's appetite andmetabolism.
It helps to control hunger andregulate your fat storage.
Then there's memory andlearning, you know playing a
role in how memories are formedand retrieved.
And then your immune systemfunction, so balancing immune
responses, preventing overactivation that can lead to
autoimmune issues.
When your body experiencesdisruptions like stress, injury

(07:07):
or illness, the ECS is there tohelp regulate the response.
It's essentially your body'sbuilt-in regulatory system that
maintains balance, like athermostat, ensuring that
everything stays in.
So if you're wondering how CBDand THC interact with the ECS

(07:28):
THC or that detrihydrocannabinolit's the psychoactive compound
in cannabis.
It binds directly to CB1receptors in the brain.
This direct binding results inthat high that people feel when
they use marijuana.
Thc increases dopamine releasethat's the feel-good
neurotransmitter, and this iswhy it has those psychoactive

(07:50):
effects.
Cbd, on the other hand, works alittle differently.
It doesn't bind directly toeither CB1 or CB2 receptors,
instead it modulates them.
So it works by enhancingendocannabinoid activity, by
preventing the breakdown ofendocannabinoids, like
anandamide, which can boost moodand reduce inflammation.

(08:11):
And, you know, it influencesother non-cannabinoid receptors,
such as those serotoninreceptors, which plays a role in
reducing anxiety and promotingthe feelings of calm.
And it helps to regulate theimmune responses through those
CB2 receptors, without thepsychoactive effects of THC.
So this is why CBD has a muchmore subtle effect.

(08:34):
It doesn't create that intensehigh that THC does, but it
supports your body's ECSfunction, helping to regulate
pain, your mood and inflammationin a very balanced and
therapeutic way.
When your ECS is out of balancewhether it's because you have an
injury, maybe you're stressedout or you got sick it can lead

(08:55):
to a lot of problems.
So some conditions associatedwith ECS dysregulation are
arthritis, fibromyalgia so it'sthat chronic pain and
inflammation, anxiety and stressdisorders, sleep disorders like
insomnia, neurologicalconditions like epilepsy and
multiple sclerosis, digestiveissues and irritable bowel

(09:17):
syndrome, autoimmune diseases, because ECS modulates immune
responses.
And in these cases, you know, supporting the ECS with
compounds like CBD can helprestore balance and improve
symptoms.
So the ECS is a criticalregulatory system in your body
that affects almost every aspectof your health, from mood and

(09:39):
pain management to immunefunction and sleep.
It's responsible for keepingthings running smoothly.
You know, I always like to talkabout myself, but we have a
really good friend that has ashop and I love these CBD bath
bombs.
They're a little fizzy.
You put them in the bath andanytime I use one, I sleep the
rest of the night.
So I can only imagine puttingthis in an infusion for you and

(10:03):
don't worry, I'm going to betrying it first, as well as my
husband, my favorite guinea pig.
But by optimizing the ECS,you're essentially hitting the
reset button on your body'sbalance.
This is where CBD and othercannabinoids comes in.
It helps support your ECS andbrings your body back to
equilibrium.
I guess, in summary, the ECS isthe unsung hero that regulates
how your body reacts toequilibrium.

(10:24):
I guess, in summary, like theECS is the unsung hero that
regulates how your body reactsto stress, injury, inflammation
and more, and by supporting itthrough things like CBD
infusions, you're giving yourbody the tools it needs to
operate more efficiently.
So next time someone mentionsthe ECS, you can really
confidently say oh, I know whatthat system is that keeps my

(10:44):
body's gears running smoothly.
So CBD infusions can be helpfulfor a variety of people and
conditions.
I almost don't know anybody whocouldn't use one right, but
I'll give you a few examples.
People with chronic pain Ifyou're dealing with ongoing
inflammation or pain like backpain, fibromyalgia, arthritis or

(11:05):
really any itis, cbd can be apowerful addition to your
treatment regimen.
Stress junkies so if you have ahigh stress lifestyle that can
really wreak havoc on your bodysystems, and if you're feeling
the weight of anxiety, cbd canbe an effective tool to bring
balance back to ECS.
If you're having sleep issues,if you can't seem to fall asleep

(11:28):
or stay asleep, a CBD infusionmight be exactly what you need
to recalibrate your body'snatural rhythms.
Or if you're one of thoseinflammation warriors from
autoimmune diseases to generalinflammation CBD's
anti-inflammatory effects canhelp manage these conditions
more effectively.
Or anyone just looking for awellness boost If you just want

(11:50):
to feel more balanced andgrounded, a CBD infusion can
support overall wellness byoptimizing your ECS.
The biggest question I've had isam I going to get high from it
or will it show up on a drugtest.
No, cbd is very well tolerated.
You can enjoy the calming andtherapeutic benefits of CBD

(12:12):
without feeling stoned orimpaired.
It's not going to show up on adrug screen.
It also doesn't go withoutrisks, though.
These can include fatigue.
Some people do report feeling alittle sleepy after taking CBD,
especially in higher doses.
I do start at a lower dose foryour first time to see how you
tolerate it.
It reminds me of the lastpedicure I had, which I am going

(12:37):
after this to get my next one.
It's been a while, but I hadsomething called a volcano
pedicure.
It was amazing, but it was aCBD pedicure.
I almost fell asleep in thechair.
I was so relaxed, it felt sogood and now that I'm talking
about it, I might get one ofthose again today.
The other one is blood pressurechanges.
So CBD has been shown to lowerblood pressure in some people,

(13:00):
which can be beneficial if youhave high blood pressure, but
can also be a little concerningif you already have low blood
pressure.
So when I give my infusions, Ido check a blood pressure in the
beginning and then the firstfive minutes of the infusion is
given pretty slowly.
I check a blood pressure againbefore I speed it back up.
Okay, and I'm not just talkingabout this because I think it's

(13:20):
cool.
I mean it is really cool.
There was a lot of research thathas come out about the benefits
.
There was a 2018 studypublished in Frontiers in
Pharmacology that CBD hasdemonstrated potent
anti-inflammatory andpain-relieving properties.
It works by interacting thereceptors in that ECS, helping

(13:42):
to reduce the production ofpro-inflammatory cytokines,
making it particularly effectivefor conditions like arthritis,
fibromyalgia and chronic pain.
One study found that CBDreduced pain and improved
mobility in patients withosteoarthritis just after a few
weeks of use.
Another one was research in thePermanente Journal.

(14:04):
This was in 2019.
It found that CBD significantlyreduced anxiety in 79% of
participants who received it aspart of a treatment plan.
Cbd has been shown to regulateserotonin levels, so it makes it
a great option for managinganxiety and stress without the
side effects of traditionalmedications and all of those

(14:24):
chemicals.
A 2019 study published in theJournal of Clinical Pharmacology
showed that CBD improved sleepin individuals with insomnia by
decreasing the time it took tofall asleep and increasing the
quality of sleep.
The study also indicated thatCBD helps reduce symptoms of
anxiety, which can often be aroot cause of sleep disturbances

(14:46):
.
Research has also indicatedthat CBD may have
neuroprotective properties,making it beneficial for
conditions like Alzheimer's andParkinson's.
There was a study in molecularneurobiology that showed CBD's
antioxidant andanti-inflammatory properties
help protect the brain cellsfrom degeneration.
And then the JCI Insight foundthat CBD helped reduce blood

(15:09):
pressure in healthy individualsby improving blood flow and
reducing the body stressresponse.
Cbd could potentially be anatural way to support
cardiovascular health.
So with all of this compellingresearch backing the therapeutic
properties of CBD, it's clearthat it's more than just a
wellness trend.
If you're struggling with pain, stress, sleep issues or

(15:31):
inflammation, a CBD infusionmight be the boost your body
needs to feel balanced andrejuvenated.
When it comes to CBD, themethod of delivery makes all the
difference.
So you may have heard abouttaking CBD oil or gummies, but
an infusion definitely is themost effective option.
First, there's fasterabsorption, which means quicker

(15:53):
results.
When you take CBD orally, ithas to pass through your
digestive system and liverbefore it enters your
bloodstream.
This is known as first passmetabolism enters your
bloodstream.
This is known as first passmetabolism.
It reduces the bioavailabilityof the CBD and, in simpler terms
, your body absorbs less of theCBD and it takes longer to feel
the effects.
And imagine if you also didn'thave a quality product.

(16:14):
With an infusion, cbd goesdirectly into your bloodstream,
bypassing that digestive systementirely.
This means that it's absorbedmuch more efficiently, allowing
you to feel the effects fasterand at a higher concentration.
Whether you're using over, painrelief, anxiety, sleep support,
the infusion ensures that youget the most out of each dose.

(16:36):
And I know while you're gettingyour infusion, I'm going to be
sitting next to youjabber-jawing all about the
benefits.
There's also higherbioavailability.
This refers to the amount ofsubstance that enters your
bloodstream and has an activeeffect on your body.
The oral CBD has abioavailability of 10 to 20%.

(16:56):
That means the majority of theCBD is broken down and doesn't
even make it to your bloodstreamin any active form.
Infusions, on the other hand, have a bioavailability of nearly
100%.
That's right, 100% when CBD isinfused directly into your
bloodstream, so your body getsthe full effect of every single
drop.
So if you're looking tomaximize your CBD experience, an

(17:20):
infusion is definitely the wayto go.
And I'm not even going to talkabout those that have poor gut
health, which is almost everysingle one of my patients.
Right, with oral CBD, it wouldbe really hard to know exactly
how much you're getting,especially if you're taking a
tincture or a gummy.
Doses can vary and there'salways risk of over or under

(17:41):
consumption.
Cbd infusions, however, allowme to do precise dosing tailored
to your needs.
Your healthcare provider cancontrol the amount of CBD being
delivered, ensuring that youreceive the perfect dose for
your specific health goals.
Whether you need a small dosefor stress or a large dose for
chronic pain, an infusion can becustomized to meet your needs.

(18:02):
And oral CBD has to travelthrough your digestive system,
where it can be affected by food, stomach acid and other factors
that might alter itseffectiveness.
The presence of food, forexample, can delay absorption,
meaning it takes longer for youto feel the effects, and
infusion just bypasses all of it.
It delivers CBD right into yourbloodstream for immediate

(18:24):
absorption.
No stomach acid, no digestivedelays, just fast, effective
relief.
And for those that are dealingwith chronic or severe
conditions like chronic pain, epilepsy, high levels of
inflammation, an infusion canprovide immediate and sustained
release.
So, since it enters thebloodstream directly and works
more efficiently, the effectsare often felt more intensely

(18:48):
and quicker, which can make ahuge difference when you're
dealing with intense symptoms.
So, while oral CBD can reallybe effective.
I'm not saying it's noteffective.
If you're looking for maximumbenefit, immediacy and precise
dosing, an infusion is probablyyour best option.
You know, whether you'redealing with pain, anxiety,
insomnia or inflammation, cbdinfusions do provide the fastest

(19:12):
, most efficient way toexperience the full therapeutic
effects of the powerful compound.
