In this weeks episode, I speak with Mallory Yawnghwe, President & CEO of Indigenous Box Inc.

Mallory Yawnghwe, is nehiyaw iskwew from the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in North Eastern Alberta. She is a graduate of  MacEwan University’s School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce in Supply Chain Management and candidate for the Supply Chain Management Professional designation. Mallory is currently working towards the completion  of an Executive MBA in Indigenous Business and Leadership at SFU’s Beedie School of Business. She is four years into her career as a Project Procurement Specialist with Alberta Infrastructure.

Mallory thrives on challenge and is driven to overcome her fear of the unknown to make a difference in this world. Sometimes accused of being overly optimistic, Mallory has used her positive attitude, humility, and perseverance, to grow into a respected Supply Chain professional, independent business and community consultant, educational facilitator, and entrepreneur. Her commitment to professionalism, ethics, and high standards in her work have already made her a stand-out in her fields. Most recently, she has taken a big leap into the role of President and CEO of her new start up Indigenous Box Inc

Mallory operates Indigenous Box from amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) with the help of her husband Khamserk and her daughters.

We discuss:

  • Her passion for shining a spotlight on indigenous entrepreneurs and business owners
  • How she started and grew a successful business in less than 1 year
  • How she was inspired by her grandparents and generous before her to start a business that supports her indigenous community and ancestry
  • Why representation matters and why it is important to continue to share and support indigenous communities and businesses
