100 episodes. What a milestone!

In this solo episode, I open up about the highs and lows of reaching this point with the Headliner Mindset Podcast. I share honestly about the self-doubt that crept in, the voice that told me to quit, and the support that reminded me why I started. From stepping on stage recently with Bella Renee to hearing encouragement from past clients, this episode is about the importance of having people in your corner.

We dive into:

  • Why consistency is everything (and what happens when you lose it)
  • How to navigate the “inner gremlin” of self-doubt
  • The role of community and accountability in staying inspired
  • A special announcement about the new Headliner Mastermind launching October 6

If you’re an artist who’s ready to stop spinning your wheels and lock in for the rest of 2025, this episode is for you.

wisdom that has shared so much.

(01:43):
I mean years and years and yearsof experience and knowledge that
has been shared on the last ahundred episodes of this.
So thank you from the bottom ofmy heart to each and every one
of you that have been a part ofthis, from my guests to the
listeners.
What a fucking cool moment, andI'm just excited to share this
episode with you, to share thismilestone with you.

(02:04):
Uh, you know, this is gonna be asolo episode today, and for
those of you that have beenlistening regularly, you guys
know that normally I put theseout every Monday.
I've been pretty damn consistentwith it, uh, for most of these a
hundred episodes.
Uh, up until the last, I dunno,it's been like six or seven
weeks or so that I really havebeen procrastinating on putting

(02:24):
out this episode.
And a big part of that is I justwanted to make it special.
I wanted to make it somethingbig and, and, you know, just
really, uh, impactful and I kindof just didn't know what to do.
Then in that time, in thatspace, I also, just to be
honest, to be vulnerable, to bereal.
I also had a lot of, I dunno,self-doubt start to creep in.
When I was really questioninglike, do I wanna keep doing

(02:46):
this?
To be honest, it's a lot oftime.
It's a lot of work, it's a lotof energy.
First and foremost, I'm, I'm acoach.
I'm not a podcaster.
This is not like, my day jobover here.
So I had this thought coming in.
I was like, yo, maybe I'm, maybeI'm gonna end it.
Maybe I'm just gonna cap it at ahundred and move on.
But you know, fortunately That'sright.

(03:08):
I'm not fucking leaving becausewe still have a lot more awesome
artists to interview.
In fact, I've got big giganticSan Holo Allison Wonderland all
coming up over next few weeks.
So if you guys are notsubscribed yet, make sure you're
subscribed.
Now, if you're an artist that'spursuing the dream of being a
headlining and touring artist,or maybe you already are you

(03:29):
know, that self-doubt is goingto creep in, right?
Those thoughts that say, Hey,maybe you should throw in the
towel.
You've been trying this for solong.
It's not happening, or it's toocompetitive, whatever the story
is, whatever that little gremlinvoice is that pops into your
head, it is a real thing andit's so normal and so much of
the work that I do as a coach ishelping master that inner voice

(03:51):
to become the master of itrather than the slave to it.
Right.
Call it the ego, call it thesaboteur.
I call it the inner gremlin.
you know, Learning how to haveawareness around that voice,
recognize it, but not let ittake over.
And to be honest, I'd kind oflet it take over for a while.
You know, I really fell off withthe podcast and um, thank God
that I have people in my cornerthat have encouraged me to keep
going, that have, you know, reminded me about how valuable

(04:13):
this is, uh, including some ofthose messages that you heard in
the beginning of the episode.
Those are video messages that Ireceived from my clients.
And shout out to Rileyspecifically.
He just randomly hit me up oneday and he was just like, Hey,
man, like.
Mean I haven't talked to you ina long time.
We worked together like, Idunno, over a year ago.
And he's just like, I just wannasay, you know, what's up?
I love you.
Like, congrats on a hundredepisodes.

(04:33):
And I hadn't, I hadn't even donethe episode yet, obviously.
But it just really breathed lifeback into me and, you know, it
just made me realize theimportance of having people in
your corner because that littlegremlin voice is going to pop
up.
And so we need other voices.
You know, I recently had anotherexample of that happen where my
friend Bella Renee, shout out toBella, an incredible singer,

(04:54):
vocalist, producer, she justplayed Lost Lands this last
weekend.
Um, she invited me to come outto play guitar at one of her
shows.
She was playing in Dallas, andshe's like, Nick, you gotta come
out and you gotta play guitarwith me.
You know, she's seen me in mycorner.
Just kind of, you know, tinkering around, put.
My little riffs here and there.
I don't consider myself anartist in that sense.

(05:15):
I'm not pursuing anything likethat professionally.
But she really saw me and she'slike, no.
Like, you get to fucking comeout of the closet, come out of
your room and fucking get onstage with me.
And so originally I'm like, yeah, I'm so down.
That sounds so fun.
But then like two nights beforeI called her and I was like,
Hey, like are, are you sure?
Like you really want me to comeout?
You know, I had the, the voice, the gremlin was creeping in,

(05:39):
being like, yo, you're notready.
You didn't prepare.
You didn't really know whatyou're doing.
And I started having thatself-doubt creep in and I called
her and, you know, thank God shetotally just got me pumped up
and excited and it was like, no,we're gonna go out there, we're
gonna have fun.
And, uh, really turned mymindset around, you know, and so
got up there, played my firstshow ever playing the guitar.

(06:01):
I played drums when I was likeway younger.
But man, that was a reallyawesome experience.
So first off, again, shout outBella.
I fucking love you.
You're amazing and I'm gonna getyou on the podcast soon.
But it was just an a, a really.
Another great example of why weneed support.
We have to have people in ourcorner, and especially as
artists, especially as musicproducers I should say, or

(06:23):
bedroom music producers where wespend so much time alone in the
room, you know, by yourselfstaring at your computer, just,
uh, isolated.
Right, and isolation is one ofthe, you know, just biggest ways
to fall into those spirals ofself-doubt, So it's so important

(06:44):
that we have people in ourcorner.
We are not meant to do thisalone.
And also the other thing that'sbecome really clear to me
recently is that we need to beconsistent, right?
Like I have had so much successwith the podcast because I have
shown up every single week, every Monday, putting out an
episode, and then definitely sawthe.
What happens, when you stopbeing consistent, right?

(07:04):
I took a little bit of a break, which, you know, of course it's
okay to take a break sometimes.
We gotta take our foot off thegas.
We gotta take care of ourselvesand, and, and that's all good.
But also realistically, when wedo, there are gonna be
consequences to that, right?
We're going to start seeing ourbusiness slow down.
We're gonna start seeing our fanbase dwindle.
We're gonna start seeing lessmomentum.
And I definitely saw that right?

(07:25):
Once I took my foot off the gaswith the podcast, everything in
my business slowed down.
Just, you know, any sort of.
social Media algorithm, any kindof, just connection, really
slowed down as well.
So as much as I hate to say it,it really is important that when
you launch your project andyou're out there and you're
getting after it, you're puttingout music.
Like we really do have to stayconsistent.

(07:46):
And part of staying consistent,of course, is also being
inspired, right?
It's being accountable.
That's what's helped me stayconsistent, is I have people
that are expecting me to put outan episode every Monday.
but What happens when theinspiration dies off?
Uh, if I don't have somebody inmy corner to inspire me, to keep
me motivated, to lean on, totalk to when I need support,

(08:07):
then what really what happenedwith me is like I just kind of
became isolated and, you know, missed out on a month and a half
of, of what could have been abunch of new fans.
A lot more growth, a lot moreopportunity.
So I know this brings up a lotof pressure for a lot of
artists, right?
Like feeling the pressure oflike, I have to keep posting
every day.
I have to keep showing up everyday.
I have to make content, I haveto keep releasing.

(08:28):
And you know, there's thisinteresting dynamic and balance
where yes, if it's coming frompressure, then it's gonna be.
Really hard.
Right.
It's going to be a grind.
It's always gonna feel like weare, uh, kind of coming from
stress and coming from anxietyand that's really, that's no way
to operate.
And that's where, you know, yeah, it is.
Okay.
I think to take your foot offthe gas, take a break if you

(08:50):
need to, but what's.
Important is to really getshifted back into inspiration
and excitement.
Right?
This is what I notice for a lotof touring artists that I work
with where, you know, theyreally are dependent on
continuing to put out content, continuing to put out music, uh,
and basically continuing to stayrelevant because if.
They're not, they're not gettingbookings and if they don't get

(09:11):
bookings, they're not makingmoney, and that's their
full-time income.
So that can kind of create ahead fuck.
Right?
It's a little bit different whenyou're still coming up.
It's, you know, you might beputting that pressure on
yourself when you're a full-timeartist.
The, you know, the pressure isreal also.
But I think the big mindsetshift to step into is moving
from, I have to, to, I get to,like, I'm get to do this.
I'm blessed to do this wouldreally be the ultimate level,

(09:34):
right?
Like, damn, I'm so blessed thatI get to wake up and I, I get to
make music, I get to makecontent.
I get to put out these episodes,I get to connect with artists,
right?
When I feel like this is a chorethat I have to do this, I'm kind
of fucked, right?
So there's a couple differentlayers to this, right?
It's like I've gotta bringmyself into that mindset and
into that energy of, wow, I'mblessed to do this every day.

(09:54):
I'm blessed to be creative.
I'm blessed to put out music.
I'm ble blessed to put outepisodes, and it also really
helps to have some externalaccountability, right?
Knowing that like I, I get toput out an episode every Monday,
people are expecting it, andhaving other people in my corner
to really push me, to encourageme and to support me.
So I knew I wanted to dosomething special for the
hundredth episode.

(10:15):
And I suppose procrastinating onthis actually was kind of
divinely orchestrated because itreally did line up perfectly
that we are about to step intothe last quarter of the year.
We have three more months,October, November, December, and
then we're hitting 2026.
And I don't know about you guys, but this year has flown by
already.
And I know for most people, likewe usually wait until New

(10:37):
Year's.
To start, getting excited and tostart, you know, coming up with
our New Year's resolutions andour goals and, and you know,
that whole talk about like, thisis gonna be my year, that's when
it starts.
But what I wanna offer is thatwe don't wait until 2026 that we
come into 2026 on fucking fire, that we have momentum already.

(10:59):
We're not starting to getmomentum.
And so.
I really sat down and thoughtabout it.
I was like, this is perfecttiming to put together what I'm
calling the HeadlinerMastermind.
And I've never done this before.
But I'm gonna take on a smallgroup of five or six people and
do a very intimate groupcoaching program between now and
the end of the year where wehave weekly calls, we have daily

(11:22):
accountability, we focus on, ofcourse, the mindset, getting
inspired, getting fired up,having accountability, having a
group of.
Peers in your corner to pushyou, to challenge you, to hold
you accountable, to check in onyou, as well as, you know,
walking you guys througheverything that I coach my
clients on, right?
So that means getting superclear on your goals, getting

(11:44):
super clear on your systems andyour processes, really getting
your brand dialed in, gettingall of your systems dialed in
because you are running abusiness.
You need to have, you know, solid systems and not just be
guessing at how to grow a fanbase.
Right.
But like having a social mediacalendar, having a really clear
content strategy and people tobounce ideas around with.
So we're gonna go super deepinto all of that, but I wanna

(12:06):
keep it really small and reallyintimate.
So this is different from theHeadliner Mindset Group program
that I've run in the past.
This is going to be a truemastermind, so really only for
people that are super seriousabout like leveling the fuck up
over the next three months thatare gonna be committed, that
really want to go all in.
I know a lot of you are probablycoming back from Lost Lands

(12:27):
right now, being like, damn, howdo I get on stage?
How do I make that happen formyself?
Well, you know, it starts withmaking.
That commitment being incrediblydisciplined, being incredibly
driven, cutting out the bullshitoutta your lives, getting locked
the fuck in and straight up formost people, you're not gonna do
that by yourself, right?
We need to surround ourselveswith other people that have that

(12:50):
same kind of mindset, to bearound people that have that
same level of drive, that samelevel of ambition.
And I'm telling you, this isgonna be the place to do it.
I'm gonna be super selectiveabout who I take on.
Uh, but if this calls to you.
Send me a dm.
I'm gonna have more informationcoming out on this over the next
couple weeks, but we're gonnastart on October 6th.

(13:11):
So October, November, December,we are locking the fuck in.
We're getting after it.
You know, no more spinning yourwheels, no more wondering, why
is my career not growing?
Why are my fans not growing?
Like, we're gonna get all thatdialed in.
We're gonna do it as a group.
We're gonna have a high level ofstandards, a high level of
accountability, a high level ofdrive, commitment, motivation,

(13:34):
and also a lot of fucking fun.
Anyone that's worked with me,you know, we are always gonna
have a good time.
We're gonna have fun too.
Fun gets it done.
So Yeah, you guys, I'm superexcited to find the right people
that wanna be a part of thiswith me.
Like I said, just send me a DMon Instagram, uh, and I'm super
excited for the next a hundredepisodes of the Liner Mindset
Podcast.
We've got some really, reallygreat people on the way.

(13:55):
We've got some really greatepisodes, so thank you for
tuning in.
Please subscribe if you're notsubscribed and stay tuned for a
lot of great stuff on the way.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
