It's because anything new to us is unknown and the unknown always brings a little bit of fear but you do it anyway. The worst thing that could happen to a person is to wake up years later and have regrets that they didn't at least try. There is no such thing as failure, if things don't go the way you wanted them to then you learn, you not only learn through experience but you learn what you still need to work on, and if they do go the way you wanted them to you're that much further up on the ladder. After all life is about the journey not necessarily the destination. It is that journey that gives us excitement and purpose so it's a win win no matter what the outcome is.
